babapupa,

You're an idiot for making such a comment. I don't have time for akamu-brained zombies like you, okay. If your sorry backside has an axe to grind with me then say it. Nonsense!
Warning and grinding axe are 2 different things and I do believe you're old enough to know the difference. Unfortunately and based on your puerile behavior and name calling tantrums, I'm inclined to reason that you don't know.

Like I said, you're free to run your mouth as much as you want, it's your God given right, just don't send me no nonsense. That's all I ask. Try it again and we'll arrive at the axe level. For now, it's just a warning.

Let's not get carried away and start dumping federal problems and neglects on Fashola's lap, we all know what the man is capable of doing if equipped with adequate funds.

Apapa/Tin-Can/Oshodi Expressway are the most strategically important roads in Nigeria and they are Federal roads. The roads links our busiest seaports, busiest domestic and international airports and the busiest industrial estates in Nigeria.

The federal airport road was so bad, the state had to beg the federal government to hand it over for immediate reconstruction. The same roads are access points to many of the Lagos urban and semi-urban settlements from Ejigbo to Ikotun, Okota, Surulere, Mushin , Ajao Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Coker, Ajeromi, Badagry and Lagos Island .

It links industrial estates in Mile 2, Amuwo, Illupeju, Matori and Isolo industrial Estates where many tax and income generating business that helps Nigeria's GDP.

These roads should be handed over to the Lagos state government with funds for upgrade, reconstruction and maintenance.

What has Fashola done? Lagos works. However, those of us from rural parts of the State like Epe want to see some developments there too!
Lekki/Epe express was designed to transform Epe. The best and only way to drastically develop and transform any community is availability of dependable road network, easy access and movement of people, goods and services.

Epe is destined to be one of the best places to live and do business in Lagos state. Quality of life is great, the environment is still pristine, great water front properties and ascending property value. Access to prime areas like Lekki/VI with great night live, restaurants, movies and shopping is a major plus.

What Has Fashola Really Done?
Many posters have listed what he has done, even the one below yours. Saying he hasn't done anything is not only lies ad dishonesty, it prevents people from taking you seriously because it's not only obvious what he has done, it's out there in the open.

Every sane and rational human being knows it's absolutely impossible to transform overnight decades of rot and neglect, but one thing you can not honestly let out of your mouth is "Fashola is not doing anything"

You were talking about Oshodi and how Fashola abused his power,

Is this not the same oshodi and what fashola is doing? if getting rid of dirt, chaos, insanity and replacing with sanity, cleanliness and safety is abuse of power, I'll def' want him to abuse his power every second and every day,

if somebody is building roads and infrastructure, is he not employing human beings to do the job, or are aliens from outer space involved here? huh

abi must he employ the entire two zillion people in lagos before understanding reaches some people in their armchairs.

See lagos compared to the whole Nigeria:

I keep telling you people to hold your state governors, legislators and senators accountable for the public funds they're controlling, but una dey fear witches for una villages come begin yab lagos wey dey house una.
I don't know who they think built or is building all the roads, bridges, the  new court houses, all the new markets, the new drivers institutes, the new parks, hospitals and maternal centers, who's  operating the BRT? who's paying the  street sweepers, who's paying the landscaping folks and making sure all the trees and flowers are growing and grasses  stays green under the hot lagos sun day after day. Lets not even talk about the civil service and tons of state agencies like Lasepa, Lasaa, lasema, lawman, lastma, lirs, lasambus.

The rail system alone is creating 4000 jobs, you still have the 10 lane badagry express and lekki epe express.

I'm even surprised the sate is only working with just 'little over 2 billion dollars budget/18 million people.

The city of Los Angeles with a population of just 10 million works with 24 billion and they're basically maintaining existing infrastructures, not starting from scratch like Lagos.

It's somehow hard to take people seriously with their unfair, blind and mindless criticisms. They're either clueless, know little or nothing about the state, disingenuous or criticizing just for the heck of it.

Even, Rivers state's budget (N432.28 billion) with just 5 million people is higher than Lagos state with 18 million people (N429.00 billion) can't even smell lagos in all areas of development.

Talk of misplaced priorities.

Its the duty of the fed govt to donate and it has.
How come Fash is not helping poor peoples of Nigeria but saw it fit to donate to a country that the entire world is helping?
Who should donate to millions of Nigerians below poverty line?

Talk of misplaced priorities eh!
What if it was the other way around and your entire community looks like earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince with you and your people homeless, even your president or leader homeless, with mass causalities, with dead/death everywhere, with all administrative entities destroyed and zero inftrastructure and resources to even provide water for your people to drink and Haiti offered you financial assistance, is it safe to conclude that in your right thinking head, you'll say hell no, your people are not dying, they're not earthquake ravaged lime mines so do I don't need your help?

Is this your own interpretation of leadership?  I really thank God Lagos state is not blessed with mean spirited and callous folks/leadership like some of you.

Btw, of what use is the useless federal government you guys keep referencing? Let me lay out the cold truth in case you're still dreaming in la la land. Your federal gov. and even some states don't give a dam about you or your existence, lagos is a million years ahead of your federal government, they are not even in the same league and the last thing I wanna see is Lagos looking at Abuja before making decisions for the people of Lagos state.

Do you know there's not a single drop of Swine flu vaccine in Nigeria when governments all over the world are vaccinating their people against the deadly virus? But guess who's ordering swine flue vaccine to protect Lagosians while you guys are here bickering and crying over 1 million dollars? The Lagos state government of course.

You think Lagos state should have waited for/asked the federal government for permission before ordering swine flue vaccine to protect Lagosians because we have a health ministry who's job it is to provide vaccines and coordinate vaccination efforts in every corner of the country. My friend, only a foolish and irresponsible state administrator sits on their hands/waits around for your clueless and absent federal government. How many states are even thinking about swine flue talk less of ordering vaccine?

One more thing, back in the seventies, the Lagos state government embarked on metrol rail system and decided to work with the federal government to deliver the project, the federal government did not only ambushed and derailed the project, the state lost over 70 million dollars back them, now it's costing them over a billion dollars to do the same thing and thank God they're not messing with the federal government this time around and the people of Lagos state should be enjoying Metro 24 months from now while your federal rail system remains a relic.

It beast the hell out of me when you guys talk about your federal government as if it some king of responsible and functioning government, you don't even have a freeking president for crying out loud.

What of public water supply?
Lagos To Get 30 Million Gallons Of Water Daily Soon

Jan 21, 2010 - Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Thursday commissioned two mini water works located at Mende, Maryland and Magodo in Kosofe Local Government with a firm commitment that 30 million gallons of water would soon be delivered to the people from the 15 mini water works being constructed across the State.

According to Governor Fashola who spoke while commissioning the two mini water works that will deliver two million gallons of water each, eight of the mini water works have been fully completed and are being handed over to the people of the communities where they are located beginning with Magodo and Mende.

He added that the remaining seven are also at different stages of completion across the State with all of them scheduled for delivery in the next few weeks as part of the short term plan of providing water for the populace.

The Governor also said the new 15 mini water works in addition to providing 30 million gallons of water to the people of Lagos daily would also each come with five kilometre reticulation to aid the distribution of the water.

Governor Fashola said as part of the medium term plan of the State Government for solving the problem of water supply, the Iju Waterworks and Adiyan water works with a capacity to produce 130 million gallons of water daily would be positioned for optimum production as the state is building a 12.5 megawatt independent power station that would be dedicated to the two water works, promising that before June this year, the Independent power station would be commissioned.

Governor Fashola who described the commissioning of the two mini water works at Mende and Magodo as a fulfillment of his electoral promises to the people two and half years ago, added that on the long term plan, the Government would build new massive waterworks through the Adiyan Phase 2 and Odomola in Epe.

While stressing that the plans form part of the water sector reforms of the Government, he invited private investors to come forward and partner with the state by investing in the water sector just as it is done overseas.

He also said water supply is a major component of the State Government’s responsibility to sustain the environment, promote sustainability and provision of health care and prevent disease.

In his words: “While some people see this as a Millennium Development Goal (MDG) or a goal that has a particular date, we in our party (the Action Congress) see it as a Minimum Development Goal”.

Governor Fashola added: “A long time ago they told us that everything will happen in Year 2010, we are now in 2010, the miraculous year. The Action Congress (AC) believes that this are things that should not have a date but should be the primary function of any serious party that wants to form government in this country” .

Governor Fashola also expressed appreciation to the contractor which handled the mini water works at Magodo for donating a computer and laboratory science block to the school behind the water works without any prompting.

He described the conduct of the contractor as a commendable act of giving something back to the community by people who have prospered from their endeavours in the area.

On the plea and clamour of some youths in Mende, Maryland for the Governor to intervene and save the playground in the area, Governor Fashola said he has been briefed on the issue by leaders like Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora and Honourable Bayo Osinowo, promising to ensure that the playground is saved.

He appealed to the residents of the communities where the water works are located not to see the projects as government properties, but facilities they should be ready to defend, adding that the people should guide against vandalisation, cutting of pipe and making illegal connections.

Governor Fashola also implored residents to pay their water bills regularly noting that refusing to do so will deprive the water corporation of resources to keep the supply going, buy diesel and maintain the facility, which would ultimately be inimical to the ability of the facility to supply water to the people.

Earlier, while speaking at the commissioning of the water works at Magodo, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Olorunimbe Mamora commended Governor Babatunde Fashola for becoming the trademark for performance and good governance in Nigeria.

Senator Mamora also acknowledged the role of former Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who laid the foundation, saying no leadership is complete without succession adding that the vision, courage and strategy laid down by Asiwaju Tinubu is what Fashola is putting in place and taking higher.

Also speaking, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency, Mr Bayo Oshinowo commended Governor Fashola for not disappointing the party which nominated him for the Governorship election in 2007 by fulfilling his electoral promises.

The Governor also inspected the Oregun and Egan-Igando Skill Acquisition centres where costumes for the forthcoming Lagos Fanty festival are being produced.

Governor Fashola who was received by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Joke Orelope Adefulire and Mr Disun Holloway at both centres expressed satisfaction with the level of output by the trainees.

Governor Fashola told the trainees at the Egan Igando centre after he had asked one of them to assess the level of knowledge already imparted on them since the training started that he is very proud of them.

He added that he had the choice of importing the costume, but opted to give the opportunity to the Centres, adding that with the quality of what has been produced, they have confirmed that Nigerians can do well if given the opportunity.

Among those present at the ceremony were some members of the State Executive Council, party leaders like Alhaji Abiodun Sunmola, Chief Bushura Alebiosu, Group Managing Director of the Lagos State Water Corporation, Engineer Shayo Holloway, traditional rulers and many important dignitaries.

Don't you first have to equip him with the same tools and financial resources available to folks in the so called society where expectation is more and watch him perform before judging him? Most of the societies you're talking about are working off ready made platform built by decades of attentive governance and ever increasing financial resources. I am not troublesome. It is serious that people are so closed up inside boxes they have defined for themselves and for others. We are presented with information as humans and are each allowed to attack it from different angles. It is apparent that some people feel the world begins and ends with them, in the sense that they allow no other views other than theirs to stand, and that is a serious problem.

We are dealing today with terrorists in places like Jos, what do you think there number one issue is? They are unable to handle opposing views of any kind and that is what we see right here. Misreading of information presented simply because it does not fit into the comfortable box we are used to. Why?

What is with that need? Why are YOU UNABLE to accept that definition of RIGHT AND WRONG does not start and end with YOU? Why are you unable to understand that people have a right to a differing view? That you felt to INSULT and TAG/LABEL them dissenters’ speaks volumes of you, not them. It is seriously childish especially in a FORUM. You need to understand and expect people will not always agree with you or see things through your eyes, ESPECIALLY in a forum.
Tell me, what is so closed up inside boxes about people commending what they believed to be a good thing? Couldn't the same argument be made about your stance and views? Do you even read the silly nonsense you post sometimes?

You keep going on and on about views, but you're in effect  doing the same thing. People like you make silly claims about other people's views when you run out of valid and credible points to further your argument.

Stop whining and crying, views cuts both ways and if you're out of points, butt out and let people and exchange their views in peace without your meaningless rants and distractions.

Ok, let's make this very easy because you can not have both ways, you either support and disagree at the same time and what you wrote doesn't sound like you're on the same page with the Lagos state government, in fact you're on the other side of the fence.

You talk about Lagos State emergency reserve. Is that not money reserved for emergencies IN LAGOS? Fashola cannot afford to give away $1m of tax payers money when majority of Lagosians still live in squalor. Half of that money can be used in providing employment for a lot of people that have been very recently  displaced from their jobs and businesses , build more health centres and other basic infrastructure.

I'm all for team Fashola but if we are to truly appreciate him as a Governor, we need to be able to point out his good and bad sides and not give him accolades for everything single thing he does like he's the damn Messiah.
Answer yes or no?

By donating a million dollars to Haiti, did the Lagos state government did the right thing?

Btw, you were not speaking for yourself because you said the mentioned tax payers and said the state can not afford 1 million dollars? you're speaking for a lot of people because the state doesn't belong to you and you're not the only tax payer in the state of Lagos. Next time, add a disclaimer that you're speaking for your self and quit generalizing.

Lagos Orders For Swine Flu Vaccines
January 20, 2010 16:39 (32 minutes ago), 5 views

By Kazeem Ugbodaga

Following the outbreak of HINI Influenza, known as Swine Flu, the Lagos State Government has ordered the shipment of bulk of vaccines from abroad to curtail the disease.

The government said the vaccines were expected in the state in the next four weeks, saying that as at present, no vaccine was available in the country to curtail the spread of the disease.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris called on members of the public to take precautionary measures to avert contacting the deadly disease, which had so far claimed one life in Lagos State.

He disclosed that the vaccines had been ordered, adding that demand for the vaccine worldwide had outstripped the supply, which made it difficult to procure, coupled with the high cost of the vaccine.

The commissioner stated that he could not tell when the vaccines would arrived and that the state government would give it out free to victims of the virus.

He added that only few laboratories currently conduct test on the HINI virus, adding that these laboratories belonged to the Federal Government.

Eight other Lagosians, out of 52 people tested for the virus, were declared positive and are under treatment with Tami flu, a drug meant to reduce the pang of the disease.

Idris, however, said there was no cause for alarm, as the state government was in total control of the situation and warned Lagosians to stay away from people suspected to have flu-like symptom and have the history of having travelled to areas with high risk of swine flu.
