Chevron Nigeria Limited says one of its oil pipelines was blown, two days after militants claimed an attack in Nigeria’s oil-rich southern delta. Chevron said in a statement Monday that its Dibi-Abiteye pipeline in Delta State was hit on Friday. The Niger Delta Liberation Force, led by a militant calling himself John Togo, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement sent Saturday. The group demanded the withdrawal of troops from Ayokomor, the community where the military launched a Dec. 1 operation to apprehend Togo, causing civilian casualties. Militants in the restive region have attacked pipelines, kidnapped petroleum company employees and fought government troops since 2006. Nigeria is one of the top crude oil suppliers to the U.S. Source: http://labarai.com/archives/54 |
@Op In a civilised country, Sanusi would ve been fired last week. There is not courageous abt what he's done. It is pure stupidity. The statement he made was bogus and he is just painting the country in bad light. Listening to Sanusi, one gets d impression, the guy is running a person crusade of calumny against d economy. Saying publicly that your country spends 25% of its budget on. NA overhead is anoda way of saying, my country is fiscally inefficiently, investors pls beware. Some statements are meant for economic council meetings not vocation grounds. By the way I would rather have the amount paid out to Legislators, than left in d hands of the executive. Legislators don't stack money in foreign accounts, they spend it here and add to the GDP. This is not say the our system of governance is efficient or that the NA is not being over funded.
foreign investors are afraid of nigerians like you, that is why they are not coming. do you want him to deceive them? typical nigerian mugu! |

alj harem:remember, Arewa is united than ever before, now that it has seen who their real opponents are; therefore, Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, and most other tribes are not opposing Arewa Republic. You will see that on the 1st ever public gathering of the Arewa Republic Movement in January 2011. |
Even before Nigeria came into being, there was Hausaland! The area (Hausaland) was so vast and populous that conventional direct methods of ruling were quite inappropriate. Lord Lugard came up with the idea of using 'dependent rulers' to rule indirectly. Trusted rulers were allowed to rule as they saw fit. Such an approach was cheap to implement, it supported existing power structures, conservative and it legitimised colonial rule. The experiment was to be so successful that it was to be used as a model by other colonies around the Empire. Below is the Map of Entire Hausaland. It was in in July 1966 during the Araba (secession) counter-coup, Murtala declared that his mission was to pull the North – the Arewa Republic – out of Nigeria and was in deed flying the flag of the new ‘republic’ at his Ikeja Cantonment headquarters, until the British diplomats talked sense into him to the effect that ‘you don’t run a country with groundnut pyramids’. Even at that, the naive Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon who was foisted on the country by the British remained fixated to the idea of an Arewa Republic and had declared in his first ever national broadcast that, “there is no basis for national unity…” source (10th paragraph) |

Jbenue:See, Arewa Republic is having good neighbours whom we can work together to succeed. From Kano to a Libyan port its only 2,000 km. By building rail in partnership with Niger Republic and Libyan governments, Arewa Republic can continue to do business even without the Lagos Port. Even now, most of goods imported by people of Arewa are diverted through Cotonou, Benin Republic >>> Maradi, Niger Republic >>> Katsina, Nigeria >>> Kano, Nigeria. So why not Libya >>> Niger >>> Arewa ? Desertification is not a Northern Nigerian Problem, it is a world problem, so don't think it is a curse to Northern Nigeria, just search Desertification Google and you will see the Alaskas in USA coming out. In the 21st century, even without shoreline, you will survive, because we have technology to use Rails, to use Roads, and to use Air Cargos. So, we too have great link with our neighbours, and great opportunities lies ahead after separating from Nigeria. |
Let me start from the bottom up. Your points are not qualified at all, you know why Arewa people are not doing anything at the moment? Because they are Lazy, do you know why they are Lazy? Because of Oil. 5- IBB and Co are all going to die soon, new fresh bloods will emerge soon, with hearts of courage to empower our people 4- Arewa unlike any other Muslim countries are far more liberal, some few bad elements emerge because of poverty and seeking name only, but Arewa will be just like Turkey in Europe, or Malaysia in Asia, or Bahrain in Middle East. 3- Almajirai are a great resource for Arewa Republic, in no time, they will disappear from the streets, 65% that is not fear, we have more civil servants than any region in Nigeria, go to the ministries in Abuja and other states of Arewa, they are all from Arewa (at least 90%). This is the reality, we have qualified doctors, qualified engineers (go to ABU Zaria and see those behind the Nuclear project, they are all from Arewa), we have Business Gurus (Arewa even though it doesn't have sea ports, most of the distributions are carried from here, I have never seen someone traveling from Arewa to Odua or Biafra to purchase imported food stuffs, but you will see lots of them coming to Arewa to purchase imported stuffs, go to Singer market in Kano, you will see what I am telling you, that markets carries transactions worth billions of naira every single day, why? Because we consume. See Arewa, only those who are ignorant about the country will tell you we only have Almajirai. Because that's what you see in the south. 2- NO! A big NO! Oil is only a curse to Nigeria, only the wicked countries look at Nigeria with like that. The good countries want Nigeria to get their facts right, abandon oil, or at least depend less on oil, develop other sectors, generate employment. You see having an Oil in Nigeria is only a curse to Arewa because it made our people lazy and depends heavily on salaries and revenues from the federal government. But by the time there is no oil, people will understand, and they will wake up to the reality. They will ask question to themselves. What about if this people abandon us, what should we tell our children and grand children, what have we done for them? 1- Yes, Landlocked, but see also in Europe:::: Andorra Armenia Austria Belarus Czech Republic Vatican City (Holy See) Hungary Liechtenstein Luxembourg Moldova San Marino Serbia Slovakia Switzerland They are all landlocked countries. Aren't they better than Nigeria in terms of Anything? Boy, wake up, Arewa is not what you think it is; |
Just like we are all good neighbours with Niger Republic, Benin Republic, and Cameroon (at least apart from the Bakassi issue). Arewa will be good neighbours with Yoruba and Igbo countries. We will be good friends, remembering history and laughing to ourselves. (We will know that the present system we are today is just a game but not real). |
DapoBear:Apology accepted! By digging things down, you will know that things don't just happen without reason. |
Beaf:NO! Some of ASUU demands are better universities facilities for good education, NLC is working hard to depend the interest of all Nigerian workers, sometime to even go beyond that (by preventing government to increase fuel prices). Areas outside oil for government to intervene is Industries, Agriculture, Technology (lets look at reality not mere entertainment). Abeg, how many people will benefit from the entertainment industry, how many people are in the entertainment industry (less than 1 million combined together). Farmers in Nigeria are up to 70% of the population. Hmm, I wonder ooo, Anyway, AREWA is getting OFF soon!, Let you have the WORLD'S BEST R&B, ROCK, RAPPER, ACTOR, ACTRESS, what ever! |
DapoBear:To the bold part. In 1996, an American Coy (Pfizer) conducted tests (trovafloxacin) on 100 children (ALL IN AREWA) five of whom died, with many others suffering life-altering injuries. Again they conducted another tests (ceftriaxone) on another 100 children (ALL IN AREWA) six of whom died, with many others suffering till now. Since then, people of AREWA were afraid of giving out their children for any test or vaccine that comes from the West, (this is what will happen even if its another country, not Nigeria). So, in early 2004, Shekarau announced the suspension of the vaccine "UNTIL INVESTIGATIONS ARE MADE" Physicians from all over NIGERIA and Outside NIGERIA conducted tests on samples randomly taken. The final result was that the tested Vaccines were okay. So the Governor ordered the vaccination to continue, and announce that the Vaccine is okay, the Emir himself vaccinated so many children in one Polio day, to show their acceptance. Since then people are accepting the vaccines, and so far, no problem is encountered. FYI. |
DapoBear:I am telling you this, Northern People are very easy to go by, if you explain to them (especially by righteous Scholars) that early marriage, oppression is totally UnIslamic, I am very sure they will understand, if I can understand that oppression of women is not right, why not other Arewa brother? |
alj harem:You don't need Igbo to help you, Northern Brother is here to help you. Just attach the picture to your reply, it will appear below the post. But make sure the size is less than 200 kb. Look at it below (using chrome)

We say "AREWA REPUBLIC" you say "ISLAMIC REPUBLIC, or ALMAJIRI REPUBLIC, or SHARI'AH REPUBLIC. What's the non-sense, most you show the whole world how "DUMB" you guys "Southerners" are? (at least not all). Don't you know that Reuters and AP are visiting this website daily? Hmm, I am wondering what type of guys you people are; Arewa Republic (Hausaland) will be called like that, not Almajiri or Shari'ah or Islamic. If we want it Islamic Republic, we will not hide it for you, we will say "ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF NORTHERN NIGERIA" or ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF AREWA. |

How many Jobs did the Oil industry created in Nigeria? What benefit did the poor masses enjoy from the Oil industry? (No Power, Poor Roads, Bad Education, Bad Hospitals, etc etc.). |
In Nigeria, 70% live on less than $1 a day in a country that has earned over $340 billion in oil revenues since the 1970s. Why is this happening? How is it possible to be so rich, yet so poor? Is this phenomenon, known as the “oil curse,” or in social science parlance, the “resource curse” truly to blame? Does oil really impede democracy and economic growth? In short, oil exports as a revenue source for development don’t seem to work. Most countries that have come on-line in the last twenty years are exhibiting increased poverty, not less, slower growth, not more, weaker institutions, and regulatory frameworks, not stronger. |
Whatever you call it, Arewa will prosper, Good academic systems will change the whole situation, and in no time you will not see any Almajiri in our country. Unless Neighbours coming to become Almajiri, but we will not allow that, at least we will discourage it to the core. See lists of Jobs available which will be enhanced.
