EreluRoz:
My dad's driver son is right here in our house and he's the first child of his dad, he's totally different from the rest, he doesn't look like his dad neither does he look like his mum, there's no resemblance from both parents at all.

I stylishly dig up stories of how his mum was married because he's been driving my dad even before I was born and I was told she was already pregnant before the marriage ceremony was held and as at that time of their wedding, the woman lived in a different state, she just came and told him she was pregnant and that was how marriage happened .

I have watched this boy from head to toe so I can see at least one feature in resemblance but I didn't see anything, not even from the mom, he's just totally different. The other kids are ok, two share a striking resemblance with their dad while the last took after her mom but with some of the dad features, so are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Should I tell my dad my observation? What do you think?

Trust me, mine sounds like a comedy movie, but it's 100% real.

I'll give the first half first.

So I have a boss who speaks German ad married a German woman. They had two German wicked shepherd dogs.(notice I put the wicked after the German and not before the German to show you how wicked the dogs are)

Off course I dont need to tell you also that the dogs don't hear English grin grin my boss and his wife speaks only German to the dogs.

They only hear German. So that way, if you are a thief and the dog jam you, even when you beg with please, the dogs can't hear you. They'll just be saying amen to their food while it's praying.

Edit
Part 2 cont
Now anytime someone is coming to my boss's house, he will tell you to wait , let him chain the dogs. Then when every where is safe, he will open the gate for you.

So one fateful day, boss sends for me and my colleague who also doubles as my project supervisor. In the car, I tell him if it's safe to enter because everyone in the office has heard of how terrible those dogs are. (I was just a new employee then)

He tells me no issues, oga will lock them up.
I say ok o. God will see me through.

Let me go and drink water first, the memories of that day is making my hands shake. grin
I'll be back

You never drink water finish?

Religion / Re: How Did We End Up With So Many Churches? by Ayomiposi001: 10:44am On Sep 18, 2023
WHERE DID THEY ALL COME FROM?
1 Tim. 4:1-11
Oguneme, Ifeanyi Augustus
Church of Christ, Koso, Oyo town.

I. Christ founded but one church - Matthew 16:18
A. It belongs solely to him. It is not a democracy - Matthew 28:18
1. He is the head of the church - Ephesians 1:22-23
2. We must keep the commandments because he is the only Sovereign - I Timothy 6:13-16
B. It is Christ’s desire that his followers be united - John 17:20-21
1. The Scriptures teach that the Godhead is composed of three beings: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; yet, they are united in purpose, work and nature such that there is a complete oneness about them.
2. It is a oneness that husbands and wives strive to emulate - Matthew 19:6
C. The church promised by Christ was fulfilled
1. Some would see the kingdom, the church, come in their lifetime - Mark 9:1
2. Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem - Acts 1:3-8
3. They received power from God on the day of Pentecost, which Peter said fulfilled Joel’s prophecy - Acts 2:16-21
4. People were baptized and added to the church - Acts 2:37-41,46-47
D. But that harmony sought by Christ is not seen in modern times
1. Would you suppose that the Father is a Pentecostal, the Son a Lutheran, and the Spirit a Mormon? Would that be one?
2. Could we imagine Paul establishing the Methodist Church while Peter began the Baptist Church?
3. People wish to claim unity, not because it exists, but because they ignore the differences
a. Such division does not come from God! - I Corinthians 14:33
b. It is only by being one that the world will be converted - John 17:21
c. If unity promotes belief, then what does division create?

II. The history
A. In the beginning there were no denominations.
1. In whatever town you went, the church was the same
2. Oh, the problems in each church varied, but when you entered a town, you did not have 75 denominations to choose from
a. A large city might have more than one church meeting in its borders, but those churches were the same kind of church
3. They followed the same creed, recorded in the pages of the Bible
4. The foundation of their faith was in this teaching - Romans 10:17
5. For the first few hundred years the only authority for faith was the Bible, though there were often many arguments about what the Bible actually said about various matters.

B. Beginning of creeds
1. In the 2nd century a man named Marcion started teaching that there were two Gods. He thought the Old Testament referred to a tyrannical God who created a flawed world. He believed that Jesus revealed a good God of love and mercy.

2. The Old Roman Creed was developed to counter Marcion’s followers and was intended to be recited at baptism.
a. It was lightly modified and began being called the Apostles’ Creed around AD 390 because a belief developed that the apostles each wrote a line of the creed before leaving Jerusalem.

3. But earlier, in the late 4th century, a man named Arius started teaching that the Christ was not divine, that he was not God incarnate (God inhabiting human flesh). This caused a major controversy among Christians.

4. About this time Constantine was the Roman Emperor and he was sympathetic toward Christians, unlike prior emperors
a. He invited church leaders to meet at Nice in A.D. 325 to settle this dispute.
b. After much discussion and study, they came to an agreement that the Bible did indeed teach that Jesus was God in the flesh.
b. As a result, they wrote the Nicene Creed, which was bound on the believers at that time

5. Until this point, a believer’s faith rested in the Bible, but now documents written by men were made equal to the Bible.

a. Thus, began the apostasy predicted by the writers of the New Testament - I Timothy 4:1-4; II Thessalonians 2:3

C. The Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches
1. In A.D. 380 the Roman Emperor Theodosius declared Christianity to be the state religion.
a. A drastic switch from when Christians were persecuted by Romans and died for their faith.
b. The church grew rapidly, but people were often not truly converted. Instead, they brought into the church their pagan practices.
2. Due to competition between the bishops of Rome and Constantinople regarding who has highest authority in the church, both took on the title of Universal Bishop in A.D. 606. The following year, Boniface III took on the title of Pope and Universal Father.
a. This disagreement festered until it eventually led to a split that formed the Roman Catholic and the Orthodox churches in A.D. 1054
b. They each had a set of documents that formed the traditions which defined their different beliefs
b. Catholic Catechism and Orthodox Liturgical Rites

3. The Roman Catholics try to bolster their claim to be the head of the church by claiming a succession of popes prior to A.D. 606, starting with Peter as the first pope.
a. The problem is that historically there were no popes before.
c. In Roman Catholicism, priests and popes are unmarried; yet, Peter was married - Matthew 8:14

4. The Orthodox churches divided by region
a. Four main groups are the Eastern Orthodox, the Oriental Orthodox, the Assyrian Church of the East, and the Eastern Catholic church
c. Their beliefs and practices differ

D. Lutheran
1. When we get to the middle ages, the Romans Catholic church had grown very corrupt and powerful.
a. Thousands were put to death for disagreeing with the church, or for simply owning a Bible.
b. From this grew oppositions to the church

2. One famous protest against the church was lead by Martin Luther. He had studied to be a priest, but he tried to reform the church and was met by opposition.
a. He wrote his objections and nailed them to the door of a church in Wittenburg, Germany, in 1517.
b. For that he was excommunicated in 1520
c. This lead to the formation of the Lutheran Church in 1530
d. Luther actually begged his followers not to use his name, but they persisted.
d. His teachings were formalized into what is called “Luther’s Catechism”

2. Luther’s opposition did eventually cause reforms to take place in the Roman Catholic church

3. However, his opposition to the Roman Catholic ideas of salvation by works caused him to go too the other extreme and he taught salvation by faith alone.
a. Faith is a major element of salvation, but the Bible teaches that we are saved by an obedient faith - Romans 16:26-27
b. Specifically, the Bible says we are NOT saved by faith alone - James 2:24

E. Anglican
1. In the same era, Henry VIII was king of England. He was married to Catherine of Aragon, the widow of his older brother and daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain (who financed Columbus’ voyage).
a. She produced no male heirs to the throne, so Henry wanted out of the marriage.
b. He petitioned the Pope for an annulment, but Catherine’s nephew, Charles V, was now the Holy Roman Emperor and he advised the Pope not to grant the annulment.
c. Meanwhile Henry met Anne Boleyn. Tired of waiting, Henry broke off from the Roman Catholic church and set up his own church with himself being the head. Now he could do as he wish.
e. He ended up marrying six times and beheaded four of his wives.

2. The new church is called the Church of England and to clarify its beliefs, it has the Book of Common Prayer, first written in 1549.
a. As it spread to other countries, it became known as the Anglican Church
b. Except in the United States, where there was so much hatred for the British after the Revolutionary War, that the group here changed its name to the Episcopal Church.

3. Because it wasn’t started because of differences in religious beliefs, the Anglican Church retained many Roman Catholic practices and beliefs.

F. Presbyterian
1. Meanwhile, John Calvin lead a reformation in Switzerland. Like Luther, the initial attempt was to reform the Roman Catholic Church. When it failed, a new church was formed.
2. The Presbyterian Church used Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion (1536)
3. Calvinism is based on the idea of God’s complete sovereignty - to the extent that God predestined some people to be saved while others are lost.
a. In a sense, Calvin believed that all of our lives were pre-programmed by God.
b. This doesn’t match the Bible. Consider Jeremiah 7:31. If God didn’t think of it, then how could it be predestined?
c. Also, this contradicts the idea of free will - John 7:17
4. Of course, a new denomination needs a document defining it, which for the Presbyterians is the Westminster Confession of Faith

G. Baptists
1. For a long while there were groups in England and Europe abandoning Roman Catholicism for simple worship as found in the Bible
a. Among many beliefs, these groups rejected the idea of infant baptism, insisting that baptism is for adults based on faith.
(1) In a world influenced by Roman Catholicism, that was seen as condemning children to hell because of the belief that children are born sinful.
b. They also practiced baptism by immersion, even though everyone else was using sprinkling or pouring at the time - Acts 8:38-39
2. John Smythe is usually cited as the founder of the Baptist Church, but it can be shown he was actually withdrawn from by the church he was associated with and he died in 1612 unable to join any group because of his belief in successionist baptism.
3. Rather, the Baptists were a liberal element of these earlier groups that gradually strayed; traced back to the early to mid-1600's.
a. “The Baptist movement was born in the midst of the ferment and evolution of the English Church in the seventeenth century. Originally a collection of hole-in-the wall dissenters who were easily confused with Seekers, Ranters, Quakers, and political anarchists, Baptists rose to positions of prominence and respectability by 1700 in England and Wales.” [“A People Called Baptists”, Christianity Today].
b. “By 1624, there were five known General Baptist churches and by 1650 they numbered at least 47.” [Chris Traffanstedt, “A Primer on Baptist History”].
c. It is important to note this because Baptist often wish to claim other earlier groups as being Baptist, even though the teachings were different
4. This group became influenced by Calvin’s teachings. For example, believing that once a person is saved, he cannot be lost.
a. “We believe the Scriptures teach that such as are truly regenerate, being born of the Spirit, will not utterly fall away and perish” [Hiscox, Standard Manual for Baptist Churches, p. 67].
b. “The way a man lives has nothing to do with the salvation of his soul” [Sam Morris, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Stamford, Texas, “A Discussion which Involves a Subject Pertinent to All Men,” p. 1-2].
c. Compare this to John 15:1-6 and Hebrews 3:12
5. They also eventually changed their minds about baptism
a. “It is most likely that in the Apostolic Age when there was but ‘one Lord, one faith, and one baptism,’ and no differing denominations existed ... ‘baptism was the door into the church.’ Now it is different ... The churches therefore have candidates ... give their ‘experience,’ and then their reception is decided by a vote of the members.” [Hiscox, Standard Manual for Baptist Churches, p. 22].
b. Why should it be different?

H. Methodists
1. In 1729, Charles Wesley was dissatisfied with the formal ritualism of the Church of England. He formed the “Holy Club” with fellow students at Oxford. His brother, John, joined the club.
a. They established a set of rules to follow each day to improve their spiritual lives.
b. Fellow students taunted them, calling them Methodists, for following methods (rules) daily.
2. That list of rules became a book called, “The Methodist Discipline”
a. “We have therefore expected that the DISCIPLINE would be administered, not merely as a legal document, but as a revelation of the Holy Spirit working in and through our people.”[The Methodist Discipline, 1964, p. 1]
b. Thus, they place this man-made document on the same level as the Bible
3. Initially a sect within the Church of England, it gradually separated into its own denomination by the late 1700's to early 1800's.

I. Mormons
1. Around 1827, Joseph Smith claimed an angel revealed golden plates to him containing the message of the Book of Mormon.
2. This lead to the establishment of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in 1830. It is popularly know as the Mormon Church.
3. Other books were added to the Book of Mormon, including Doctrines and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price.
4. Among its many strange teachings:
a. “In 1876, section 101 from the 1835 edition (and subsequent printings) was removed. Section 101 was a "Statement on Marriage" as adopted by an 1835 conference of the church, and contained the following text:
(1) “Inasmuch as this Church of Christ has been reproached with the crime of fornication and polygamy, we declare that we believe that one man should have one wife, and one woman but one husband, except in the case of death, when either is at liberty to marry again.
(2) “This section was removed because it had been superseded by section 132 of the modern LDS edition, recorded in 1843, which contains a revelation received by Joseph Smith on eternal marriage and plural marriage, the principles of which can be dated to as early as 1831.” [Wikipedia]
(3) Section 132 basically states that unless one practices polygamy, there is no hope of obtaining the highest reward in heaven.
(4) Of course, this contradicts the Bible - Matthew 19:4-6
b. They also teach that Adam is now God of our world and that men can rise to become gods in other worlds.
(1) “He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost. And who is the father? He is the first of the human family. Jesus, our eldest brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character who was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in heaven.” [Journal of Discourses, V. 1, pp. 50-51]
(a) Notice that this would make Mary an adulteress.
(2) The Bible teaches that God is Spirit - John 4:24
(3) Spirit does not have flesh and bone - Luke 24:39
(4) Plus the fact that God pre-existed the creation of the world

III. We could go on with hundreds of other groups and ‘churches’ that you know there founder, but these illustrate how the religious world that claims to follow Christ became so divided.
A. In every case books are added to the Bible, written by men, to define how their group is different from all the rest.
1. Some claim that their books are from God, but if they were, they would not contradict the Bible or each other - I Corinthians 14:33
2. Truth does not contradict itself - John 17:17
B. As Jesus told the Pharisees - Matthew 15:9
1. Following such teachings is a waste of time because they will not lead you to God and to heaven. Rom. 16:17-18

NA 2K ME I NEED LIKE THIS. MAKE I JUST USE HOLD BODY FOR WEEKEND. IF YOU FIT HELP, I GO APPRECIATE. 0124.17.02.35 Gtb

sukkot:
See at this point I don't understand most Nigerians anymore. Every time I offer a helping hand to Nigerians they turn to your enemy. I don't understand the dynamics behind it. The whole interaction just gets very awkward after that . It's like they hate you for " humbling " them. It never fails.

But the ones who have a pure friendly relationship with you? Are the ones you haven't given anything yet. So in my everyday life person to person I try to do charity because charity covers a multitude of sins and givers never lack.

So this is a recent case study. This young guy , a security guard was sent by the company to guard the house I stay. I would say about 19 years old. One night I went grocery shopping and I was going through the gate he runs over from across the street and told me he was hungry. So I said what does he eat ? He said he likes indomie . So I went to my place and brought out like 5 indomie and 3 soft drinks and 2 sardines and gave it to him. He thanked me.

Every 2 days when I go out I would do small grocery shopping for him. Indomie and biscuits and soft drinks sardine or bread. A few times when I go out to get bottled palmwine for myself I would get him palmwine or orijin beer he likes. But I started noticing his entitlement behaviour like on the days when I don't buy him anything he would time when I Am coming home and sit beside my door when he sees me carrying my own groceries and he would be looking at me like he is depressed. And he would Always be watching me to see if I am going grocery shopping and he would hang around the car to see if I would come out with grocery.

Let's just say this guy got ridiculously stalkerish and so I called him up 4 days ago and asked him has his salary being paid yet? He said yes. Because am thinking all these things he is doing because he is new on the job and has no money and is hungry so I put up with it for like a month.

But once he told me yes that he had being paid, I in a roundabout way told him I don't tolerate the stalking. That he doesn't need to be following me or waiting on me. Anyway since that day this guy just turned into an enemy. Someone who I have been buying groceries for for almost a whole month just turned hostile like that. Now all that time I was buying him grocery he would do ass kissing stuff like when I drop my black trash bag outside my door he would take it to the bin outside for me but since that day the guy just bone my trash bags lol.

Anyway the point here is this ? You create an enemy unknowingly out of those you help - not family members- because I think it is humiliating for them and they despise you for it, so if you are going to offer charity don't offer it to people you have to see on a daily basis. Just find a beggar in the street that you would never see again. Nigerians are funny, they beg you for money but they hate you for giving them that money especially if it is not a life changing amount.

It's like a guy I gave 5000 naira one time and he thought it was an insult, just a regular guy who I don't even know like that, God is my witness, which 5000 is no money but it was just for him to buy beer for the weekend, you can get 15 beers with 5000 when I gave it to him.

So out here on these streets you have to be savage. No more mr nice guy ooo lol. basically if you are not offering guys over 100k just forget it cuz they would hate you. look for a real beggar who would appreciate 5000 or 1000.

IF YOU THINK CHRISTMAS IS FOR CHRISTIANS, I WILL ASK THAT YOU GIVE A BIBLE REFERENCE TO THE DATE AND MONTH THAT CHRIST WAS BORN FROM THE BIBLE.

A Biblical Look at Tithing

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1). Men cherish freedom in every way. However, man is often led from freedom to bondage unaware. Men have been under various yokes of bondage at various times. All men without Christ are under the yoke of sin and Satan (Romans 6:17; 7:14; Acts 26:18). Men are sometimes under the yoke of slavery (I Timothy 6:1). And some men, like the Jews of Jesus’ day, are under the yoke of religious bondage (Matthew 11:28). In the above text, Galatians 5:1, Paul speaks of the yoke of bondage under the law. Jesus Christ died on the cross to redeem men from the law (Galatians 4:4-5). Yet many people today, like these Galatians, subject themselves to this yoke of bondage in many ways.

Many religious leaders who found churches today do so to enrich themselves. They are motivated by a desire for money, and so they commercialize the Christian religion, whereby they lay all kinds of burdens on people for selfish advantage. They pervert the Scriptures and create unnecessary fear in people, thus bringing them under a kind of religious bondage.

One of these yokes of bondage is the imposition of tithing on people. To achieve their aim, they threaten people with the curse of Malachi 3:8-10. They link any evil or calamity that befalls a person with non-payment of the tithe or unfaithfulness in the paying of the tithe. People have been made to believe that sickness, loss of job, barrenness or any suffering that man may experience is as a result of failure to pay the tithe. Also, men are made to believe that it is by paying tithe that blessings are received from God. In a similar way, the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus’ day laid a load of religious responsibilities on the Jews (Matthew 23:4). The only scripture passage, it seems, that some pastors and churches know today, is “bring all the tithes into the storehouse.”

The apostle Peter warned us about false teachers who “in their greed will exploit you with false words” (II Peter 2:3). Paul did not put us in darkness concerning those who “serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting” (Romans 16:18). Jesus offers rest to those who will come to him by learning from him and taking his yoke upon them. His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). He assures us, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” (John 8:32). The truth frees from all kinds of bondage.

Does God require tithing from His children today? Does anyone have biblical authority to take a tithe from people today? We find answers to these questions as we turn to the Bible to learn what the Bible says about tithe.
The Origin of the Tithe

The first mention of tithing in the Bible was when Abraham, on his return from rescuing his nephew Lot, gave a tenth of the spoils to Melchizedek (Genesis 14:20). He did this voluntarily, not as a requirement from God. Next, we read of Jacob who vowed to give a tenth of all his blessings to God (Genesis 28:20-22).There is no recorded demand of God upon either man for a tenth.

When the children of Israel became a nation and God made a covenant with them on Mount Sinai (Deuteronomy 5:1-5), God demanded a tenth of all the produce of the land of Canaan from them. In Leviticus 27:30 we read, “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD.” This was the first time that God ever demanded a tenth of men.

Let us now study details of this tithing under the Law of Moses.

Tithing Under the Old Testament

There is more than one tithe under the Old Testament. There is the general tithe of the whole produce of the Land that was to be given to the Levites every year (Numbers 18:20-24). The Levites in turn were to give a tithe of this to the priests (Numbers 18:25-28). There is another tithe which is to be consumed in a feast involving the giver, his household and the Levites (Deuteronomy 14:22-27; 12:5-18). Please read these passages carefully, and observe that the tithe mentioned in Numbers 18:20-24 was to be received by the Levites, who had to give a tenth of it to the priests (Numbers 18:25-28). This is the first tithe.

The tithe mentioned in Deuteronomy 14:22-27 is to be eaten by the giver and his household with the Levites. This is the second tithe. The third is the one at the end of three years (Deuteronomy 14:28-29), usually called the poor tithe. In this third year, all the tithes of all the produce of the land, was to be stored in all the cities. This was not taken to Jerusalem but eaten by the Levites and the poor. Please carefully read Deuteronomy 14:28-29; 26:13-15.

Apart from this third year tithe, which was a form of the second yearly tithe, all the tithes must be taken to Jerusalem. They were forbidden to offer their tithes in any place other than the place God should choose to place his name (Deuteronomy 12:5-14). Where did God choose to place His name? God finally chose the temple at Jerusalem as the place to place his name (II Chronicles 6:5-6; 7:12). Therefore, the tithe must be, and was, taken to Jerusalem. Those far away were to sell the goods meant for the festival tithe, take the money to Jerusalem and on getting there, buy whatever they desired with the money and consume their tithes there (Deuteronomy 14:22-27; 12:17-18). This accounts for the money changers we read about in John 2:14.

A store house was prepared in the temple for keeping the tithes brought for the Levites. During Hezekiah’s reform, “He ordered the people living in Jerusalem to give the portion due the priests and Levites so they could devote themselves to the law of the Lord … The men of Israel and Judah who lived in the towns of Judah also brought a tithe of their herds and flocks and a tithe of the holy things dedicated to the Lord their God” (II Chronicles 31:4-12). You will observe here that those who lived in their towns did not pay their tithes in their respective dwelling places but brought it to Jerusalem.

Therefore, the tithe we read about in the Bible is not what you can pay wherever you may find yourself. It must be taken to Jerusalem.
What About Malachi 3:8-10?

An understanding of this passage of the Bible will liberate many people whom false teachers have brought under the yoke of slavery. A careful study of the book of Malachi makes it clear that Malachi 3:8-10 is not addressed to Christians, but the children of Israel.

God made a covenant with the children of Israel on Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 5:2-5). In the law of this covenant, it was determined that the tenth of all the produce of the land of Canaan is the Lord’s (Leviticus 27: 30).

The Lord promised some covenant blessings if they obeyed and kept all the ordinances, and He threatened some covenant curses should they disobey (Read Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26). They disobeyed the Lord, thus breaking the covenant.

Therefore, He brought the covenant curses upon them. He had threatened, “I will scatter you among the nations and draw out a sword after you; your land shall be desolate and your cities waste” (Leviticus 26:33-34). After He had sent warnings to them by His messengers, but they refused to return to Him, He fulfilled this threat by sending them into seventy years captivity in Babylon (II Chronicles 36:15-21; cf. II Chronicles 36:17-21 with Leviticus 26:33-34).

About 100 years after they had returned from captivity, their zeal for serving the Lord had died out, even though they had been cured of idolatry. Malachi was written to rebuke them for their superficial worship services. It begins, “The oracle of the word of the Lord to Israel through Malachi” (Malachi 1:1). Chapter 2 shows clearly that the message of the book was to the nation of Israel as a whole, “Judah has dealt treacherously. And an abomination has been committed in Israel and Jerusalem” (Malachi 2:11).

In chapter one He charged the priests with despising His name by offering defiled food on his altar and by sacrificing blemished animals to Him (Malachi 1:6-14; cf. Leviticus 22:18-25). In Malachi 2:1-9, He threatened a curse against the priests because they had breached the covenant and perverted their office. In Malachi 2:10-16, He rebuked the nation for licentious divorce and intermarriage with the heathen. He charged the nation with apostasy. They had departed from keeping His ordinances. He urged them to return to him, and they asked him, “In what way shall we return?” (Malachi 3:7). He then, pointed at their failure to offer their tithe as an example of their departure from His ordinances (Malachi 3:cool. In this way, they had robbed God by withholding tithes and offerings which, by Mosaic Law, belonged to Him (Malachi 3:7-12; Leviticus 27:30, 34). Because of this He had brought the covenant curse of “hard times” upon them (Malachi 3:7-9; Deuteronomy 28:38-42). He challenged them to prove His goodness by generously giving to Him (Malachi 3:10-12). If they repented and fulfilled their own part of the covenant by offering their tithe, He would reverse the covenant curse and fulfill the promised covenant blessings (Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28).

Do not be deceived any longer, by a host of religious leaders out there who pervert this passage for their own selfish advantage.

What the New Testament Says About the Tithe
In the New Testament, reference to tithe is found once in Matthew (Matthew 23:23), twice in Luke (Luke 11:42; 18:12), and six times in Hebrews (Hebrews 7:4-9).The paying of tithes by the scribes and Pharisees mentioned by Jesus in Matthew and Luke was under the law, for the Old Testament was still in force until the death of Christ on the cross (Galatians 4:4). The New Testament took effect after the death of Christ (Hebrews 9:15-17).

A careful study of Hebrews 7 will make it clear to any sincere person that no one has the right to take tithe from people today. The Law of Moses gave the Levites the authority to take tithes from the people; ”And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren" (Hebrews 7:5). God had separated the Levites for service in the sanctuary (Deuteronomy 10:8-9). They were not to, and did not, have inheritance among the children of Israel; the Lord was their inheritance (Deuteronomy 18:1-2). God gave to them all the tithes in Israel, which by the law was his own (Numbers 18:21-24). This was later referred to as “the portions specified by the law for the priests and Levites” (Nehemiah 12:44; read Nehemiah 10:35-39; 13:10-12).

According to Hebrews 7:11-18, the priesthood has been changed, likewise the law which instituted it. Understand that the Levites did not collect tithes from their brethren until the law authorized them to do so. Now that the law which instituted the Levitical priesthood is annulled, no Levite has the right to take tithes from Israel anymore. If the Levites do not have this right now, then, where do those who collect tithes today derive their authority for doing so?

Giving in the New Testament
Most religious leaders today, who take a tithe, separate it from offering. They claim the tithe is for the pastor while the offering is for other uses in the church. There is no such thing in the New Testament. There is only one collection in the New Testament. This is done on the first day of the week, when Christians gather together, “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also; On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing it up as he may prosper” (I Corinthians 16:1-2). This collection is the only source for the church treasury in the New Testament, and from it, God has commanded that the church should take care of His ministers (I Corinthians 9:7-14). But for greed, the pastors, so called, should not impose a tithe on people for their sustenance.

No proportion is stipulated in the New Testament. Each one is to give as he purposes in his heart, in accordance with how God has prospered him. “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver” (II Corinthians 9:6-7). Every giver determines the proportion of his income that he will give to God. However, Every Christian should give liberally. “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (II Corinthians 9:6-9).

Conclusion
The Old Covenant made with Israel which required paying a tithe has been abrogated. God prophesied that He would make a new covenant with them (Jeremiah 31:31-34). Christ fulfilled the law and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross (Galatians 4:4-5; Colossians 2:14). Christ is the mediator of the New Covenant, which is a better covenant with better promises (Hebrews 8:6-13; cf. Malachi 3:10-11 with II Corinthians 9:6-cool. Christians have been delivered from the law of the Old Testament (Romans 7:4-7; Galatians 3:24-26; 4:4-5, 9). To seek justification in worshiping God by the law is to insult the Spirit of grace, and thus be severed from Christ (Galatians 5:1-3; Hebrews 10:29).

Christ has set us free from the yoke of the law. God has given His children freedom to decide what they will give to him, as He has said nothing about Christians paying a tithe in the New Testament, but says, ”Each one should give as he has purposes in his heart.” If He wants us to pay tithe today, He would have given the order through one of His apostles, just as He did through Moses in the Old Testament and He did through Paul, concerning collection for the saints, in the New Testament. Anyone tithing today despises the death of Christ on the cross “to redeem those who were under the law” (Galatians 4:4, 5; Hebrews 9:15-17). Anyone who collects tithes today does so without biblical authority and so disrespects the authority of Christ.

Jesus frees us from the bondage of sin and Satan, from the yoke of bondage of the law, and from the yoke of religious bondage. Accept the freedom which is in Christ today, and you will find rest for your soul. To enjoy this freedom, simply come to Jesus by: believing in Him as the Son of God (Acts 10:43; Mark 16:16), repenting of your sins (Acts 17:30-31), confessing the Lord Jesus (Romans 10:9-10), and being baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of yours sins (Acts 2:38, 41). And the Lord will add you to His church (Acts 2:47).

@OP, Kindly give me a Bible chapter and verse that supports your write up. Galatians 6 vs 7 says, do not be deceived, God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he will reap.
Please, i need answers to this questions, since you have been called to start up a 'church'.

1. How many Church do we have in the Bible?

2. Why do we have many Churches today that are teaching different things of different origin and all claiming they are from God?

3. Is God an author of confusion?

4. Was Christ divided?

5. Does it mean God is Silent about ways we should worship Him?

6. If Christ prayed for Unity in John 17vs11, 21, How then can God instruct you to start up a church?

These questions needs answers, and i will be glad to get the answers in line with the Bible. Thank you even as i look forward to your response Sir.
