Walaihi!, if I catch you "mumu", I will use that your mustache to clean the remaining ones on our old notes.
It is very ok, please kindly advise Sanusi to do just that before he leave his office, the arabic text doesn't add or reduce value to the Naira, as such its removal will not bother anyone. But will just make you guys more happier (you are now the winners, no single arabic text on naira notes). Then you can go and start celebrating. By the way, I don't have mustache, and I don't like them. You find something else to clean them.

Oboma1:
Who taught you all these grammar? I hope you are not reciting what someone said, somewhere. Your colleagues are running after cattles while you are here struggling with a written down poem from somewhere.
Copy and paste? Not my Job.

I remember I tried to bet someone that the new notes would not have Arabic letters on them. The naughty person refused!
Its ironic the way they see us, they thought we are all the same, its unfair to say all southerners are theives and armed robbers, or all niger deltans are militants, etc. Just because we didn't post regularly on nairaland doesn't mean we are unlettered.

undecided maybe those from d south doesn't have anything doing but sending "scam" emails, and posting on nairaland. Is this correct?

@ enjoyment1

Yes my brother! , they are really busy ruling, and they are trying alot. Atleast we all can appreciate all that Sanusi is doing in the banks. Atleast, he has helped five banks and have sacked all their Directors, while that of Unity bank are still there. We can also see another way of saving our tax payers money, by re-minting our smaller denominations (and using the opportunity to bring back arabic, which is the real sense of the so-called re-minting). We can also appreciate Mr. Yar'ádua who could not quench the fire raging in our nations university, but was busy opening another in far away Saudi Arabia', for serious minded people.

We really need more of their governance.
Shame on you, now where is the most-hated arabic text on the new notes?
IslamRe: Zamfara Pilgrim Dies Stoning Devil by auwal87(m): 7:15pm On Dec 02, 2009
Stoning the devil is symbolic, it doesn't mean that the devils feels pain physically, but of course effects your faith as a Muslim that you have done away with the evils with you. Take for an instance, Satan is there watching them stoning the Jamrat, wouldn't he must remember the day that Prophet Abraham stoned at him at the exact same location.

"When he [Abraham] left Mina and was brought down to (the defile called) al-Aqaba, the Devil appeared to him at Stone-Heap of the Defile. Gabriel said to him: “Pelt him!” so Abraham threw seven stones at him so that he disappeared from him. Then he appeared to him at the Middle Stone-Heap. Gabriel said to him: “Pelt him!” so he pelted him with seven stones so that he disappeared from him. Then he appeared to him at the Little Stone-Heap. Gabriel said to him: “Pelt him!” so he pelted him with seven stones like the little stones for throwing with a sling. So the Devil withdrew from him."

Please people you should be honest of yourself, it is history that you cannot change, so you must believe on what it is about or totally ignore it.

Back to the death of Pilgrims, there are more than 2 million people going to Hajj every year, they spent an average of 2 weeks there, if you look at the size of the area it is clear to you that it is normal for such stampede to happen. Honestly the authorities are trying to safeguard the lives of the Hajjis, every year they make changes that will enhance the Hajj process and improve safety.

All in all, it is all about faith, many Hajjis have been praying to go to Hajj and die there, not a suicide though, but just a hope.

I wish all Hajjis a safe return to their homes.

The State House in Abuja declared yesterday that President Umaru Yar’adua, who departed the country in a hurry last Monday to seek medical treatment in Saudi Arabia, is suffering from acute pericarditis, an inflammation of the fibrous sac surrounding the heart, otherwise known as pericardium. It was the first time in two and a half years of his presidency that the State House revealed Yar’adua’s ailment to the public.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, who spoke to newsmen late in the afternoon yesterday, quoted the Chief Physician to the President Dr. Salisu Banye as having confirmed the ailment. He said, “At about 3pm on Friday, November 20th, after he returned from the Abuja Central Mosque where he performed the Juma’at prayers, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua complained of left sided severe chest pain. Preliminary medical examinations suggested acute pericarditis (an inflammatory condition of the coverings of the heart). It was then decided that he should undertake confirmatory checks at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he had his last medical check-up in August.”

Adeniyi added, “The medical review and tests undertaken at the hospital have confirmed the initial diagnosis that the President is indeed suffering from acute pericarditis.” He said it was not yet clear when Yar’adua will return to the country, but that for now, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has taken over presidential powers. “The vice president is now acting on behalf of the president. He takes charge in the absence of the president,” he said. He added that Yar’adua “is receiving treatment for the ailment and is responding remarkably well.”

Commenting on rumours that swept the country on Wednesday night and throughout Thursday that Yar’adua may have died, Adeniyi said the president was unhappy with them. “He is a human being, naturally he will feel bad. This is not the first time. The President was aware of the rumour. He felt bad about it as any normal human being would,” Adeniyi said.  Asked what government intends to do about such rumours, he said, “What can we do? We can’t legislate against rumour. There is nothing anybody can do.”

He also dismissed claims that Yar’adua will seize the opportunity of his being in Saudi Arabia to perform the hajj. “No, it is definitely not

True,” the adviser said.  “Even before the President travelled he knew that he was not going to perform the Hajj. When I did the first draft for the statement, I stated that the President will do medicals and undergo hajj, but he said no, I am not going to do hajj. So there is no way he is going to do hajj.”

Asked whether the president left the country at midnight because he could not walk into the plane, his spokesman said, “Actually what happened was that the President was supposed to leave earlier in the day but because of the holidays in Saudi Arabia they couldn’t procure his visa in time.”

It would be recalled that President Yar’adua, who was in Saudi Arabia last August for medical treatment, hurriedly departed again last Monday for the same country. The trip was not announced in advance and no footage of his departure was shown on television. This probably led to rumours that swept the country from Wednesday evening suggesting that the president died in hospital. Nigerian pilgrims who were in Muna on that day greatly helped the spread of the rumours by sending numerous text messages saying they heard that he died.

This is Yar’adua’s fifth medical trip since mid-2007, when he was PDP’s presidential candidate. In the midst of the campaign, he went to Germany in April that year to seek medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment. Later that year, as president, he seized the opportunity of his attending the G-8 Summit in Germany to seek more treatment. In August last year, Yar’adua went to Saudi Arabia presumably to perform the lesser hajj but ended up spending two weeks in hospital, which led to much furore at home. Last August, he again went to Jeddah, abandoning earlier plans to attend the UN General Assembly session in New York. Even though his current ailment has been declared by the State House to be acute pericarditis, the president was reported by Reuters earlier this week to be suffering from chronic kidney disease.

Science/TechnologyWhy Is Nigeria So Excluded On The Internet by auwal87(op): 12:15am On Nov 26, 2009
I guess the problem has been for long, but it is taking too long, for God sake, why would Internet Merchants accept buyers from Sudan, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Afghanistan, even Niger Republic, but does not accept buyers from Nigeria. I was trying to purchase from a website but they can ship to all countries except Nigeria, why is this so?

What are we doing to change this? Are they thinking all Nigerians are fraudsters or the whole country is a fraud and never even exists? These guys need to learn from Yahoo!, Google, 2checkout, Authorize.net, and etc, they are making millions from Nigerian customers without loosing anything, or maybe its a monopolistic demography where only the big guys know the secrets of accept Nigerian buyers. Paypal is still yet to start accepting users from Nigeria as well.

Why is Nigeria excluded on the Internet by majority of "Important Online Merchants"?

PoliticsNorthern Emirates Support An Independent Arewa State by auwal87(op): 10:16am On Oct 01, 2009
In a recent encounter with the spokesperson of the Kano Emirate, Dutse Emirate, & Katagum Emirate by our newsmen in Kano, the spokepersons have indicated that their Emirates are ready, willing, and praying for the Actualization of an Independent Arewa States out of Nigeria. This is the first time since Nigeria's Independence that any of the Emirates ever claimed to support a secession movement.

In reply to the letter sent by the Movement for the Actualization of an Independent States of Arewa (MAISA). The emirates have promised their full support to the movement, but however ascertain their demand for peaceful negotiations at all times with the Nigerian Authorities. They also demand the movement further consultations each time they are taking any further action. Complaining that the formation of Nigeria as it is today is an err, and has become a necessity for each of the three major ethnic groups to rule their own people, quoting a remark by the former Emir of Gwandu, that "Nigeria is a country of 3 slaved Nations, and these Nations need to be freed sooner or later!"

Since its inception, MAISA has though remain carrying its activities in secret, however, they've revealed a new flag in recent months which they will be using throughout the movements activities, and earlier source indicates that it is the intended flag of Arewa Republic.

In a similar event, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have indicate their readiness and willingness to support MAISA in carrying out its peaceful secession activities.

All efforts made to contact an official of MAISA by Labarai.com have failed, however an email message received from someone claiming to be from MAISA is still unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, we are talking of Politics, where every participant wants to succeed, in this context, Religious Groups may form a single party to accommodate their appraisal, while other groups also do the same.

In this topic, Christianity, Judaism, Paganism, Atheism, and Islam are all included, let each religious group have its own party.

May be, May be, May be in ur new Arewa republic. I dont trust any religious leader. They are selfish, greedy, and power drunk. Religious parties in the north will bring more violence nd blood shed.
But by giving them the opportunity to participate in the politics, it will create a new dimension for them, and say, hey, if we want to win, then we have to soften our belief, we have to do this and that in order to win people's heart, as such, they will do everything possible to get people vote for them.

You see, by getting them into politics, they will forget about force, because their absence in the politics makes them think that the only way for them is through violence.
PoliticsNigeria Should Allow Religious Parties To Participate In Elections by auwal87(op): 10:43am On Aug 01, 2009
Maybe, maybe, maybe, we will get rid of the extremists view that the only way they can fulfill their mission is by force, by allowing them to contest in elections, only those interested in their opinions will vote for them. Meanwhile, it is still a democracy, and all religions should be allowed to participate.

What are your opinions on this?

PoliticsRe: N180,000 Tuition Fees For Nigerian Universities by auwal87(m): 2:03pm On Jul 30, 2009
Even if the government will take $10,000 from students as tuition fees, the education standard will not change. There will be even more corruption in the higher institutions, and it will become a market place of becoming rich quickly, haba, think about it, how many Nigerians deserve to have Higher Education? How many of them can afford even 10,000 Naira per year?

The government should use 20% to 30% of the budget on Education for 10 good years and see the result yourself.

Invite Foreign Universities to establish in Nigeria, and encourage investors to build more private universities, and then we will have proportion based education i.e. those who can afford the expensive one can go, and those who cannot, then can go to the free government funded universities.
