He was only sorry because he got caught.

As I said in another thread, actions like this are easily rationalized until YOU are caught in the crossfire.

Am I allowed to say that we should overlook the N255B car scandal because of Oduah's good works in the aviation industry?
Well, how about the hundreds of Nigerian Politicians whose actions spell the same thing without them saying a word? We know they don't care, what have we done about it??

I was truely angry at Oshiomole's statement but in isolation, when you compare it to his performance as the State Governor, i can give him the benefit of a doubt.

Its the same way I'll cut the defenders of Stella Oduah some slack due to the fact that Enugu Airport gained international status under her watch was enough to turn them into her staunch supporters.
Politics › Much Ado Over Oshiomole's "Go And Die Statement". by ba7man(op): 5:36pm On Nov 30, 2013
It seems there are a group of people that want to overflog this issue of Oshiomole's statement.

Power intoxicates, Power corrupts. Every sane person knows this so those in power have a big responsibilty to maintain their integrity while holding positions of power. Nigeria is full of past examples of Leaders that abused this position.

Most of our past leaders didn't have to utter that same statement Oshiomole did to expose the fact they don't care about the populace they govern.

I was initially angry at the fact that Oshiomole could make such a statement but after his apology, i believe he has admitted his folly and is truely sorry...........but when some people choose to milk the situation to the maximum, it makes them appear "DESPERATE" to paint Oshiomole in a bad light.

Looking at Oshiomole's record in Edo State, his election as Governor marked a new begining in the State. He has shown that he is truely commited to effecting a positive change while dealing with lawlesness at the same time so I'll excuse his slip of tongue and attitude in attending to his responsibilities.

But to people that think the opposition's "alleged" gesture of giving out N250,000 can automatically erase his efforts in Edo-State, I'll conclude that its this kind of "SENTIMENTAL" thought process that holds this Country down.
Bla bla bla bla. Abia and Anambra have the highest concentration of banks after Lagos and Rivers (states that have highly benefited from federal and multinational presence).

Do you see me feeling funky and telling you what to do with yours? No. Anambra and Abia are far from perfect.

Stay in your lane, we stay in ours. Simple!
Conclusion: Your impression of poverty in Osun State is misguided.

I'm sure you read that online from an uninformed person and started echoing it like a lot of people do.

Last time i checked, Ilesha, Ile-Ife and Oshogbo have a concentration of Banks that means money is in circulation.

Ancient?? Yes.........Poverty?? No. Get your facts right.

jmaine: Please what camp did you pitch your political tent. Telling us you are apolitical won't suffice here.

Thanks . . . . .
Oshiomole is carrying out projects all over the state to speed it up to the 21st century, Akpabio is doing same in Akwa-Ibom, Fashola is doing something similar in Lagos, Mimiko is working too.

They all have their negative sides but i can't complain too much about them because they can present a "Long Term" plan for their States with evidence on ground.

But with what PDP did in Edo State through Lucky Igbinedion, it will take far more than N250,000 given to a widow to sway my choice.

"Oh my God!!!! PDP gave the widow Oshiomole insulted N250,000?? I'm rooting for PDP in the next Edo Gov election".........................see how silly it sounds??

BTW, I rep APC but Nigeria's development is bigger than just Party affilliation........Way bigger.

manny4life: Ladies and Gentlemen,

There you have it, Edo PDP has taken glory, this gesture WILL NEVER be forgotten. cool cool

Even the Bible said it, the people rejoice when the rightoues is in power and they gnash their teeth when the wicked like Gov. Oshiomole rules.

Thanks to EDO PDP...You will win the next election.
So all it took to sway you was a widow being given N250,000 for you to decide where you'll pictch your political tent..........I SMH for you and the people that "liked" your post.

I expected it would take something with a far superior cause like a "Brand new party ideology that will drastically move the nation forward" or "A Political candidate with a record of achievements that sweeps up people in the hope of a brighter future".............And we'll now get angry when they say "The blackman has a low IQ".

Have you forgotten what Lucky Igbinedion did so quickly?? Seems some people have memory loss due to their party affiliation.
Politics › Re: PDP Rescues "Go And Die" Widow by ba7man(m): 9:32am On Nov 30, 2013
N250,000 does not make up for the years of looting and neglect of the State under Lucky Igbinedion.

N250,000huh That's so cheap. Why do people play such cheap Politics in Nigeria and some people now want to equate that to all the projects executed by Oshiomole??

I can't believe some people will now go back and vote PDP because they gave a widow N250,000 and ignore all the roads, transport system and efforts by Oshiomole to give the state a new face.

Politicians sure know how to play their populace and it seems it doesn't take much intelligence to do so.

There are people made rich by GEJ's administration that can single-handedly fund this bridge, let alone the FG.

talktimi: Touche...
Other States in Nigeria have their poor represented in those slums in large numbers and you expect Gov Fashola to keep taking care of them as their numbers increase daily on the same allocation??

Isn't the sane reaction to this is to discourage the mass migration before it results in crisis for the State??

Other States aren't doing their job and people keep expecting Lagos to give their emmigrants the lives they couldn't provide.

At a level in Leadership, population becomes statistics. Google on China how their cities got so grand today and the number of poor it affected.

This World has never been fair on the poor, its a "Dog eat Dog" World and as long as you live your life looking for hand-outs and favours from the Government, you'll get trodden upon.

Politics › Re: Lagos Slum's Legal Victory Presents Path To Future For Nigeria's Least Fortunate by ba7man(m): 4:55am On Nov 29, 2013
The slum dwellers can only delay the demolition of their slums but they can't avoid it. #FACT#

There are culprits back stage that allocate these portions of land and water for them to build at a fee and they still continue paying as rent.

Urban renewal is a necessity. As a Governor/Leader, you'll have to make decisions that require intelligence void of sentiment but still try not to lose your human face.

If the slum dwellers are left alone, they'll continue with that life and steadily expand those slums till Christ returns and that shouldn't be permitted.

This is a World class problem and other Countries will be closely watching to see how it's solved eg India and Brazil.

The solution I proposed in my final year project was " Government funded rental/ outright purchase building projects".

I would have shed more light on this but that will take time.

I see APC is giving some people sleepless nights.

The APC Governors are "Anti-people" but they pioneered the re-introduction of State Controlled mass transit to ease the burden of the masses.....That's just one of their "Anti-people" policies.

Let's face it, Most of these other Governors have been too busy sleeping or looting to even bother being "Pro-People" or "Anti-people".

Widen your scopes, its not an APC thing, Most Governors are worse.

A friend of mine that travels round the Country a lot tells me i won't believe what a lot of States in Nigeria looks like...........even with how rugged Lagos can get, it will be heaven to a lot of people.

How's that for "Anti-people"?

They all came from somewhere. The Makoko slums started as a Fishing/ Logging outpost till it turned into a permanent residence to them.

I watched it grow to that size growing up. Its as a result of neglect that let things get that far.

Nightshift: I hope the slum dwellers fight those greedy land thieves , who often see nothing wrong in rendering poor folks homeless through the law courts.
The disheartening fate of former Marokko dwellers in the hands of military dictator Col. Raji Rasaki, is still fresh in the memory of many people in Lagos.
I hope you know those slum dwellers pay rent to certain people.
Politics › Re: Lagos Slum's Legal Victory Presents Path To Future For Nigeria's Least Fortunate by ba7man(m): 8:11pm On Nov 28, 2013
Sooner or Later, those slums will be destroyed.

As the State's Economy grows, value of its landed property will increase till someone will be willing to pay enough cash to demolish those slums and develop the land.

As long as they are within Lagos, they can't last long any more.
Politics › Re: Fresh Confusion, Discombobulation And Commotion Rocks New PDP/APC Merger by ba7man(m): 7:51pm On Nov 28, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: There was nothing GEJ could have done to stop those governors from leaving, except sacrificing his second term ambition.

You know OBJ used Iwuruwuru INEC to make PDP the largest party in Africa. The PDP would have been swept completely off the southeast by APGA in 2003 if not for Iwuruwuru INEC. The same for parts of the north and southwest. But under GEJ, INEC has been doing far cleaner elections and the side effect of that is the automatic reduction in the size of PDP.

Even with the loss of 5 or even 7 governors, not much has changed in terms of the chances of GEJ in 2015. You'll notice that Rochas has been quiet after the Anambra election. Reason is that he is now an endangered specie. Chances are that he may return back to PDP before 2015. Several alignments and re-alignments will still take place before 2015.
I still believe G.E.J could have handled their case without loosing them. They hung around long enough hoping for him to just aknowledge them but I'm sure G.E.J has people around him that told him to ignore them. At a point, it seemed all they wanted was his attention.

As "Commader in chief" he has all they'll ever need but i don't think he played those cards. There's always a halfway line without giving up his ambition, that's what he was supposed to negotiate with them.

O.B.J has that skill and he over-used it when he almost convinced Nigeria to give him a 3rd Term. Some people were actually falling for it till they were jolted back to their senses.

G.E.J hasn't attempted to play that kind of game yet, he's too One-dimensional.

The downside of making threats is when someone calls your bluff.............You then have to put your money where your mouth is.

Grown men don't respond well to threats, there is always a "bargaining chip" and G.E.J has never discovered any in all his dealings.
Education › Re: Jonathan Declares War On ASUU, Orders VCs To Advertise For New Staff by ba7man(m): 7:14pm On Nov 28, 2013
I just watched Nyesome Wike on tv making the pronoucement and that guy's attitude has a bad smell even through the TV.

G.E.J truely lacks knowledge on leadership. Every leader knows that they'll face challenges like this so its best one is prepared with knowledge to deal with it.

According to the "48 Laws of Leadership". Every percieved negative gathering has a head (the most influential/vocal member or members). He's supposed to summon that most influential member to a private meeting outside his comfort zone ( Approach the lead figure not the organization) and open up to him.

Under those conditions, he'll surely be able to negotiate better. ( If Kennedy could negotiate his way out of the "Cuban Missile crisis", What is "ASSU Strike"??

Now that ASSU has called his bluff, if he ends up going back on his threats, he'll appear weaker than he already does.

Politics › Re: Fresh Confusion, Discombobulation And Commotion Rocks New PDP/APC Merger by ba7man(m):
About APC absorbing "alleged" corrupt Politicians: I'm not entirely comfortable with that but they command influence already in this Nigerian Political system. If their corrupt tendencies can be contained to have acess to their influence, then its the right
move......I just hope a change in Party ideology can curb them.

One thing for sure right now is; PDP just got weaker (Again), ACP just got stronger and G.E.J is not a good Politician/Leader to allow all this happen under his watch.

...........Well, he's never being a good Politician or known for any smart Political move. PDP is actually falling apart under his watch no matter what his supporters say or believe.
