My brother, I left Imo state few days back, THERE IS POVERTY IN THE LAND

I don't know what could be causing it, but I found out most people in areas I visited are suffering more now than before. Many of the youths in rural areas are now moving towards yahoo. Funny enough, they don't even know how it operates.

The roads are terrible in all the local governments along Umuahia road. Seems Emekuku has the worst of bad roads. The road leading from Eke Emekuku down to Orji (I believe) is one of the worst roads I ever travelled... All the way to Deffany homes and beyond

Mehn, "Local man cannot can"... The markets are filled with dirts and filth, no drainage system AT ALL. Majority of the local governments in Mbaise don't have light not to talk of network. Our people are suffering

Please, note that I didn't enter Orlu, Okigwe or Owerri town, so the story might be different in these areas

Liar, how's your own state and local government?

@ ABIASTATE hope you noticed the roads around this shopping plaza is good ? before you post old pictures of etche road

But the earlier planners of Aba left that place as a garden, Ikpeazu should have planted trees and flowers there instead of building plaza.

Culture / Re: Ekpeye And Ogba Ethnic Groups Are From Igbo Hinterland by B2mario(m): 3:29pm On Aug 07, 2020
Abagworo:
I read recently a debate about Ikwerre ethnic group originating from Benin and in that process someone mentioned Ekpeye and Ogba as being brothers with Ikwerre even though that was a recent hypothesis based on the tradition of origin of Ekpeye and Ogba which stated that Akalaka their common ancestor had a third son whose whereabouts was unknown. Some Ikwerre 3rd columnists therefore tried to claim Ihuruoha as that lost son in order to justify a recently conceived story of Benin origin.

Back to the topic of the day here is history of Ekpeye as written by Usama Ekpeye the Ekpeye cultural organization and my use of same to prove Crossriver Igbo ancestry.

EKPEYE IS NOT IGBO.

There is no need for too much debate as I refer you all to www.usama-ekpeye.org for a very short history of Ekpeye people.

Ekpeye and Ogba are brothers and have their origins from Benin.

Unless someone can proof this historical origin of the Ancestors of Francis Ellah and Chibudom Nwuche to be wrong, or proof that the Oba of Benin or his Ancestors are Igbos, then please let it be clear to all that Ekpeye and Ogba people are not Igbos.

Ekpeye has it's distinct dialect that cannot be mistaken for any variant of the Igbo language. For example, God in Igbo is Chineke but in Ekpeye it is Ebilikpabi.

Some Ekpeye people may understand and speak Igbo or even bear some Igbo names, but that is mainly because a lot of Igbo people lived in Ahoada/Ekpeyeland and still do till this day. For example, half of my father's compound in Ahoada town was occupied by Igbo tenants and thus the interaction was intense and so was the culture mix; but that does not mean that Ahoada people are Igbos.

Furthermore, as Emeka Okala already stated, during the Eastern Region era, the Igbo language was taught at schools and at Sunday schools to the extent that in the main church in Ahoada - St. Paul's Church Ahoada (now Cathedral), sermons were usually interpreted in Igbo and beside the English Hymns Ancient and Modern, we also had the Igbo prayer and song book - 'Ekpere Na Abu' .

Also, although some Ekpeye names may sound like Igbo names, they do not always have the same meaning. For example, my family name Echikwa to an Igbo man means 'Tomorrow too' but in Ekpeye, its meaning is 'Do not pursue'.

However, the Ekpeye people are always very welcoming and will welcome our Igbo friends at anytime.

While we discuss Ekpeye people, let me also use this opportunity to extend our warm invitation to all to attend USAMA EKPEYE's 8th Annual Convention and fund raising gala night taking place at Jackson, Tennessee

Ekpeye was the first of the three sons of Akalaka who migrated from Benin Kingdom in the 15th Century. He was born in Benin (Edo) and married a Benin girl called Iyavaeme. He lived permanently at their last settlement (Olube) now called Ula-Ubie.

At Ulobe, his wife bore him four male children namely Ubie, Akoh, Okobo and Upata. As the first son of a great general, Ubie was brought up also as a warrior, a brave hunter, a notorious herbalist, a farmer, a trader, a juju priest and all other attributes of a great man. He was the Nye-so-eja-eleof Ulobe and the chief priest of his father, Akalaka shrine Ogbolo now Ogbolo-Imaji brought from Benin.

1 The name Ekpeye is also Ekpafia or Ekpa afia which translates to bush bag. The Igbos further in call them "Akpa ofia" or "Akpa Ohia".

2 The name Ogba is extremely common in Crossriver Igbo and it means hunter. The name Akalaka is a common title in Crossriver Igbo and means destiny. By Crossriver Igbo I mean Igbos living by the bank of Crossriver in Abia and Ebonyi States. Example include Afikpo, Arochukwu, Abiriba, Abam and Ohafia.

3 In a bid to proclaim a difference with Igbo the author tried to claim Igbos called God Chineke whereas Ekpeye called God Ebilikpabi but that's a wrong claim. Igbos originally called God Orisa, Olisa, Olise, Orise and also shortened it to Osa or Ose at times which makes the original Igbo name for God identical to Bini but Ekpeye originating from Crossriver made use of the God there known as Chukwu or Ubiniukpabi. Chineke was adopted by Christians and used across Igboland including Ekpeye. The origin of the God Chineke is Oboama/Umunama Mbaise. Common names used for God in Igbo which people also bear as surname are Orisa, Chineke, Ukpabi, Obasi, Igwe, Amadi and Chukwu. Ukpabi, Obasi and Chukwu originate from Crossriver Igbo whereas Igwekala and Amadioha were established by Crossriver Igbos at Ozuzu Etche and Umunoha Mbaitoli.

The aim of this thread is to enlighten people on clarify some controversy in recent miseducation of new generation

See a city situated in the rain-forest belt looking like a city on the fringes of the Sahara! Hardly a tree or lawn in sight, and the unmarked streets look so unkempt, dusty and rowdy!

Politics / Re: 2023: Why The North Wants Amaechi To Replace Buhari by B2mario(m): 4:18pm On Aug 02, 2020
IkwerrePikin:
The truth is you need the North votes just like you need the South votes to become President. But it may surprise you that the northern cabals do not trust Yoruba (Tinubu, Amotekun) and Igbo (Biafra agitation) with the presidency in today Nigeria.

The North have realized that, the Niger deltans are the best people to form political alliances with as they are the bedrock of the country’s resources, and can be more trusted as seen with the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

For the South West: The northern cabals have been fighting tinubu secretly and may bring up his corrupt cases by next year to destroy his presidential ambition.

For the South East: The northern cabals have brought up corrupt cases of top politicians destroying their image, and also claim they have not built bridges across the country to produce president as Nigeria is not turn by turn limited.

For the South South: The northern cabals have settled the avengers in this region, they have also created good relationship with Goodluck Jonathan former President, they have also engage the traditional rulers over their threats and also freed top warlords like Tompolo and others all for peace between the North and Niger delta.

Why the North Wants Rotimi Amaechi

- In the South, Amaechi is more loved by Buhari, El Rufai and top northern cabals, he is also from the Niger delta region which the North trust more than the South West (Tinubu/Amotekun) and South East (Biafra agitation) with power today.

- With Amaechi as the preferred candidate for the Northern cabals who will deliver the North for him in a presidential election, he will also win majority votes in the South South his home region and South East where people see him as Igbo which Amaechi has also stated even though his Ikwerre people have a different view.

- Some may argue that the past President Goodluck Jonathan is from same region with Amaechi, but the truth is, Even Yaradua from same Kastina with Buhari did not prevent Buhari from becoming the President.

Honestly, Nigerians need a young blood in the person of Rotimi Amaechi who has great leadership records till date.

Brother just go and sleep, you use rest.

I dont know how you did your analysis, but i did mine without bias, and the Igbos had more companies.

Bros, stop disturbing yourself over this issue. Even the op of this thread knows the truth. Despite the fact that Nigerian government favours the Yorubas, igbos still struggle and make their ways and are still the best in everything.

Yorubas can not bear half of what Igbos have suffered in Nigeria. Whatever they are showing here is still a child compared to Igbo achievement.

All this useless arguments arise because of the gradual death of history in our schools since the end of the war. Sorry, but when a son tries to run away from his father and siblings there must be some sinister reasons. It is the father and relations that must do their best to trace their lost children.
In daily life realities, I have known that outsiders, psychophants do everything within their reach to convert people's children; especially those searching for fruits of the womb and those who failed to raise theirs, but for rats to eat your fish means you were absent or asleep. A true son will hearken to the voice of his father; but some children, the prodigal, may not care. Of a truth, even Benin is Igbo and many Igbos are trapped against their wishes in Benin enclave even today (Igbo-akiri or Igbanke). The Benis need people and they love the Igbo stock and gene. Only them know why they want to obtain igboness by tricks.

And they also love to marry our women. There's truth in what you said here though I'm not your fan because atimes you talk trash.

"He died in 1462. Iwhnurọhna his third son settled east of the Sombrero River by 1538 AD"
He iwhnurohna and his son "settled" east of Sombrero river. He settled amongst the Igbo aborigines based there and learnt igbo language +culture, even took native igbo names till today.

Meaning that they met Aboriginal Igbos there and they are living on Igbo land. There are many ikwerre that affirm their Igbo origin and identity, they call this bini origin of a thing trash.

The Igbo area of Rivers state is not only occupied by the ikwerre people. There are also Ndoki, Asa, Egbema, Ndoni, Ogba, Ekpeye, Etche and Omuma.

He he he.
The Commissioner of Works you are proposing to build dual carriage ways in Orlu and Okigwe is the same Commissioner who was designing flyovers in Owerri under Ohakim government when no urban roads were built or reconstructed in either Okigwe or Orlu.
What judgement on earth made this Commissioner showcase the urban roads he reconstructed in Owerri so far, but leaves the roads to his state’s university teaching hospital and International Market in Orlu like this?
Even the dualized roads of Okorocha in Orlu are hardly motorable now.

This your complain has gone out of hands. If it's not politically motivated you should know the right channel to do it. Besides, you are not one of us and stop using Orlu for your agenda.
