ba7man: C'mon, you know the people that send adverts to newspapers congratulating this person or that. They're attention seekers and its a normal trend in this Country. I can bet that if we see the advert page, the truth will unfold.Well let's see the advert page..but till then what APGA is saying is that this advert was ended with "SIGNED-GOV BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA"...so that's the fuse..whether someone placed in the advert is entirely a different thinbg altogether..Let Fashola defend himself...and lastly how do you mean by fashola is not a politician |
ba7man: Any body that knows enough about printing and politics will know that its psychophants that rush to congratulate politicians and political appointments in Newspapers.Always quick to defend Fashola and anything that affects your tribe..So because Fashola was inspecting projects he couldn't send an advert to a newspaper for publishing again?..let me even ask what's the process ƒσя submitting an advertorial?... |
The same Ngige that could not tender a single bill for two years or even oppose some evil bills is now claiming a federal project...Who doesn't know NIPP projects are jointly sponsored by Federal, state and Local govts..look @ how he mischievously termed it an IPP project... As more of this NIPP projects come on stream and as PHCN workers are paid their severance package this week or early next week...Nigerians will begin to feel the positive effects of the power sector reform... |
Jonathan will never reshuffle his cabinet...let's wait and see... |
payless: If that is the case, why did Jonathan and Goodswill Akpabio fight tooth and nail to make Jang the Chairman? Nonsense! We are talking about strengthening of institutions empowered by law...NGF is primarily an INTEREST group and never an institution as it is not known to our statue books..and in politics interest is permanent...so? |
@ Payless...NGF is not a body known to the Nigerian Constitution and the president has not direct or indirect powers over ...so it can't be an institution to be strengthened...NGF is registered in the corporate affairs commission...So what's the fuse all about... |
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria says it supports the expulsion of 67 beggars and destitute by the Lagos State Government to the Upper Iweka Bridge, Onitsha, Anambra State. The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, on Tuesday, said the action of the state government would go a long way in reducing crime in the state. Igbokwe said, "To put the records straight, the Lagos State Government, with its commitment to the interests of Lagosians, had long embarked on the decision to pick up the many derelicts, the homeless, beggars and social miscreants that inhabit all parts of Lagos. "The government cleans them up, finds means of livelihood for those that are employable and sends those it cannot manage to their respective states. "We are all aware that this scheme has seen the practical reduction in the number of the beggars, street urchins and social miscreants that used to constitute real danger to life in Lagos and has seen such people moved back to various states, mainly in the North." He said before the state government embarked on the action, the Anambra State Government had been contacted but no response was received from it. Igbokwe berated politicians, whom he said were using the opportunity to play politics. He said, "We also put the nation on notice that before the latest movement of some people to Onitsha, we notified the Anambra State government, which neither responded nor took action on our complaint. "We also want the public to note that the Lagos State Government was involved in a similar deal with the Akwa Ibom State Government when some indigent Lagosians were moved back from Akwa Ibom State to Lagos." Igbokwe however assured all Igbos living in Lagos to be rest assured as the state was still conducive for all those who wanted to do business. The Federal Government on Wednesday said N16bn had been approved for the payment of the entitlements of retirees and pensioners of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria in preparation for the conclusion of the privatisation of the power sector. This is in addition to the N384bn earlier approved as severance package for employees of the power firm before the company is fully privatised.Hence, the government will from this week pay a total of N400bn to the workers, retirees and pensioners of the PHCN. The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has also directed the power distribution companies to resolve all issues surrounding the unfair billing and metering of electricity consumers. Nebo, according to a statement from the Federal Ministry of Power, further assured that "at the end of the ongoing privatisation, Nigerians will heave a sigh of relief as generator importers will soon be eased out of business." The statement added, "The minister has directed the commencement of the payment of severance package to PHCN staff, on which about N384bn is going to be expended with additional N16bn to pay other retirees and pensioners of the company. "Nebo (also) directed that all issues surrounding metering and unfair billing should be resolved immediately without any Nigerian being short-changed." The minister said these while answering questions on a television programme on Wednesday in Abuja. Nebo said the neglect of the sector was as a result of the wrong notion that classified power as a social welfare service. He observed that it was only in 1999 when Nigeria returned to democracy that the gross neglect of the sector was addressed. Citing an instance, the minister said for 17 years, no single engineer was hired in the power sector, stressing that this huge gap in human capacity required to run the sector was being bridged with the ongoing recruitment of young Nigerian engineers. Nebo said the country was currently generating more than 4,000 megawatts of electricity, adding that before the present administration, the country was producing just over 2,000MW. "From 2,000MW in 2010 to the current 4,500MW, is this not an achievement?" he asked. The minister, however, stated that all hands must be on deck to improve power generation as the present capacity of 4,000MW was unacceptable considering the nation's population and potential. Nebo further explained that the government was committed to diversifying the energy generation capacity to include renewable sources such as wind, solar, coal, biomass and hydro. On the previously moribund Rural Electrification Agency, he said the present administration had revived it and made it to be more effective in the provision of electricity off grid to rural dwellers. He gave an assurance that the revolution in the telecoms sector would be a child's play when compared with what was about to happen in the power sector, stressing that huge investments were expected from the ongoing privatisation exercise when completed. EUROBOMBER: We may not be there yet but certainly on the right path. A journey of one thousand miles begins with a step. Let us learn to give some credit when deserved. You even get time the reply him..can't you see clearly his intent and where exactly he is heading to... If govt brings out the required amount of dollars to build airports of such quality as he is advocating..he will be the 1st to shout that airports aint our problem but roads, rail, power and be sure he will make reference to ASUU.. His type nothing satisfies him as long is not done by his favoured ones |

Op thanks for bringing this info to public knowledge..I have been trying to create this sort of thread but the situation of that road made me keep away entirely from that Vicinity.. However,I disagree that the road is a federal road..it only links two villages within IMO state i.e Nekede and Ihiagwa... I hope Abagworo and other Rochas apologists can bring this info to the knowledge of our amiable governor.. |
ak47mann: This ngige omume ndi ohe mmalu abago ya obala......is he now the minister in charge of power or GEJ that made it possible? My brother..see how Ngige is struggling to claim glory over a project clearly executed by the GEJ led FG..yes Ngige as Vice-chairman of the senate committee on power might have played a role in bringing the substation to life but sidelining the FG and trying to claim glory is not just right.. One positive to draw from here is that whenever the ACN guys claim that the govt is doing nothing in power..we can reference them to this thread... Finally...Fresh Air!!! |
If you read the news..you will see that what ASUU president said is not different from what Suswam said...@ least there is a meeting today and on Thursday... |
PapaBrowne: This is the reason I tell opposition figures to stop making all the noise and go and strategize. What you said about the 15 million farmers on the GES database is the real deal..those farmers no how their life was before the advent of GES and how it is now with the introduction of GES...Nobody will dump something that provides food on his table and move to an uncertain area that is only full of promise.. This is about international flights leaving directly from Enugu to major cities in the world.Something that has never happened before and a promise fufilled by the current administration. Pls I demand that either the thread is pushed to the front page or brought back to this section. This is in the interest of fairness and unbias.I look forward to you guys doing the right thing. Thanks |

PapaBrowne: Some fellows are just simply unintelligent!! So you want Jonathan to steal money like Tinubu and use it to build fertilizer plants in his name before you understand that the role of Government is to create an enabling environment?Lol..this your last paragraph na ogbonge advise...I hope he takes a cue from it..and thanks for the links.. @billante...don't mind them..its called deep hatred... |
Wow...good one..I hope all logistics have been put in place.. Kudos to Stella Oduah and GEJ for making this dream come true... |
simpleseyi: Is Dangote Urea/fertilizer plant being built with FG or GEJ's money? Is Indorma or Notore also owned by FG or GEJ. My friend, list GEJ achievements apart from his 10 presidential jets when other nations' chief executives have one or two while some fly commercial airlinesWhen companies close shop who do you blame?...seems you don't know about what is called creating an investment friendly environment...Do you know Indorama (formerly Eleme Petrochemical company) was govt owned before it was privitized. You think under the old scheme of fertilizer distribution that this companies can set up profitable firms.Ever heard about the Growth Enhancement scheme(GES)? it is your likes that will ask how it is GEJ that brought stable power when the private owners take over PHCN and start providing the much needed power... Quit hating and appreciate good thing... |
On my own I have gone around to clear mis-conceptions about the person of GEJ and his administration to people I know or come across...and what most end up of telling me is that they will believe when light becomes stable..I have no doubt that this will happen based on what has been delivered so far.. No amount of propaganda can change the facts on ground...Fresh air everywhr u go.. #AveSignedIn...#Gejite |

The chairman violated checkpoint regulations. Soldiers on Thursday inflicted corporal punishment on a local government chairman in Borno State. The caretaker chairman of Hawul Local Government Area, Daniel Malang, received severe corporal punishment in the hands of the Joint Task Force for allegedly breaking checkpoint regulations and talking rudely to soldiers. Mr. Malang, who reportedly has a reputation for breaking traffic rule especially at military check post ran out of luck when he attempted to shunt his way across a long queue of vehicles along Maiduguri-Biu road. A PREMIUM TIMES reporter who witnessed the incident heard the chairman telling the soldiers that “don’t you know me? I am the executive chairman of Hawul local government.” A soldier, unimpressed with Mr. Malang’s statement responded by saying “does this place resemble Hawul local government; even if na Hawul be this, does that give you the license to break my order by not following the queue?” The soldier ordered the council boss to park his Peugeot 406 car and asked him to come out for frog-jump alongside his driver while other motorists watched on. The soldiers kept the chairman there for hours before he was later freed with a stern warning not to repeat such act again. Sources close to the chairman said he recently suffered similar fate in Biu when soldiers gave him a similar treatment for breaking check-post regulation. Borno is currently under emergency rule and has a heavy presence of soldiers to check the insurgency by the Boko Haram and other crimes. In this administration when govt says "TO" they eventually "DO"...that's the difference...Fresh air keep blowing ooooo |
Our attention has been drawn to the activities and pronouncements of the Governors of Adamawa, Jigawa, Kano and Niger States who have been going round the country inciting tension and division with the obvious intention of destabilizing the government of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The objective of these activities,as they themselves trumpeted is to get a “northerner” by which they mean Hausa Fulani, replace President Jonathan in 2015, or even by any means possible. After meeting with Rivers State Governor Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi in controversial circumstances aimed at inciting tension between the Niger Delta and other parts of Nigeria, the group proceeded to Abeokuta to see General Olusegun Obasanjo and therefter to Minna to meet with Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar to “report” President Goodluck Jonathan. They reportedly asked the two Generals to intervene in a way that will make “our dreams become a reality”. General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, the man who annulled the June 12 elections and championed the northern consensus programme that excluded Dr. Sarah Jibril, thereafter declared them patriots for their actions. It is obvious to see the direction these people are coming from. Like Ango Abdullahi and a few others crying themselves hoarse about “it is the turn of the North(arewa) in 2015” it is inconceivable and totally unacceptable to them to be out of power “for so long” . As far as they are concerned only them should rule Nigeria, notwithstanding the fact that the Hausa Fulani North have had as President and Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa , Alhaji Usman Aliyu Shehu Shagari, and Alhaji Umaru Musa YarAdua. They have had, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Alhaji Namadi Mohammed Sambo as Vice Presidents. General Obasanjo of the South West was President for eight years, and Yar ‘Adua’s eight years would not have been debated if God had not ruled otherwise by allowing the cold hands of death on May 5, 2010 to snatch him away from us. Yar’ Adua’s erstwhile Deputy, from one of the many minority ethnic groups naturally contested and, thanks to the support from his native South South, South East, Middle Belt and South West, won the 2011 Presidential Election. This is the first time Nigeria’s Leader has emerged from the South South. For Aliyu Muazu Babangida, the man who voted against President Goodluck Jonathan during the PDP Primaries and in the 2011 general elections, Jonathan should not have been elected in the first place and anything done to get him out as quickly as possible is patriotism, hence the desperation. It would have been funny were it not so rude, incorrect and based on a flawed understanding of the dynamics playing out in Nigeria today. Secondly the patriotism which these gentlemen were adorned with by General Ibrahim Babangida must be based on the recent “disgrace” they meted out to Governor David Jonah Jang. Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former Right Honourable Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, when Babangida was military president gloated that they played politics on Jang and President Jonathan, when he, Kwankwaso at a meeting presided over by Aliyu Babangida, and attended by other northern Governors, nominated Jang as consensus candidate for the NGF chairmanship only to dump him a few hours after. Hapless Jang, who had no intention of contesting for the chairmanship of the NGF, was left stranded? or so they wished. How will this not be patriotism to General Ibrahim Babangida? During Babangida’s transition to civil rule programme General Yakubu Gowon had the same Jang treatment meted to him when he was asked to start his option A4 presidential bid from Zaria. What is more? Kwankwaso gleefully related what happened to the media and said they wanted to teach Jonathan politics. To nominate someone who was not interested in an office with the intention of disgracing him shows how honourable Kwankwaso really is. And Jang’s constituency, the Middle Belt, is supposed to be amused by such a shoddy treatment of our own? We are supposed to nod our heads enthusiastically when the establishment cries “there is only one indivisible north”! Besides, can these Honourable men whose words don’t mean anything to them be trusted when they speak of one north? How will you know when they want to teach politics and when they are telling the truth? A section of the North overwhelmingly voted for Buhari in 2011. As a matter of fact Kwankwaso in Kano printed campaign posters with the pictures of Buhari superimposed on them. Aliyu Muazu and Murtala Nyako voted for Buhari in the 2011 elections. The President got about 18% of the votes in Kano. Yet President Goodluck Jonathan has bent surprisingly backward to accommodate and make them the mainstay of his government. The fact that they nominated most ministers and senior political appointees has not satisfied them. They are working assiduosly hard to throw him out before the end of his tenure. We reaffirm our position that post-Goodluck Ebele Jonathan presidency is for the Middle Belt. We in the Middle Belt do not agree with the agitation that power should leave the Niger Delta now. By the natural reconfiguration of the zoning formula as a result of the natural death of President Umaru Musa Yar Adua, the Niger Delta is still supported by the Middle Belt to conclude its eight year tour of duty. It is significant to note that the artificial security challenges created by those who said that they would make the country ungovernable are being addressed; the railway lines which stopped working during the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida have slowly but steadily started to work; massive power transmission lines are being installed across the country. In terms of performance therefore, those persecuting Jonathan cannot claim to have performed as much as he has let alone say better. On Governor Amaechi and the orchestrated tension in Rivers State, we wish to align ourselves with the advice given to him by Yinka Odumakin, and echoed by the South South Peoples Assembly; We wish to remind him that those who ride on the tiger back end up in its belly. Those who are clapping for him now to weaken and or undermine President Jonathan love him only to the extent that he keeps undermining Jonathan. Not long from now they will give him the Gowon, Abiola and Jang treatment. Amaechi and his cohorts should remember how the Northern People’s Congress (NPC) used Akintola to weaken Awolowo’s support base in the early 1960s; The people of South South are not so unwise calculators that will prefer the number two position of Governor Adams Oshiomhole or Rotimi Amaechi to the number one? Come on! We wish to remind the South South citizens that the Northern agenda, as championed by these Governors, is to use a southerner to destroy a southerner and nothing more. These characters lauded as patriots are but cheap traitors running an unpopular script that is doomed to fail.A word is enough for the wise.Abi-O. Honourable Aminu Zang Member, House of Representatives -1993 For the Secretariat Source:www.reubenabati.com.ng/The-acirc-North-acirc-Deceit-and-Illusions-of.html |

taharqa2: Complete Removal of Immunity now in today's Nigerian political climate wud be a terrible mistake, regardless of what we all agree may be severe need for it. The negative consequence of such a move, in terms of practicali grounding the same thing we hope to improve by removing d clause- governance, wud far exceed any possible intended benefits..... I say look for other smarter but effective means to hold Chief Executives to account when they do wrong, including making them pay for such wrongs whilst still in service, without exposing the whole system to the shallowness of d current Nigeria's Political craze. Proposals like d Separatn of d Office of d Attorney General from that of d Justice Minister and hence away from d direct Apron Strings of d Executives at both Federal and State levels And Financial Autonomy of d State Houses of Assembly, which were also passed by d House (and I think d Senate) readily come to mind...Exactly...let the office of the Attorney General be seperated from the Justice Minister..and let the office be an independent entity.. |
@omasogood pls can you create a thread for your post above or maybe I can help? |
kokoA: I agree with you on the local government issue, but completely disagree on the immunity issue. We are all equal before the law. President, governors and their deputies will be forced to behave properly if this "immunity" thing is taken out of our constitution knowing fully well that they can be summoned by the court of law to answer for their misdeeds. You mentioned 'distraction'.. My brother, let's be sincere, now that they are not being 'distracted', can you vouch that they are going about their duties to the best of their abilities? When I say distractions I mean people bringing up all sort of frivolous applications..and instead of concentrating on the work @ hand the official involved will spend time fighting court cases and remember public funds will be spent pursuing this cases...don't forget since they still fire and hire they can also have a great influence on the jury |
