The FRSC claims about 5,000 lives have been lost on Nigerian roads due to tyre burst from 2010 till date. This has necessitated them to intensify the effort on sensitization programmes and ultimate ban of the use of food-based and substandard sealing pastes mostly used by Vulcanizers to fix tyres across the country.

The Corps Marshal - Boboye Oyeyemi’s interest to intensify this sensitization and enforcement campaign is further reinforced by the House of Representatives’ Resolution (HR.65/2016) to curb the influx of substandard tyres, non-lubricant rims and fake tyre sealing pastes, as well as the use of food-based products on tyres by vulcanizers.

According to him, the Corps Marshal has stressed that Vulcanizers are culpable for the way and manner they improperly handle tyres during repairs, he added that the dangerous practice of engaging fake sealing pastes is capable of causing rusts on rims as well as wears on tyres.

He already met with The Vulcanizers’ Association to intimate them of their inappropriate and dangerous conducts.

This particular 2004 Lexus RX330 seemed to be in pristine condition and the price was irresistible at a price tag of N2 million. I quickly reached for my phone to make enquiries and schedule a possible inspection. The seller sounded polite as he answered my questions, but my curiosity grew into suspicion when I asked for the location of the car. "Benin City, Edo State" he said.

My next question was directed at probing the reason for a major discrepancy in the vehicle's location as the online advert on was showing Alimosho, Lagos. After explaining that the vehicle was transferred to a car lot in Edo State, the guy stunned me by saying they would bring the car to Lagos for inspection on the condition that I transfer 10,000 Naira for fuel.

Despite telling him that I wasn't interested anymore, you won't believe this guy kept calling me back in a bid to convince me to pay that money; I laughed in my mind "this guy wan play sharp one for hin fellow car dealer".

I thought to share this as some of us may be gullible and fall for this simple cheat code.

The rate at which container trucks now fall in Lagos State has become alarming as a 40ft container loaded with stationaries fell at Ijora Olopa, Lagos yesterday. According to Lagos State Emergency Agency, investigation at the scene revealed that the cause of the accident was due to reckless driving by the container truck driver as he was trying to make a fast U turn.

LASEMA’s Emergency response team and LASTMA officials have been able to evacuate the container off the road and no one was injured.

The truck driver who parked his truck in the middle of the highway along Ore -Ijebu ode expressway, got down with his mat and began to pray in front of his truck. This caused traffic on the highway and other commuters who found it amusing came down from their vehicles and began to take pictures.

This abandoned Lamborghini Countach which has an estimated price tag of N200million ($500k) was spotted in Abule Egba, Lagos by an instagramer @teatealorpeyy.

This automotive icon is powered by a V12 mid-engine accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 295 km/h (183 mph). The Countach was produced between 1974 and 1990; it is currently regarded as a rare vintage car.

It reminds me of the cars in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall.

Please be informed that the Lagos State Government via Ministry Of Transportation – Vehicle Inspection Service has commenced the usage of Electronic Billing System.

The minimum fine for an offence is N20,000 and concessions cannot be granted as it were in the times of the manual billing system. The E- Billing System commenced today and the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) will be checking vehicle licences, road worthiness certificate, car insurance certificate, valid driver’s licence, fire extinguisher, cracks on windscreens, broken head lamps etc.

It is therefore imperative to sensitize your friends and families to ensure their vehicle papers are up-to-date and kept in their vehicles. Company and commercial drivers MUST be certified by Lagos State Driving Institute at Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) yard, Oshodi.

If you are processing your driver’s licence, do not drive until you have been captured and provided with the temporary licence.

My custom paper documents shows VIN for car A, but on my car it's VIN B....can that be a mistake on the part of custom officers that did the registration?

The custom officers will most likely use the VIN on the bill of lading and the bill of lading was prepared at the car's country of origin. Therefore, the error did not emanate for the Nigeria Customs but they ought to have spotted and corrected the discrepancy.

The VIN check is carried out by accessing a pre-stored data usually through Carfax or Autocheck.

The 17 digit car VIN is required to carryout this check. The VIN is located at the lower part/driver's side of the car's windshield and on the B-pillar on the drivers side.

Mercedes Benz dazed the whole world as they unveiled the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6.

“It’s 18.5-feet long (six meters), can achieve 750 horsepower, hit 60 mph under four seconds and it’s electric” said Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes’ parent company Daimler AG, during the launch event in Carmel, California.

It has an enormous grille on the front, 24-inch rims, a split rear window and distinctive Gullwing doors (which open upwards). If the strongest charger is used the vehicle can reportedly power up to a range of 62 miles in just five minutes. Inside is a giant touch screen and the upholstered surfaces contain miniature “body sensor displays” that scan the passengers and track their vital functions etc.

The padded leather seats have massage functions and sensors embedded in the upholstery also record internal light, the color of the occupants’ clothing and the ambient temperature. “This information can be used to trigger new, emotional lighting effects in the interior,” say the makers.
