eboniee024: Hello every one I av an interview at the embassy on September (first week) and the purpose of my travelling is to attend a conference in US(first week in october) but am pregnant (4 months presently). Am a lecturer in a government university here in Nigeria. My question is do I need to hide the fact that am pregnant or how do I go about it? pls I need advice No need to hide your pregnancy these days when applying for visa, those days are far gone. These days,we've learnt here that it's not a crime to give birth in the US once you can afford it,though you dint mention that you would like to birth there. If that is your plan, then read this forum very well, you'll get all you need for the trip here, just read and gain knowledge. What ever your intentions, whether to go for conference or to go and give birth, tell the truth. |

Richards08: The painful thing is that they didn't allow her rest, they were not even concerned about her pregnancy, the stress she would have gone through on such a long flight time. It's all good, I bless God my baby is still very okay You wife is a superhuman o. Some people have gone through less stress and went into premature labour. I thank God on you guys behalf. I'm with you in prayers that the visa comes out soon. |

She went with no document apart from 6k dollars, her credit card of 4k dollars, and Form A - which is used to make dollar payments. Thanks shawlar Na wah o! I haven't heard of this kind of something in a long time o. After reading your 1st post i just assumed she was owing money from a previous birthing trip. What the F. Ijesco: I have used travelstart to US and dubai without issue. I used them to book an air France flight to usa for a colleague about 2 weeks ago and he travelled without issue. I used them in booking an airfrance flight for my trip to usa this weekend and was notified of some minor changes in the itinerary. Overall, the experience has been ok but I usually go to www.checkmytrip.com to confirm my bookings and keep abreast of any change in itinerary. I think the issues people raised with travelstart & wakanow is not with their credibility,( i myself have used wakanow a couple of times to the US and they were ok) I think what she is concerned with is how easy & affordable is it to change the return date in case baby shows up early or late, and how easy & affordable is it to add baby to mothers ticket Without breaking the bank. I think these are the concerns. Pls anyone that has bought those really cheap tickets for birthing trips should help with these concerns, because at times, the issues has to do with the class of tickets we get for those deals |

Richards08: Hello house, My wife attended usa interview last week Thurs, 10 Aug 2017, she's issued d visa and told to come after 3 working days, when she got to the pick up centre, she was told that her application is under Administrative Processing. We did birth visa for her. Altho, she was issued visa around June but was deported at the Port of Entry on d ground that she hasnt paid d hospital bills, when she got to naija, we paid all d bills and reapplied. The interview was successful but the pick up is now the issue. Pls any Visa Officer around, do you think that my wife will still meet up the appointment? Besides, she's heavily pregnant and has just a few months left. How long do u think the AP would take? How can we hasten up their AP? As we speak, her flight ticket has been bought against 17 Aug.
Thanks brothers Administrative process can be a bit tricky,in the sense that it can be under AP and it will be ready for pick up the next day. The whole waiting period between interview and collection for all the people i know ( me included) has not been more than a week.I will advice you push her departure date backwards. Sadly i don't think you guys can do anything to hasten it up. When is she due? Hope you've checked airline policy for carrying pregnant women. I stand corrected, but i don't think think missing doctors appointment is such a big deal,it can always be rescheduled. |

Nwebele: I appreciate your prompt response, dear. My husband has Resident permit here that covers my stay without work or other benefits. I just rnewed my daughter's passport from here and I asked the Officer who took the oath if i can apply from here and she said sure.
I overstayed because my baby came way past my due date. All plea to get them perform Elective CS on me fell o deaf ears. My baby came at 42 weeks while i requested for CS at 37 weeks. Should I give this as a reason? Dont know why i feel this sudden anxiety. The only issue i see with your application was the overstay. Just tell the visa officer the trutht, it pays to always be truthful .moreover they are likely to suspect that it was because of your baby that you overstayed anyways. Forget letter of invitation and just apply for medical visa straight. Read this thread, the knowledge you will gain here is immeasurable. |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Babatwi: 11:54am On Aug 16, 2017 |
shrekandfiona: The only issue i see here is your 1month overstay. If you have good explanation for that then you're good to go.
You were given a visa for vacation, you went for your vacation 1st b4 going for childbirth. Not an issue.
You have relocated and you're now a stay at home mum. Not an issue. However, if you have your resident permit / stronger ties at your present place then apply from there no need to come to naija to apply.
You have your zero balance and receipts. Good. Have them handy.
For this trip, pls no need to state vacation. State childbirth and go when you are almost due. Have all your correspondence handy and apply.
Canada or any other country's rejection have no effect on US visa.
Just have convincing and honest reason why you overstayed on your last trip and hope for the best.
Cheers @Mwebele Well said @ the above, best advice so far, nothing to add. Shine your eye this time around, child birth shouldn't cost that much if you do your home work right. All the best. |

GucciOluwa: Good morning house. Please has anyone booked their flight through travelstart before? Did you encounter any challenge (esp as regards date change)? I called airfrance and also checked their site, tickets to Minneapolis are 800k plus but on travelstart and wakanow it's a little above 500k. I booked my flight months ago to fly with Turkish airlines but I intend to leave earlier and the present fare difference is over 300k so I want to cancel and book airfrance. Kindly respond. Have a fruitful day. Pls note that there are some class of tickets (those ridiculously cheap ones) that they would ask for an arm & a leg if you try to change dates and add baby, the money they will ask you to bring self, can almost buy you a new return ticket. I have read on this forum were people that bought tickets from wakanow were able to change their dates and add baby without much hassle ,i have also read were some found it very expensive to change dates,so what i would advice you to do is either call them or go to their office and tell them your concerns and make your decision after speaking with them. |

baldman: Thanks so much Babatwi,
We have both been to dubai and I should be going to London in few weeks. I understand it will cost on the average about $10-12k for the trip. I am quite concerned about having immediate family in the US, how much of a disadvantage is this? As you said, nothing ventured, nothing gained, but I really have to be sure I stand a chance at all before putting in my N120k ( Visa for 2). I think you stand a good chance. Since your folks are in the US,i would advice that emphasis should be placed on your ties to home country. Package your application in such a way that you highlight your ties to Nigeria ,so that it doesn't seem as if you guys are planning to run away since you already have family there. |

However, Holy Cross hospital has sent me registration forms, delivery cost and all via email but i do not intend to use their services, my question is can i use the Holy cross correspondence for POE, and if yes, does this mean its not necessary to make deposits before arriving?? Yes,you can use their correspondence for poe,and yes again,it's not compulsory to make a deposit before travelling. Just have enough money to cover your expenses or evidence to show that you can pay your bills. |

iphiechuks: Good day diranseun,
VO said something about your issue. It will save you alot of hurt if you go to the first page and read it up yourself cos the moderator pushed it to the first page. There is no point letting pple do mathematics on top of your matter, since this is your first issue after 5 years of marriage, it is natural that pills might distort your wife's normal circle, even the VOs are not this judgemental but as you know, nobody will determine your outcome in the end except the responsible officers. We are all here to say our bit.
In summary, chose btw this two options the one that your risk appetite can carry as contained on the VO's input.
Option 1, get yourself equiped with all documentations for giving birth eg, doc correspondences, plenty cash and convincing power at POE and travel.
Option 2, Fill anther form, schedule another interview and explain yourself better to the VO still equip with all documentations including budget sheet and above all, please put God first. Congrats. Gbam! Well said, you hit the nail on the head. It couldn't have been said better. |

Below is what transpired between yours truly and the VO Nice to read this " in the spirit of giving back" haven't read much of these lately Pls people should endeavor to write their visa interviews and poe transcripts, that's one of the ways people can learn from us and we will also be moving the thread forward.Let's not be tired of doing this. SuperDad: In my humble opinion, it's a bit of a dicey and personalized issue. Dicey and personalized in that circumcision, being procedural removal of the male foreskin, has different methods (being a procedure)...which determines the end appearance. This appearance, however may not be exactly what you may have pictured because 'end-appearance-preferences' are somewhat culturally influenced. So my advice is ensure the "outcome" looks like what you have in mind by getting info from those who've had their sons circumcised by the intending physician... Or simply do it here in Naija where the norm you likely have in mind is prevalent. Redo circumcisions aren't cute. I agree with you 100%,before them go go give person pikin 'corner kick prick' God forbid! |

Gbengaultimate: My wife got her B1/B2 visa approved last week with the intention of giving birth in the United State. I have some series of questions that i will like the house to help with; 1. Is it advisable to apply for my visa now or wait till she arrives at the state before applying? 2. What is the percentage that the visa will be granted? 3. At how many months is it advisable she flies? 4. Like how much cash is it advisable to hold for the POE? 5. Her travel date on DS160 is first week in September but she's willing to travel last week in September, will there be any issue with that? PLEASE ADVISE..... Let me try and attempt to answer your questions, but pls bear in mind that there are no hard and fast rules to it. 1. You can apply for your visa any time in as much as your wife got a medical visa i.e. she told them during her interview that she is travelling to give birth. If she didn't ,then wait till after she has gone b4 applying o. 2. I see no reason why you shouldn't be granted the visa if your intentions are right and you have all the necessary documents to back up your application. 3.What airline is she flying, check the airline policy for flying pregnant women. I think 6-8 wks to edd is ideal.she shouldn't push it too close to her edd, cause we have heard of people going into labour in flight 4. I would advice she holds enough cash depending on what her budget is,but if she can't go with enough cash, let her go with some cash and her bank cards with printout of statements of account handy to show that the funds she has in the account can take care of her expenses, just incase they ask for it. 5. She can getaway with traveling in late September as against 1st week in September. It's not a bigie. |

abujaniv: Hello Unfelt -
Assuming your visa has not expired, you may attempt to use it to give birth in the US. However, be aware that Customs and Border Protection, who interviews travelers at ports of entry, has refused entry to some mothers in your situation because the notes taken by the VO do not discuss the pregnancy and CBP thinks that you were lying about your intended purpose of travel. I would recommend that you apply for a new visa so that it can be documented throughout the file. This minimizes the chances that you fly all the way to America only to be turned away at the airport. Gbam! No more,no less. You have all heard it from the horses mouth. Finito, shikena, lobatan. All you ' i was not pregnant when i applied for the visa' or ' i dint know i was pregnant when i applied for the visa' una don hear ? |
