Call Ojukwu whatever name you like. There is something that strikes me about him: educated at Eton College in Windsor (the best school, both historically and at the present moment, on this planet earth) and then gained his degree from Oxford University. He had everything going for him to become whatever he wanted outside the Nigerian Army. No one, in the history of the Nigerian Army, to date, had the privilege background and education Ojukwu had.
His father was also the richest man in West Africa yet Ojukwu forsaked all that wealth to enter the Army as a lowly recruit. Even with his Oxford degree! There are very few people in Nigeria who enter the Army if their father were extremely rich.

I'm shocked to find out from this that Murtala Mohammed used to be ADC to Aguiyi Ironsi.

PoliticsRe: If I Were To Do It Again, I Will Vote Buhari by attackgat: 4:48pm On Jul 14, 2016
A lot of people are under the illusion that Buhari is the reason Boko Haram subsided. Not true. The reason Boko Haram has subsided is because Chad, Niger Republic and Cameroon joined the fight against them and they did not do it because of Buhari. They did it because Boko Haram was spreading to their territory. But even though Boko Haram attacks have gone down, it has pretty much being replaced by herdsmen attacks anyway so not much has changed. When you add renewed militant attacks, you realise that the situation was actually better under GEJ.

Mind you, weapons didn't win the war but Awolowo's brain inspired policies.
You are wrong. Ojukwu was the best person placed to have won the war. Ojukwu was the one who had the Oil. If Ojukwu had been able to sell Oil and import arms the way he wanted, Nigeria could never have won. It was British Warships that blockaded Biafra and prevented Ojukwu from selling Oil while supplying massive amounts of Arms to Nigeria. Britain won the war for Nigeria.

Nobody is offering themselves to be killed, it is your uncivilised security forces that are shooting people they are paid to protect. Besides, the police and Army have shooting and killing Biafran protesters since the days of OBJ, long before Buhari won elections so this not like something that started just because of Buhari

How Ndigbo Can Break Free From Their Victim Mentality Syndrome By Churchill Okonkwo.

I don’t know about you, but it looks bizarre to me anytime I come across phrases like these on social media: “Igbo man achieves…”; “Igbo student ….”; “Igbo woman became…”; “Igbo man this, Igbo man that”. Suddenly, accomplishments by Nigerians across the globe are being zeroed down to tribe by a section of the country. What could be the reason behind this? To feel superior? To feel good? To show “them” that you are excelling?

Whatever you think it is, reducing the nationality of an individual’s achievement to the lowest decimal possible - one's tribe - to me does not elevate nor strengthen such honors. Rather than strength, it all points to something strange, a feeling of inferiority and fear. I thus see such actions as unconscious acts of perpetuating a self-imposed and unwarranted sense of marginalization – a victim mentality syndrome that only reinforces negative attitudes and isolation.

Negative attitude is poisonous and can negatively impact the way we feel and act. It is therefore extremely important that Ndigbo should switch to a positive frequency in order to reshape our realities and thoughts. That’s why I am here to let you know that it’s time to let go and start with a new thinking.

But first, here’s how to know that you have this victim mentality syndrome as Onye Igbo. You feel like every other tribe has it so easy in Nigeria except you; you always feel like it’s not my fault, they did it to me. You want to be a martyr, so you confront the security forces to be killed; you are addicted to imaginary misery and drama; blaming Buhari for everything improves your state of mind; you never feel responsible for your negative behavior; you only focus on negative events and disappointments, so even when Boko Haram are being decimated and massive corruption exposed, you keep focusing on real and imaginary marginalization; you display self-defeating, almost masochistic behavior – I am miserable therefore, I am. You know yourself now.

For Ohaneze Ndigbo that is meeting tomorrow at Owerri, here is the deal; you should make it clear to Ndigbo that the traits listed above are not an excuse to embrace a victim mentality. Tell Ndigbo that they should not be steering the pirate ship into the same iceberg that sank their father’s ship. After accepting that something shitty happened to them (whatever it is), tell Ndigbo that they need to embrace a new and fearless chapter. So, here are the bold steps to release ourselves from our victim mentality syndrome.

Stop asking why.
You will only end up torturing yourself more with that painful loop of questions without answers. It should have been that simple from day one. There will never be a satisfactory answer or gratifying analysis as to why Nigerian government will not “let you go”. So, stop playing the “poor me” card. Take responsibility. Wise up your life, there is really no way around it. Stop committing acts that will make you a martyr. The world is not paying attention.

Ask courageous questions.
I completely agree that space must be given for the “marginalized” to express themselves. But by clinging to the victim mentality, you get lost in the funk of sadness and self-pity. You fail to take action and exempt yourselves from the risks of failure. You carry an extra baggage. The fact is that surviving and thriving in multiethnic and religions society like Nigeria is not easy, but one need not assume a victim mentality in relation to it. So, ask courageous questions. How can we as a people move forward from here? Can you grab some power at state level of government and start setting example of what live will be like in the land of the rising sun?

Name your prize.
If what it will take to rid yourself of victim mentality is to have an Igbo sounding name as Nigerian President in 2019, start planning for it now by forging alliances with other political forces. If, on the other hand, ‘restructuring’ Nigeria will make you feel ‘rich’, take responsibility by strategizing on how to elect public office holders that will champion that cause from the local to the federal level. That’s how to take responsibility. Not this present display of victim mentality syndrome.

Unfortunately, your pro-Biafran movement is full of unhappy and confused people who keep telling you that the only way to achieve ‘sovereignty’ is by airlifting all your kinsmen to Mars. But what if you start with what you can grab immediately while you wait for the airlifting? You can shoot for political power base in the entire Southeastern Nigeria starting with the “Biggest Price” – The Anambra State Government House come 2017. The election is more than one year away, so you have more than enough time to start planning.

Forgive.
The most important thing you need to do is to forgive. Forgive the Hausas for the atrocities leading to the civil war. Forgive the Yorubas for betraying you during the Biafran civil war. Forgive the Niger Deltans for conniving with the Nigerian government to effectively block the Biafran enclave. After all, we are all over Southwest, North, and South-south working as professionals, doing business and prospering. By not forgiving them, you are bound to them by an emotional link that is stronger than uncooked ponmo (‘kanda’). Do you know the best thing about forgiveness? It does not only release the other person, it also sets you free from agony and unnecessary pain.

Finally, give yourself a break. Take a break from social media and all the junk websites that have kept you on the edge with fake stories of how the whole world (except Mugabe, Putin and Trump) has turned against you.

I know it’s hard getting out of the victim mentality syndrome but, you should be nice to yourself. All it will take to free yourself from the victim mentality syndrome is to remain an Okonkwo. Yes, Okonkwo! That’s who we are as Ndigbo - outgoing fearless, hardworking with reasonable sense of integrity. And that is freedom!

It is unfortunate that I wasted my MB reading the nonsense above from another "I must remain a Nigerian forever" slave mentalist. What is wrong with Igbos enumerating their achievements as long as it is factual? What is wrong in people boasting of their achievements particularly if it is something achieved through hardwork? Like the bumbling Nigerian he is, the writer is asking why Igbos want to be martyrs by confronting the Nigerian security personel. Is this guy for real? Is it the job of the Nigerian security personel to shoot those who confront them? Especially when they are unarmed? The Nigerian security agencies are commiting extrer-judicial murder and they are blaming those being killed. What an ignoramus. He is saying that Igbos are blaming Buhari for everything? The life of the common man has got much worse under Buhari mainly because of his visionless economic policy, who are we to blame? Kermit the frog? At least those that are agitating for Biafra are aspiring for their sovereignty, the writter is still aspiring for something much less such as the presidency of Nigeria that has never helped anybody, even those who have held it before. The writer is just a small minded individual.

Buy the law does not invalidate right to free speech have heard about anyone in court for throwing insults another. There may have been cases of sedition and defamation but they are not the same as insults. Kanu is well within his constitutional rights to insult any ethnic group or person. the man even insults his fellow Igbos more than anyone else. If Buhari is aggrieved at being called a pedophile or a terrorist, he can take Kanu to court for defamation which is not even a criminal matter but a civil one.

Guy, you are the one making mockery of your self. There are over 40 tribes in your so called Niger-Delta including indigenous Igbos. You have attached your self to all of them in the name of SS that didn't even exist 20 years ago. Laughable. What connects a Bini man and an Ogoja man? What connects an Itsekiri man to an Efik man? What connects an Esan man to an Ibibio man? Absolutely nothing! Do you know that the Igbo man is even closer to the Ogoja,Efik and Ibibio man than anyone else in Nigeria and we share land borders with all of them, inter-married and traded for hundreds of years before there was anything called Nigeria. You guys are really funny. Someone will be on one side of the River Niger and be attaching themselves to another tribe they don't know anything about on the other side of the River in the name of a non existent SS created by Abacha. These are over 40 tribes, some of these people are comfortable with Igbos and don't mind being with them, some want to stay in Nigeria and some want a Niger-Delta Republic. So stop attaching your self to any tribe and support a broad based referendum where everyone decides where they want to belong.

There is no solution. Christianity and Islam are not compatible. You can't even begin to count the number of people that have been killed in Nigeria over religious differences alone. And you know the worst thing? Many thousands if not millions more are still going to be killed over it. Religious differences is one of the biggest reasons why Nigeria should split. Iseoluwani:
If one takes a very critical look at Nigeria, it won’t be hard to notice that the biggest trouble Nigeria has is the issue of religion.

Virtually every problem the Nigerian government has had to tackle from the inception has been problems rooted in religion.

Religion has for too long threatened to destroy Nigeria, and religion still threatens to see that the nation ceases to exit.

Beginning from the civil war fought between 1967 and 1970, one can see the hand of religion in all that troubles the nation.

It must be stressed that as at the time when the war was about breaking out, the Igbos saw themselves as the biblical Israelites who had to come out of Egypt a land of slavery and oppression.

The Boko Haram insurgency which for a few years has really troubled Nigeria is deeply rooted in religion and religious fanaticism.

Agitations with regards to the actualization of the Biafra Republic, is a concept that is founded on religious philosophies, the same religious idiosyncrasy which saw the emergence a civil war is the same experienced in the current movement and it has had its own fair share of bloodshed.

Having tabled these facts, it won’t be out of place to say that Nigeria’s biggest problem is the problem of religion.
I agree. Most countries of the world have one religion that is the majority, however, Nigeria is one of those rare cases where the country is 50% Muslim and 50% Christan/ traditional beliefs. Therefore, both sides will forever be entangled in a battle for supremacy.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Igbos Hate Buhari For No Reason? by attackgat: 4:43pm On Jul 12, 2016
As an Igbo man, why I don't like Buhari

1) The 97%-5% statement
2) Disregard of the confab report for true federalism
3) Lopsided appointments in favour of the North
4)Buhari's inability to control his murderous Fulani tribe
5) The economy and cost of living has gotten much worse under Buhari than it was under GEJ.

Before such is achieve all illegal gatherings against the state borne out of hatred and genocide inciting gospels whether on the field, in the air or under the water must be crushed.

We are in the 21st century, campaigning for the cause must be civil, intellectual, highly cerebral and peaceful. A slight deviation from those is a tacit invitation to anarchy and such must not be condone within any sovereignty.

Have a nice day.
Peace? Which peace? When has Nigeria been at peace? And which sovereignty? The one Lord Lugard gave you? How can a white man come to Africa to give you your sovereignty or country? Which Nation Assembly did Lugard go to when he made you a Nigerian? What contract did we sign to be one nation? You don't seen to understand either. The same mandate you are saying Nnamdi Kanu hasn't got is the same mandate Nigeria hasn't got either. Nigeria is just an illegal colonial creation and the indigenous people who populate it where all forced into it. By virtue of that, the only solution is to allow a referendum to be held amongst those who are agitating for it. You cannot claim legality from an illegality. You cannot claim to have a country when certain tribes never agreed to be part of it in the first place.
