The government of the Philippines is going hard on smuggled and undeclared cars across the country. In a post obtained by The Philippine Star that details how a Ferrari 360 Spider was bulldozed by the customs of the Philippines.

According to reports, the Philippine government is taking a hard stance on crime, including the illegal importing of vehicles into the country. We don’t have all the info on specific rules, but apparently, fees and taxes regarding vehicle imports are rather high which made car importers to find an illegal way of importing cars into the country. In the case of this Ferrari, it was reportedly imported under the guise of being auto parts as opposed to an actual car.

The video and photos show the 360 missing its front and rear fascias as well as the doors prior to being crushed. Whether this was done as part of the auto parts declaration is unclear, but in the end, it doesn’t matter. The poor Ferrari never stood a chance against the dozer.

Officials of the Philipines Government seek to send a stict message to smugglers that their efforts will result in the destruction of their goods, but people seek to question the motivation behind all this. Once the vehicles are confiscated, the smugglers already lose. Why not auction these vehicles and actually do something good with the money earned? That will serve as a source of revenue to the government instead of destroying the cars.

A Ferrari 360 Spider is estimated to cost about $153,500 that is 56million naira.

It has been said that what a man can do, a woman can do better. Nigeria would have been in mourning state if not for the brave and professionalism being employed by the Air Peace Pilot when the plane crash-landed. Many have been wanting to know the pilot who is behind the wheel of steel and the skills she employs.

A Nigerian pilot has shown how skilled she is at her job after she allegedly prevented a near crisis at Lagos airport - The pilot identified as Simisola Ajibola reportedly prevented an accident that could have been fatal after the plane crash-landed -

Ms Ajibola was flying the plane when the aircraft lost her tyres and crash-landed, it took an expert to be able to make an aircraft not to go into flames as only a miracle to salvage that situation. Ms Simisola, a pilot of a popular Nigerian airline, Air Peace has been celebrated for being an expert at her job. The captain was said to have prevented an accident that could have been fatal.

The pilot reportedly averted a fatal incident at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos state. It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 23, after the plane that Ajibola was flying lost her tyres during take-off, and crash-landed at the airport facility.

Simisola tolled her dad's path who was a pilot also. According to her bio-data, she watched her dad whenever he wears his uniform, this is where the inspiration to become a pilot comes from.

This is Lagos, the commercial nerve of Nigeria. Lagos is blessed with amazing landscapes, scenery and many more aquatic life. Popularly called a city that never sleeps because of its people that are always working 24/7.

Part of what makes Lagos fun, interesting is the different cities that are embedded into one and one of such is Yaba! Yaba is called the Silicon Valley of Africa, some have even coined the word, Yabacon (YV).

Yaba is a suburb of Lagos, Nigeria and located at the mainland of the Lagos. This area is already growing as Nigeria’s technology hub and a cluster of hundreds of banking institutions, educational institutions, technology and startup companies which steadily attracts angel investors, venture capitalists, enthusiasts and media people from all over the world. This cluster is the major reason many technology firms are considering opening up shops in Yaba. Close to the region is the Lagos Lagoon which lies on its south-western side, it empties into the Atlantic via Lagos Harbor, the main channel through the heart of the city, 0.5 km to 1 km wide and 10 km long.

Yaba is a part of Lagos Nigeria with many small towns and communities such as Onyigbo, Ebute Metta, Makoko, Sabo, Akoka, Abule Ijesha, Onike, Jibowu, and Iwaya among others.

Following the expiration of the 7-day abatement notices served on the owners of illegal shanties and traders along the Lagos - Badagry Express Road, the Lagos State Government on Tuesday commenced the cleanup exercise along the road.

The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam, who led the cleanup team in the company of the Chairman, Lagos Task Force CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi and others, explained that the exercise was in line with the Executive Order of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on zero tolerance for traffic gridlocks and indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Salaam stated further that the inter-ministerial committee drawn from ministries and agencies in Lagos State decided to commence the implementation of the Executive Order from the Badagry Express Road due to the prevalence of illegal structures on the right of way, roadside trading, oil bunkering and other criminal activities on the corridor.

While noting that the exercise also became imperative as part of preparations for the commencement of road works that will commence soon and the planned introduction of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along the corridor, he said the holistic exercise involved all the relevant stakeholders including the Lagos Taskforce, LAWMA, LASPARK and LAGESC amongst others.

Salaam urged the residents to desist from illegal activities on the right of way as well as stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the road, stressing that they should always make use of large garbage bins and containers stationed along the corridor.

Recall that the Lagos State Government had earlier served abatement notices on the owners/occupiers of the illegal structures along the corridor seven days ago, after which a press briefing was also held to inform all those concerned and residents in the area.

A glitch in Uber's systems on Wednesday led to people being charged 100 times what their ride should have cost. One user was charged $2,053 dollars (740,000 naira) on a ride instead of $20.53 (7401 naira).

The problems first surfaced in Washington, D.C. and San Diego but have since been reported as far afield as Paris. Similar issues have been reported for the UberEats service. Some customers received alerts from their banks about the charges or had their credit cards put on hold.

Uber says the issue has been resolved and apologized for the problems caused, reports the Washington Post: "We understand that this has been frustrating. There was a known issue that caused your authorization hold to be very high. Our team has already fixed this issue. Thank you so much for your patience."

The inflated fares will be corrected to the right amount, so customers don't need to call their bank to dispute the charges. However, the charges will continue to appear on credit card or bank statements "temporarily."

However, customers aren't happy about the charges or about Uber's lackluster customer service response:

In a world where there are options for cars, where carmakers are trying to retain and have loyal customers, all are doing all they could by giving their clients amazing features and specifications.

Ford is trying to show its rabid pickup truck fans that EVs aren't just for latte-sipping Tesla pilots. In an impressive demonstration of torque, an electric F-150 prototype towed 10 double-decker rail cars stuffed with 42 current-model F-150s, weighing over a million pounds (500 tons) in total. That shows promise that it could beat Ford's current towing champ, the 2019 F-150 with a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6, that's rated to tow 13,200 pounds (6.6 tons).

It's just a technology demo and of course there's a big difference between rated and maximum towing capacity. It does show, though, how electric motors can develop more torque than ICE engines, even at zero RPMs. There's a reason, after all, that most train locomotives are diesel-electric, with the diesel engine acting as a generator and the electric motor actually driving the train.

Ford has yet to reveal the battery capacity of the electric F-150, nor when it will hit the market.

When the F-150 EV does arrive, it will have to contend with Tesla, which is set to launch its own "cyberpunk" EV pickup pretty soon.

This is an Olympics for test of might for technology

In a bid to make 2020 Olympic memorable, fun and exciting, Toyota Motors have partnered with the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Team to make unique shuttle buses during the fiesta.

The automaker unveiled the shuttle bus which will be used at the event and it is called APM (Accessible People Mover), it is an all-electric vehicle it designed especially for next summer's event. The open-air, three-row vehicle can reach speeds of up to 12 mph and accommodate up to five passengers. Each car is powered by lithium-ion batteries and can run 100 kilometers on a single charge. A fleet of 200 APMs will be used to transport people to different competitions and the Olympic Village.

Unsurprisingly, Toyota's APM isn't meant for the masses. The open-air vehicles resemble large golf carts, rather than futuristic vessels of public transportation. There's a good reason why. Toyota intends it to be a "last mile" solution for staff and athletes, as well as visitors with accessibility needs -- such as the disabled, pregnant women, the elderly or families with small children. Each APM can accommodate a wheelchair or a stretcher and includes an access ramp.

This transportation solution will no doubt be vital for disabled athletes and guests.

Toyota is expected to reveal even more innovations ahead of the event, including a flying car that will light up the Olympic torch and robots that can bring food and drinks to guests. The automaker is even planning on building robots that can assist guests in wheelchairs. With any luck, the 2020 Olympic Games will be a demonstration of technology's real-life impacts -- and not just futuristic whimsy.

The Lagos State Governor and his deputy, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Hamzat this morning paid an unscheduled visit at some various sites where the Lagos State Public Works are doing some palliative work across the state.

Part of the areas they visited is the Ikorodu area where they met with men of the LSPWC who are working on roads and they asked him a series of questions on the durability of the road construction.

The governor also went on an inspection tour of the ongoing maintenance/rehabilitation works on the Agege-Pen cinema road. In the past couple of weeks, intensive works have started on several roads across the metropolis by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation. Sanwo-Olu said that construction would also resume on the abandoned Pen cinema bridge, as the contractor is being remobilized back to the site.

The battery system will power four motors that offer a 0-100 km (0-60 mph) time of fewer than 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 300 kph (186 mph) and maximum torque of 1,500 Nm. Whats your take?

The Lagos State Government is leaving no stones unturned to rid the state of potholes which have become nightmares to motorists and constitute an embarrassment to the government as well.

It will be recalled that Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 30th, 2019 signed an executive order on roads, waste and traffic which mandates all the relevant agencies to work around the work and to make sure things work as planned.

The Lagos Public Works has been busy lately thereby shifting their working time to night shift to pave way for motorists to use the road at day night. AutoReportNg noticed that daily, they released lists of the road they will be rehabilitating, starting from Ikoyi, Ikeja, Apapa, they seem to be taking the rehabilitation one day at a time.

For Friday night, the LSPWC has released lists of roads they will be working till Saturday morning. It will be recalled that some of the areas where rehabilitation works were carried out last night include; Darmalong bridge (Jibowu-Moshalashi), Ojota Interchange opposite LAMATA office, Oke-Afa by Isolo General Hospital, Falomo Ramp down, Ifako Ijaiye among other areas.

Its over the news today of how a man tried to hijack an aircraft in Lagos. According to an eyewitness account, the man suddenly appeared from nowhere and tried to force himself into the plane, he then climbed the plane and dropped his bag in the engine which makes the passenger to be in panic mode. The FAAN operatives were able to arrest the man also making sure that the plane was thoroughly checked as they investigate the man.

AzMan Airline, the owner of the plane which was disrupted has released a statement stating the real cause and also assuring passengers of their safety always.
