ogawisdom:
When one is still trying to build his capital base and get wealthy (make first 500m capital base), social life should not be a priority because it promotes wrong values like instant gratification, lifestyle inflation, short term thinking, spending to show off.

The funny thing is that you may be spending your capital to belong with men spending their ROI. A man should be comfortable being alone at the get wealthy phase of life to increase saving and investment rate. You don't need any unnecessary expense. Most of the rich gathering is about spending to show you belong. If they drink wine of 2m naira in their gathering that becomes your standard. Their value comes from cost cool. You are better off alone except you are chasing contract from them.
Exactly.

I was going to spend up to N70m of my capital in Q3 to show off, but I was so motivated to read that @sunrisepebble made over N100m in just one week of good market.

So I'd rather wait till when I can make even if N50m per week.

If someone is among those who doubt such figures, I wonder what benefits you ever get.

For me, I believe it, and i'm changing my decision.

The impact of this significant trimming i'll be doing will be over N200m in 2 years' time.

Thanks @ogawisdom for pointing out the bolded.

Thanks @sunrisepebble for reminding me how awesome our market can reward you if you're patient enough to put in the seeds.

Imagine if you had blown the capital on frivolities.

I'm so excited I didn't miss that post.

By the way, he did indeed mention 70k as his target during that crazy November sell off.

Of course you would find it hard to imagine now that the market is at 182k.

At the time , the market was crashing rapidly towards 130k, some of us saw the 180k as the more likely option, and now, we're enjoying being right.

pluto09:
He is definitely not waiting for market to go to 70k.
As long as he is making money, I don't see any problem with what he is doing, we are not here to complete.
Problem is that he's not making money.

So your point doesn't hold.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 2:47pm On Feb 13
pluto09:
He is not in the market.
He has a system in place that works for him which requires great discipline.
wHat his strategy needs to work is way beyond discipline, he's counting on macro economic instabilty that won't happen.

Abi, what kind of discipline will take the market to 70k, which is where he's waiting at.

If you do not realize that a strategy only shines when it's flexible, then you haven't learnt one of the most important lessons of the game.

if for whatever reason this market goes to 70k, I will still make money, cos all I'd have to do is simply switch from my bullish stance.

Just like in politics, one shouldn't be a permanent bull or permanent bear, only just have the permanent interest of making money.

Agba how far na , u sure say this your tool still dey work.. grin grin
part of the problem is them analyzing stocks as though they were cryptos which move without cause.

Companies keep posting improved results, yet you expect their share prices to crash 50%?

because of why?? Elon musk made a bad tweet??

better be careful in that space, even the US stocks too.

if the US stocks or cryptos appreciate by 20% and the Naira strengthens against the USD by 20%, you have no capital gain here. Only a strong dollar can help you here.
I already said last year that I wasn't doing cryptos anymore cos the gains aren't worth the stress of calculating taxes, and the time it takes to make the gains.

This was just me seeing what I thoght was a bargain I had idle cash, it was supposed to be a quick in and out.

But i'm super happy it crashed.
Cos the gains in my earnings in dollar terms so far this year is already much higher than whatever I lost in that position.

After lots of stubborn head (stickiness) USDT has now finally crashed to 1390 on Quidax.

It was dragging feet at 1440 before 😁

I bought 885k worth of Bitcoin just 2 weeks ago when it was around N113m (I thought I saw a bargain 😁😁)

I haven't even bothered to check how much red it's in now.

The crash is super sweet for my overall portfolio.

No I have better plan.To contribute it to make sure the failed government does not go beyond 2027.That way larger number of Nigerians will benefit more.So I will be joining political party for the first time
I hope you succeed.
Whatever will be in the best interest of the people is my own desire.

I'd rather people can conveniently pay their own rents instead of me being there to support, although I would if I have to.

Hope you didn't get charged for all the alerts
No.
My brokers' systems are already programmed to charge N4.3 per trade, whether the alerts come 0, 1 or 4 times per trade.

The issue seems to be unique to today's trades alone though.

My position then was political/economy. And it has never changed. This government still remains a failed one.If the ngx like Let it return 1000% it does not change my position about this government
I'm just saying profits are sweeter.

Plus with the profits you make on the NGX, you can touch 10, 100 or 1000 lives in areas where the government has failed them. Especially with your large portfolio size.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 9:36pm On Feb 12
1067 trades.

It just didn't seem normal, first I thought abi they sent alerts from another day alongside today's?

But I later found that it seems there's a bug in the notification service that's sending the alerts multiple times.

Like today I only sold MECURE once, but they gave me four notifications for it.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 8:33pm On Feb 12
From the trade alerts that have so far come in.

I made over 1000 deals today!

This means everyone - retail, institutional or foreign investors who traded in the market today had a 2% chance of either selling to me or buying from me 😎

I like how my place is being solidified in this market.

It's like you asking a 500k lux light to worry about darkness grin grin you see it's a misplaced worry. for 500k lux, it's instant death to any such darkness (village people in this context), not everyone is vulnerable to village people, some of us only make them shiver and we decide whether or not they should live. It's a privilege, but I have it.

Sounds like…..

“Goes fishing Monday to Friday. Like 10 lines all in the stream. Whatever tugs at the line he hauls in. Pulls in all the lines at the close of the day and goes home to prepare for the next day”

The lines could be e.g 10 million, 1 million, 100,000, or anything. Requires a lot of discipline to pull all the lines in at the end of the day. Not a strategy for just anyone. Luckily on NGX no loss ( line) can exceed 10%. Maybe awesomeJ would throw more light on his strategy. Main issue...how to pick the daily winners.
Strategy is proprietary sir 😁

Although it's important to state that it's not entirely physical. Something along the lines of the race is not to the swift.

Ok so if I get you correctly, you build a portfolio that mirrors the index.
So how many stocks do you have at a given time in your portfolio and how long do you hold.
Angel no mind d many questions oh
It's easier if I just tell you I only use the NGX as a channel to receive funds, cos I like it.

I'm not the one who sends the funds or fills the orders, that's why i'm shocked to see about 1350 trade alerts in just 2 days.
