Nigeria barely produces adequate MW of electricity to provide Lagos State alone with uninterrupted power let alone, the whole country and @Sincere9gerian is giving us "Tales by Moonlight" to cover up the FG's failures. Tell a person from a developed Country that an average of 3000MW is being produced to service a population of 160 million and check out their reaction. When GEJ knows nothing about the current Monumental Oil theft, why would he know anything about Gas pipelines being sabotaged?? I suspect he just sits in his office and accepts any lie dropped on his table. "We provided 1.6million jobs this year sir" "We're unable to provide light because Tinubu is sabotaging the gas pipelines sir" G.E.J's media team and his followers are the ones that paint him dumb and clueless. |
macjive01: No fellow citizen, PDP is not breaking aprt , it is only weeding out the most corrupt vile creature that has lured within it for far too long.Weeding out the vile elements and leaving behind new age politicians like Nyesome Wike, Jonah Jang, Akpabio, Tony Annenih, Bamanga Tukur, Uduaghan, Bode George With a little side support from Peter Obi and Mimiko.Face it, PDP is fast loosing everybody that stands for anything within it.. |
What was done with the money "saved" from the Subsidy removal?? Now they want to "Save" more money by this policy. Why not manufacture brand new cars alongside imported cars and leave people the choice of choosing brand new cars with value for your money or Tokunbo?? Why are G.E.J's Policies that are supposed to save money end up taking more money out of the average man's pocket?? |
DerideGull: Akpabio is not on the list because he refused to donate serious money to the "Harvard Kennedy School".They've seen right through him. |
................But in the meantime................. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ........Its PDP that is breaking apart. |
asha 80: utomi can overcome the 'MEN' in delta state by leaving lagos and coming to delta today to live and sell his ideas to the electorates by going to the different towns and communities to communicate with them...i do not mean going with praise singers or artistes...people at the grassroots that make up majority of the voters vote for who they know and have seen or identify it...things like a technocrat does not make sense to them because they do not understand it in the first instance. You have very strong points there. Since they won't come to him, he should go to them. |
Iriruaga100: Pat utomi will be a good canditate but the platform he choose cnt win him ward election in delta. He should learn from kayamo's experience that election is nt won frm d media or his base in lagos. He should knw that politics in delta is nt fr boys nd newcomers like him.It will be Delta State's loss if they let this chance to elect a Technocrat like Utomi pass them by. So its Uduaghan and his cronies that are now the "MEN" in your Political perspective?? |
Anambra State lost the chance to have a Governor like the tested and trusted Chukwuma Soludo. Delta State should not make the same mistake. Pat Utomi is a World Class Leader. |
u are a big bafoon for cancelling people's comments when u quote them. Igbo population in Lagos is about 30% and we own about 70% of lagos economy. Where were your fathers when Britons and igbos were building lagos?
Oh........Here's one of those Igbo dudes that pull percentages out of their anu5. |
gratiaeo: All our politicians president, gov, senator, rep etc are thieves and mediocreI agree with you on that one. Believe its propaganda but don't complain when Lagos State continues with its quest to leave Nigeria behind because that's the fact on ground. Its because we elect thieves that have long term plans for the State. The only state growing half as fast is Ogun State and its because they elected a thief that has a vision. |
And if you ask the people criticizing him here to name a better performing Governor..........I wonder the name's they'll call. It reminds me of @Agbameta's thread in which he compared Akpabio and Fashola in terms of achievements. I've always known Fashola was better but i never knew the gap was that much. If you have a better Governor, pls list so that we can compare achievements. It will be fun doing that. |
But yet you apc goons want GEJ to perform miracles,
G.E.J has not being able to convince me that he knows what he's doing. He fixes one thing and wrecks three. The "world record" oil theft, how he avoids tackling corruption, how his party is falling apart under him, how his statements cause division, his silence over pressing issues, the unexplained drastic increase in subsidy payments etc doesn't exactly evoke confidence in him. |
The problems in Lagos State are World Class. Fashola himself has said it that he can't solve it all and his sucessor will continue from where he's stopped. Lagos might need up to 3 sucessive Govts working at his rate(or higher) to finally get it right. 30 decades of rot can't be wished away so soon. I'll cut him some slack because he's opened the eyes of Nigerians to possiblities and everyone can point at his efforts. |
sandijey: The southwest have foresight and are very progressive people. As much as I hate tinubu, his party has done a lot. And am very sure if southwest was under pdp, there would still be progress but on a very small scale. I have always known that ogun state is the next lagos state. From the time people started living at sango, mowe, ibafo etc. And as time goes on, its gonna keep spreading like that to shagamu.100 percent correct. We seriously need a rail system that will aid transportation. There's no major city without a well planned rail system. |
whitecat007: I don't know where in the blue hell you were born, but you have no stake in Lagos if you are not Yoruba. I can see your attempt to slurp on your puke, cos those who will open cans of asswhooping on you are not here yet. You should focus on your state governor. You are squatters in Lagos. It can never be your home. Your obsession with Lagos is not making you hold your home state responsible. Wake up, you always get soaked whenever you out on smear Fashola parade. Get over Lagos.Your opinion is wrong. No city can become truely great if they don't encourage diversity in its population and external investors in it. Do you know how much money the Saudis and Chinese have invested in the USA?? Or how much Germany, USA are currently investing in China?? That's why i pity some Politicians that campaign along the religious/tribal divide and the people that support them. Soon they start to wonder why Dangote ignored investing in their region or why foreign investments isn't pouring into their region like it ought to. To rival the greatest cities in the World, you need more than "Yoruba Money" to achieve that. Miami was build on Cuban/Columbian investments in real-estate..................Even though the money was earned from the drug trade of the 70s and 80s. |
patmaine: ..Those places you've mentioned are equivalent to whole cities in most states in Nigeria, you know. |
eaglechild: You are very ignorant,Lagos State still has some of the largest slums in the Country but you know it was still light-years ahead of Nigeria even 100 years before independence. The whites had the opportunity of settling anywhere along the coast but they chose Lagos. Why?? Because of the accomodating Nature of the King back then and the people. FG had to jump on board to save themselves time and effort. That Ibadan you love to call a slum is more developed that the southern cities you're proud of except Port-Harcourt. Yes.......Go pull out those out-dated pics again. You speak as if the S.E is a collection of mansions when I'm still in shock with some pics I've seen of it............I'll post just one.......I'll spare you the embarrasment of the rest. If you call Ibadan a slum, I wonder what you'll call this............
|
deletrue: Lie, unless you are talking of trimming of flowers and painting of block fences along major roads onlyI have officially singled out your Moniker as one of the daftest posters on Nairaland with this post of yours..........whoever liked your post will also be added if he reveals his identity........I suspect its @Eaglechild. |
Ogun state is in the best position to absorb the population/development over flow of Lagos. Nice foresight. We need more Governors that have long term plans for their States, not "We will build new Secretariat" kind of plans. |
victorazy: Based on the security situation I don't think is advisable to build something like this or else someone will just break ur glass, enter ur house. Secondly, our weather may not help unless u use alukbond for the body finishing.Haven homes in Nigeria have residential Buildings that look similar to this designs so i guess if you build it the right areas, you're safe. Alucobond is preferable on Corporate buildings. It doesn't really go well with residential buildings. |
Uyi Iredia: My Dad made money from that spare part market , so it is very useful. And Brazilian building still dey name. I been stroll around Moline side during Experience dey see dem.I never had problems with the Markets too. I had Igbo friends back then that sold spare-parts and they were nice peeps too. You know we over-do things in Nigeria if there's no form of regulaation so it was the over-crowding that followed that was the bane of those markets. You're so right about the unplanned nature of Idumota. |
shymexx: Definitely not. I admire the Brazilian influence in that part of Lagos. Saw some of the colonial houses there and some of the streets have Brazilian names. Interesting, I must say. My pops was born and raised on the Island as well.Cool. I've refurbished one before and it was a wonderful experience. All you need do is change the roofing, windows and doors. Tile the floors, partition walls, fittings and finishings, paint and you have a home that can withstand a 100 years or even more. @op. Those collapsed houses you speak of wear built during the Millitary regimes in the 80s and 90s. They are highly sub-standard and fully occupied. If Fashola decides to chase people out of them for demolition, people will still complain that he's robbing them of their homes..........and mind you, there are thousands of them in Lagos. My proposal on housing even involves locating those types of buildings, evacuating them, demolishing and rebuilding them with the land owners retaining stakes in the new building to be constructed..............................Convincing the Land Owners is now the main problem. |
Uyi Iredia: You will never realize the value of the complaint till you lose it. Complaint is like itches or pain; they tell you something is wrong and in an institution like governance it is important to know HOW to work with it. A pity you DID NOT see solutions I offered. You DID NOT even see how I acknowledged what he has done.Alright, I guess i was too in a hurry to drive my point across i didn't digest yours. I've also being affected by the negative aspects of Fashola's Government and I've witnessed demolitions that almost moved me to tears. There can never be a perfect Government, PDP, APC etc.......there will always be short-commings. The Nigerian (Human) factor is always lurking around the corner to downplay any policy which means we, the citizens have our part to play. I'll just keep coming up with percieved solutions till one is accepted............and i hope it will aid me in making the World a better place. |
shymexx: Darn!! Never knew that - salute! At ease Soldier. Its actually overrated. I'm still stuck with the trauma of Lagos Island turning from a residential area filled with Brazillian styled bungalows to a full scale ghetto spare-part market. |
Uyi Iredia: Are you from Lagos ? And why I have every right to be concerned as one born and bred in Lagos. I am concerned about my state, and by extension the country, but the part of Lagos I stay is my home in every meaningful sense of the term. Get used to that.Yes I'm from Lagos Island. I witnessed what the past Millitary regimes did to lagos and i know Fashola is the first Governor in decades to effect change that wasn't possible even by past Millitary Administrators. He's not perfect but compared to the clowns we have running majority of the other states in the Country, he's a visionary. I just prepared a proposal for "affordable housing " and "Planned Market Streets" i plan on presenting to a Government ear on Monday (Wish me luck). I'm trying to represent the change i want to see rather than complaining on NL when i have no solution to offer. |
Uchiha Madara: There you go again, pointing the villager finger to everybody, damn son, you must have a thing for villagers.I've lived in Lagos all my life. I witnessed the decays of the 80s and 90s and for once someone comes along to do something about it...............................Then someone from a less obscure location starts condemning his effort. If that person had being more concerned about his home zone, he won't be in Lagos complaining. BTW, both John Smith and Pocahontas died and didn't live full lives but i love that song in the cartoon. |
Compared to other Governors, Fashola isn't perfect but he is light years ahead. I just wish those complaining about his Government would be more concerned about their states of origin than lagos state. Soon, they'll come back to complain that Lagos is experiencing unfair development at the detriment of other States. Eg.......@Uyi Uredia should probably be more concerned about Edo State. |
Uchiha Madara: I guess to you and your likes, everyone outside Lagos is a villager, so I guess Lagos too is your own village abi?You took my post personal...............You must be a villager. |
Maybe if Fashola forcefully deports 6million people out of the 19million dwellers in Lagos State, then Governance will be easier for him. Even villagers are having an opinion on this thread. |
(1) I'll have to agree on the Repair of the Benin-Ore expressway( and other expressways minus the Lagos-Ibadan Express)........ Its commendable that it was under G.E.J's administration that these happened. (2) True, there's no fuel scarcity but G.E.J still deserves to be stoned for being responsible for the highest fuel price hike in the history of the nation just to start sharing N10000 to selected youths and repairing some obscure roads.. If he had added fuel scarcity to the equation, he would deserve to be given hot slaps on National TV. (3) I'm an Architect. Trust me, there's no big deal in changing tiles, fixing new lightings, fixing Alucobond panels on exterior walls and repainting an existing building. The Airport refurbishments are minor achievement. Refurbishing the Airport buildings without tackling gross inefficiency in service delivery, exploitation and Safety issues is like putting butter icing on a dry mouldy cake and trying to pass it off as the Recipee of the day. Walking through Refurbished Airports to board planes who's landing wheels fall off at will is not "Uncommon Transformation". I just wonder why past Aviation ministers couldn't do this to gain cheap scores. (4) Truely, Nigeria is undergoing an Agricultural Revolution. Keying into it means you have to invest in Agriculture to benefit from it...................but it hasn't resulted in any positive benefit for the masses YET. Food prices have either increased in price or remained high. (5) This current Administration has being able to trim the wings of Boko-Haram to a positive extent. They no longer operate with impunity like they used to....................But it still annoys me at the initial sluggish response to the early attacks that allowed Boko-Haram grow to the extent they had their own territory and claim a large number of lives before the current reaction of the FG. We all remember how G.E.J used to simply condemn those attacks in the past without lifting a finger afterwards. Well, the battle is still on but i wish the FG and Nigerians Victory over those Demons. (6) Electricity. Kudos to G.E.J for the sucessful privatization of Nepa and completion of some of the power projects........................But light is still not constant. I spent Last night watching Fireworks against the backdrop of Power failure. We aren't seeing the results yet but it will get better. |

With a little side support from Peter Obi and Mimiko.
E don they since I dey watch all those flogging during festivals in Idumota. BTW that Idumota is a perfect case sample of poor urban planning. Wetin make fire reach that side eh ! Nigerians dey lucky, when fire finish oyibo cities like LA, nobody needed to tell them to grow sense and plan well.
