He trampled upon children and women and jumped like a criminal into a waiting plane to run away from rhe fate that obasanjo and gowon planned for him. You only reason the way you do when you see a drug convict killed in indonesia and call him hero Ahh Ojukwu did not fight? Guy it is easy to accept the slavery of 'one Nigeria' imposed by Lord Lugard and accept the Northerners as your master. But real men are people like Ojukwu who get up and fight tyranny oppression. I don't expect you to understand, people like you are still answering the name of a River the White man gave them. |

Sorry for una, all this Biafra journalists just they give their people false hope. It's got nothing to do with treason charges. It's got to do with infringement on a persons fundamental human rights. We all know of at least two court judgments that ordered the release of Kanu that were flouted by the Nigerian Government. This is not an infringement on Kanu's rights, it is also a sign of system decay. |

kenny987: Personally I think he is unnecessarily rocking the boat. We are in perilous times and we need all our strong men to help build our homeland. This fighting can be addressed at home and he can negotiate some kind of understanding with the governor. All the adversarial posturing takes us nowhere and at the end of the day, alaigbo pays the price.
Posterity will be kind to him if he plays the role of statesman, gives even a portion of Abia a much needed facelift and so on. He can reach an understanding for a lucrative contract which pays him well and also translates into substantial development for ndi Abia. He can negotiate a House of Reps or Senate seat then even become governor afterwards, after all they are of d same party. At least of he concedes at this level and really has d people at heart, I am certain Ikpeazu will appreciate his goodwill cos it'll be an obvious sacrifice and both of them can save the extra costs of proceeding to the Supreme Court.
This madness smacks of sabotage and we have had enough of it in Igbo land. It's time to rally together for our own good. A bum nwa Anambra mana ihe gbasara alaigbo nile n'amasi m nke ukwu. Your problem is that you are still thinking like a corrupt Nigerian. The Governor of any state is who the law says it is, not who won an election. There are no sentiments here. If anyone, for any reason believes that they have been short changed in any electoral process, they head to the courts for justice. The courts decide who is right and who is wrong. Ogah is rocking no Boat, he is using the instruments of the courts to decide the captain of the Boat. It is his constitutional right |

Uche Ogah should just save his money and get involved with d Abia state government, probably fund out what prominent role he can play to better the lot of his people. It will be to his credit and that of his party unless he has decamped quietly, he must not be governor to be relevant. Don't talk like that. Ogah is pursuing his agenda through the law courts. StOla: So there you have it, 1957. He was the very 1st graduate to enroll in the Nigerian Army. Ojukwu enrolled in 1958.
Nzeogwu and the others you mentioned were never mates of Olutoye.
So who is truly ignorant now?
punchng.com/1966-coup-plotters-planned-make-awolowo-head-state-olutoye/ Your problem is that you don't know the difference between 'commission' and 'join'. Olutoye may have joined the Army in 1957, but he did not become a commissioned Military officer until 1960. Ojukwu had already completed his training and was already a commissioned officer in 1957. Olutoye hadn't even started his training then. Ojukwu was far senior to Olutoye. Even Olutoye said in the interview: But when I asked what my job would be, I was told that I would be a clerk carrying files and I didn’t want a life of boredom. Not too long after, I went to the army headquarters in Apapa and said I wanted to join the army. There, I learnt that Emeka (Chukwuemeka Odumegwu) Ojukwu had just been employed as a graduateStop making blind aguement and read Olutoyes interview below http://africanspotlight.com/2013/05/17/though-i-begged-major-nzeogwu-not-to-stage-1966-coup-he-ignored-me-gen-olutoye/ |

T8ksy: But there was an ethnic agenda by the ibos to dominate the rest of us even long before we got our independence from the Brits. In fact, ibos love of One Nigeria at that period in time definitely wasn't for the love they harbour for their fellow countrymen but rather for their covetous nature and greed.
Decree 34 make it possible for the ibos to proceed to the north and fill all the available civil posts in the region on account of the indigenes low educational status. Ironsi was warned against such promulgation but he was egged on by the ibo advisers, he surrounded himself with. The same decree 34 made it possible for Yorubas to fill in positions in the North same as Igbos. You talk as if this decree was promulgated for Igbos alone. Funnily enough, when this same Decree 34 was removed by the Aburi agreement, not one Yoruba person protested when Gowon and his fellow Northerners enacted a far worse Decree a few months later where they abolished the 4 regions and created States and took away resource control. The Yorubas only know how to talk if it is the Igbos that did something, but if the almighty Nothern masters do the same, they will quickly go deaf and mute. |

Demmocrats: Whether Youraba, Hausa or Igbo we are all one. When we start seeing our selves as one and forget about the hate which our fathers and grand fathers created among themselves because of different tribe we will move forward. Biafra, Southwest and Fulani-Hausa slave mentality was creatd by our fathers which has destroyed us, why should we inherent sins of the father and causing so much division.
#One Nigeria. How are we one? What made us one? Because Lord Lugard came from Britain to say so? Why were we not one before Lugard came? Don't make me laugh. We have never been one and Nigeria is the same 'unity by force' it was when Lugard created it in 1914. I'm quite surprised that a learned man like Awo Said "starvation is a legitimate weapon of war". Today, using starvation as an instrument of war ir regarded as a war crime at the ICC. The one thing that I'm happy about is that Awolowo never achieved his life long dream of being president of Nigeria. He was frustrated from the position by the very Northerners he served so diligently. |

StOla: The 1st coup was known as the coup of the 5 Majors, but in reality, it was the coup of the 7 Majors and 1 Captain.
Of the above 8 principal Characters, only 1 was Yoruba (Major Ademoyega), while the rest were all Igbos.
That some foot soldiers were Yoruba and Northerners is irrelevant to who masterminded the coup, and who ensured top Eastern politicians and officers were left untouched except the Quartermaster General, Col. Unegbu. Major Ademoyega, Captain Adeleke and Lt Oyewole were all major participants of the coup. There is even talk that Lt. Colonels Fajuyi and Banjo were aware of the coup at the planning stage and gave their blessing. So how can it be an Igbo coup? Because the Igbos were the majority? That's not good enough to term it an Igbo coup |

For what reason was Brig. Ademulegun and Maimalari killed?
For what reason was Col. Ralph Sodeinde and Mohammed Kur killed?
For what reason was Lt Col. Yakubu Pam and Abogo Largema killed?
Olutoye was enlisted as the very 1st university graduate officer of the Nigerian Army in 1956. He was never commissioned with a junior like Nzeogwu or Obasanjo. All those people were killed for nothing just like Okonweze. However, this thread is about Okonweze and not about Abogo Lagema or Maimalari. When you kill others, you rationalize and justify it, when they revenge you cry victim!?? SMH for these people! This type of reasoning is stale. It was not an Igbo coup. Major Ademoyega, Captain Adeleke and Lt Oyewole are not Igbos. Second, those who carried out the coup were already detained, why kill those who were not involved like Okonweze? Third, if you justify the killing of Okonweze because of Nzeogwu then you should justify the killing of IBB and Buhari because both men were coup plotters who killed people too. |

He murdered Ahmadu Bello in his residence and later on boasted about it in a video clip, his action led to the death of millions of his people, Kaduna is the worst nigerian in the history of Nigeria. Nzeogwu may have led the first coup, but he was definitely not the founding father of disunity. Nigeria was disunited long before Nzeogwu came along. Theere was serious political problems when Nzeogwu conducted his coup. |
