You didn't explain well, like how Nigeria did not make life better for the Igbo's? And there is nothing like break up for a try o.you are gone forever. From what you wrote you don't really understand what it means to break away at all do you. Trust me breaking away right now will make life more difficult for Biafra, you don't even have what it takes yet. Only Lagos can try it for now and they will suffer very well before they get balance well.
Thats what they said when Zik and his fellow compatriots were fighting for independence from Britain.

They all thought that Nigeria would not survive without Britain. But Nigeria did.

Thw difference here is that Britain is a civilised country. When the agitation for independence became loud, they didnt go around threatening and killing people, they allowed Nigerians to be be independent.

But Nigerians are not as civilised as the British, thats why if Igbos talk about Biafra, the next thing you hear is:

'We must live and die together"

"Nigerian unity is sacrosanct"

"The unity if Nigeria is not negotiable"

If all these were true, then Nigeria should never have been independent from Britain because Britain created Nigeria

Guy what are you saying? Leave go where? Can the east contain them? How do you explain to a man to leave his whole life's work and go angry. Isn't that wickedness of the highest order?tell me how Biafra will elevate you as a person? Breaking Nigeria is not the key and it won't make your life better. Go to other States and see Igbo people flourishing, do you want them to suffer? And what is your own reason for the agitation? I am interested.
Is a tiny state like Lagos can contain 25 million people then the East can contain everyone.

Nigeria has not managed to make anyones life better so its time to give break up a try and see what happens.

If Igbos are flourishing else where then good for them, they should stay there. Im only interested in Igbo land

I seriously don't know what to say about you and the man, when ipob was shouting for Biafra what did you say? Now they tell them to leave their land you are now crying. After all when Pharaoh told the Israelites to leave they left immediately so why can't they leave. Be reasonable for once and know that peace is free but almost impossible to regain.
Telling people to leave without granting them their country is meaningless

He didnt but the fact that he tried means more than.the fact that he lost.

In Africa, very few men fight for their people. The fact that Ojukwu tried is why his people love him.

All others after him just shouted "one Nigeria" and ate money which is the easy route.

Obviously you know nothing about the war. Oil was never part of the war. For your information, States that have oil are not even igbo, nor Ibo Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa. Igbo lands in them was declared by Obasanjo in year 2000. If you don't know, go and ask Ojukwu and you will see that he will own up that he stupidly led his people to war to satisfy his ego
Lets not forget that back when the civil war started there were no states, only Regions and provinces.

Lets not also forget that Ojukwu declared Biafra because Gowon broke the terms of the Aburi agreement by unilaterally dissolving the Regions and creating states.

Lets not forget that even after Ojukwu declared Biafra, Nigeria could have still gone down the road of referendum rather than war which Ojukwu was open to.

But Nigeria chose the path of war, killed millions for economic and political benefits. 50 years on, Nigeria is more divided than ever and has regressed much more.

If Nigeria had worked as a nation after the civil war like America worked after its own civil war then maybe one would have something against Ojukwu.

Nigeria did not work which means that both Ojukwu and Kanu were right to try to get their people out of an unworkable union.

As a general, he should have stayed back. It's like seeing a ship captain abandon his ship. In Japan, Samurais and war Generals would perform a feat called Seppuku, a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment. The Seppuku takes place when a Samurai or a General fails and while Ojukwu was never Japanese, fleeing was the height of cowardice after sacrificing two million potential young lives while he took his children with him to Abidjan.

At the end of the day, the near three million deaths were for nothing because the same man responsible for their deaths returned to the country a Nigerian and even contested for the Presidency. Calling Ojukwu a coward is an insult to true cowards.
You Nigerians have been brainwashed to believe that Ojukwu caused the death of 3 million people. The truth is that it was Nigeria that killed 3 million people. The only tning Ojukwu did was declare the independence of his people which is noble.

You Nigerian were hell bent on looking for free oil money and came to fight for it. The war Nigeria fought was never about unity, it was all about subjugation. When you call someone a brother, you dont go and fight him just because he said he is moving out of your fathers compound. It is only someone looking to enslave another that will be fighting war to be united.

Im proud of Ojukwu. He fought for our independence for 3 long years. I cannot begrudge him for leaving in the end when the center could no longer hold. The only people that would have benefitted from Ojukwu staying back to die were Nigerians and Ojukwu was wise enough not to give Nigeria that satisfaction.

I don talk am,all of una be mumu,na your own even worry me pass. Can you even believe yourself,so you're telling me Ojukwu's life was greater than millions of your grandfathers and mothers he wasted, which kind sense be this for God's sake? Ojukwu was a rookie general who did not evaluate the collateral damage of the war he went into, even though he fought against all odds(kudos to him), but you don't fight a war you can't win,its a normal principle. Even after fighting, the Chinese will always say 'death before dishonour',meaning I will rather die than be disgraced. If Ojukwu was really fighting a just or general cause, answer the following questions (1) why run away when connered? (2) Why run away after leading millions of your people to death? (3) Why come back to contest election in the same country he wanted out from? (4) Why collect military pension from the same country he hated? I can go on and on asking questions you have no answers to. You claimed he was revered by his people,Why did the same people reject him at the polls on three occasions?
Ojukwu staying back to die would not have changed anything but give you Nigerians something to cheer about. Ojukwu was not abiut to cheer you people up.

After the war, Ojukwu came back and accepted 'one Nigeria', and you are asking why he should not enjoy his rights as a Nigerian by contesting elections and collecting his pension?

So when Ojukwu was fighting for Biafra, he was the enemy. When he accepted Nigeria, he is still the enemy?

Hypocrisy

And who is stopping you people from breaking out? Show you're serious by relocating first. Get out of SW. Get out of North and we'll start to take you people serious. Go ask your elders back at home why they're not supporting your childish, ill-conceived agitation for secession.
Nobody is going to do this again because it was done in 1967 to no avail. The onus now lies with Nigeria to show it is serious by granting referendum. Then people can can start relocating.

It's funny you think secession will solve your problems. It only goes to show how myopic you guys are.

It may interest you to know that I like Igbos. Some of my friends are Igbo, so this is not an anti-Igbo rant but a rant against idiocy. No offense meant, please.
Secession is not just about solving ones problems, it is also about being free and controlling ones destiny. Scotland has been part of Britain for over 300 years, it didnt stop them agitating and getting a referendum on independence in 2014. No British persons has any grudge against the Scottish for doing this because the British are civilised enough to respect Scotlands right to self determination

No offense , but you make less sense with this post.
The point is, those people led their people to war for whatever reason and gave their life for it . They stood till death for the course they established .

It doesn't change the fact that Ojukwu fled when he technically led his people to death.
Heroes make sacrifices even with their life .
Onwuateagwu and Azuchie who followed Ojukwu to the airport should have fled too. As a matter of fact, they could be shot dead , but they stayed back and watched their master run.

According to obasanjo's account of Onwuateagwu's death, he launched a final attack on nigerian troop and got killed .
You are making a mistake, Hittler fought a war of agression to create a German empire. When Germany was about to lose the war, he shot himself. Hittler had no other choice. There was no country he could have gone to and the world would not have been looking for him. Mussolini was captured and killed as he tried to escape. These men did not give their life ti anything, death was their way out of a tight situation

Ojukwu on the other hand flew into exile, was warmly recieved. While in exile, he became an international business man and travelled all over Europe and America a free man except in Nigeria

Effiong had nothing to fear, he called for a cease fire to armed struggle. He was just no 2 man and and not hated as much as Ojukwu. Effiong contacted Obasunjo and told him they were ready to throw in the towel and that was it. If Ojukwu had done that, he would have faced firing squad.

Onwuatuegwu was just someone who refused to accept that the war was over. He should have melted into the bushes and reappared when the coast was clear just like other Biafran commanders did. But he had other plans.

Heroes fight for their cause, but if that cause is facing certain defeat, there is no point throwing ones life away if it will make no difference.
PoliticsRe: Sincere Questions For Biafra Agitators by attackgat: 3:47pm On Aug 04, 2017
WetinConsignMe:
I am asking these questions because I honestly don't know the answers.
Those agitating for Biafra secession, or anyone with the answers, how would these be resolved:

1) My family and extended family have properties all over Nigeria
And so? Nigerians have investments all over the world. Have they lost those investments for not being citizens of the country?

2) My family members work in the Federal govt. Do they quit there jobs?
If Biafra is declared, the Nigerians in civil service in the East will have to quit their jobs and make way for those from the East who will also have to quit and return home to take over those jobs.

3)I have family members in the Army and police with strong bonds to their colleagues from other tribes
They will have to quit and return home. The bond of frienship should not be as strong as loyalty to ones ancestral land

4) My sister is married to a Yoruba man and his best friend for life is an Igbo man.
There are many Nigerians married to foreigners from other countries, it has never been a problem. Everyone will just have to apply for the appropriate visa just as foreigners presently do

5) l have family members in various Universities outside Igbo land with strong undying bonds to people from other tribes
As in the above, everyone will just have to apply for visa and life goes on

6) Non of ndi Igbo I know who reside outside Igbo land seem to want Biafra, unlike in the '60s when ndi Igbo were willing to die for it
Biafra is about Igbos resident and living in the East. It is not about Igbos living in diaspora. But I hasten to add that many Igbos living in diaspora want Biafra. IPOB is still and internationally funded organisation by Igbos in diaspora

7) Many non-Igbo artisans have resided and worked in Igbo land for so long they are practically Igbo, also policemen and soldiers.
They too will have to apply for the right visas to stay
cool How about Igbo groups who may later want to seceed from Biafra or who don't want Biafra?
If anyone doesnt want Biafra, they should vote in a referendum to remain part of Nigeria

All I'm asking is: Isn't Nigeria too intertwined to be separated again? Isn't the genie already out of the bottle? Isn't it best if we find a way to live together instead of secessionist agitations?

Just asking. I don't have the answers. Those who do, please enlighten us.

Lalasticlala, feel free, if you have the answers
Czechoslovakia were together almost 80 years in 1992 when they split up into Czech Republic and Republic of Slovakia

Scotland has been part of Britain for over 300 years, 3 times as much as the life of Nigeria which is just a little over 100 years. It did not stop scottish people from agitating for independence and getting a referendum in 2014
