reel14:You can drop the VIN on my VIN check thread in car talk section. |
berniceunice:The most important one to you is the 10th character which states the year of the car. |

harmbhrosz:Hello Harmbhrosz, It depends on many factors which include budget and age of the car you are buying. Mileage below 100,000 miles is very reasonable but above 150,000 miles may not be a good idea. |

philchudi:Vehicle Identification Number: It is a seventeen digit alphanumeric code that the manufacturer assigns to a specific vehicle. It can be used to check the history of the car from the date of manufacture to the date the car was shipped to Nigeria. |
The benefit of doing a VIN check in Nigeria before you purchase a car can never be overestimated. It will help save your hard earned money and most importantly your time amongst others. I have always known that some of us would do anything to sell our cars. However, the extent of this malicious act has grown from unreasonable to unfathomable. You won’t believe what my eyes have seen as I am currently trying to get a 2007-2010 Camry for a client. The issues vary from flooded cars, rolled back mileage and extreme accidents to jalopy cars that look picture-perfect online. The car that drove me to the brink was a 2009 tokunbo Camry on OLX for N2m which looked good enough coupled with the usual hype from the seller. Nevertheless, something seemed amiss because the price was too good. As usual, I requested for the car’s VIN to determine its history before going for a physical inspection. The disastrous history report revealed it was sold as scrap/destroyed car in USA and shipped to Nigeria 4 years ago, but the seller misrepresented this car to be a clean tokunbo, despite the fact that it has been registered and used in Nigeria for 3 years. These same reasons compelled me to start importing all my client’s cars from the USA and Canada in 2011, it has been cheaper and less stressful as the entire process from purchase to delivery is usually done from the comfort of my home. Fast forward to 2016, looking inward has become inevitable due to the sky-high dollar exchange rate. Therefore, clients with constrained budget have to settle for tokunbo cars while some prefer the Nigerian used cars. Finally, when a deal seems too good to be true, then you need to be more careful e.g when the price is too fanimorous, the low mileage is not commensurate to the age of the car (e.g a 2001 model regular car will hardly have a mileage of 75,000 miles), when the seller wants you to take the car after paying 60% deposit while the balance will be spread over 3-6 months (in this case, the car is probably a Nigeria used car presented as tokunbo and it’s not worth more than your initial deposit so the balance you’ll be paying is extra profit to the seller) etc. Let’s all make Nigeria great again. http://autojosh.com/1-step-you-must-never-skip-before-you-buy-any-car-in-nigeria/

bebe2:For UK, It may be more of a business decision due to the volume of Nigerian's they welcome into their country daily. |
bebe2:Hello Bebe2, You need to back it up with an international driving licence. |
Driving in another man's land could be an adventure to some while being a nightmare to others. In order to have an effortless experience, it is important to have an understanding of the driving laws that apply to such land. Therefore, you need to equip yourself with the following information on the requirements for driving in Nigeria before you do: 1) You must be familiar with the Nigeria road network or use a GPS (Global Positioning System) for easy navigation. 2) Show evidence that you are permitted to import your vehicle temporarily (if any) into Nigeria. 3) Ensure that the vehicle you are driving is road worthy and has the following : * Vehicle licence. * Vehicle Inspection Certificate. * Proof of Ownership Certificate. * Road Worthiness Certificate. * National Vehicle Identification Tag * Any other vehicle document that is deemed to be relevant. 4) Ensure that such vehicle carry the number plate of the country of origin affixed to the appropriate spaces at the front and rear of the vehicle. 5) If the vehicle is to remain in Nigeria for more than 90 days, you are required to change the number plate to a Nigerian number plate. 6) Ensure that you have an international driving permit issued from your country as well as your country's normal driving licence. 7) If you intend to drive in Nigeria for more than 30 days, you must obtain the appropriate Nigeria driver's licence for the category of your vehicle. Ensure you have details of your host, local agent of the organization you are representing and your country's embassy in case you miss your way. We'd like to hear your experience while driving in a foreign country. http://autojosh.com/driving-requirements-for-tourists-and-visitors-in-nigeria/

toludadon:This seems complicated @ 17 digits in 2 different locations. Is yours Thailand, Brazil or South Africa? All the Mitsubishi L200 I know only have a 10 digit Model number in the bonnet area you mentioned and the 17 digit number is located in the rear wheel well on the passenger's side. You can provide pictures covering some part of the numbers in order to give us a better understanding. |
toludadon:Hello Toludadon, They are usually the same. You are correct if the number you picked from your bonnet is expressly written as "chassis number". However, the 17 digit number is the accepted chassis number in Nigeria except for cars that don't have it. |

The recently concluded Eleko Motor Race witnessed the presence of many Nigerians as well as celebrities such as Alibaba and Freeze. It is a welcomed development as we continue to improvise as a country, with entertainment concepts created by Nigerians for Nigerians and tourists. Tourism in Nigeria is certainly experiencing a geometric growth. However, some forces are out there to decelerate this progress and their bad deeds are well explained in the following Instagram posts by AlibabaGCFR: FIRST POST One of the reasons tourism will have a hill to climb is the “Omo onile” factor. Where everyone who has not been empowered by education, sees anything that they encounter as an opportunity to get a piece of the pie. So, we are on this #ElekoMotorRace#offroadrally and the indigenes claim they had to have been consulted and settled before the race began. “But we got local GOVT approvals.” No luck. In fact they got more furious. Then after some ‘settlements’ that I was not privy to, we were given passage. 1km later, there is another stop. There is a festival of a deity. And no woman is supposed to see the procession. Even when there were village women in all shades of UnCloth (what will you call loin cloths barely covering their thighs) Interestingly, after they came to another “settlement”, the eyes of the deity were converted to unisex. And we were allowed to pass… Anyway, the unnecessary stops just highlighted the problem education or lack of it can cause this key but untapped sector. Have you tried to shoot a music video in some parts of Nigeria? You will beg in 3D… Settle in HD and be set back at a minimum of 4K per location. SECOND POST I was so pissed today!!! Some villagers will be asking for settlement before an off road race can take place. Off Road race oooo! Can you imagine if it was an election? This was exactly what robbed us in Warri of Shell. Do you know what the economic impact the exit of Shell had on the whole of Warri, Aladja, Agbarho, Sapele, BENIN, Asaba, Ughelli, Oleh, Koko,…? And you can tell from the way the guys were talking that they could not see the impact of the awareness that the race was bringing. I am beginning to suspect that Mungo Park was drowned by “Omo Onile” in River Niger. I demand an investigation! These people rob themselves of development. And begin to shout marginalization. I agree that the race would not put food on their tables, but if the race grew and the route becomes a part of the #EMR would they benefit? I'd like to bring to our attention the new law on vehicle parking in Lagos State which was recently implemented (I believe) by the Lagos State Government and enforced by Lastma. Vehicles parked by the side or on the curbs of some major roads now have their vehicle number plates removed. The owner of the vehicle is then arraigned before a mobile court in absentia and fined. During the visit of the Chief Security Officer of my establishment to the mobile court last week, he witnessed many motorists who were sentenced to 2 weeks of community service at the Gbagada General Hospital or a payment of a fine of N15,000.00 or both. Both processes of appearance in court and payment of the fine at Skye Bank, Alausa branch are tedious. Please let's avoid the embarrassments this could cause and stay on the right side of the law. Credit: Sis Agba. THIS IS A NARRATION FROM A VICTIM I had a very terrible experience yesterday morning on my way to work and I want people to learn from it. At about 10 am, I parked in front of a bank to use the ATM, I had barely come down from the car when I saw somebody videoing the cars parked in front of the bank. By the time I opened my car, I saw a fleet of Lagos state branded vehicles and so many people came down and started removing the plate number of cars including mine. I came down from the car and forcefully tried stopping them from removing my plate number, explaining to them that I just came to use the ATM, then one of the police officers said to me "madam it's beyond us o, the Chief Judge is in that bus". I then went to the chauffeur driven beautiful bus in the fleet where I was told by the police escort to go and talk to the team on the road. The vehicles' plate numbers were removed, including mine and they put a paper in front of my car to come to Alausa. Before going to Alausa, I went in to see them in the bank and I asked them, is this how you allow your customers to be maltreated ? They responded and I quote "they don't even know how to go about this Lagos revenue drive". On getting to Alausa, we were asked to wait, that the Chief Judge to sit at the mobile court is still on the road and they had an overflown office filled with people . To cut my long story short, they already opened a case file for each of their so called offenders and they advised me to plead guilty before the magistrate otherwise the case will be adjourned till further notice "can you imagine that"? Eventually, I was charged guilty with a fine of N15k or an option of one week community work and some had N20k or N25k fine as the case maybe with an option of one month imprisonment etc. A lady said she was inside Tantalizer in Ogba when her plate number was removed and both the prosecutor and the defender's lawyers were provided by the State Government. Can you beat that? All they were saying was "Lagos state needs to generate more revenue". My questions are: Must our dear State generate its revenue at the expense of its citizens? Where are we then supposed to park when visiting banks, eateries and shops? As we are meant to believe that most of the available spaces in front of the banks and other buildings are Government setbacks. These questions and more need answers. Forewarned is forearmed as they were also spotted on Ajose Adeogun in Victoria Island this week. Nigeria is really waking up fast. http://autojosh.com/lagos-state-new-revenue-generation-drive-read-this-if-you-dont-want-to-be-a-victim/

pattybf:Hello Pattybf, These Benz cars were probably sold in the Japanese market and the VIN report is not coming up. Regards. |
spencekat:Hello, This VIN is invalid. A car VIN does not contain letter I, O or Q and your VIN has the letter I in it. It is better to copy the VIN from the source and paste here in order to avoid any mix up or you can snap the VIN with your camera. I await your feedback. Regards |
Explorers:Thanks. Seen. The price will skyrocket when it is converted to Naira at an exchange rate of 350 Naira per Dollar and custom duty is not making it any easy. |
Mailthaddeus:Lol. Nah dollar rate o. The price will still increase going forward now that Nigeria Customs has started using 282 Naira per Dollar as import duty exchange rate as against 197. |
2016 BMW 750i Xdrive. This N58 Million On Wheels Was Spotted In Lagos. This 2016 BMW 750i xDrive was spotted on the streets of Lagos and I am sure many of us will be wondering why anyone should pay such humongous amount for a car that depreciates faster than the stock market crash of 2008. Despite the downsides, we would agree that this is one German Machine that is worth every penny after reviewing its features and specifications… This Bimmer comes with a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine which produces 445-horsepower propelling this class leader from 0 to 100 kph in 4.3 seconds with smooth shifts from its 8-speed transmission that has both automatic and Manual shift modes. With a fuel tank capacity of 20.6 gallons (78 litre), it consumes an average of 19 mpg. Other features and specifications include: 1) Standard WiFi hotspot: We are not even done with having Wifi in our homes and some people are already enjoying it in their cars. This mean you can complete your office task on your laptop while cruising at 120 kilometres per hour from Lagos to Abuja. 2) Massaging Seats: No more Thai or Indonesian massage at Four Point by Sheraton as your car gives you all that treat. 3) Display Key: It is amazing that a car key has more features than some mobile phones. These features ranges from checking the fuel level and controlling all the vehicle windows to checking the complete status of the car which includes the next routine service date. 4) Leg Rest for the rear passengers: This enables you rest your legs on the back of the front seat making you feel at home as all the road bumps are neutralized by the double tube shock absorbers. 5) Carbon Core Construction: The 7 series is built with a carbon core which is Stronger than steel yet 50% lighter, thereby increasing its durability and efficiency, whilst achieving reduced weight. 6) Wireless charging (Qi charging): This eliminates wires and distractions when connecting your phones to the car charger manually. This wireless charging system is also used to charge the car keys. 7) Full-Color Head-up Display: Several information about the 7 Series is displayed on the windscreen in order to prevent the driver from taking his eyes off the road. Engine Stop/Start: Don’t go opening your car bonnet and disconnecting the engine cables if your car engine goes off when you come to a complete stop at a junction. This feature turns of the engine temporarily to reduce fuel consumption and emission.9) Rear-Seat Entertainment: It comes with a 7″ Touch Command Tablet that enable you to control several functions from the back seat without asking and distracting the driver. 10)iDrive 5.0: This screen which is located in front of the driver uses gesture control, which means you can operate it with your body movement without actually touching it. Tell us if you will buy or ditch this car and why… See more pictures.. http://autojosh.com/ridez-in-nigeria-2016-bmw-750i-xdrive-this-n58-million-on-wheels-was-spotted-rolling-on-the-streets-of-lagos/
