hi mamas!!!

I got my b1/b2 visa for a cousin's wedding in 3 weeks. I told the VO i would be staying for 10 days. but as it is...ticket price na cutthroat.

So I will be staying 7 days instead of 10days. pls would this raise any issue at POE?

Lastly, I'm headed to Baltimore. So I booked Qatar airways straight to IAD. would probably take a cab to Baltimore. or should i just find a straight flight to Baltimore?

pls help with answers.
Your staying 7 days instead of 10 days shouldn't raise any issues, most likely you'll be stamped in for 6 months.
With regards to the flight issue,It all depends on you. I would advice you get a direct flight if the price difference is not too much,on the other hand,if it's much, you can just fly to IAD and take uber or lyft to Baltimore..

Hello house

Please I need advise. I and my wife intend to have our next baby in d U.S. we are yet to apply for visa.

My question is,should I include my other kids(2 kids) in d application? I want them to be there when the baby arrives, yet I don't want the VO to think that we want to elope ( a friend's similar experience informs my being skeptical)
Thanks
The issue here is your ties to home country. If you, wife and 2 children are applying (whole family i guess) what ties do you guys have that can convince the visa officer that you are not eloping to America? Put yourself in the vo's position. Do you and your wife have solid jobs or good investments in Nigeria that it would look foolish to abandon to go and start afresh in America?
If you stay back to act as tie and your wife and 2 kids apply, who will look after her and 3 children after birth?
These are issues you should consider.

Hello Mums and All Experienced Flyers, please a quick one.

I'm currently headed for the US on Tuesday.
Final Destination is Chicago, but I want to go in from NewYork.

My return ticket shows my Chicago back to Lagos leg... Do I Still need to purchase a NewYork to Chicago ticket from herehuh

'Cause I plan to do 1night in NewYork and also purchase my domestic leg to Chicago when I get to NewYork..(or even take a Greyhound bus for economic reasons)

Hope it won't be a Problem at POE?

Please Advice a first time traveller.
Ps: I'm going for Childbirth.
The poe issue could be explained away as you getting a cheap ticket was why you flew to Newyork instead of going direct to Chicago.
I usually advice people to buy their tickets like 2 weeks before journey in order to get a good deal, this applies to both air and bus tickets
Are you sure you want to go the bus route? Newyork to Chicago by road is at least 13hrs,so think am well o.

Shrek and fiona,

aabeg na you dey been answer me.
please I have done all my research and I chose Dr M at california. I spoke to someone at his office and she sent me a mail with the breakdown of Dr's fees and all the test I need to do before delivery. She also sent me a copy of fees for st Francis hospital.

I have made several calls to st Francis hospital, Centinela and Good Samaritan hospital in a bid to get a correspondence from them, all to no avail.

My question is, that breakdown which I received from a lady from Dr M's office, should I go ahead and present it at the embassy as the doctor' correspondence? And can I use the quote she sent me about st Francis fees which includea paeditrician and epidural charges as my burden of proof while going for interview or is there a special letter the doctor's supposed to write. Please help me before I make mistake at the embassy
It would be nice if you can get separate correspondence for both Dr and hospital, but in the absence of it,you can present the one sent to you by your Dr,that should take care of visa interview and poe. People here have done same and had no issues whatsoever with doing that. Goodluck

Hi All,

Please I need your help.

My DW and I got the visa and during our interview we declared our intention to have a baby in New York. After getting the visa we changed our mind to travel to Florida instead and I fear that this might be a cause for dispute at the POE.

Kindly advise on what I need to do to avoid disappointment at the POE.

Thanks in advance.
You can handle it this way,You can fly to Jfk and use your New York Dr & hospital correspondence and after you clear poe you take a local flight to Florida or you fly straight to Florida and if the issue comes up at poe you tell them that you changed your mind and decided to go to Florida instead of going to new York ,but in that case make sure you have Dr and hospital correspondence for Florida handy.

Please I need advise I had my baby in 2014,went for interview told them for visit to attend sis in law graduation as RN, was visibly pregnant About 6month,wasnt asked and I traveled at poe was asked and I told them after series of interrogation at BA was stamped six month into the USA d testimony was shared here in 2014, had my baby and paid all bills as advise on poe to ensure I have any reciept of payments which I have. On going for renewal via Dropbox was called for interview and the expired visa canceled without prejudice, asked to narrate my trip and I did, he asked delivery was not mentioned at interview with vo and he didn't give room for explanation just denied the visa. I tried again Feb 14 2017,and explain reason for denial on application based on the fact that I didn't disclose pregnancy at interview out of ignorance and wasn't asked except at poe and have paid all bills, the visa was denied again this time no story, ask question reason I want to travel but he said denied again like the last one. Pls advise I intend to reapply with family soon like early next year to visit and nothing else what are my chances?please advise a sister. Eagerly waiting.
How i sincerely wish you found this forum before your 1st application,it would have saved you a lot of heart ache, because here you find out that once you are pregnant and intend to have the baby in the US,you volunteer that info whether asked or not.
Will advice you to give it a rest for a while say a year or two before reapplying, who knows, you just might find favour.
If you go back to page 309 you will find the story of a woman (just2testify) that even lied outrightly during her visa interview, when she was asked if she was pregnant or not,but she found favour and her visa was renewed

I haven't used Egypt air before, but i remember the responses i got from here when i asked this same question.
I was told by people who have used them, that they are an ok airline and moreover they also provide hotel accommodation for long stopovers.

Hi Everyone,

Good evening. Please my DW and I have a challenging question to ask. We have weighed our options and we don't think it will be favorable for us to apply for a general B1 visiting visa, as we DO NOT have any family or friends that can give us substantial letter of invitation and proof of sustenance. So we are considering applying for a medical visa instead for my DW. Please we would like to know if anyone has had experience of applying for a medical visa and if it is acceptable for child birth and also what are the documents we would need to provide for that class of visa. Lastly, will applying for a medical visa do us any general good?
Best Regards,
Josh
You are in the right place. All the information you need from A-Z is here, all you have to do is read up.
You don't need to have anybody in the US for you to apply to go and give birth there, and yes it's medical visa she will apply for.

Hi Nairalanders,

Just to share a bit of my madam's experience at POE and delivery.

This was our second missionary journey. I must say that this forum has been very insightful.

We applied and got our visa as normal under the appropriate category. Bought her ticket and that of our daughter, though she felt the date I fixed her flight for was too early (I set her departure for 32nd week). On getting to Dallas CBP Officer tried to deny her access but he failed (all her documentations were intact, zero balance, accommodation receipts, doctor's communication, cash, accommodation booking, my letter of consent, copy of my Id card and employment stuffs, e.t.c). Finally he stamped her in for 6months smiley .

On getting to the extended accommodation after week 1, wifey wasn't comfy with the room because there was no sufficient space for my Daughter to play, so the search for a bigger accommodation service. She found one a 2 bedroom apartment (though not through airbnb) via asking around. She went to inspect it and took pictures for me to approve though it was twice our accommodation budget I agreed and She moved in. Did all her registrations at the hospital and also continued her search for birthing center (she started this before going) because she wanted water birth. She got one, registered and paid, then went for series of tests (some paid some were included in the bill). She was advised to get "Salus-Haus Floradix Iron ..." and eat lots of veg, reduce fruit intake. She followed all advises.

Just after her 3rd visit to birthing center she went to Walmart to buy more veg for the week, on getting to the house she went into labor (38th week). Only my daughter, herself and Jesus Christ in the whole building. She picked up the phone to call new friends made via the church who can take her to the hospital (she said my daughter [1+] was just crying mummy mummy), in less than 3 minutes her water broke only to find out that new baby was already wanting to arrive, so she dragged herself to the bathroom and turned on the shower while she wait for help and uber(she had already called uber ride) but in less than 10 minutes she had delivered the baby with Dr Jesus (no tear). Shortly after the new friend came in and they simply went to the birthing center for checks and the normal things there.
Mother and baby are doing fine, went back home in less than 6 hours wink .
Thanks.
This your testimony sweet my belle,no be small. Does that mean no need to pay delivery fees again, since she had the baby at home now,Abi?

Hello everyone!please o! A friend has an outstanding bill at the hosp she gave birth, she paid 3426$ instead of 3600 since last year, she intends paying up but the prob is ,if she will be allowed to at d POE,she said the hospital sent an email that the 75%discount as been reverted that she must pay up the 21k! she still have a valid visa dat expires in October and want to do a short trip of 2wks! Will she be let in? She also has d option of going to cancun in mexico den cross d boarder to the us and goto the hospital and see how to sort it out! She asked smone to pay when she left and the person didnt pay! God bless us all
I will advice your friend to call the hospital and negotiate with them and pay up her balance before attempting a US trip. Going the Cancun route for me is a bit risky o. She just might be lucky to get into the US if she tries a busy & lenient poe,but again she just might have been flagged

N'landers, I greet you all.
Does your 'host' have to be family or a close relative?
Or is it okay to mention that one is staying with a family friend? I checked airbnb. The cost of accomodation I got for Atl is not beans.
Your host can be anybody ( friend, close relative, distant relative etc) The important thing is be sure of their US status & have their details(address and phone number) at your finger tip

Please good people here, I sincerely need your candid advice..... MIL visa would expire by December, 2017. I would like to know if she can still travel on the visa next month(September) or she need to apply for renewal since the visa would expire in less than 6months? Our son was stamped in on his Blue passport for 30days(voa) I would like to know if he should over stayed the 30days without obtaining naija passport, will that pose any problem at the airport when he want to travel back to the States? Thanks to you all.

NB: our son just want to stay 40days before he return back to the States.
Your MIL is good to go,in as much as her visa has not expired when she is entering the Us,what matters the most is the number of days she is stamped in at poe.
As for your son,i will advice you get him a Naija passport as soon as you enter Naija,if he overstays his visa,he'll definitely have issues with immigration when leaving Naija. I'll sincerely advice you not to try it

I guess my previous comment was deleted . I'll rephrase.
I got just one email each from a doctor in Atl and another in Texas, stating their fees and hospital charges. Is this enough "correspondence" to show at the embassy?

Thank you, èveryone.
What you have will be sufficient,so far it was sent to you by the doctor's and it has their contact where it can be verified from them that the email truly originated from them if the need arises.

Your friends case is a peculiar one o,i haven't heard of that kind of arrangement before. Maybe someone else with this kind of experience can throw more light on it. But in the interim,Since the hospital didn't agree to a payment plan,I'm sure they did not give her any document where they wrote that she can go and payback soonest,so i guess a lot depends on her ability to convince the visa officer or cbp at poe that, that was what happened if the issue comes up. Again she should take with her evidence to prove that she has been paying. Good luck to her.

So tell me of what advantage is the Naira card? Why won't i just open a domiciliary account and fund it from aboki and travel with the dom account card.

Hello House...
Greetings to everyone.

I want to find out if anybody in the house has given Birth in the US and didn't finish paying but still traveled to us or vacation or other reasons. Because a friend of mine just gave birth in Maryland, she had some complications and the bill was very high, she has not finished paying her bills but she wants to travel in December to the US for vacation. Though she intend to off the bills gradually.
Kindly advice if you have experience.
Thank you
Your friend will be fine in as much as she adheres strictly to the plan without default.she should also travels with the agreement and evidence to show that she is adhering to the plan eg bank statements.
I have a sister and a close friend that are both on a payment plan and are complying strictly with the plan. One has successfully renewed her visa via drop box, while the other one was invited to come for interview when she applied for drop box renewal and was denied due to a lie she told during her 1st us visa application some 10yrs ago,so this lie later came back to bite her in the a** this year, (an unnecessary lie she told 10yrs ago and had forgotten all about) #saythetruthalways. Her visa refusal totally had nothing to do with her payment plan and by the way she's still faithful to the payment plan till date.

Sharing my experience at the Lagos embassy. I was denied Visa, I used Dr Ayoade Akere of J.I.L Medical Consultants in Chicago as my correspondence Dr. Though he is a Family physician and not an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. But he said he delivers babies too,so I felt he he is an all rounder, meanwhile his bill is higher than the Obgyn we exchanged mails with in Texas. Had to settle for Chicago cause I have a family frnd to stay with, who recommended him as well.
She was actually nice cause some VOs don't even tell you where you went wrong, they just refuse you. And I already have all my documents, budget sheet, Dr's letter etc thanks to this group, but she dint ask to see any document. Please has anyone use Dr Akere in Chicago what do you think about him and what do you suggest I dohuh
You almost got the visa, but the Dr you used kobalised you. I new Dr Akere was not an obgyn, but dint know he has been flagged at both poe & embassy.
Get a new Dr and hospital correspondence and reapply sharply. All the best.

Sir during the change of aircraft/airline in France airport, did you have to pick up your luggage yourself in France to join Delta airline or your luggage where transfer by the airline to Delta.
In answering your question i would give you two personal experience scenarios.
Once i was going to Chicago via Delta Airlines and the ticket was routed Lagos - Atlanta - Chicago and i checked in my bags at lagos straight to Chicago,so when i got to Atlanta i just cleared Customs and dint bother with my bag just went straight to board the 2nd leg of the flight to Chicago and viola! My bags were in Chicago.
On another Trip via same Delta Airlines, this time Lagos - Atlanta - Newyork and i checked in my bag at lagos airport straight to Newyork, just like the 1st time and when we got to Atlanta something just told me to go check baggage claim if they had mistakenly droppedr my luggage and yours sincerely, they had dropped my bags in Atlanta,so i had to collect them and personally check them in for the 2nd leg of the trip to Newyork
So,to avoid stories that touch,i would advice you just check when you get to Paris for your own peace of mind..

I think it's basically how you answer questions at POE not that some re more lenient than others. My wife n daughter went thru Houston and they weren't delayed for one minute. They took along 9k or there about. They want physical cash to cover your hospital bill plus living expenses as well, couple with the fact that husby is in Naija to send more money.
I have been to the US a couple of times and have used several poe and I beg to differ, some poe are just plain outright nasty eg Chicago, that's the only poe i have heard that they even ask you for hospital and doctors receipt on your way out of the US,whats their intention? Them was seize pikin or they want to prevent you from living the US with your baby? if you don't have receipt to show.
