i think the Federal government should make sure that it creates opportunities all over the country, and not creating parastatals and making lagos the headquarters, yes, one would say lagos is the commercial capital of nigeria, correct!!! but i must say it is because over the years, the policies of government have been favouring lagos, just recently, as congested lagos is the federal government wants to build a new refinery in this same lagos, what do you expect when its complete, more people, more cars, more tankers, etc, more congestion, what has happened to ogun state, and other states around lagos if they want to boost supply to lagos, presently all the petrol, diesel, kerosene is imported through Apapa, what happens to other ports in the country like warri, calabar and port harcourt and other inland ports. the government needs to act fast, if not everybody in nigeria (140 million people) will end up in lagos in the next 5-10 years, and the place will just explode because all social vices will be bred in astronomical proprtions like cultism, armed roberry, kidnapping, prostitution, drugs, etc because nobody knows anybody. Nigeria is big enough for lagos not to be congeted like this, develop our cities, and the middle class will return, if not what we will continue be seeing is the super rich with 10 cars each and Castles in VI, Lekki, Ikoyi etc and the super poor dragging molue and living like chickens in ajengule, oshodi, etc, A word is enough for the wise!!!! |
stillwater:Firstly,i think they are opprotunities in Lagos, but the oppportunities are not unlimited, so so take for example 1000 people coming to lagos for 100 oppotunities, at the end of the day you will find the other 900 staying back (jobless) expecting their time to come in the process causing all sorts of accomodation and environmental problems for those who can afford to stay.thats one angle. Secondly, the Federal government has a major role to play in this because it has the powers to make policies to take away some businesses away from lagos, take for example a man from Onitsha does not need to import his goods through lagos state if the infrastructure at warri port or even port harcourt port is ok, there was even a policy one time that all imported goods into nigeria should come through Apapa, that alone brought so many people to lagos, Customs, truck drivers, clearing agents, importers, etc, all with their families. That alone was enough to swell the population of Lagos. Nigeria has a population of 140 million. |
flies will always follow shit, only if the shit is there, take the shit away, the flies are gone!!!ideas onhow to take away the shit!!! thanks sean |
Good day all, The traffic conjestion we are experienceing in lagos is becoming unbearable, people are now waking up as early as 3.30am to prepare for work at 8am, i think it is madness, whether you have a car or not, the situation is the same, expansion of roads and providing flyovers is short term considering the population of Nigeria, i think what the federal government should do is to provide infrastructure and logistics at other sea ports in nigeria like warri, port harcourt and calabar or ibaka, so that ships that are importing products into nigeria can berth there, then make a policy that will make ships divert to the other ports. i think it will take away a large chunk of traders, importing agents and banks from lagos. i need more suggetions, something must be done fast. Thank You |

i really wonder how ijaw became the 4th largest ethnic group in nigeria, when we do not even see much of them in our day to day life.they are just popular because of the "media inflated millitants", just like the ogoni people.the fourth largest ethnic group to my knowledge in nigeria is the Efik/Ibibio. you see the 'calabar' man or woman everywhere in nigeria. enough of these popularity campaign. We in the niger delta should fight the cause as a niger delta cause and NOT an ethnic cause. fighting for the federal charater should be another fight entirely and not under the disguise of niger delta cause.THE NIGER DELTA SHOULD BE DEVELOPED TO ACCOUNT FOR THE WEALTH IT IS PRODUCING FOR THE NATION. PERIOD!!! |
Meanwhile allocation is not based on population!!!but contribution to govt coffers ![]() |

Guys its time to drop those good old sayings in our Language,i think i have an ibibio one that goes like this: Nko Akpan abre mbre ima nye Akpatere awan ete omo, Nko ediono ke enye ayogo adi do awan (Must Akpan start making love moves towards his father's last wife for them to know that Akpan needs a wife?) |
Na waoo, Some nigerians because they have gone abroad have the guts to call their fellow nigerians all sorts of names, i have news for you, they will never love you, especially the britishor any eu. let me inform you all if you never knew, if yaradua doesnt speak up now, Nigerians will be thrown out in mid air, or to be nice transported along the cargo. we have a proverb in my place that says that he who calls his house rubbish , the neighbours will set it on fire.SO BA go to hell with u malitreatment. i blame those Nigerians that go there and beg for food and the shelter, as for me and my generation , we are proud NAIJA MEN AND WOMEN.WE ARE NEVER SLAVES!!!!AND WILL NEVER BE AGAIAN!!!! I dont see any thing wrong with someone speaking up when some is harrased in a plane whether nigerian or not. he has a right to speak.shame on the almond tree who has brought shame to this honourable forum, i doubt the person is even a nigerian. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
well, if the girl is the is one you want to marry tommorow , its dangerous, if she really loved you there would not be anything to hideespeially as trivial as age, afterall it's just a number, if you really loved her, her age wouldn't bother you, but lying means tommorrow she could also lie again about some other thing that nmight be bad. maybe she is looking for somebody to just hold tight. it would advice ,Probe deeper they may be som other skeletonsin her 'big cupbord'. ![]() |
