soki2ng,

Letz look at the original post, shall we? cool
Note what is in bold. If he said for common man (or avg user) that wd be another discussion wink

Either way, you have to always code for lowest common denominator. You get this info either upfront by establishing a baseline or from your web logs. MSFT recently put out a warning that everyone should stop using IE because of security leaks. Yes, MSFT said that. I blv it is even on the forum somewhere. Now u tell me, supposing I never used FF before but was told by MSFT to use another browser and I settled for FF and I liked it so much that when MSFT says to return to IE, I don't go back? U c where I am going with this?

Again, always code for the lowest common denominator. 80% of the folks out there use IE so it makes sense to make sure your site(s) show up there. Having said that, other browsers are gaining ground, I bet you the %age will only increase over time.

It is better to code for all major browsers upfront and forget it than to go back and tweak in the future. If you are like me, looking at old code once I am done is like a dog going back to his puke shocked shocked shocked
But do you think Chrome is getting us back by installing tweaks here and there, I tot they should release something which is fully loaded, that is all plugins should be compatible with those on Firefox and IE. e.g. on so many occassions u need to install different plugin for Chrome like the flash players, text masking, etc.

IMOO, like many webmasters may accept, Firefox is by far being more supportive because of its openess, and its versatility.

@ OLAADEGBU - In response to what you told Olabowale regarding being Slave of God

Are you (or we) children of God?
If yes, then we have the right here on earth to enjoy and talk to our Father directly and be free from any physical harm, even accidents, anything, we have the right over Him to send us food from Paradise or from anywhere he like, in short, He should send us a very very very big Plane to carry us all to Paradise since He is our Father.

If Not, then we are His slaves, we have no any right over anything, He will do what He wishes to us, destroy us if He wishes, and we must do what He told us to do, and we cannot directly talk with Him (one on one). We must ask Him to please give us what we wanted, and we must be very very obedient to him.

GOD Almighty will LOVE his SLAVE much more than his CHILD if that SLAVE loves Him and Obey him more than the child.

The Relation of God and His Slaves is not like between Human Beings and those taken as Slaves.

If GOD created us all and wanted us all to be his Children, He would not have Discriminated between those choosen to be his Children and those that were not choosen.

Consider this;

A computer software is made to follow some rules of the developer, this rules are set, except if the developer wishes to change them or add some things to them, then another developer creates virus that will corrupt that software, will you sit back and say the software will fight back? Of course you must find ways to protect your software by creating security patches.

And then consider this;

A website is made where everyone has the space to post whatever he likes like Nairaland for example, there are some certain rules created by the owner of this website and he changes them as he wishes. One of the rules says if anyone post negative things will be blocked from using Nairaland or the post will be deleted. Then the poster must prevent himself from posting negative things to avoid being blocked or his post being deleted.

So,

In the first example I gave you, consider the Developer being God, while the Software being Human Beings (as his Children), another Developer being Satan. You see that? The Mathematics will teach you that God will Not Let the Devil corrupt even ONE of His Children.

In the second example I gave you, consider the owner of the website being God, while the posters being Human Beings (as his Slaves), we must follow the rules or else?? We know the Rules and the Punishment, because we are slaves.

What I am trying to figure out for you is that We are God's creation, and His Slaves, and He loves all His creations and the righteous slaves, that is why He gave us Free will, to differentiate between the right and the wrong ourselves.

For example, I am a Human Being Now, and I know if I drink Alcohol to a certain degree can cause serious problem to me, and I know by taking little of Alcohol can cause me to take more Alcohol as time goes. So the best thing to do is to prevent it altogether, because drinking it will cause problem to my physical body and corrupt my mind as well. So it is a tool for corrupting mind and weakening the physical body. In God's mercy, I know it is a problem because I have free will to do research, ask suggesstions and advise from those that know better than I do, and I come to the conclusion that preventing it is better.

So many things goes by this rule; 1. You first fall in love with it (you see it and you like it), 2. You think about it (whether to approach it, praise it, or leave it), 3. You act upon it (by approaching it, praising it, or leaving it).

We are all Servants of God.

God is ONE
He has no SON
He has no WIFE
He has no PARENTS
Everything is His OWN
He Controls Everything

Wondering where He came from? That is simply beyond the BRAINS he provided us with. It is like asking your CAT to give you an answer to simple ARITHMETIC calculation. Or like asking your Computer running Windows, Linux, or UNIX to tell you which of your friend hates you or love you.
PoliticsRe: Afenifere Leaders Are Liars by auwal87(m): 7:51am On Dec 31, 2008
I LIKED these paragraphs, especially the ones I bolded

earTHMama:
The entity called Nigeria

We have been saying it; Nigeria is not one country. Well, yes, I know that, but I have been trying to say, since Lord Lugard in 1914 amalgamated us, and we have gone thus far, let us try to make it work, so that we can continue together. But with what happened in Jos in 2001 and the most recent one, I have my doubts that Nigeria is one. So, if we want to continue as one geographical entity, called Nigeria, then we have to change our present system of government completely.

This presidential system cannot work. Except, you can make it true federalism; if there is anything like that. Let each region have its own government. PRONACO, to which I belong, has looked at that critically and we have it set out in a map. We have identified 18 known regions in Nigeria. Let each region have its own administration and let us have, may be six ministries that would bind us together because of our dealings with the outside world, like Military, internal security and others.

When we gained independence in 1960, we had federal system that was working and there were three regions – North, West and East. That was why the West was able to develop at such a fast pace under the leadership of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and others. Because each region had considerable autonomy, and the mineral resources were controlled by the regions, not the Federal Government. At that time, the people of the Niger-Delta had 50 percent of the derivation funds. The military people cut it down to 7 per cent and now it is 13 per cent. It is unjust and unfair.

Ironically, in 2003, we had a conference in Abuja when Obasanjo was still there and we knew nothing positive was going to come out of that conference. And it was so. That was why PRONACO did not participate in it… they said yes, it cannot be called sovereign conference. We said, okay, let us take away the adjective, sovereign, and whatever came out of it, let us give it to the House of Representatives and the Senate and make sure that they act on it.

Nothing has come out of it and the National Assembly knows that it had very little potential. That was why when Obasanjo asked that money be appropriated to it; they refused to give any money to do it. And he said that if they didn’t appropriate money for it, he would find money from somewhere. He said he got money from somewhere, N1 billion. Is it from his farm? It was our money.

He must have taken the money from Central Bank or somewhere. But they spent more than N1 billion on it. What have we gained from it? Nothing! So, we just have to go back to regional set up or whatever we choose to call it and let us have a true federal system that will give considerable autonomy to each region so that we can live together in peace. I feel that would be better. Some people even say everybody should go back to their homes and forget about federalism.

Well, it would not be easy because of boundary disputes and things like that. So, let us still remain a country, and not a nation. We are not a nation. Nigeria is not a nation. It is a country, made up of many nations. The Yoruba is a nation. The Hausa is a nation. The Fulani is a nation. The Gwari is a nation. The Edo is a nation. The Igbo is a nation - so many nations! But when they put all of us together; we become a country, made up of many nations.

Whether chrome is in beta or not is irrelevant to me. What is though is that when I code a site, that it looks good in all major browsers, chrome not being one of them for now and hence, the original intent of this post.

Cooooooouuuuuurrrrtttt! tongue
Chrome being out of beta means that the next release will be v2.0 which is impossible now because they have a very long way to go to catch up with the rest of the browsers like Firefox. For google, it is a marketing strategy. That is why the issue of chrome being in beta or not is important.

So, imov, Firefox is the best browser as of now.
WebmastersRe: Chrome, Firefox, Or Internet Explorer 8? by auwal87(op): 3:59pm On Dec 29, 2008
For the first link

Google just took their browser Chrome out of Beta. Google say they did so because their “goals for stability and performance have been met” (while disclaiming their “work is far from done”). But is that the real reason? Steve Gillmor at Techcrunch proposes another potential way to look at it; “Google’s open source browser has a number of eager customers, including OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] who can’t offer the browser until it is in full release.” Yesterday when Google’s plans started surfacing, Ionut Alex. Chitu commented, “Out of beta? That’s a joke, right? Maybe ’out of alpha’ is a more appropriate description.”

Google was and continues to be eager to get Chrome out to many people, Beta or not. They advertise for it using AdSense, they show special links on YouTube pages, and last not least, they promoted Chrome on their homepage.

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/7-things-google-chrome-needs-now-that-its-out-of-beta/

A little while ago, Google announced the removal of the “Beta” tag from their brand new browser. Now, I have heard speculation that this is due to the fact that computer manufacturers won’t bundle software with “Beta” hanging around its neck. Normally Google applications stay in Beta for a very long time (see: Gmail), but after only a few months, Chrome is out in the wild with no reservations.

While this may be more of a marketing stunt than anything else, a “Gold” version of Chrome (that’s ironic!) must now assume the same responsibilities of the other browsers that have taken off their training wheels. Note that in this list I’m excluding most (but not all) of the things Google has explicitly promised to fix. These are in NO particular order.

Google Chrome Is Out Of Beta. Here is the Google Announcement.
Next time, try checking the site before asking someone else to check. wink
Your link was not correct, this is what they said regarding the Beta version.

We're excited to announce that with today's fifteenth release we are taking off the "beta" label!
and then at last they explained;

We have removed the beta label as our goals for stability and performance have been met but our work is far from done. We are working to add some common browser features such as form autofill and RSS support in the near future. We are also developing an extensions platform along with support for Mac and Linux. If you are already using Google Chrome, the update system ensures that you get the latest bug fixes and security patches, so you will get the newest version automatically in the next few days. If you haven't used Google Chrome for a while, now might be a good time to give it another spin.

To the issue of Israel and Palastine conflicts.

The Jews started migrating to Palastine because they are suffering in Europe (especially Poland), at then the British were ruling in Palastine, they initiated a Mandate called the British Mandate (1920). This guys started flying to Palastine some as refugees, while some as legal migrants. Later on they form an organization called Hagana Jewish Defense Organization. During World War II both Jews and Arabs formed an Allied force to fight the Nazi. Jews had a special motivation for fighting the Nazis because of Nazi persecution of Jews and growing suspicions that the Nazis were systematically exterminating the Jews of Europe. These suspicions were later confirmed, and the extermination of European Jews came to be known as the Holocaust.

The Jews of Palestine responded to the White Paper and the Holocaust by organizing illegal immigration to Palestine from occupied Europe, through the "Institution for Illegal Immigration" (Hamossad L'aliya Beth). Illegal immigration (Aliya Bet) was organized by the Jewish Agency between 1939 and 1942, when a tightened British blockade and stricter controls in occupied Europe made it impractical, and again between 1945 and 1948. Rickety boats full of refugees tried to reach Palestine. Additionally, there were private initiatives, an initiative by the Nazis to deport Jews and an initiative by the US to save European Jews. Many of the ships sank or were caught by the British or the Nazis and turned back, or shipped to Mauritius or other destinations for internment. The Patria (also called "Patra"wink contained immigrants offloaded from three other ships, for transshipment to the island of Mauritius. To prevent transshipment, the Haganah placed a small explosive charge on the ship on November 25, 1940. They thought the charge would damage the engines. Instead, the ship sank, and over 250 lives were lost. A few weeks later, the SS Bulgaria docked in Haifa with 350 Jewish refugees and was ordered to return to Bulgaria. The Bulgaria capsized in the Turkish straits, killing 280. The Struma, a vessel that had left Constanta in Rumania with about 769 refugees, got to Istanbul on December 16, 1941. There, it was forced to undergo repairs of its engine and leaking hull. The Turks would not grant the refugees sanctuary. The British would not approve transshipment to Mauritius or entry to Palestine. On February 24, 1942, the Turks ordered the Struma out of the harbor. It sank with the loss of 428 men, 269 women and 70 children. It had been torpedoed by a Soviet submarine, either because it was mistaken for a Nazi ship, or more likely, because the Soviets had agreed to collaborate with the British in barring Jewish immigration. Illegal immigration continued until late in the war, apparently without the participation of the Mossad l'aliya Bet. Despite the many setbacks, tens of thousands of Jews were saved by the illegal immigration.

Reports of Nazi atrocities became increasingly frequent and vivid. Despite the desperate need to find a haven for refugees, the doors of Palestine remained shut to Jewish immigration. The Zionist leadership met in the Biltmore Hotel in New York City in 1942 and declared that it supported the establishment of Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth. This was not simply a return to the Balfour declaration repudiated by the British White Paper, but rather a restatement of Zionist aims that went beyond the Balfour declaration, and a determination that the British were in principle, an enemy to be fought, rather than an ally.

On November 6, members of the Jewish Lehi underground Eliyahu Hakim and Eliyahu Bet Zuri assassinated Lord Moyne in Cairo. Moyne, a known anti-Zionist, was Minister of State for the Middle East and in charge of carrying out the terms of the 1939 White Paper - preventing Jewish immigration to Palestine by force. He was also a personal friend of Winston Churchill. The assassination did not change British policy, but it turned Winston Churchill against the Zionists. Hakim and Bet Zuri were caught and were hanged by the British in 1945.

The Jewish Agency and Zionist Executive believed that British and world reaction to the assassination of Lord Moyne could jeopardize cooperation after the war, that had been hinted at by the British, and might endanger the Jewish Yishuv if they came to be perceived as enemies of Britain and the allies. Therefore they embarked on a campaign against the Lehi and Irgun, known in Hebrew as the "Sezon" ("Season"wink. Members of the underground were to be ostracized. Leaders were caught by the Haganah, interrogated and sometimes tortured, and about a thousand persons were turned over to the British.

After the war, it was discovered that the Germans had murdered about six million Jews in Europe, in the Holocaust. These people had been trapped in Europe, because virtually no country would give them shelter. The Zionists felt that British restriction of immigration to Palestine had cost hundreds of thousands of lives. The Jews were now desperate to bring the remaining Jews of Europe, about 250,000 people being held in displaced persons camps, to Palestine.

In the summer of 1945, the Labor party came to power in Great Britain. They had promised that they would reverse the British White Paper and would support a Jewish state in Palestine. However, they presently reneged on their promise, and continued and redoubled efforts to stop Jewish immigration. The Haganah attempted to bring immigrants into Palestine illegally. The rival Zionist underground groups now united, and all of them, in particular the Irgun and Lehi ("Stern gang"wink dissident terrorist groups, used force to try to drive the British out of Palestine. This included bombing of trains, train stations, an officers club and British headquarters in the King David Hotel, as well as kidnapping and murder of British personnel. In Britain, newspapers and politicians began to demand that the government settle the conflict and stop endangering the lives of British troops.

The US and other countries brought pressure to bear on the British to allow immigration. An Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry recommended allowing 100,000 Jews to immigrate immediately to Palestine. The Arabs brought pressure on the British to block such immigration. The British found Palestine to be ungovernable and returned the mandate to the United Nations, successor to the League of Nations. The report of the Anglo-American Committee provided a detailed summary of the British mandate period and the security situation in Palestine, as well as a report on the effects of the Holocaust and the condition of European Jewry.

The United Nations Special Commission on Palestine (UNSCOP) recommended that Palestine be divided into an Arab state and a Jewish state. The commission called for Jerusalem to be put under international administration The UN General Assembly adopted this plan on Nov. 29, 1947 as UN Resolution (GA 181), owing to support of both the US and the Soviet Union, and in particular, the personal support of US President Harry S. Truman. Many factors contributed to Truman's decision to support partition, including domestic politics and intense Zionist lobbying, no doubt. Truman wrote in his diary, however, "I think the proper thing to do, and the thing I have been doing, is to do what I think is right and let them all go to hell."

Source: http://www.africafront.com/news/136/nigerian_president_becomes_ecowas_chairman.html

Having passed through the tests of the Election Petition Tribunals, Appeal Courts and the Nigerian Supreme Court and confirmed by the Apex Court in Nigeria as winner in the 2007 Elections, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua of Nigeria was today elected as the new Chairman of ECOWAS.

The President took over from the out-going Chairman and President of Burkina Faso, President Blaise Compaore at the 35th Ordinary Session of the Authority of the Heads of States and Governments of ECOWAS on Friday December 19 in Abuja.

In a communique issued at the end of the summit held in Abuja, Nigeria's federal capital city, ECOWAS leaders called for a regional strategy that would minimize the risks on the regional economy and urged Member States to strengthen the management and structural reform of their economies.

Nigerian President Umar Musa Yar'Adua who was elected Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government for the next one year after taking over from his Burkinabe counterpart, President Blaise Campaore has promised to take ECOWAS to greater heights while he pledged Nigeria's commitment to the expansion and increased effectiveness of the sub-regional body.

The meeting approved the appointment of three new judges for the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice to replace those due to retire early 2009 from the Court. Justices Mrs Clotilde Medegan Nougbode from Benin, Benfeito MOsso Ramos from Cape Verde and Eliam Monsedjoueni Potey from Cote d'Ivoire will serve for a four-year non-renewable term.

The Heads of Government warned that the global financial crisis could undermine the region's economic recovery and precipitate a reduction in foreign direct investment, remittances from migrant workers and a drop in commodity prices, the mainstay of the economies of most of the Member States.

The summit, however, discussed the twin issues of regional peace and security, particularly the situations in Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Cote d'Ivoire and Niger Republic. They also signed 10 supplementary Acts mostly in the areas of the environment, the management of water resources, community investment code, youth policy and the creation of the West Africa Regional Institute for Regional Integration.

You made reference to the crusades and all that, but were they successfulCompared to David and the Israelites in the old testament?? Were they in alignment with the New Testament? At a time the Israelites had to fight for the survival of their nation but that was in the old covenant. In the new covenant, it is no longer a physical battle but a Spiritual warfare. Christians are led by the new covenant.

Now also tell me, back here in Nigeria. How many Churches have preached to their congregation on Sunday to go out and kill all infidels and straight from church they go on a massive slaughter of non christians. NONE.

But this happens over and over again in the North where they are in the majority. They go on a killing spree right from the door step of their mosques. You see, it is embedded in the islamic religion, as proven from the verse I earlier quoted above.

Islam is not the solution. Jesus is the only way to God. Serve him and you'll truly enjoy the Righteousness, Joy and Peace of God.

Mohammed is an agent of darkness that has lured millions of people worldwide to the path that leads to death and destruction. Shine Your Eye and Serve the only Living God.
You need to go back to School and learn more about Islam from Muslims not from the Christian Missionaries.
If I want to learn about Christianity I usually go to Christian websites or ask a good christian, the same you should do.

Every scholar who takes the Bible literally agrees. This prophecy is in our future. Many believe it’ll likely be fulfilled as early as the summer of this year (2007). As evidence of this, here’s an excerpt from a report from the Jerusalem Newswire that I received this week. (June 24, 2007)

“Syria is making concrete preparations for war with Israel, and is anticipating such a conflict this coming summer.

According to reports carried in the Arab media Friday, the Assad government has already ordered, and carried out, the removal of the Government Archives and State Archives from Damascus to other locations.

Reports have circulated during the past two months that Syria is preparing its SCUD missile arsenal for war, including the VX gas warheads it has been working on producing for several years. It is widely believed that any attempt by Syria to introduce non-conventional warheads into a conflict with Israel will be met by an Israeli response that will destroy Damascus.” (www.jnewswire.com/article/1969)

What ever the case may be, culture matters most than religion, I am sure Yoruba Muslims will not start attacking Yoruba Christians or the reverse.

IBB will not even look at the North, what they are after was Oil Money, and North has not Oil now, so he will not even mind to become a President or Prime Minister of Arewa. It will be left with the masses of the Nation to decide the best.

@ Lagosboy,

Most systems of government were tried in Nigeria, the only true solution is to separate the nation logically and peacefully.

Yea I agree with you that there are Muslims in south, but they are considered Minority with less previlages while Christians are majority (Generally speaking of both, South West, South East, and South South).
