1. The idea for a 4th Mainland Bridge was first mooted in 2003 during the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.


2. The bridge is intended to provide the required transportation to complement the rapidly growing industrial activities on the Eti-Osa – Lekki –
Epe corridor of Lagos State.


3. The bridge is also intended to drastically reduce the volume of traffic on Eko, Carter and Third Mainland Bridges.


4. The conceptual design for the 4th Mainland bridge was done by renowned indigenous architecture studio NLÉ Works.


5. In 2008, the conceptual design for the 4th Mainland bridge was approved by the Lagos state government.


6. The Bridge was designed to be a 38km bridge and expressway with a design speed of 140 km.


7. The bridge is designed to be a two-level bridge. The upper level will function as a means for vehicular traffic. Its lower level will stimulate
and accommodate pedestrian, social, commercial and cultural interactions.


8. The Bridge would be made up of eight ( interchanges to facilitate effective interconnectivity between different parts of the State.


9. The proposed alignment passes through Lekki, Langbasa and Baiyeiku towns along the shoreline of the Lagos Lagoon estuaries, further
running through Igbogbo River Basin and crossing the Lagos Lagoon estuaries to Itamaga Area in Ikorodu. It then crosses the Itoikin road
and the Ikorodu – Sagamu Road to connect Isawo inward Lagos Ibadan Expressway at Ojodu Berger axis.

10. The bridge will be a Four-lane dual carriageway with each comprising 3 lanes and 2metres hard shoulder on each side.


11. The bridge will be constructed to have a generous median to allow for both future carriageway expansion and light rail facility.


12. No fewer than 800 structures and shanties have been identified to be destroyed to allow for the construction of the proposed 4th Mainland
Bridge project. The inhabitants of affected structures will be compensated and/or relocated.


13. The 4th Mainland Bridge will be the first construction project (long-span bridge and expressway) of this magnitude that would be
embarked upon without Federal funding.


14. The project would be funded solely (concession) by the private sector.



15. On 25 May 2016, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode signed an MoU with a consortium of firms and finance houses for the financing and
construction of the 4th mainland bridge.

16. The consortium of firms that were engaged to finance and construct the bridge included Visible Asset Limited, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc,
Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Access Bank, Hi-tech Construction Limited, Eldorado Nigeria Limited, Nigerian Westminster Dredging
and Marine and J.P. Morgan. Visible Assets Limited would be the coordinating firm.



17. The contract cost for the construction of the 4th Mainland Bridge was N844bn.



18. When completed, the Fourth Mainland Bridge would be will be the longest in Africa. Currently, the 6 October Bridge, Cairo, Egypt (20.5
km) holds the continent’s length-crown.




19. On 22 May 2017, the Lagos State Government announced that it had cancelled the contract it had signed to with a consortium of firms for
the construction of the 4 Mainland Bridge. The delay in commencement by the concessionaire was given as the reason behind the
termination of the contract.


20. On 17 Aprill 2008, the Governor Ambode-led government announced that a new concessionaire will be announced in June 2018. No
the concessionaire has since been announced.



21. On January 2019, during an election campaign, the Lagos State governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC),  Babajide
Sanwo-Olu said the construction of Fourth Mainland Bridge would not be his priority if elected.

Ever since Nigerian-born Speed Darlington on Instagram bought his 2010 Mercedes Benz E350, he has so much resorted to DIY. He barely takes his car to professionals for repair. He is his own electrician, his own panel beater and painter all joined together.

Earlier today, at the Iyana Ipaja axis of Alimosho local government area of Lagos state, some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the police were spotted making temporal repairs to some failed portion of the road there.

They engaged in the repair work in order to ease the free and easy flow of traffic.

The exercise was captured at the at Moshalashi round-about inward Alimosho.

Nigeria has joined the league of nations that have placed a ban on the operation of Boeing’s 737 Max 8 aircraft in their airspace.

The decision to ban the 737 Max 8 aircraft was made today during the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which held Wednesday in Abuja.

The Minister of Aviation (State), Hadi Sirika, made the announcement at the end of the weekly meeting.

The meeting was chaired by President the Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, Mr. Sirika said the decision follows the recent crash involving the aircraft type owned by Ethiopian Airline.

The crash killed all 157 persons on board on Sunday morning. The flight was heading for Nairobi, Kenya.

The Ethiopian crash occurred about five months after Indonesia’s Lion Air-operated Boeing 737 Max also crashed into the sea killing all on board after taking off.

He said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has already issued an advisory statement saying “that nobody should fly out of Nigeria or into Nigeria using the 737 Max pending the determination of the actual cause of the crash in Ethiopia and also pending the outcome of the response of the manufacturer themselves which is Messrs Boeing”.


The minister said regardless of the enormous safety records of the 737, it has caused concern for the world of aviation.

“We have issued directives that no operators with 737 ( 8 ) or (9) should operate into or out of our airports,” he said.

One of history’s most significant cars is the Mercedes-Benz 770K Grosser used by Adolf Hitler.

The Mercedes-Benz 770, also known as the Großer Mercedes (German for “large Mercedes”), was a large luxury car built by Mercedes-Benz from 1930 to 1943.

The 1939 Mercedes-Benz 770 Grosser Offener Tourenwagen used by Hitler was the most technologically advanced car of its time.

The four-seat, 7.7-liter convertible had armour-plating and 30mm thick bulletproof glass. It was used for the state visit of Benito Mussolini in 1940.

The car was used several times by the German dictator for rallies across Europe.

The 20-foot long limousine was last used on parade at the old Reichstag on May 4, 1941, where Hitler celebrated the defeat of Yugoslavia and Greece.


This Mercedes-Benz 770K ‘Grosser’ or ‘Grand’ still bears the original registration IA148461 and chassis number of 189744.

The 770K was partially armoured was seized by the US Army after the war. It was not used much and ended up in France when it was discovered by American forces who, unaware of its history, used it as a military pool car for several months.

It was put under the control and use of the U.S Army Military Police stationed in Le Havre, France and eventually made its way to the United States.

It was donated to a local branch of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which used the car in parades.


The Grosser was then retired, parked and forgotten in garage storage until 1976.

Since then, it had had several American owners before being sold to a European collector in 2004.

Upon its rediscovery, it has appeared in several museums and displays since then including the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the Chicago Historical Antique Automobile Museum and the Canadian War Museum in Ottowa.


The car is the last of the eight original W150 770K models made and one of only five surviving cars today.

Out of the five, only three, including this particular car, is in private hands with the other two with museums worldwide.

As of November 2009, one of Hitler’s 770Ks was allegedly purchased for several million euros by an unnamed Russian billionaire.

Most people really get confused with the term overdrive. Some don’t know of it should be left on or off. There are still some people that will mistakenly press the button and then don’t know what to do afterwards.

First of all, let’s know the meaning of the overdrive in cars.

According to your mechanic, overdrive and OD for short is the highest gear in the transmission in an automatic car. It brings the RPM of the engine down at a given road speed to facilitate better speed and fuel efficiency. It also helps your car to provide the best performance in higher speed cruising.

For your normal driving, you should leave the OD switch on at all times. This will put your car in a mode that it will be able to automatically shift into top gear if necessary regardless of your selection. Leaving it on means that the ‘OD off’ light should not be on your dashboard.

Leaving the overdrive on will aid your car in utilizing its full range of transmission. It also helps your car with fuel efficiency and improved life span of your transmission.

As a fallout of Sunday’s ill-fated crash of a Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 MAX 8 belonging to Ethiopian Airlines, and a similar crash of the same plane model belonging to Lion Air on 29th October 2018 in the Java Sea, close to Indonesia, which killed all 189 people on board, some countries have started grounding the Boeing 737 MAX 8 in their fleet.

Earlier today, the Management of Air Peace - a key player in Nigeria's aviation sector -  released a statement to clarify issues concerning it recently placed order for 10 brand new Boeing 737 Max 8aircrafts.

According to the statement, the company is yet to take delivery of the aircraft as they are still at the design and configuration stage of the order.

The statement, signed by Chris Iwarah, the Corporate Communication Manager of Air Peace, stated that the clarification was necessary in view of numerous calls and enquiries on their response to the incidents involving the B737 Max 8 aircraft.

“Although it is premature to comment on the incidents, we wish to assure members of the flying public that we are closely following and monitoring developments on the issue as an airline prioritises the safety and well-being of our customers”, the statement read.

“While we keep engaging with our partners in this regard, we repose implicit confidence in Boeing and aviation authorities to capably and satisfactorily address all the issues if at the conclusion of ongoing investigations it is discovered that the challenge is with the B737 Max 8.”

We urge members of the flying public to continue to choose Air Peace as their preferred airline and trust us to always act in their best interest”.

On  September 2018, Air Peace announced that it had placed an order for 10 new 737 MAX planes.

On my way home today at around 8: 15 pm, as soon as I took a right turn from star gate towards old terminal, a policeman signalled me to stop.

As I stopped, he asked me to open the trunk of the car. I opened the trunk from inside and was about to step down, but the policeman said, “Ok Ok u may go.”

I started my car and started driving, but something struck my mind, as from my rear view mirror, I saw one of the policemen immediately on his phone.

I went a bit ahead and finding a good road light stopped my car. Switching off the engine I went and opened my car trunk.

Guess what…. I was shocked to see two small zip lock pouches with white crystals inside. I was numbed but just decided to throw it away and thanked God for saving me from such rascals who would have caught me in a drug related case.

The policemen must have informed their colleagues standing at the next checkpoint to get hold of so and so car number.

I was correct in my guess. Approx half a mile later I was stopped by another policeman. This time too I was asked to open my trunk.

Now I got down, went behind and opened the trunk physically. I’m sure they must have been puzzled and surprised that they did not find anything.

*Please don’t open your car trunk from inside, for anyone, even at Malls. Always step down and open the trunk with keys and permit searching under your own supervision.*

In Nigeria, people place stickers or emblems on their cars for diverse reasons.

For instance, some stickers or emblems are placed on cars to promote the profession, faith, political affiliations, alumni association, neighbourhood association, etc., of the owner of the car.

Some car stickers are known to earn motorists some advantages. For instance, some stickers or emblem can minimize harassment by the police, co-motorists, agberos or other street deviants on the road.

Some stickers can earn the driver some goodwill. Some inspire fear or respect for the car owner.

Some stickers are placed on cars to dignify the owner of the car.

Indeed, some stickers are powerful. With them on your car, it can get you to your destination faster by preventing harassment of any sort on the roads.

Since his emergence as the Governor of Delta state in 2015, the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has recorded quite a number of successes.

However, one area that he has excelled enormously is in the area of Urban Renewal and Road Infrastructure.

Within 4 years of his administration, over 317 road projects across the state have been embarked upon.

Interestingly, a significant percentage of these roads are located in rural areas. This was deliberately orchestrated in order to facilitate the movement of goods and services in and around Delta State.

These constructed roads feature large surface and underground storm drainage facilities. This was done to reduce the devastating effects of flooding and ensure the durability of the roads.

The portfolio of constructed and re-constructed roads by the Okowa administration include over 1,000km of roads and 344km of drains valued at over N243bn. Out of this number, 135 projects covering 405km of roads and 159km of drainage channels (alongside roads) have been completed.

In addition, some road construction projects were equally embarked upon in riverine communities with their difficult terrain.

Of particular interest are the Main Axial Road and Okerenkoko Township roads in Warri South West Local Government Areas as some of the flagship projects of this administration. There is also the on-going rehabilitation and Asphalt Overlay of the 19.7km Obutobo 1 –Obutobo 11 – Sokebolou – Yokori road in Burutu Local Government Area.

Other roads construction projects by the Okowa administration include the expansion and rehabilitation of sections of Oghara Junction to Otefe Road in Ethiope West LGA Oghara, access road to Jesse town, access road to Ugbuwangue new layout, construction of Okuomowa road to Osubi to link Efekpo lane, the construction of Ekete main road, off DSC Expressway, the rehabilitation ofEkreravwe/Orhoakpor/Isiokolo Road in Ethiope East LGA, Abraka Township Roads Phase 1, and the reconstructed 8.5km Ughelli-Afiesere-Ofuoma road in Ughelli North LGA.

Asaba, the Delta state capital, is not left out of this road construction fiesta.

Cable Point Dual Carriageway and several township roads have given the state capital a befitting face-lift.

Asaba residents now have alternative routes as against the usual hiccups that characterized the main access road, the Nnebisi road.

The recently commissioned Kwale -Ogume- Obiaruku and Ozoro -Oleh roads have greatly enhanced the economic activities of the people of those areas. High transportation fares coupled with excruciating pains of having to ply deplorable roads are becoming outdated.

Indeed, it is this landmark achievement of Ifeanyi Okowa in the road sector that has earned him the sobriquet- the Road Master.

It was a traffic scene that featured a Fire Service Vehicle.

Ostensibly, It was on an emergency run.

Its lights were flickering and the siren blaring.

Yet, it somehow succeeded in being stuck in a traffic gridlock along the Surulere Industrial Road/Adeniyi Jones road in Ikeja.

No motorist on that route seemed the least interested in giving way for the emergency vehicle to pass.

Sadly, the time was around 8 am, on a Monday morning – one of the most notorious rush hour periods in Lagos state.

For all we know, the Fire service truck could have been racing to a building that is being consumed by inferno.

The emergency vehicle was eventually left with no choice but to exercise patience and then go with the traffic flow.

This begs the salient question: why do we find it difficult to spare a minute to grant emergency vehicles access in traffic?

Are we that much in a hurry to get to our destinations in Lagos?

Or could it be distrust because of often abuse of such privileges by emergency workers?

Kids will always like to try out something new wherever they find themselves; they are very curious creatures.

Kids inside a car are not exempted from being this curious. There is this tendency in them to explore several things in the car. They would love to press buttons within their reach, they would as well love to pull levers etc.

Child lock safety feature is a very important feature. Especially for those who have kids on board.

You may not know what's going on in the back seat when you're driving. Just locking the doors might not be enough. Therefore, the child lock provides second level security.

It's advisable to always use the 'child locks' in your car when you have kids riding in the back seat.

Child lock if engaged makes it impossible for the car door to be opened from inside. The door can only be opened from outside. That means you'll only open it from outside when it's safe to do so .

Another good thing about this child lock is that it is put in such a place that when the door is shut, it can’t be accessed. It can be accessed only when the door is opened.

It is very simple to use.

Open the rear door and look for where it is indicated as seen in the picture above; then push the lever towards the lock position.
