Thanks for that sincere advice
I have always believed in fairness. This past week, I took up issues with Alj Harem and Beaf was surprised
I don't believe in blind support. There is no community without people who will step out of line
When Muslims do things that are wrong, I get pained. I am ready to condemn it

But when a Christain carries out egregrious acts and Christians believe it is ok, then they are sending a message
That only their lives are sacred. I know a lot of Christians personally and we jist etc
But here on NL, there is some mythical notion that Christians do no wrong
If you watch that video where a Muslims' head was put on a spike and somebody was posing for photos with it
Any human being should condemn it! That guy holding that spike has crossed the rubicon!

This guy is engaged in sophistry - somebody is defensive or aggressive. What do they mean?
Being defensive is not a crime, but refusing to acknowledge the atrocities of criminals is a crime/sin
If he truly believes in God, he has to be careful.
I had wanted to say something in this thread, but you have said everything!

I usually get tired of trying to make them understand where Islam and violence differs, but they tend to turn blind eye to whatever reason I brought up. Watching that video is so disheartening, so called boko haram can recruit hundreds of angry youths with that video alone. sad

@Op. Even though i disagree with you, I like the way you responded respectfully, its a good one. Its not sufficient to say that the extremist ignore a passage for selfish gain, there are passages that clearly support such motives and intentions.
Thank you. I like flight similator game very well, but I can't just land at the proper place because I have no guide, sometimes I just switched to autopilot in order to land safely. That is a clean and clear example for men of understanding.

PoliticsWhat Prophet Muhammad Said About Religious Extremism by auwal87(op): 5:26pm On Sep 11, 2011
Three men went to Prophet Muhammad once and wanted to express their sincerity. The first man said, "I will fast everyday and never eat during the day again." The second one said, "I will remain celibate to worship God for the rest of my life." And the third one proclaimed, "I will pray all night every night and never sleep again."The Prophet was not impressed with their zeal. He told them, "I am the Prophet of God, and I eat and fast, I also marry and sleep at night. Whoever does not follow my path is not one of my followers."The message from the prophet is that faith should be practiced in moderation. The Prophet warned his followers against religious extremism in all its aspects.

Moreover, Islam as a faith is not confined to common rituals of worship such as prayer, fasting and remembrance of God but is encompassing of all aspects of life. Hence, eating, sleeping, and exercising to recoup one's strength in order to be a functional healthy person for example is as important to staying alive as it is to being a believer. Marrying and enjoying conjugal life is not just an integral part of being a human being but is also considered an act of worship. The Prophet repudiated the three men's declarations because they were leaning towards extremism.During wartime, the Prophet gave strict instructions regarding rules of engagement. "Do not cut down trees, do not burn crops, and do not kill women, children or the elderly. Fight only those who fight you," he used to say.

At the outset of his mission in Makkah, he strictly forbade any retaliatory act of violence against his enemies even in the face of the severe persecution and hardship early Muslims were subjected to in the holy city. He could have asked his followers to try to assassinate some leaders of Makkah, particularly those who opposed him most, in return of a promise of paradise but he did not. When he settled in Medina and a group of known hypocrites fomented fitna, or sedition, some of his companions wanted them killed. Prophet Muhammad, now politically and military strong, refused arguing that he did not want people to say that Muhammad killed his followers. All of the wars he fought were either defensive or retaliatory.

CrimeRe: Sharia Court Sentences Two To Amputation For Theft by auwal87(m): 11:15pm On Sep 09, 2011
Somebody said Muslim Nairaland member should come and say something right, well here is what I have to say,

1st - There is right to appeal up to the Federal High Courts if the thieves want to, because they are Nigerians, they can move the case out of the Shariah court, which I believe they will do.

2nd - All of you crying that is why beggars fill the country blah blah blah, it is clearly stated that this is the SECOND time that an amputation order is given by ANY court in these states where there is Shari'ah courts. Most beggars are a result of different diseases like polio, and some of them mostly accidents which do happens everyday on the bad roads that Nigeria have. (So blame this on Diseases and Accidents, but not on Amputation order which is rarely given by Sharia'ah courts because of lack of reliable evidence.

3rd - All of you crying that IBB & Co are supposed to be judged first, please let one of you go and take a case to one of the Sharia'h courts and see if the case is not taken, go along with solid proofs of the transactions. Any case, in any court, needs valid proofs. Nigerians talk more than acting, one of you can be a hero now now now by proposing a case against IBB for stealing government funds, believe me, they will take it.

4th - Yes, it is not right to give a Governor the final say of the Judgement, but looking at the political venture of the country, and the way Sharia'h cases are taken by other people whom happens to be mostly non-muslims (whom have nothing to do with Sharia'h case in anywhere around the country), the Governor can fuel down the polity and decide not to give a go ahead to the judgement if he feels that will cause trouble in his state.

Finally, It is their option, and I repeat it is an option to go to a Sharia'h court, they have every right to appeal.

@Auwal, you also seem to have deliberately mistranslated the words of Sheikh Jaafar in your video. There is never a point where he advocated for the splitting of Nigeria. He simply acknowledged that all signs are pointing to the future disintegration of Nigeria which he clearly stated doesn't hope will happen.
And where did I said he advocated for the split of Nigeria? He made his prediction, and that is what I said.

PoliticsWhat Makes Nigeria The Giant Of Africa by auwal87(op): 9:02pm On Sep 05, 2011
One day, a wealthy Nigerian man planned to compare between Nigeria and Sudan, he took a plane bound for Khartoum Airport, on arrival at the airport while waiting for his passport to be stamped for entry, he saw a large box full of money meant for donation, but to his amazement this box was widely open, he called the attention of a security official thinking that they mistakenly left the box open, the security guard told the man, no, this is to enable donors with high denominations of a currency donate some part and pick their change from the box. The man without getting his passport stamped decided that his comparison has ended from there. So he returns to his "Giant of Africa".

Back to the subject matter; What really makes Nigeria the "Giant of Africa"?

@OP U may only proffer a solution to a problem you know the root cause. Like all other brutal Islamic sects, they hold the believe found in that 'holy book'. One of such is:

Qur'an:9:5

"Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."

So how do you solve this generational problem?
You fail to complete with the next verse;

And if anyone of the disbelievers seeks your protection then grant him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allah (the Quran), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not. (Qur'an 9:6)

The most powerful point he made is that an Englishman whose country had lasted for 900 years came to Africa to start a country from scratch, as if there were no distinct nations in Africa then.
There were many nations. Only that the British would not have benefited the way those nations were. So they merged them with dissimilar nations to create a permanently unstable Nigeria.
Imagine Iran in EU! shocked I dey laugh.  undecided  cool
