Asgard73:You, what is legacy? A governor that moved his state secondary educational delivery from 26th to No. 1 in the country is not a legacy. Anambra still maintains the first 5 in the ranking every year, it is not a signature development. It is your type of reasoning that have made these selfish leaders borrow terribly to leave signature project in which they short-change the people by inflating the projects. A governor that built the fastest teaching hospital as at 2014 does not have a legacy project. The legacy project is that he opened up many rural areas, before he came, the entire Ayamelum who are predominantly rural farmers have no road to get their agricultural products out except via waterways, he opened that zone up with solid tarred road, some of Orumba LGA which also does not have road , All through Awka to Nkpor old road was built by Peter Obi , he provided solid roads, made sure all LGA are connected by good road network. The best part of all these is that he did it without throwing his state into debt that generations yet unborn will be paying. NOTE: IT WILL TAKE LAGOS TILL 2078 to finish paying debts incurred on the state (both external and domestic) since 1999. |
opalu:In Nigerian context, he raised so many leaders (looters) in quote. I pity any day another political party will mount the leadership of Lagos state, the kind of revelation we will hear will be deafening. Have you wondered why all Tinubu men are struggling on their national assignment, ranging from; Yemi Osibanjo - Current VP Federal republic of Nigeria Babatunde Fashola - Current Super Minister (Now Power Minister) Babatunde Fowler - Former Chairman FIRS ( Was chased away on alleged fraud) Lai Mohamed - Current Information Minister Rauf Aregbesola - Current Interior Minister ( Jail break and passport scarcity is synonymous with his tenure ) Sunday Dare - Current Sports Minister Ben Akabueze - DG Budgeting and Planning and numerous others One thing that is common on all the portfolios listed above is that they all have performed abysmal in their roles. What I have seen him do is that he is a good merchant, used the ill gotten money he got from poor masses wealth to sponsor and promote cronies to power who pay his back in multiple folds. He is a very selfish man in my view |
Magnoliaa:Please Tinubu only built 4 millennium secondary schools in his 8years tenure. It was Fashola that made remarkable progress on that https://guardian.ng/sunday-magazine/tinubus-millennium-schools-going-the-way-of-others/ Tinubu has his full allocation + Lagos IGR + External borrowing + Domestics debt (Lagos debt rose astronomically from 1999-2007), nobody is asking Tinubu what he used the money for? Peter Obi used his little IGR and allocation to achieve all those great feat he was able to achieve. In terms of infrastructure that endures on the masses mind and has a good cost-value ratio, there is no way anyone will grade Obi and Tinubu together. Obi is miles better in all dimensions. |
smeag0l:Which IGR did Tinubu increase, when APC wicked propagandist campaign they share the Lagos current IGR value as if Fashola, Ambode and Sanwolu are dunce and puppet. I told people that I lived in Lagos before Tinubu and was also in Lagos after Tinubu, there was nothing spectacular from him. Before Tinubu came , Buba Marwa was winning award left, right ,center with this same state called Lagos. Tinubu was just coincidentally lucky to be in Lagos at the return of Democracy which offered more foreign investors enabling environment to flood Nigeria. Which state is the business hub, - Lagos (not by any extra act/action from Lagos state government) , so the growth was triggered by our return to democracy and not for any special leadership tact from Tinubu. Some people said Lagos accommodated everyone and even allowed Igbo's to aspire and vie for some positions under Tinubu, they forgot about the beauty of democracy, any group with large population becomes a stakeholder. That is why Lagos Cabinet will be different from Anambra, Gombe or Osun. Lagos is a cosmopolitan state unlike those other states I listed. So Tinubu did not do anything spectacular. |
DO NOT ALLOW PROPAGANDIST (WEY GO STILL FOLLOW SUFFER WITH ALL NIGERIANS ) TO DECEIVE YOU TINUBU LCDA ISSUE AND OBASANJO WITHOLD OF LAGOS ALLOCATION WAS LATE 2005. PLEASE WHEN THEY COMPLAIN OF THAT ISSUE, ASK THEM WHAT TINUBU WAS ABLE TO ACHIEVE BETWEEN MAY 1999 - AUG. 2005 WHEN HE WAS RECEIVING FULL ALLOCATION. AMBODE DID ONLY 4YEARS AND ALL OF US THAT LIVED IN LAGOS CAN ATTEST TO WHAT HE DELIVERED. ASK THEM TO SHOW US WHAT TINUBU DELIVERED IN HIS 5YEARS OF FULL ALLOCATION, LET US FORGET THE LAST 3YEARS. WITH MASSIVE LAGOS IGR , GOD WILL NOT BE KIND TO TINUBU AND HIS CRONIES. NIGERIA SHALL NOT GO THE WRONG PATH AGAIN |
anonymous1759:I am sure, you did not allow yourself to learn things from those that know. Anambra state university operate a multi-campus structure. The school main campus of the school was conceived and built at Uli from 2000, but the Igbaraiam campus was built by Peter Obi. YOU DID NOT BURST ANY LIE, YOU ONLY FAILED TO ASK RIGHT QUESTION AND LEARN. Obi is not a propagandist like who ever you are supporting, I asked DMO office to release the domestic and external debt of Lagos. If you see how Lagos debt rose in billions of dollars , you will know why every meaningful Lagosians ( Not other people from South west ) should be very angry and sober with all the people that have ruled Lagos. PETER OBI has no equals in governance in Nigeria. Initially , the crazy narrative that he saved money without doing project, now , you are seeing projects a man was able to achieve in 8years without plunging his people into perpetual debt. The debts Tinubu borrowed for Lagos and looted will still be deducted from Lagos allocation till 2078. |
rusher14:Oga, they did not ask who painted NKPOR BRIDGE, the question is who built the bridge. PETER OBI built Nkpor bridge , that is my zone, we were using the bridge few years before Obiano was elected. So will like you to stick on verifiable facts. If Obiano painted the bridge , would you attribute the bridge to him. Let us not allow tribalism to becloud our judgement and plunge this nation into another avoidable waste of time. I shared with someone that the amount of money APC spent in unveiling Shettima shows that it is business as usual for APC as our elite do not see reasons to cut unnecessary wastage in the polity. A vote for Tinubu or Atiku is a vote for same of the same |
It is unfortunate that a party in power , has its candidate promising to handle decaying aspects of our polity Is there something the two know that we don't know? If they know the solution, why have they not supported Buhari regime over the past 7years to do better. Like I have always shared, Tinubu's finest men are/were in Buhari's regime, holding very important portfolios. Yemi Oshibanjo - VP Babatunde Fashola - Power Sunday Dare - Sports Rauf Aregbesola - Interior Babatunde Fowler - FIRS (Former Chairman) Lai Mohamed - Information Ben Akabueze - Budgeting and Planning (DG) and many others not listed, the common denominator on all these offices is abysmal failure. Nigeria should ask the right questions, unless we want to continue the Cabal rhetoric for the next 8years else Tinubu season is in the past. Tinubu is old and unfit health-wise to take the rigors of the number 1 citizen of Nigeria. It is like bringing back Amokachi to play for Super Eagles 2023 tournament because he was once a good player, that will be a total disaster for him and the team, let us not play with our lives. Over time because of how our electoral system is skewed, Nigerian masses have not seen themselves as the employers of these politicians and their political parties. What all of us in this Country want is good governance regardless of who offers that. As a business owner, do you compensate a failed staff/department with a new struggling project, the answer is NO. Lets us not re-enforce failure |
chidi10o:He might not be a saint but has played a different type of politics which resonates with the Nigerian masses. Would you know what the act of not collecting Pension and Gratuity that is duly his means to Anambra state and Nigeria in general, most ex governors are in the Senate, some are Ministers, they are paid salaries attached to their current role and they also receive ex-Governors package, have you sat down to ask yourself how many people could replicate what Peter Obi did in that regards. Politicians should not take it as a profession, some people passed through governance at local government , state or national, they instituted channels to milk the state even after their tenures. That should not be celebrated. It should be for each to serve his/her tenure and at the end of your tenure , go back to your career or business which you were doing before coming to politics. |
Moh247:The world is not about degrees but capabilities, I currently work with a US IT firm where 60% of my departmental colleagues are PhD holders, coming from a Nigerian school system did not make me a less resource to those with US or UK PhD. The idea is not what you graduate with but what capacity you have acquired over time. I came out of a Nigerian University with a 2.2 but I know that does not define me as I was combining personal business with academics during my University days. I had my Masters in Europe and came out top of the class. Short industry-target courses, industry certification and strong capabilities will be preferred over a PhD in many industries including leadership industry. It is only in Nigeria that people with degree has this entitlement mentality but poses very little capacity to deliver at per with the degree they acquired. If you have a company which you so much cherish to nurture and get the best out of, who among these candidates will you choose to run it to profitability. In football, there is a reason why good coaches only field players that are in form and not the most skillful. An average player with good skill and good form will always make the team first before an excellent skillful player that is in bad form. That is the situation we find ourselves in Nigeria, Peter Obi might not be 360degree of what Nigeria yarn for but amongst the different Presidential standard bearers, Peter Obi is the most in form and capable to deliver a better Nigeria for us all. |

When you are comparing performance, what are your basis for comparison? The gigantic project and infrastructure delivered or what? Has anyone asked at what cost-value ratio did those infrastructure come at. Go and check the external and domestic debt of Borno state under Kassim Shettima tenure and compare it with the value of the projects delivered, then do same for Peter Obi during his tenure and compare. If two workers both earn 50,000 as salary at their work place and both after working for 2years, Mr.A borrowed 4million to get a 4.4million car where he contributed 400k , and Mr.B bought a used Nigerian 2001 Camry at 850k fully funded by himself. If you are shown and judging them without data by their cars, who will you pick Mr.A as a top performer and better resource manager, sure you will go for someone with a bigger car, but that judgement will change if you know that he borrowed 4million for that better car which is a liability already in his balance sheet. We should start asking all these administrators what they did with the funds they borrowed on our behalf. A prudent manager that works with his resources and borrows for investment is better than a manager that borrows for gigantic elephant project without adequate savings. I wish our youths are asking the right questions. |
Shugavee:Why should you be bothered, Atiku is from the North and a muslim , we are told that only Northern muslim votes determine who wins the presidential election. If Atiku is so good to have gotten majority of Northern votes, he should be President. Same man that SE have given 100% vote in the past connived with the party chairman to take away the legitimate turn of the south in PDP. Let us all go into the ring, no permutation, if INEC is fair to all, let the candidate with the largest vote win. |
Taba21:NIGERIANS, WHERE IS THE JUSTICE !!! It surprises me when the same crop of people that think in the direction that a south easterner regardless of his political affiliation cannot be handed over power in Nigeria because of activities of a group of people (IPOB) from south east who are agitating because of the same clear injustice, could not also stamp their feet and share same sentiments that because Boko-haram and Banditry is ravaging the North East and North West respectively , no northerner from such zone is good enough to administer the nation. When Boko-Haram started , it was the Igbos that was their target, I remembered in 2012 or thereabout when they went to Mubi and cleared Igbos holding their monthly town union meeting, Nigeria did not stop. Labor party has presented a candidate that has good appeal, instead of discussing issues that will move us all together and asking the right questions to all the contestants. People like the OP are towing tribal lines. Could we start asking the standard bearers of the 4 known parties Atiku , Tinubu, Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, how much they got during their tenures or tenures they are part of, how much was borrowed and what is the independent valuation of these projects funded by accrued and borrowed funds. For instance , a community with a common purse , when Mr.A was community leader for a tenure, he borrowed 10million on behalf of the community to deliver a project independently valued at 6.5m, then come the tenure of Mr.B who out of his own financial sagacity and prudent management of same community purse was able to deliver a project 2million project that is independently valued at 2.05million, if we are not asking the right questions, we might think because Mr.A delivered better because he did a project of 6.5million, that is absolutely false if you have all the data and know the value of the project vis-a-vis what was budgetted for it, you will know that Mr.A short-changed the community by 3.5m. If we know the extent Lagos domestic and external debt skyrocketed between 1999 to 2007, you will marvel. I have asked in multiple platform for someone to show me what Tinubu did with those money during his time, do not show me projects that were executed by his successors. From 1999 to 2004, Tinubu administration got both full FGN allocation and Lagos IGR, could you share what he achieved in that 5years, lets leave the last 3years when he created LCDA and Lagos allocation was withheld. Note that those fund borrowed on behalf on people of Lagos which has gone to individual pockets will still be paid for from our common wealth, that translates to more taxation or lesser development for the masses in future. Ambode did one tenure and Lagosians could attest to his performance. People in Bayelsa have not been better placed that others because Jonathan was there for 6years nor the people of Katsina more secured because they have their son as President going to 8years , Ogun has not over-turned Lagos status because Obasanjo was in power for 8years. It is just a few Political elites that benefit from short-changing competence for tribal sentiments. The masses gain nothing as Bread is expensive in Oshogbo as it is in Enugu, same in Gombe and Kebbi. If Peter Obi has not been tested and found competent , a typical Igbo person will not waste his time queuing behind him. Kingsley Muoghalu had been on previous Presidential election Ballot paper in 2015 and 2019 but the South east has gone for PDP candidates showing they do not play ethnic game. What the Igbo man have only asked for is an enabling environment to thrive. Nigeria as a country need more acculturation because I have seen that many people that do not understand the republican nature of an Igbo man often mis-represent it as arrogance. |
Yet to get the achievements of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his 8years period as Governor of Lagos? Same "Grab power by all means " sentiments that birthed APC Buhari in 2015 is out again in 2023. APC as a party thrived on lies and propaganda, what achievement will APC campaign with after having the presidency for more than 7years? Tinubu's finest men were/are in Buhari's regime and have not shown any capability. The first judgement call for Tinubu (Someone that has had all his lifetime ambition on being Nigerian's number one citizen) in picking running mate, though he took all the time in the world becoming the last to announce his running mate, still his judgement came out dis-satisfactory to many Nigerians, one of the hallmark of God leadership is making the right judgement. One of the first sign of potential failure we witnessed in the start of Buhari administration when he took almost 6months to institute cabinet, Tinubu will be Buhari Pro-Max and sincerely we should not expect any difference from Tinubu government from that of Buharis. If Tinubu ever win 2023 Presidency through rigging or other illegal means , quote me , the status quo remains same and Nigerian masses will bear the pain for another 4 to 8 years.. |
Quest7777:Did you read his write-up or you just read the caption and penned down your comment. Most of us are very laid back in reading, if you have read his write-up well , you would have seen you both are thinking in the same direction. |
Still expecting data driven engagements without insults and grand-standing. Youths, we should start asking the right questions. Waiting for anyone that knows Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu achievements during his 8years at Alausa to share that with me. God bless Nigeria |
I am still waiting for someone to educate me on the achievements of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his 8years in office as Governor of Lagos state. What I have seen in most media propaganda is people attributing efforts and accomplishments of his predecessors and also successors to him as if Lagos started in 1999. Some also shared that he ruled Lagos without FGN allocation, this assertion is entirely false as Tinubu's first tenure 1999 - 2003 was fully funded , the FGN withholding of Lagos state allocation occurred from late 2014 when the LCDAs were created to compensate a selected few. Some cited Model Secondary schools , and a fact check will show that Real Admiral Mike Akhigbe started Model secondary schools in Lagos long before the 4th republic, the only thing we remember during Tinubu's regime was the splitting of the model schools into Junior and Senior schools. All additional infrastructure on model schools happened from Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF) regime. I was in Lagos before 4th republic and returned to Lagos after my service year in 2004 and will be glad to say there was no change at all. People have not been courageous enough to ask how both external and domestic debts in Lagos skyrocketed during those 8years. I am getting a comprehensive report out soon on this and will shock you with what was borrowed for the good residents of Lagos to pay back without reasonable value on ground to account for it. Those borrowings that they channeled into their personal purse will be paid by me and you and our unborn children. I am still very eager for someone to point me to the projects that Tinubu's 8years accomplished in Lagos , even if completing the projects the military started or completed projects that he initiated during his 8year tenure. At least lets have what he did in the first 4years when he got all FGN allocation + Lagos IGR. No one should come to tell me about drafting Lagos Master plan, as if subsequent administrators are just roller-coasters, same man as a God-father plotted the un-succesful removal of BRF after his first tenure, if there is a Master plan which BRF followed , why was the plot ever conceived. A friend was campaigning with the slogan that Tinubu built several men, I sat him down and shared my view that when a politician is seen with such influence , it means he has used the masses common fund to elevate some selected few. I read a post that compared Tinubu's finest men working in Buhari administration , from Osibanjo to Fashola to Aregbosola to Fowler to Akubueze etc, we have witnessed failures in gigantic proportion, today after 7+ years, Nigeria could not boost of power , are we to talk of the Immigration issues which Nigerians has endured since the administration of Aregbesola, un-availability of travel documents, we are now seeing increased Jail break occurrence. Has our budgeting changed because we have the brightest mind from Tinubu's camp as DG, or do we talk about Tunde Fowler that was messed out of office because of financial mis-appropriation. What magic do we expect from someone that has tested his finest men on a national scale for 7years and all have performed woefully. We should not make the mistakes of the past. Waiting to be schooled on his accomplishments |
From the guys accent, you could decode he is not an Igbo guy. It marvels me the extent people go to dis-credit Peter Obi. Peter Obi remains the only candidate that has ensure all his interviews are devoid of character maligning of his opponents . Nigerians please wake up |
jkpbestseries:I doubt this your assertion, Tinubu's finest crew were/are part of this Buhari administration, from Babatunde Fashola to Babatunde Fowler to Rauf Aregbesola to Prof. Yemi Osibanjo etc, all these Tinubu men have performed woefully in their departments. Today, Fashola has been driving Power generation in the reverse gear, Fowler was disgraced out of office on financial misappropriation, Aregbesola has made renewing and obtaining Nigerian passport as difficult as getting US visa, not to talk of Osibanjo , the VP that has not contributed much to the Nigerian state. Lagos with its IGR and the level of national triggered development pre fourth republic, could be administered by any reasonable human with average administrative capability. |
The same people that want us to compare Obiano with Peter Obi has not compared projects delivered by Sen. Ahmed Tinubu with that of subsequent Lagos governments that followed him. When people shout Jagaban did wonders in Lagos, have you asked yourself how many projects he was able to deliver? I lived in Lagos pre-fourth republic that ushered Sen. Tinubu in, the then Governor was Col. Buba Marwa, I remembered he was getting awards left, right and center for all the great initiatives and projects he undertook in Lagos. Lagos was already working with great infrastructure pre-fourth republic. Almost every project delivered in Lagos since we started the new democratic dispensation was done post Tinubu tenure, but everyone attribute all the hardwork of Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu to him , citing that he created a Master plan for Lagos which others worked with. I have not seen any comparison between Fashola and Tinubu, that will do great dis-service to Tinubu as he was the least performed in terms of project delivery. Also their tenure circumstances might not be the same and do not call for such comparison. The BRT was introduced by Fashola, the city landscape improvement was handled by Fashola, all the projects been showcased as Tinubu's legacy were executed after him. During Tinubu's tenure which I experienced as I was still in Nigeria, living in Lagos then, traffic and Molue was the order of the day. I have not seen anyone from the south-west attributing the gains of Fashola to Fashola instead, they are given ot Tinubu. I am not okay with the way OP is bringing up comparison between Peter Obi and Obiano, whom Obi left strong financial base and a working and secured Anambra for Obiano to inherit. I was discussing with a friend who shared with me that all through his days at UniZik Awka which fell into Peter Obi's tenure, he did not witness Cult violent activity and killings which was prevalent pre-Peter Obi's tenure, he was able to maintain Security and handed over to Obiano a secured state , would we say same of what was handed over to Soludu. Let us give honor to whom honor is due and stop all these distraction on the way of making Nigeria better for all of us. |
It is very very annoying how people always want to pull down other people. Peter Obi left enough money that provided adequate stability for his successor Willy Obiano whom he helped to succeed him in APGA. If Obiano has done all these projects highlighted, could we not attribute it to a master plan drawn by Peter Obi, Obi has shared on National television that he met no master plan for Anambra when he took over power in 2006. I have asked Nigerian youths to look beyond gigantic infrastructure and start demanding utility-value accountability. Assuming Mr. A buys a 2013 Camry with the community common purse, spent 8milion for the car that is valued at 6.5m on the open market , then Mr.B buys a 2002 Corolla for the same community with their common purse for 2.2m and the open market price of such car is 2.3million. If you are asked who is greater, some people without the whole data will choose Mr.A because he bought a bigger and better car for the community without understanding that the community was short-changed in the purchase. This analogy is same when most of our politicians engage in these gigantic projects. |
niyogeol:Thank you @niyogeo, Your insightful contribution is much appreciated, was looking at some quick wins , the nursing route will likely take additional 4 years to actualize. Nevertheless, we will keep it as an option. Please also clarifying what you mean by " through Bel**** " ? |
Mekas2016:Thank you @Mekas2016. It is a place we will like to settle in. Thank you for sharing your insight |
Bishop:Thank you @Bishop for your contribution. |
Saturn444:Thank you @Saturn444, I am in the Middle East together with my family and all my kids were born here, like someone shared above, regardless of the number of years , there are some things which you could not get regardless of the number of years you reside here. I am comfortable here because of my job but I believe my family will experience a better life and status if they relocate to Europe. |
TheGreatOne90:Thank you @TheGreatOne90, Not sure we could afford the route of citizenship by investment |
Donpenny:Thank you @Donpenny, appreciate your input. |
Richy4:Thank you @Richy4, I have traveled to many European countries in the course of my job and vacations, we are at peace with Republic of Ireland. |
I opened a separate thread [https://www.nairaland.com/6902746/inquire-best-way-relocate-family#108652354] , would like to share same here as I am aware we have so many knowledgeable people here that could offer me the desired assistance. Hi great people, I have been a guest reader on this platform for many years and I have seen people provide great insight on issues thrown out on the platform. Please I need a guide on the best path to relocate my family to Ireland. We are a family of 6 and I have been working in the middle east for the past 16years, my family has been here with me for more than 10years. I am planning to relocate my family to Europe, Republic of Ireland to be precise as I am in-love with the family orientation in the country and it is an English country. My wife has a diploma from Nigerian Polytechnic and I am looking at the possibility of her and our four kids relocating to Ireland while I stay back in the middle East. I, personally earn better here and not thinking of relocating but will be visiting my family routinely. For people that are already living in Ireland, could you guide us on the best way to achieve this and any risk or challenge to expect especially on the two listed below. a) Have heard going through school route is a viable options which I am willing to explore for my wife, I am concerned if the country will be able to give my kids visa too to join their mother while she study. b) Also what would child care/nanny support be like for a mother of 4 (kids age 11, 9, 7 and 4), heard it is expensive in Ireland, what is the possibility of having my mother-in-law stay with them to provide child care and save that extra cost. Thank you |
Thank you @Landmack for your suggestions, Would you know the best way to tag the moderator(s), could not see any guide here. I used the "Mail Mods" on the page to send an email, don't know if that is same as tagging them. |

I am actually very open minded to this topic. And I am glad the OP created both of them.
