https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Buahari-Commission-BRT-Bus-Lagos-6-600x400.jpg Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has responded to the plea by Lagosians with the addition of Obalende-Oshodi-Obalende route to the existing LBSL bus routes and operations. The Managing Director of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, who disclosed this some days ago at Ikeja, said the introduction of the Oshodi-Obalende route is the response to the request by Lagosians calling for the extension of bus operation to the route in order to ease transportation challenges being faced daily by masses that ply the route. While revealing that the bus fare for the new route is N200 (Two Hundred naira only) per one-way trip, he disclosed that LBSL management has introduced Point of Sales (POS) machine for the purchase of bus tickets on some routes across the metropolis. According to him, the POS ticketing is presently available on Oshodi-Obalende-Oshodi, Berger-Oshodi-Berger, Berger-CMS/TBS-Berger, Oshodi-CMS/TBS-Oshodi routes and it is expected to be extended to others very soon. Recall that the Lagos Bus Services Limited, which started operation on 1st of May, 2019 after the formal commissioning of the Oshodi bus terminal, commenced operations on five routes and has so far transported about 600,000 passengers with a fleet of 85 new buses. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oshodi-apapa-expressway.jpg?x84396 The operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) has impounded 21 vehicles and arrested 9 drivers for driving against traffic on Oshodi-Apapa expressway. The Chairman of the Taskforce and leader of the enforcement team, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that there have been serious complaints from motorists and residents that activities of the one-way drivers were causing heavy traffic gridlock on daily basis along the axis. According to the Chairman, “The 21 impounded vehicles and 9 arrested drivers ran into our enforcement team while we were returning from a clean-up exercise at Eric Moore and Orile-Iganmu along Lagos-Badagry Expressway”. “Honestly speaking, it is painful that with the high level of enlightenment campaigns and several warnings by the government, motorists, including private car owners are still driving against the flow of traffic and thereby obstructing on-coming vehicles and causing gridlock along Iyana-Isolo”, he lamented. CSP Egbeyemi, however, advised the 12 drivers, who left their cars and absconded in order to evade arrest, to report immediately to the Agency. Meanwhile, those arrested have been arraigned before Magistrate (Mrs) Salau Omobola of the Lagos State Mobile Court for driving in the direction prohibited by law (one-way) punishable under Part (III) item 27 of the ‘Transport Sector’ of Lagos State 2018. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/automated-valet-parking.jpg ...Without Human Supervision. A major milestone has been reached by Bosch and Daimler as the two companies have obtained approval for the world's first fully automated driverless (SAE Level 4)¹ parking function to be officially permitted for everyday use. In order to save time and ensure safety, the system allows drivers request their cars to go park themselves just by tapping an app on their smartphones. Once the driver has left the parking garage to go about their business, the car drives itself to an assigned space and parks. When it's time to leave, the car returns to the drop-off point in exactly the same way. This driverless parking is called Automated Valet Parking (AVP). The success of the project dates back to 2015 when Bosch and Daimler started developing the fully automated driverless parking. In 2017, a real demonstration was presented to the public for the first time at the Mercedes-Benz Museum parking garage in Stuttgart. Starting in 2018, museum visitors could use the parking service live and share their experience while being accompanied by trained safety personnel. The project has now been approved by relevant authorities in Baden-Württemberg. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/automated-valet-parking-2.jpg “This decision by the authorities shows that innovations like automated valet parking are possible in Germany first,” says Dr. Markus Heyn, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH. “Driverless driving and parking are important building blocks for tomorrow’s mobility. The automated parking system shows just how far we have already progressed along this development path.” “This approval from the Baden-Württemberg authorities sets a precedent for obtaining approval in the future for the parking service in parking garages around the world,” says Dr. Michael Hafner, the head of drive technologies and automated driving at Daimler AG. “As a pioneer in automated driving, our project paves the way for automated valet parking to go into mass production in the future.” https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/automated-valet-parking-1.jpg This process relies on the interplay between the intelligent parking garage infrastructure supplied by Bosch and Mercedes-Benz automotive technology. Bosch sensors in the parking garage monitor the driving corridor and its surroundings and provide the information needed to guide the vehicle. The technology in the car converts the commands from the infrastructure into driving maneuvers. This way, cars can even drive themselves up and down ramps to move between stories in the parking garage. If the infrastructure sensors detect an obstacle, the vehicle stops immediately. As a safety feature, turquoise lighting stays illuminated to notify passers-by and other road users that the vehicle is driving itself. Soon, interested parties will be able to experience the innovative valet parking service live in daily operation in the Mercedes-Benz Museum parking garage in Stuttgart without additional supervision from a safety driver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1Y1ChYabWw https://autojosh.com/world-first-bosch-and-daimler-driverless-parking Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun |

https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/faan-mmia-apron-gate-1.jpg?x84396 The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has assured travellers and airport users that new measures are already being put in place to enhance security at the nation’s airports. The Managing Director of the Authority, Captain Hamisu Yadudu made the disclosure at a press conference held at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano today, while addressing the media on yesterday’s unfortunate incursion incident at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. The MD noted that the violator, who is suspected to be a Nigerien has been identified as Mr. Usman Adamu and has been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for further interrogation. Stating that the Authority takes full responsibility for the breach, Capt Yadudu noted that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Transport and Honourable Minister of State, Aviation has already assisted in the award of contracts for perimeter fences at the airports, including detection devices and CCTV cameras with infrared capacity for night operations. He added that plans are also underway to erect observation towers this year, so as to enable proper monitor and coverage of the airport. Capt Yadudu noted that already, FAAN has a security patrol/escort team in place for arriving and departing aircraft but another joint patrol team involving FAAN AVSEC, the Police and the Military has also been constituted to assist in protecting the sanctity of our airside and ensuring the security of live operations and the travelling public using our facilities. As a dynamic industry, Capt Yadudu admitted that globally, new threats are springing up daily and the criminal elements are fashioning out ways to circumvent security architectures. He however added that it was up to FAAN to continuously improve on security and put adequate measures in place to mitigate the threats. He noted that FAAN will continue to work with relevant stakeholders and the regulatory agencies towards ensuring safe operations at our airports. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/buhari.jpg According to a report by Daily Trust, there is worry in the automobile industry following the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to decline assent to the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) Bill. This is coming after four years of legislative fireworks before the 8th National Assembly passed the Bill in 2017. Almost two years after the Bill was passed by the National Assembly, there was uncertainty in the industry when the President failed to assent to the Bill. Industry players and stakeholders were shocked when Buhari recently declined assent to the Bill. No reason was given for the decision. To the stakeholders, the President’s decision to assent to the Bill was an anti-climax in the efforts to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) through the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) into the industry. According to Daily Trust, the President declined assent into the Bill following a comment from the Nigeria Investment and Promotion Council (NIPC) querying the “pioneer status” granted to manufacturers. Popular showbiz impresario -Ayo Makun, famously known as AY recently took delivery of two vehicles. The hardworking comedian earlier today published a photo of himself posing in front of one of the vehicles - a Lexus LX570. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/ay-comedian-Lexus-2.jpg The LX 570 is certainly comfort defined. When inside, the exterior noise is nicely muted, and the seats are plush without being too dainty. The LX 570 comes with a standard kit such as an adjustable electro-hydraulic suspension system, a permanent four-wheel-drive system with dedicated low-range gearing. The drive mode is in five different off-road variants: Rock, Rock and Dirt, Mogul, Loose Rock and Mud, and Sand. It has a very effective climate control system despite lacklustre front-seat ventilation. The Lexus LX 570 is an excellent machine for driving through urban jungles such as Lagos. This SUV is reportedly a 10th Year Wedding Anniversary gift from AY to his wife, Mabel. Source: https://autojosh.com/comedian-ay-poses-with-his-newly-acquired-lexus-lx570-photo/

Adolor Junction is a major bus stop along the Ugbowo-Uselu road in Benin City, the Edo state capital. Over the years, Adolor junction has become notorious for flooding whenever it rains. When it rains, Adolor junction accumulates non-flowing floodwaters. Flooding at Adolor junction dates as far back as close to three decades. In 2013, the Federal Government reconstructed the Uselu-Ugbowo road. It was generally expected that this intervention effort would bring to an end the flooding at the Adolor junction. Unfortunately, the design of the reconstructed expressway placed sections of the road at unequal levels. This did little to end the decades of flooding at Adolor junction. Flooding affects many parts of Benin City. The effects are mostly felt in Oredo and Ikpoba Okha where improper waste disposal and lack of functional drainages accentuates the impact of heavy rainfalls and worsen the flood situation. Flooding in Benin City area is also influenced by the flat and tableland nature of the area with a high water table. Deaths, from drowning, have been recorded at the popular Adolor junction in Benin City. Adolor junction is in Egor Local Government Area of Edo state. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Adolor-Junction-7.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Adolor-Junction-9.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Adolor-Junction-16.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Adolor-Junction-14.jpg See more photos Here Source: https://autojosh.com/this-spot-in-benin-city-has-been-suffering-flooding-for-almost-3-decades-photos/

https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_122128.jpg?x84396 Three days ago, Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi state, laid his mum to rest. Senator Dino is a 45 years old senator who represents Kogi West Senatorial district at the 8th National Assembly. The senator who’s known by many to be an ardent car enthusiast wanted to use something very special for the late mum’s burial. He opted for a Rolls Royce Ghost Hearse. You won’t often see a Rolls Royce used as a hearse. The car will easily pass for a Rolls Royce Ghost. However, Autojosh was able to identify the few giveaways that made us question the veracity of the Ghost. 7 Reasons why Autojosh says it’s a fake Rolls Royce Ghost Hearse: 1. Take a very good look at the Spirit of Ecstasy on the bonnet. It doesn’t seem like it can retract. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_122217.jpg?x84396 2. The rear suicide doors are gone. Rolls Royce and suicide doors goes hand-in-hand. We can’t see any rear suicide door on this hearse; just conventional doors more like what you’ll find in a Lincoln Town Car. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_135859.jpg?x84396 3. With our eagle-eyes, we can see that the bonnet has a different design and does not lap properly. The Rolls Royce guys are too meticulous to make such mistake in a car that takes about 6 months to build. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_122236.jpg?x84396 4. The side mirror is located at the A-Pillar instead of on the door. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_122424.jpg?x84396 5. The headlight/turn signals look fishy; they don’t fit properly. Remember how long it takes to build a Rolls Royce and how they aim for perfection. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_122316.jpg?x84396 6. The tyres do not fit properly into the wheel wells. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_122359.jpg?x84396 7. This is what an real Rolls Royce Ghost looks like and it shouldn’t loose its key design language because it’s being converted to a hearse https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/white-rolls-royce-ghost.jpg?x84396 Various reactions from social media; https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_134257.jpg?x84396 https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_134312.jpg?x84396 https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_20190717_134331.jpg?x84396 Are you a car enthusiast or you know much about Rolls Royce cars? https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-1.jpg The Oworonshoki waterfront is located at the mainland end of the Third Mainland Bridge. This spot was once notorious as a beehive of illegal dredging activities in Lagos. Then came Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. In 2017, the Ambode administration commenced the enormous “sand filling” – or land reclamation work, at that location. The objective was to transform the Oworonshoki Waterfront into one of the biggest transportation, tourism and entertainment hubs in Nigeria. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-15.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-3.jpg The location was being reclaimed in order to have an elegant Mega Jerry and Bus terminus built at that once blighted location. The Mega Jetty and Bus terminal will have entertainment and Tourism facilities like multiple Boutique, hotels, museums/art galleries, sport and recreational facilities as well as a 1000 capacity car park, based on the design master plan of the area. When completed, Lagosians would be able to embark on travel from Oworonshoki either via water, using the Jetty Terminal or via Ultra-Modern Buses departing from the New Bus Terminal. The Oworonshoki Jetty project is part of a grand design by the Lagos state government to reduce human and vehicular traffic gridlocks on the roads connecting the Island, Apapa and other parts of the Mainland. Will the current administration as led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu consider this project a priority or even continue with it? https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-4.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-5.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-11.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Oworo-Jetty-13.jpg Source: https://autojosh.com/would-sanwo-olu-continue-this-project-started-by-ambode-photos/

These days, one cannot commute on roads in Lagos state without beholding some bizarre sights. It is the sight of wet clothes hung up to dry along important roads in the state. Are these not clear signs of the huge crisis of homelessness in Nigeria's commercial capital? There is no available record of the nationality of the first person to drive a car in Nigeria. However, some sources offer an idea of who the first Nigerian to drive a car was. According to some records, the first Nigerian to drive a car was a certain philanthropist known as Thomas Jones. Thomas Jones – known famously as Tom Jones - was a wealthy Lagosian. He is best known for donating the first public library to the government of Lagos, which was at the time known as the Lagos Colony. The library opened in 1931, almost 20 years after Jones died. The exact date that Tom Jones first drove the car is not recorded, though, it was believed to have occurred before 1913. A popular street on Lagos Island, Lagos, was named after Tom Jones. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/First-Man-Drive-Car-Nigeria-8.jpeg Source: https://autojosh.com/who-is-the-first-nigerian-to-drive-a-car-photo/

The aircraft, a small plane carrying parachutists, crashed in northern Sweden soon after takeoff on Sunday. All nine people aboard were killed. The accident took place a little after 2 pm local time on Storsandskar island. According to Swedish media, some of the parachutists were seen trying to jump off the plane just before the crash. The crashed aircraft was a GippsAero GA8 Airvan, an Australian-made single-engine plane popular with parachutists. The flight took off from Umea airport. The cause of the crash was not yet known. The wreckage was found on Storsandskär island, just two kilometres from the airport, in the delta of the Umeå river on Sunday, and an official investigation has been launched by Swedish authorities. The plane did not carry a black box. As a result, investigators will have to rely on witness statements, an examination of the wreck, and onboard phones and tablets that registered height and position. The GippsAero GA8 Airvan is a single-engine plane measuring almost nine metres from nose to tail. It was made in Australia, by a company part of the Mahindra Group. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/skydiving-Plane-Crash-5.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/skydiving-Plane-Crash-1.jpg https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/skydiving-Plane-Crash-3.jpg Source: https://autojosh.com/skydiving-plane-crash-in-sweden-9-killed-photos/

https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/onne-seaport-4.jpg The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring the ease of doing business and safety of the country’s waterways. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Saliu Zakari, said this in Abuja when he received a delegation of Maersk led by Mr Hassan Bello, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC). According to Zakari, President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is putting various measures in place to ensure the safety and ease of doing business in the country. He said: ”Government is doing everything possible to bring all the agencies into one fold to ensure things are done with ease. “It is still in the process but will soon be completed and I assure you that within a very short time it will be materialised. “About two years now, the government approved an integrated system to ensure our waterways are well secured. “The contract have been signed and the various equipments have been brought into the country which will ensure our waterways are well protected. “Currently, a number of security personnel are being trained with this new equipment to be able to overlook what is happening in our water fronts. “I believe in the next few months the training would be completed and this will ensure protection of all ships coming into the country. On trade, the permanent secretary said the various stakeholders had been counseled and urged to ensure simple and transparent business requirements. Zakari said this would ensure that everyone coming into the country to do business clearly understood what was required of them. The Executive Secretary of NSC said the meeting was in furtherance of partnership in the country’s transportation industry. Bello said Maersk was the largest shipping company in Nigeria and they control a substantial part of the country’s train. “We have engaged them for a long time in the spirit of partnership for the interest of Nigeria.” The Managing Director, Maersk, Mr Gildas Tohouo, said the company had been partnering with the NSC to promote foreign direct investment in the country. “It is a partnership that speaks to openness to look at the ocean solutions and land side solutions. ”It has enabled trade and allowed Nigerian farmers producing Sesame in the North to bring their cargo to the coast and get them exported. “We are looking at avenues to improve export of non-oil produce in the country. ”There are some challenges and opportunities and we will like to understand what the Ministry is doing to enable that and where we, as partners, can tag in to move the agenda forward.” He urged the Ministry to look into the safety and security of the Nigerian waterways and various ways the company could collaborate with the government to further enable trade. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Duduzane-Zuma-son-of-jacob-zuma-free-car-accident.jpg A South African court on Friday found Duduzane Zuma, son of former president Jacob Zuma, not guilty of culpable homicide and negligent driving over a fatal car crash that killed a woman in February 2014. The court said that the prosecutors had failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt. Duduzan’s Porsche sports car collided with a minibus taxi on a highway in Johannesburg in February 2014, killing a woman and injuring at least one other. The defendant, who said he lost control of the car after a puddle caused him to aquaplane, initially avoided prosecution after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) decided not to charge him. The NPA reversed its decision in 2018 after a rights group threatened to prosecute him privately. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jacob-zuma-son-car-crash-2.jpg?x67694 “I accept the defence argument that none of the evidence presented established that there was anything that a reasonable man in the position of the accused on that night would have foreseen,” the judge at the Johannesburg court said. “The state failed to prove the case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt,” he said. Duduzane attended the court hearing with his father. He had pleaded not guilty. Jacob Zuma told state broadcaster SABC he was pleased by the ruling. Duduzane declined to answer questions from a SABC reporter. https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/jacob-zuma-son-car-crash.jpg?x67694 Source: https://autojosh.com/car-crash-jacob-zuma-son-free-duduzane/ |
https://autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/sanwo-olu-lagos-netherlands-water-transportation-768x399.jpeg Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborate with Netherlands on health, Education, technology, trade, tourism and infrastructure. Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this while playing host to the team led by Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade, Development and Cooperation, Mrs Sigrid Kaag who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, there are investment opportunities in Lagos, adding that the state is home to all, emphasising that the environment is friendly for foreign investors. he Governor thanked the team for the visit, and explained that Netherlands and Lagos share certain similar features such their locations below the sea level and technology which he said would assist in the bilateral arrangements to be discussed. He explained the reclamation effort at Eko Atlantic City when he said “You know there is a new development being done at Eko Atlantic City. That is a city that is risen on top of water. It is actually an engineering that we are really proud of. “With technology, you need to sand fill a lot of the place there, it went 12 meters down and has a height of about 9 meters up and that is twice the size of Victoria Island, we poured 10million cubic of sand to stabilize. It’s actually an engineering that we are really proud of,” Sanwo-Olu added. On water transportation, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted the state is working hard on taking enough space in the waters for dredging to ensure safety when full blown aquatic traffic begins. According to him, “We are doing a lot of reclamation to safeguard water safety, water transportation. I think these are some of the things we are dealing with to upscale our transport system. “What I am trying to present is total transportation in all but for available resources. Water transportation is for us and of course, we need to complete our rail projects too so that we can have easy movement of our people from one part of the city to the other,” he added. Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade, Development and Cooperation, Mrs Kaag congratulated the Governor on his emergence praising his work ethic since assumption of office.
