Pape Souare who is a Senegal and Crystal Palace defender, crashed his Benz G63 AMG on Sunday near Heathrow Airport in West London.

The player, according to the club, has sustained injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and will remain in hospital to receive treatment.

A club spokesman said on the club's website, "Crystal Palace Football Club regret to confirm that Pape Souare was yesterday involved in a car accident and taken to a hospital in London". He explained further that the club is liaising closely with the hospital on his progress and they obviously wish him a speedy recovery.

I was running late for an appointment yesterday morning and every microsecond was of essence. I made a u-turn at the old toll-gate to go into Alausa, Ikeja through Seven-up.

Lo and behold, there was traffic and the cause took me aback. It was a VIO check point in front of Seven-up gate and the officials had used up a whole lane, therefore, forcing all vehicles to maneuver through the other lane. Is this the same VIO that is meant to maintain sanity on our roads? Is this the same VIO that is meant to help prevent road accidents? Why do we keep doing this to our great nation?

It is obvious that Governor Ambode of Lagos State is determined to reduce the level of traffic congestion as the state government commissions the second lay-by at Oworonshoki.

The lay-by was commissioned by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Prince Anofi Olanrewaju Elegushi. He explained that the project became imperative due to the constant gridlock on the 3rd Mainland axis.

This new development is expected to create orderliness and reduce travel time for vehicles that are inbound 3rd Mainland Bridge.

Wonders shall never end as a Russian driver got fined in Moscow because of his car's shadow. The driver was fined for allegedly crossing a full white line on the Moscow Ring Road, however, the photos taken by traffic cameras showed that only his vehicle's shadow had crossed the line.

The man also published images of his apparent "violation" taken by the traffic cameras and wrote on a website drive2.ru "Cameras want us to pay fines even if car shadows violate traffic rules"

Following a complaint to the Traffic Police, they have promised to annul the fine after explaining that the incident happened as a result of a technical glitch.

Uber has enjoyed a good ride in Lagos, but it may be set for a few bumps.

During its two years in operation, the ride-hailing app has, Uber says, “facilitated” over a million trips. After its first 16 months, Ebi Atawodi, general manager of Uber Nigeria, claimed the service grew 30% faster in Lagos than it did in its first 16 months in London. Despite the rise of competitors, Uber has remained popular with many Nigerians. But a recent regulation drive by the state government in Lagos could throw a spanner in its wheels.

The state government has reiterated its intent to regulate taxi operations using a franchise system. It enshrined this in a law back in 2012, and adopted the corresponding regulation at the start of this year, but up until now there’s been no attempt to enforce it.

Under this model, taxi operators must register with the state and get a franchise license. Franchises can include up to 50 cars at a cost of 100,000 naira (about $320) per car. That’s a problem for Uber, which depends on private cars signing up to work with its service and doesn’t require them to register with the state.

The state’s newfound enthusiasm for its own regulations is likely to mean a crackdown on Uber drivers. They’re usually easy to spot since they tend to drive newer cars and to carry GPS devices, a rarity in Lagos. Already, there are reports of frequent stops by law enforcement officers. An Uber spokesperson told Quartz the company is “actively working with the regulators” to shape its future in Nigeria. But in the short term its service could be disrupted.

While the state claims its new regulations are meant to increase the safety and security of passengers, they could just be a way for it to make some extra revenue. Lagos’s stance is in contrast to the position of federal lawmakers, who earlier this year, passed a resolution to integrate ride-sharing into national transport policies. Though non-binding, the resolution is a “first step towards legislation” which could compel states across the country to embrace ride-sharing policies.

It was 2009 when I first noticed two cars parked on the same side of the road. It seemed absurd and I thought it was a one-off as the reason for such style of parking was difficult to fathom.

Today, triple parking has become trendy as some drivers display their driving prowess by gluing their cars to another car that is already parked.

It is absolutely disheartening because this is a major cause of avoidable traffic congestion as well as road accidents.

This style of parking is usually found around parties, beer parlours, taxi parks, churches etc.
