gsalvatore: Igbos are totally disconnected with the/any Arm of Nigerian Government(maybe its Civil war trauma), most development you see in the east are done by Individuals/private sectors- Big Markets, Few Industries etc,

Nobody give a damn about any thing government, Most people prefer private or mssionary schools to government schools, private hospital to government hospitals, even the shops for businesses are individually owned, some citizens contribute money to tidy up their roads, contribute money to buy transformers before the get light in there areas, what am saying is that the governors and ex-governors are not helping matters, they lack vision to push them into 21st century, all they know is LOOT! LOOT! LOOT!

Check out Abia State governor, Go to Aba(a city in the state), no Standard road, 100 percent of the drainage system are messed up, the Ariaria market that is the main market in Aba is nothing to write home about(you dont wanna go there during rainy season). Infact Aba stopped developing since 1994.

Ebonyi state nko? lets not go there, the governor is senile and incapable of thinking, he just doesn't know the Job .

Imo State, Rochas is a majician, Imolites living in the state a blinded or brainwashed, they love the man even when he is giving them shit and telling them its cake, his roads are just breaking up like bread, No single foreign Investor has opened a shop in Imo state(i stand to be corrected) and he is the man that is supposed to take Imo state to haven. thats why you see Imo graduates jobless, walking along the streets of Ikenegbu like drifters. either you see HOTEL/EATRY, or KEKE NAPEP or Fuelling station, NO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

Anambra state, hahahahah, the Governor is just a lucky and clever man, i think he wants to help but....i just dont know sha, Anambra is supposed to be the state with the highest number of RICH INDIVIDUALS but a trip to the capital city Awka or Onitsha will just disappoint you, poor sanitary standard, all they do is worship money,'' ego ole ka iji?'' but money is not wealth, i mean Anambra state can do a lot better if they put their head and mind to it with less pride/arrogance.

Enugu state is trying, the govenor need to improve, raise standards of infrastructure, i think its the quality of infrastructures in the major cities of the world that makes them stand out just like Tokyo, Osaka, KUALA LUMPUR,London etc. infact when we get that mindset of erecting world class infrastructures only then will we be recognised.

I think there problem is there leaders, they all are myopic and lack imagination which is very bad and come to think they do travel abroad and see all the good stuffs out there and still come back to give us all this substandard stuffs is very appalling.

NB: this is my opinion, am not an opposition and am not PDP or whatever , am igbo.
Respect.

The summary of your post is "Industrious people, bad leaders".

It makes sense to me.

lygn19: LoL...2moro some jobless ppl wud be saying no region has right to lay claim to the resources that re found offshore...
That any region that agitates for resource control should know that its resources ends d place its bounday stops, so if akwa ibom does sth like this and covers up most of the oil wells around its waters, wud they belong to the FG or the state if we employ onshore/offshore dichotomy.
Oga, worry about what your Governor is doing.

ITbomb: 2 ft above sea level is really a bad idea
Who told you its 2ft above the sea?? Have you even seen the project??

Do you think they would be that daft to build a 2ft rock wall to stop ocean waves when the normal average wave height exceeds that height.

And who's that ignorant person that liked your post?? I'm sure its @lygn19.

asha 80: media has a way of confusing you guys.
All those projects i mentioned are being executed with the aim of preparing the various states for the future.

Your Governors played a fast one on you guys by re-surfacing roads, building Government buildings and giving out cars while you were busy criticizing those projects.

Thank God for FG initiative to provide an international Airport in the S.E. The 2nd Niger Bridge is still in limbo. Apart from those 2 projects i mentioned, please educate me on any capital project with the aim of preparing the S.E for the future, initiated by your Governors.

Rochas that seemed to be a bright star is now being crucified for fratenizing with Northerners and S westerners.......despite his works.

Rather than come up with projects and long-term plans to woo the people's votes, they'd rather talk about not voting for a "boko Haram party" or "how the Yorubas hate the Igbos"..............and you fall for that. Sad.

It seems if i want to win an eastern election, all i have to do is publicly deny and insult my tribe, the crowd will cheer and I'll win.

Meanwhile, keep decieving yourselves that you own "60 percent" of those projects.

revolt: I couldn't hve said it better. we need more time to break that northern Yoruba hegemony, they'll slowly phase out and we can't have another aboki usurping this glorious paradigm shift.
meritocracy must prevail. why are they scared of this progressive phenomenon.
See these ones here talking about breaking one Northern/Yoruba hegemony.

Have you seen the projects going on in Eko Atlantic?? The elevated railway?? The expanded Badagry Express?? The infrastructural works in Ogun and, Osun State?? Even Oyo state isn't left behind. Projects going on in Kano and Abuja?? The Rainbow Town in Port-Harcourt?? The roads, Airport and Stadium Akpabio is building in Akwa-Ibom??

You guys better wake up and hold your regional leaders accountable and stop chasing tails.

Before you realize it, Nigeria would have left the S.E behind while you're waiting on the FG to deliver the 2nd Niger Bridge. The joke's still on you guys......

Trail ii: Yoruba land kips developing. Wow!!!! Kudos to every1 involve in dis project. Pls can any1 upload development pics in alaigbo. Massive development in lagos/ogun in SW, abuja/kano in north, porthacort/akwa ibom in south south. But none in south east.
They've just gotten their first international Airport(FG) and they have some of the largest markets in Africa(The efforts of the Igbo citizens).

I'm not aware of any major project initiated by their Governors but someone could educate me.

So much ado over a bridge.

If Lagos State can effect the building of a new city by patnering with private investors, what stops the Eastern Governors from doing the same, tolling the resulting bridge and it will be a source of income generator for its life-span.

Honestly, quality leadership is lacking in that direction. They would rather perform less brain tasking works like sharing out cars and building secretariat buildings.

Abagworo: More like a disaster in the waiting. I'm not a fan of land reclamation especially by the sea which makes it vulnerable to disaster.
The future belongs to those that dream. Pessimism and fear will only make you inactive, rather that pro-active.

If you were in charge of Lagos State, the whole V.I would have been washed away by now.

Sincere 9gerian: If we agree that privatisation of PHCN is the first and most important step towards having a sustainable stable power supply in the country, hasn't that privatisation been done? If you dont agree with privatisation, kindly proffer your solution to decades of epileptic power supply in Nigeria.

Here in Enugu (in most places), there has been stable power supply in the last 2 weeks or so. In fact, where I stay, power has only gone off for about 10 minutes in the last 36 hours or so ( since Friday night). I think (I'm not sure), the problem in Lagos is that the generation allocated to the state is insufficient. While in the past it was possible to divert power allocations from some states to serve Lagos and Abuja (and I think this was more rampant in the days of Barth Nnaji), now its a bit difficult because any of the private distribution companies that gets lesser than the agreed allocation will immediately cry out. The Kano distribution company did that recently and NERC immediately moved in to rectify it. Since the distribution companies are now privately owed, the profit they make is determined by the power they can sell and this is in turn is determined by the power allocated to them by the transmission company of Nigeria.

So bottomline, I think the problem in Lagos will ease as the generation capacity increases. Moreover, the dividends of the privatisation process can only start manifesting in 6 months to 1 year time. The new owners are still battling to make the best out of what they bought.
Some of G.E.J's efforts might have positive benefits in the long run but he's messing up big time by letting his minions run amok.

His weak stand against the foundational problems of this country will stain the rail and power sector he's fixing if he doesn't act fast to win the confidence of the people..........of which, his silence isn't helping matters.

I read about GEJ's achievements but to be honest..........The change he has being a catalyst in my current situation is the fuel increase.

I also plan on buying another "Tokunbo" vehicle soon but that might change due to the fact that they'll soon become super expensive.

Light situation is worse in my area, I saw renovation works at the airport but what percentage of Nigerians can afford air travel?

Trains have started transporting goods which is good but all these corrupt individuals he surrounds himself, oil theft, insecurity, different frauds exposed but he remains silent, the ethnic Politics he plays (The Igbos are my pillars), The Governors forum mess, the Port Harcourt drama, pardoning questionable characters etc leaves a bad taste compared to his achievements.

Now, the whole country is waiting for GEJ to adress them on the contents of OBJ's letter but he remains silent again. If he was truely concerned about the people, he should have adressed the Nation with immediate effect.

Everybody is saying the same thing about him and his weak stance against corruption, even George Bush (He's not an APC member).

This is not the kind of "Change" we should still be grappling with in year 2013. Nations are leaving us behind daily.

They are going to b wiped off and the remaining Ijaws will b orphans who won't know anything about their history. Their region is already backward, so there's nothing to destroy there , the NA will send them back to prehistory.
Very true, even most of these Boko Haram fighters aren't Northerners. They're from outside the country and you'll be amazed at the peanuts they were offered to cause havoc.

It will require wisdom to negotiate a favourable deal in resource control for the SS and not show of force.

@atlwireless. Oga free the Ijaw, they say they're not fighting, what's tickling your balls with that??

Or if they start fighting, will you stick out your neck for them?? The same mistake made with Biafra will only be repeated, people will apologize and life will move on leaving the Niger Delta behind in development.

Its only people that haven't experienced wars that clamour for it #Word of wisdom#.

Have you heard of napalm bombings, cluster bombs and the use of satelite imagery to track thermal activities?? Nigeria will simply appeal to a western Nation with interest in the oil to provide satelite data in exchange for stakes in the region.

Either way, the war will be fought on Ijaw soil which is bad enough for them.

A truely wise person will consider the odds before embarking on somthing like this.

kettykin: The igbos fought a blind and unplanned war of secession against Soviet Union, British Empire and Arab world back Nigerian Army and yet inflicted a serious set back on the Nigerian army that gives them Night mare when ever they hear of Biafra.

Going forward the Ijaws will not fight a blind war of secession , ijaws are smarter than that , they will cut of the link to Nigeria's economy first before finishing Nigeria through insurgencies and guerrillas tactics.
Nigeria strength lies in the forming of alliances with neighbouring nations and super powers and using blockades which Boko Haram did not give them opportunity to use , the last outing of the Ijaws saw a very quick strike force that could get to anywhere near the coast like the Atlas Cove and Bakassi in lightning precision ,hitting their Targets , delivering massive devastations and leaving with out detection unlike the Nigerian forces that can not hit with precision and always in the process slaughter the innocent and incurre outrage of human right community.

Anybody who knows the effect of bombing third mainland bridge ,the numerous power plants in the Niger delta , airports refineries , Fuel depots ,sea ports , ships , stadiums and telecommunication infrastructure will not pray that the militants are ever provoked as long as Nigeria exists as an independent , united nation.

Ijaw/Niger Delta militants are about the only group invicible enough to perpetrate these kind of attacks and still be uncaught, if you doubt me ask Boko Haram .
This one will just be yarning dust while feeling intelligent.

The mistake people make is to keep counting state populations as if everyone there is going to vote for one party.lagos is the most cosmopolitan state in Nigeria and has far more non-indigenes than any other state.

I can bet you that GEj would not get anything less than 45% of the votes cast in lagos in 2015.

The rest of Nigeria will watch the war on TV in their various regions.

The fight will definitely be on their homefront and the innocent living there will be made refugees, win or lose.

That's before you factor in the distruction of the little development they've been able to achieve.

kettykin: You have just exposed your lack of depth how can you compare a cable bridge that is designed to carry passenger cars and pedestrian across short distances to a heavy duty arch bridge designed to be a backbone bridge ferrying passengers, passenger cars, articulated vehicles, heavy duty trucks and equipment and heavy railn. The lekki bridge is feather weight bridge compared to Niger bridge and cannot carry 10% of the load on Niger bridge.

This is how APC will forever keep spamming and scamming their followers the lekki cable bridge has little significance to the traffic situation of lagos, if Fashola was man enough and wanted to solve the traffic issues of lagos he would have built a bridge between Epe, ibeju lekki and Ikorodu which would have solved the problem of Ikorodu, third main land problem and VI congestion, who is really trying to fool who.

I strongly disagree. Who needs the bridge the most??

That's right, "The people".

Anambra and Delta (which is a rich state) can team up to fund its construction.

It should be Tolled upon its completion and both states can share the revenue generated.

This way, it will generate revenue for both states till kingdom come.
