Pls dont be offended, i thought i read in this forum that the fathers consent letter for the US passport will be notarised at the US embassy in Nig after the birth of the baby & not just at any notary public?
@ Austine2020
@ anonymous
Yes someone mentioned it on this forum that her state requires the consent form to be notarised at the us embassy ,while some other states accept notarised forms from any notary public. So find out what is acceptable in the state you are going to.
Pls mamas that have gotten their babies us passport should advice us if the consent form must be notarised by a notary public in the us embassy before it can be used or not

There is absolutely no port in Cleveland. Ohio River is not a port. Ohio is in not a coastal state. Ports are only located where there is Atlantic Ocean.

May I know the name of the port you know in Ohio?

$600 is non negotiable.

Thanks babatwi,

The consent letter is the one for the American passport which can also be used at the POE.

Kindly respond pls and also send a format if u have
@ belfy
There is a consent form for this purpose on the us govt passport website . Here is the link: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/under-16.html. or you can google " us passport application for a minor under 16 "the form is called DS-3053. Print it out and have your husband fill it in front of a notary public and have the notary public notarise it. This was what i did before i left 9ja for Dalla,so that i can use it when applying for my baby's Us passport. I dint have or use any consent letter at poe . Pm me if you have any dififculty downloading the form ,so that i can email it to you

Please am depending on ur response to make them my choice.

@finechikala
A lot of people on this site have used dresparati and they have wonderful testimonies. The only issue people seem to have with them is that some VO at the embassy consider them as agents so they dont regard their letters, but since you are already in the us,this shouldnt matter to you.

@Babatwi...

what if one has not discovered the pregnancy then? got my visa in October for the purpose of vacation in December. although hubby and I have always been nursing the idea of having our baby in the USA. We didn't even have a serious questioning at the VO's because we had one 3 months J-visa that was given to us based on a training hubby went for in 2013 and I only spent 2 weeks in the states. During the questioning, I think the VO noticed number of years of marriage with no kids and asked if I was going to seek medical assistance which I answered no. We were given the visa

Discovered shortly after that i am preggy and a couple of weeks gone (meanwhile we have been trying for a child for 3 years now). After I discovered I mentioned to a friend who said I can send them a mail to inform them.

But am kinda confused now since you mentioned that is for pple that were not really preggy as at day of interview.

Would appreciate if you can shed more light as I will not want to do something that will thwart future renewal opportunities although we already cancelled our December vacation so we could go for childbirth. Your response will be appreciated.
As has been mentioned above, there are no fast rules with such letters to the embassy. What i was trying to discourage was people telling lies at their interview section and writting the letter as an easy way out. I guess you can write the letter to them since your own case is diffrent. Most of us on this thread just offer advice based on experiece not as authority in these matter and we stand to be corrected
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Babatwi: 8:12pm On Dec 24, 2014
The guru (justwise) has said it as it is. Someone had a similar problem sometime ago on this thread and i took time out to research this. Your wife is within her rights to travel,it is the CBP officer at POE that has the right to determine how long she will be in the us and by the grace of God she will be stamped in for 6months.
Dont entertain any fear

Triax:
Hi everybody. I have been a silent follower of this thread for a while now and must say I have benefited immensely as a result. This thread should be officially labeled the “Holy Grail” for all US bound expecting parents. The amount of information is simply mind boggling.

It will be sinful for me to ask my question without first saluting all the active members of this forum who have contributed to this thread either by sharing their personal experiences (VO, POE, airline, hospital etc), offered advice and guidance to the confused (like yours truly), shared contacts details of critical resources (doctors, hospitals) etc. I doff my hat to you all!!

That said, I need you advice on a dicey matter. My wife was granted a 2 year B1/B2 visa in April 2013 on the basis that she was accompanying me for a business trip. During her interview, the VO asked if she was pregnant and she replied that she wasn't which was true. We traveled as planned in July last year and spent 3 weeks. She eventually got pregnant in August and is due mid May 2015. She plans to travel for childbirth towards the end of March. Her visa will be expiring on the 14th of April 2015 (about 3 wks after her arrival).

My question is this, should she?
A. Travel using her current visa.
B. Renew her visa before traveling

According to the information on the UStraveldocs website, she should be able to travel with her current visa though it will be expiring shortly afterwards. However, I am a bit nervous about this because I fear a heartless CBP officer might capitalize on this as a basis to refuse her entry.

On the other hand, I am skeptical about renewing her visa before she travels as I do not want to rock the boat. Even though the probability of a denial is low, there is always a possibility it might happen. Some members have experienced this before and shared on this forum

I seriously need to know your opinions/advice on our dilemma. Please forgive my long post. God bless

There is a port in Cleveland, Ohio, maybe because its not as big as Baltimore you guys dont ship from there. Is your price of $600 negotiable? cause its a bit on the high side for a journey of less than 6hrs

pls note that it is only advisable to send this type of letter if you got your visa before you got pregnant and not that you were pregnant when you went for the interview and lied about it
These letters dont have a fixed format, all the same, here is a sample

Hello House, landed in Dallas safely via Emirate after a one day layover in Dubai,i arranged it that way so that i can have a proper rest in Dubai before the second leg to Dallas.
As it is with our custom here, this is My POE experience:
Cbp:Hello
Me: Hello,how are you
Cbp: What are you here for
Me: vacation and to have my baby
Cbp: Smilles, Is that what you are using the money you decleared for ( i had decleared $9,900)
Me: That and also some other money i have deposited in my Bank Of America account
Cbp: Where is your husband
Me: He is in Nigeria but will be joining me before the baby arrives.
Cbp:: How long do you intend to stay
Me: 4 months
Na so she take stamp me for 6months o. The whole exercise did not take 3mins. She did not even ask for a single documment, meanwhile if you see me and the heavy file filled with burden of proof wey i carry, you go think say i be clerk for town council.lol. I thought she would even ask what was in the file, but alas! She dint even look at it. Not only that, all the grounded egusi, crayfish, ogbono and deboned dry fish i carried were not even checked. I thak God for the favour o.
Will start looking for hospitals and doctors tomorrow.

Good day House! Please which one is "burden of Proof "? Is it also necessary for a hubby to write consent letter if he is not flying with the wife at the same time?
"Burden of proof' are the documents you take along for your visa interview and when traveling. It is to support your visa application and to convince the custom and boarder countrol officers at point of entry (POE) that your intentions are what you say they are and to also show that you have made adequate preperations and arrangement
Yes the consent letter from your husband is neccessary when applying for the new born babys american passport..
i will advice you to try and read as much as you can of this thread,it will educate you a great deal.. Its importance cant be over emphasised.

I have been a silent reader & have learnt a lot from dis wonderful forum which I used for my visa application. I & my family were interviewed yesterday 18th dec but were denied based on section 214b( dt applicant does not have a strong tier) d VO says we did not qualify, he didnt even check my doctor correspondence nor statement of acct. He also aked if I have anybody in usa and I stated NO, dt I wud rent an apartment, I dont know if that is d reason I was denied. I intend reapplying but I'll go to abuja. Dis VO's can be so annoying afta all d stress & preparations.
I think you should stick to your original story when reapplying, because they would have your original application on record moreover i dont think that your denial had anything to do with you having a relative in America or not. I think the issue there was " NO STR0NG TIES" . I also think you shouldd re-apply to Abuja this time around and do it without your husband,so that they would know you have a husband to come back to. I wish you all the best as you try again.

i tired contacting the Del sol Medical centre to get a letter from a physician there and they keep refering me back to Doctores Para ti. any ideas how else i can go about it?? if i got to Health grade and get a physician wount the person charge me differently? and if so wnt the physician want me to use the hospital he is domiciled? how i go do am?
@ SAkale

Must it be Del sol medical centre or doctoresparati letter? Even after they have told you that the embassy people MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT accept their letter. I had told you on an earlier post, and i will tell you again . Get in touch with another doctor e.g. Dr Fagbohun or some other doctor that accepts email appointment booking, send them an email that you want to come to the us to give birth, they will reply you with an email telling you that they are willing to accept you and they will also attach the breakdown of their bills on the email, all this is free o,you no go pay any kobo.,most doctors will not charge you for this. You can use this as burden of proof for your visa application and at POE. Once you enter America ,you can then go the El paso route or even decide to have your baby in Alaska,na u sabi,no body will stress you on that, the koko is to enter yakee 1st. I hope i have answered your question.
I can give you like two doctors in Texas that would respond to your email , send me a pm if you need it or search this thread,i know ppl have had this same problem, even me too had the same issue, that is why i can advice you properlly.
