Hello anonymous Mum and everyone, I'm a first time US Mum to be, I completed my Visa application already and my passport pic that was uploaded (At this point I might as well say tried to upload) did not show up on the confirmation page however my Hubby's own did. My friend's sister that helped my husband and I with our application said I could go ahead for the interview with the hard copy passport. Going by your post now. Please will this be a problem?

No,it's not compulsory for you to know someone over there,if you take out time to read this thread thoroughly you will find out that a lot of people did as you are about to do. Just perfect your accommodation plans and have evidence eg hotel reservation printout or receipt

Renewal should be by drop box except your visa expired like 2 years ago,then in that case,you might need to go for interview. Anyways ,after submiting and you're about to book appointment for interview,you'll then find out if you are qualified for drop box

"Nothing ventured,nothing gained" that's my philosophy. I'll advice you to read this thread like you are writing exam on it and reapply, come clean this time around. You should fill your saloon business as your job since it gives you more money. You can go with both you and your husband's statement,your husband being your sponsor and yours just being an addition,in that case the funds in both account must be able to cover your budget.Your husband and your business can act as your tie to home country. Be truthful and be prepared to explain if asked about about husband's name in your last application.

Both of you will apply for B1/B2. You will narrow yours down to tourism visa,while your wife will narrow hers down to medical,its all there.It's when she goes for interview that she would now tell them the type of medical she is applying for,which is to go and give birth. Don't make the mistake of applying for tourism for the both of you o.

No point applying for a medical visa for a future intention. Apply for visiting visa and let them know you intend to use it for childbirth in future. Don't wait for them to ask you. Also, because you have negative immigration history, would advise you apply alone and get yourself cleared. However, since your child was with you on the earlier trip, you may as well apply together, as I assume that visa was cancelled along with yours.

Type budget sheet on the search space above and limit it to travel section,you'll find a sample of budget the sheet. No you have to do yours,according to your budget
If your hubby is your sponsor,then you have to go with his bank statement.

Cs bill would definitely be higher than vd. You can use vd bill for your budget sheet,but bear in mind that you are suppose to have more funds in your account than your budget,in case of (God forbid) emergencies.

@babatwi and @Ramj, thanks for the response. why I intend for us to apply together is that introduction letter from my office carries more weight and if she's applying alone it will be difficult for her because she has no travel history, another thing is that must the fund all be in my account before we apply or I just need to have it by the time she's traveling?

Funds should be in your account as at when applying,cause you will have to go to the embassy with 6months bank statement,if you are acting as the sponsor,if not it can be in her account. But note that you should be able to explain any huge deposit into the account.

1) Travel history helps,but people with virgin passports have gotten visas too.
2) Yes,Introductory letters from your employers will help
3) CAPITAL NO, she shouldn't apply for a tourist visa,she should declare her intentions and apply for a medical visa, while you (husband)should apply for a tourist visa.
4) It's not necessary
5) No it will not affect you,you can both apply now,while you join her later.
6) Your budget will determine what your final expenses will be,search for budget sheet on the search space on top of this page,it will give you an idea.Also read up.
7) It depends on you and your service providers,some demand and accept upfront payments,while others don't.
Agent is a No No for me,I'll advice you read up here,it's not a complicated process,you can do it yourself. Do it yourself success rate is very high,in short ,this is a do it yourself forum.

What if I ain't travelling with cash for childbirth? Can I just tell them at port of entry that my card is loaded? Do they check? Òr tell them my husband will be joining me?

The advantage of travelling with cash is that it saves you telling plenty story and assures the cbp officer right there that you can pay your bills.
I have read here of people that travelled with cash of $100 and told cbp officer that they had cash in their account and they were allowed in, i have also read here too of people that travelled with $4,000 and they told cbp officer that they had the balance in their account and and the cbp officer gave the person their wifi password and told her to log into her bank online and pull up her account details so that he could verify if she had enough to cover the cost of child birth. I have also read on this thread of someone that was sent back at poe for lack of funds and was not given the opportunity to pull up her account details.
So the decision is yours.

Good morning house, thank God for this thread. Kudos to everyone who's kept it going. I was here 2 years ago and received a lot of guidance on my 'missionary' journey and I'm happy I was able to give back afterwards.

I'd like to know if anyone in the house has ever had to or knows anyone who had to attend a 'follow up' interview after a drop box application and how it went i.e docs required etc. It's my first renewal after I had my baby in 2015 and I didn't overstay or owe. I have my zero balance statements for all the major payments and I have called the 2 providers whose zero balance statements I do not yet have. They have agreed to send it to the US address where I stayed. I reckon I'll also need employment docs and statements again, which I'm putting together. I'd appreciate a guide on this.

While I was applying for the renewal in early August (visa expires Sept 22nd), the intention was to visit in November and write my CFA exams but a week+ later, I found out I am pregnant-still getting over the news, but I thank God who is perfect in his ways.

Although the pregnancy is still early, I would like to mention it during the follow up interview even though giving birth in the US would be an option B for me (I'm considering another country because of earlier plans for school). Would this pose an issue, given that I didn't mention it (I was not aware) at the time I completed my ds-160 form?

Would appreciate your thoughts, comments or experience sharing on this.

I would like to ask you some questions before i comment.
Was the visa you are renewing (.i.e. your last visa) a medical visa? If not,did you use it for the purpose for which it was issued before using it for birthing?
If the answer to both questions is yes,then again it might just be a routine thing or their reason for inviting you could be as a result of something totally different from anything you are thinking. I shared here some weeks ago of how someone very close to me applied for a drop box renewal after coming back from a birthing trip and was invited for an interview and we all thought the invitation was in connection to her giving birth in the US,but alas! the issue was not even mentioned,it all had to do with an unnecessary lie she told on her 1st us visa interview 10yrs ago that she had forgotten all about that came back to bite her in the a**, of cause her visa was denied .
You are already on the right track preparation wise,just prepare as if you are going for a fresh interview with all the burden of proof,and in addition don't forget to take all your receipts and zero balance. Just be open with the visa officer and tell him the way it is,that the purpose of the trip is for you to go and write your cfa exams,but you just discovered that you are pregnant and that you just might have the baby there too,but you haven't decided yet,so that he'll put is down in your record in case you decide in future to go that route,it will be on record for all to see. Thanks a lot, but booking a hotel in LA for 10 weeks for child birth coupled with we that are also accompanying her on the trip does not look like a good/solid arrangement for accomodation, in my opinion.

Still looking out for Accomodation arrangement but doubt if I can conclude it this week b4 I submit her application.

The suggestion was just for you to have a convincing address for her to use for the visa application and also have an accommodation print out to show for visa interview,you can cancel it anytime after you have made a more permanent arrangement

I agree with almost everything that was said above,the only thing i have issues with is the using of Doctors contact as your mums contact in the US,because as it is,your mum does not have any dealings with the Dr. I would advice you to book a hotel accommodation for her on booking.com and use the hotel address for her contact in the US. You can do this by using your debit card and chose the option of payment when you get there,note that nothing would be deducated from your card untill you get there,you can also cancel a day before the actual date,but if peradventure you don't show up and also fail to cancel ,then money for one night's accommodation would be deducted from your card. I think this is a neater arrangement .

I think the first step is to chose a location where you want to have this baby and start researching on it. You can start by typing the location on the search space above and further narrow it down to travel section and see if you can find people that have had their babies in that town or city and read their experiences,get hospital names,doctors names and Google and send pm's for their contacts and start sending them mails for cost of delivery. You can also research outside this forum by asking Google. Eg Obstetricians and Gyneologists in Houston. All the best.

After I picked up my passport with my visa on it. I couldn't make it for the conference which was supposed to be in August. So I decided to travel in February 2015. Had little issues at the poe but was later allowed to pass. Last year 2016 May . Renewed my usa visa tru drop box. And was given 2 years visa. This year 2017. AV decided to use the visa for my child birth My fear is that will I have issues at Poe cous I dint tell them am pregnant at my renewal. But I was truely not pregnant last year. I think you should just send the notification of intent letter to fulfill all righteousness even though you weren't pregnant when you did dropbox. Just go fully prepared with all the necessary documents and enough cash to show at poe and you'll be good.

From what i read here,I think the issue of Tarrant county I'd card is peculiar to Jps hospital and not the whole of Dallas area,and you can get this card via your host

I would sincerely advice you to read this thread very well and take notes as you read,all the info you need is right here. I stand corrected but the only areas i suspect you might have a problem is with your sponsor since you guys are not married,how do you convince the visa officer that he is not just anybody but your partner with whom you are having a baby. I think it would be neater if your partner can deposit the funds in piecemeal into your account over a period of time.
More experienced people should pls throw more light on this pls.

I don't think there is any biggie here,you travel together and appear at poe as 2 different people and if peradventure you are asked if you are travelling together,you tell them yes and if you are asked to explain the relationship,you tell them as it is. Pls don't forget to travel with all relevant documents to buttress your point eg marriage certificate,divorce papers etc. I know of someone that had a similar experience (not with cbp but with the dept of state when she applied for her baby's passport )and she was asked for documents to support her claim.

Gist on the rest of my twin missionary journey, I was very lucky to get a woman at the airport to add one of my twins to her ticket and she helped me to carry them althru the journey. I called Qatar airways to change my ticket fro 4thsept to 25th aug in us but they said it will cost me 310 dollars, my hubby went to their office in Lagos and changed it with less than 50k. The ideal thing to do is fill the form in the presence of the notary public with all the necessary details and he'll notarise the form. But,that being said,some people still find a way around it and leave date of birth blank. I doubt if the US embassy will notarise one for you if you don't fill in the date of birth.Find out what obtains in the state you're going to,if they accept just any notary public or it must be the US embassy
With regards to the correspondence,it is absolutely necessary to have one. I doubt if cbp will allow you into the US for birthing if you are asked and you can't produce one.

My wify is 19wks gone now, av gotten my hospital & doc correspondence.. am set to apply for b2 visa for her but av some little issues i need to be clear about.
(1) My wify passport still av her father's name as surname, she av travel history. Now she will be applying alone though & am wondry if dat will not b an issue @ d V.O since is not my surname @ her passport or she should get a new passport on my surname.
(2) I want to wait as part of home ties & after she gets her visa den travel to US, pay for hospital & doc fee.. will luv to apply b4 her delivery date...If am applying should i apply for "b2 visa or as tourist visa"

Your wife can still apply with her old passport,but she should go with supporting documents to show that she's married,a lot of people have done so here and gotten their visas.
Apply for a tourist visa after she's a gone and tell them you want to go and witnesses the birth of your child?
