Let us SUPPORT the creation of the United States of Africa. With this, Nigerian state, will be divided into multiple states of Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and the rest of major ethnic groups. And we will have PEACE for EVER!!!!!

My only condition is, let each state control their own Natural resources.

I wish to live up to the day that I will hold a passport of "UNITED STATES OF AFRICA".

(From WIKIPEDIA)
The "United States of Africa" was mentioned first by the Jamaican thinker Marcus Garvey in his poem 'Hail, United States of Africa' in 1924. Garvey's ideas deeply influenced the birth of the Pan-Africanist movement which culminated in 1945 with the Fifth Pan-African Congress in Manchester, United Kingdom, attended by W.E.B. Du Bois, Patrice Lumumba, George Padmore, Jomo Kenyatta and Kwame Nkrumah.

Later, Nkrumah and Haile Selassie (among many others) took the idea forward to form the 37 nation Organisation of African Unity, the forerunner of today's African Union.

The idea of a multinational unifying African state is seen by the French publication Le Monde diplomatique as a successor to the medieval African empires: the Ethiopian Empire, the Ghana Empire, the Mali Empire, the Songhai Empire, the Benin Empire, the Kanem Empire and other historic nation states.

Blacks are not victims of Racism alone, they are also Racists!
Why on Earth will one just start trying to dis-organize the Continent using d so called racism against black people.
Let those black people that live in d Arab countries themselves criticize their situation not someone speak for them.

How do you even know that the continent belong to "black people" only.

When will dis "Skin Colour" differences get d hell out of black people's mind.

Christianity EtcWhy Muslims Quote From The Christian Bible by auwal87(op): 9:30am On May 10, 2009
It is a common thing here on Nairaland while on discussion, Christians usually ask why Muslims quote from the Bible to debate on an issue raised. Well, Muslims are always encouraged to study every religion and understand it fully, seeing the fact that Christians believe that the Qur'an is not a true Holy Book, quoting it to a Christian will be useless, i.e. if a Christian will see facts from their own Bible that they believe in that the debate is being discussed, then he must admit that fact immediately.

Active Christians on the Religious section usually always fail in debates, but when they fail, they will NEVER ever admit, but they will just start asking, why are MUSLIMS reading or quoting from the Bible not the Qur'an. It is not because there is nothing to quote from the Qur'an, but the Christians will go about bashing the Book, and start saying all bad things on it, that is why it is better for us to quote from your own Bible to prove the topic in question.

Foreign AffairsIsrael Launches Second Day Of Gaza Air Strikes by auwal87(op): 12:43pm On May 02, 2009
GAZA (Reuters) - Israeli warplanes bombed tunnels beneath the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt on Saturday after militants fired several mortars at the Jewish state from the coastal territory, witnesses said.
The Israeli military confirmed it had launched several air strikes near the Gaza town of Rafah, along the Egyptian border, but had no further comment.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Israel had resumed attacks on Friday on tunnels it says are used to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip, after a nearly two-month hiatus in such strikes. There were no casualties in Friday's air strikes, launched after a rocket struck Israel.

Israel said three mortars were fired at Israel from the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday, causing no casualties. The Palestinian Resistance Committees, a militant group in Gaza, claimed it had fired the mortars on Saturday.

Militant rocket fire has dropped significantly since Egypt began efforts to consolidate the January 18 truce that ended Israel's 22-day offensive against Gaza's Islamic militants.

Israel launched its war on the territory controlled by the Islamist Hamas movement in late December, with the aim of halting cross-border rocket and mortar attacks on the Jewish state by armed militant groups.

A Palestinian human rights organization says 1,417 people were killed, of whom 926 were civilians. The Israeli military says the death toll was 1,166 of whom 295 were civilians.

NB: Not all what we say in our worship is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, like the following;

The Call to Prayer
The Invocation while bowing - "Subhana rabbiyal azim wa bihamdihi"
The Invocation while prostrating - "Subhana rabbiyal a'ala wa bihamdihi"
Salatul Ibrahimiyya - "Allahumma salli ala Muhammad wa ala ali Muhammad kama sallaita ala Ibrahim wa ala ali Ibrahim, "

So many other statements and invocations are from the Hadiths (Examples) of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which is the second most important source of guidance to all Muslims.

Interesting, learning about Islam is very joyful and easy.

The statement "There is no God except Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger" is called "Kalimat Shahada".

It is not mentioned completely in the Qur'an, likewise, it is not a verse in the Holy Qur'an, but a "Submission Statement".

Essence of the statement is to;

1. Testify that there is only One God, and no one is worthy of worship except Him who creates the heavens and the earth, and all that are within them
2. Testify that Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of God, and the Holy Qur'an is the true word of God sent through Angel Gabriel
PoliticsRe: Northern Nigerians Are Not Civilized Peoples by auwal87(m): 3:25pm On Apr 20, 2009
In civilization, People progress from Agrarian society, to Industrial society, whilst the present world civilization is industrial, and we are gradually shifting to informational society.

So, In the context of Nigeria as a country, there are classes of people with different types of beliefs and values, denying a particular civilization and insisting on an old civilization should not be another civilization's problem. Example, when the so-called un-civilized people of Northern Nigeria like I decided to remain an agrarian society, we should not be seen as sinners or trouble makers by the so-called civilized people of Southern Nigeria, since we did not prevent any other society from becoming a civilized one.

Both Agrarian and Industrial societies have so many things to contribute in one way or the other. If you go to the USA, or UK, or Southern America, and so many other European countries, you will still find a lot of people who sticked to the Agrarian way of living.

Talking about Civilization and bringing issues like sitting on the mat or not using electricity is a mere ignorance of what civilization actually means, you can find an Agrarian society in the USA using electricity and anything that will support and ease their lives because they were provided with that. In the Nigerian context, the story is very different, any farmer in the North will undoubtedly use electricity when he is provided with, but our governments, both federal, states, and local, are not trying to help the Agrarian society of the North to enjoy their lives.

Advice: Please let us be objective on issues we raise, and try to come up with a Solution, not just complain.

what are they waitin for

the man should face stoning right now in accordance with the damn shaira!!

selectively huh
Only if they are truely practicing Islamic Law, and in that case, Lawyers must present evidences that he was the one that ordered the killing of the Innocent Scholar. When found guilty he must be prosecuted appropriately, but damn with this "immunity clause".

But 2 years after they committed this great sin, God will surely reveal them, because supporters of this Scholar are praying all the time for God to reveal those who committed this atrocities in that great city.

@ nuzo

Only if we have the evidences even like this one, then we can call for action against this evil man for killing Igbos in Kano, but we don't have any clue whatsoever as to who ordered youths to go and kill the Igbos in New Town (Sabon Gari).

As for this case, the Police Officer is still alive, he can be called anytime to re-confessed and give his own "evidences" that he was ordered by the Executive Governor of Kano to kill Sheikh Ja'afar.

Our people, this is enough for us to understand that what is happening in Nigeria is a mere Political games played by the top political office holders, and time will show us again and again, that this politicians are the one causing all troubles in the country with the mere intention of remaining in power for as long as possible.

Agreed, the nation is not moving, agreed Nigeria is at standstill, but no former governor has the moral right to seek for the Presidency of Nigeria. The Presidency of Nigeria is not reserved for only former governors and serving governors alone. They don’t have the intelligence, they don’t have the exposure and they don’t have the human feelings to continue to rule Nigerians. We have a former governor ruling us now, and we know the state of the nation now, so there is no former governor that can win in a free and fair election, even in primary election, not PDP, no former governor in free and fair election will get the ticket of PDP, because they don’t have the majority, they don’t have the followership.
But they do have the Money which they looted to spend on their campaigns to buy people's votes, and advertise wellu wellu!
IslamRe: Why Must The Muslims Pray Towards The East? by auwal87(m): 2:15pm On Apr 09, 2009
The Best Comprehensive Answer is "UNITY"

To Unite all Muslims towards One Direction i.e. the Ka'abah.

Whether you are rich, power, king, president, or saint, you must face this direction while you pray.

In my own opinion.

take it as this;

it is an act of God, because God controls nature, if someone believes its Mother Earth or Mother Nature, then God is their master, God can stop natural disasters, as well as He can cause them.

In this case, God gets hold of everything, e.g. one will wonder, with all the sins in Nigeria, from the poor to the leaders, the preasts, the business moguls, Nigeria have never experienced an Earthquake. But we do have "Power Failures"! grin

With ample evidence discovered by science, the thesis of an "infinite universe" was tossed onto the scrap-heap of the history of scientific ideas. Yet, more important questions were forthcoming: what existed before the Big Bang? What force could have caused the great explosion that resulted in a universe that did not exist before?

There is a single answer to be given to the question of what existed before the Big Bang: God, the All-powerful and the Almighty, Who created the earth and the heavens in great order. Many scientists, be they believers or not, are obliged to admit this truth. Although they may decline to admit this fact on scientific platforms, their confessions in between the lines give them away. Renowned atheist philosopher Anthony Flew says:

Notoriously, confession is good for the soul. I will therefore begin by confessing that the Stratonician atheist has to be embarrassed by the contemporary cosmological consensus. For it seems that the cosmologists are providing a scientific proof of what St. Thomas contended could not be proved philosophically; namely, that the universe had a beginning. So long as the universe can be comfortably thought of as being not only without end but also beginning, it remains easy to urge that its brute existence, and whatever are found to be its most fundamental features, should be accepted as the explanatory ultimates. Although I believe that it remains still correct, it certainly is neither easy nor comfortable to maintain this position in the face of the Big Bang story. (Henry Margenau, Roy Abraham Vargesse, Cosmos, Bios, Theos, La Salla IL: Open Court Publishing, 1992, p. 241).

Some scientists like the British materialist physicist H. P. Lipson confess that they have to accept the Big Bang theory whether they want it or not:

If living matter is not, then, caused by the interplay of atoms, natural forces, and radiation, how has it come into being?… I think, however, that we must…admit that the only acceptable explanation is creation. I know that this is anathema to physicists, as indeed it is to me, but we must not reject that we do not like if the experimental evidence supports it. (H. P. Lipson, "A Physicist Looks at Evolution", Physics Bulletin, vol. 138, 1980, p. 138).

In conclusion, science points to a single reality whether materialist scientists like it or not. Matter and time have been created by a Creator, Who is All-Powerful and Who created the heavens, the earth and all that is in between: Almighty God.

It is God Who created the seven heavens and of the earth the same number, the Command descending down through all of them, so that you might know that God has power over all things and that God encompasses all things in His knowledge. (Surat at-Talaq: 12)
