The Duties of Brotherhood in Islam

Know that the contract of brotherhood is a bond between two persons, like the contract of marriage between two spouses. For just as marriage give rise to certain duties which must be fulfilled when it is entered into so does the contract of brotherhood confer upon your brother a certain right touching your property, your person, your tongue and your heart – by way of forgiveness, prayer, sincerity loyalty relief and considerateness.

In all, this comprises eight duties which will be taken one after the other.

1. The first duty is the material one.

God’s Messenger (saw) said:

Two brothers are likened to a pair of hands, one of which washes the other.

He chose the simile of the two hands, rather than the hand and the foot, because the pair are of mutual assistance towards a single aim. So it is with two brothers; their brotherhood is only complete when they are comrades in a single enterprise. In a sense the two are like one person. This entails a common participation in good fortune and bad, a partnership in the future as in the present moment, an abandonment of possessiveness and selfishness. In thus sharing one’s property with one’s brother there are three degrees:

The lowest degree is where you place your brother on the same footing as your slave or your servant, attending to his need from your surplus. Some need befalls him when you have more than you require to satisfy your own, so give spontaneous, not obliging him to ask. To oblige him to ask is the ultimate shortcoming in brotherly duty.

At the second degree, you place your brother on the same footing as yourself. You are content to have him as partner in your property and to treat him like yourself, to the point of letting him share it equally.

At the third degree, the highest of all, you prefer your brother to yourself and set his need before your own. This is the degree of the faithful and the final stage for those united in spiritual love.

Self- sacrifice is one of the fruits of this degree. Tradition tells how a sufi fraternity was slanderously misrepresented to one of the Caliphs, who ordered their execution. Now one of their number was Abu’l Husayn al-Nuri, who ran forward to the executioner so that he might be the first to be put to death. Asked why, he replied: “I wish that my brothers rather than I should have that moment to live.

This, to cut a long story short, was the cause all of their lives being saved.

If you do not find yourself at any of these stages in relation to your brother, then you must realize that the contract of brotherhood is not yet concluded in the Inner. All that lies between you is a formal connection, lacking real force in reason or religion.

Each time two people are in company together, the dearer to God is he who is kinder to his comparison.

Meaning? Talk is cheap. I'll love to see more Mukinas openly discourage Islamic violence in Naija. Desecration or no desecration. We have a justice system, even if not perfect.
Thank you sir. Your wish has been granted. We are already working on that. Lots of awareness and enlightenment programmes are now being put in place e.g, seminars, coming together of Islamic organisations, lectures, etc in order to differentiate between Islam and Terrorism or rather Violence.

Nne. For where? No way for your brother, unless he reverts to Islam and not the kind of reversion you posted sometime about a man that reverted to Islam in order for him to gain wordly position. You even posted a pics of the man snapping some ladies.

We will examine your brother (provided you have) and verify that he's not after gaining one thing or the other, then we will certify the marriage ok.

@Nella,

Thanks for the post.

To your question:

I have never been bored and will never be bored watching football and even watching my favourites.

I derive excitement watching the young gunners trample upon the mighty Liverpool, Man U. and Chelsea.

Also, the likes of Henry called Igwe, Van Parsie, Adebayor, Rosicky, Hleb, Toure, Eboue, Calamity Senderos, Theo Walcott, Gilberto, Fabregas, Gallas, Denilson etc will surely make you stay glued to your screen with their brand of football.

If you have been watching teams like chelsea, liverpool etc, you will definitely be bored because they have no pattern of play but if you watch Arsenal play, you will never feel like leaving your screen because Arsenal play the most attractive football in Europe.

Hey, thank God you are from the same country with big names like Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Deco etc, they sure are very great ballers and I love their style of play.

If you are becomig bore as a result of watching football, I wonder what you will be telling people that are very bored at watching you play because you never encouraged them to be watching football.

Take care

Once a gunner will always be.

Gunner for life. We will always gun 'em down.

Bye and stay cool

2. Khuruuj-d-Dajjal (Appearance of the Anti Christ)

His emergence will disrupt the tranquil era of the Mahdi. He is a youthful man from the progeny of Adam. He is quaint of the right eye (which is like a swollen grape) and floating of the left eye not going into the socket. He eats and drinks as human being. The prophet (saw) delivered a sermon one day that “ever since Allah has created the progeny of Adam, there had never occurred a greater trial than that of Dajjal. Allah has not sent Prophets except that they warned their nations abut him. I am the last of all prophets and you are the last Ummah, and he is going to appear in your time. He will emerge from the road between Syria and Iraq on a white ass. He will traverse all lands in forty days; one day will be like one year; another like a month, another like one week and the rest like the worldly days”. On hearing this, the companion asked, “Messenger of Allah, on this day which will be like one year, will it be suffice for us to pray the five prayers in one day? He answered: “No, you should make an estimate of the passage of time”.

His speed of movement will be like a cloud, which is being driven by the wind. The letters KFR will be written between his quaint and floating eyes which every lettered or unlettered believer will be able to read.

Seventy thousand jews of Isfahan who will be clad in robes of satin would follow him. There will be no city which Dajjal will not tranple under his feet except Makkah and Medinah. Angels will stand in rows guarding all the domes of these cities. He will arrive at Sabakah and Madinah will be shaken three times, whereby Allah will expel from it every disbeliever and hypocrite.

He will arrive among a people and will call them to his obedience and they will respond and believe in him. He will command the sky and I will send down rain on the people. He will command the earth; it will produce pasture for them.  Their cattle will come back to them in the evening with high humps and full udders. Then, he will arrive among a people and will call them to his obedience but they will reject his call and he will turn away from them. They will be afflicted with drought and famine and will become destitute. He will pass through desert places and will call on them to put forth their treasures and their treasures will follow him like bees. He will then call a man in the glow of the youth and will strike him with his sword and cut him into two pieces, which will be separated from each other like the length of an arrow. He will then call him and he will obey him.

He shall possess water and fire. That which people see as fire will be cool and sweet water. The prophet (saw) then said, “He who from amongst you encounters him should jump into that which he sees a fire for that will be sweet and wholesome. He further said that when Dajjal comes out, one of the believers will turn towards him and many of his guards will meet him and ask, “Where are you going?”. He will reply, “I intend to go to this Dajjal who has come out”. They will ask him, “ Do you not believe in our Lord”?. He will reply, “ Nothing is concealed from our Lord”. They will say,” Kill him!> some of them will say to others, “Has your lord not prohibited you to kill anybody in his absence”? Then, they will go with him to Dajjal. When the believer will see him, he will exclaim, “O people! This is the Dajjal of whom the Apostle of Allah had mentioned!” Dajjal will pass an order to kill him. so he will be placed on his belly and he (Dajjal) will say, “Overtake and behead him”. Then, his back and his belly will be beaten severely. He will then ask, “Will you not still believe me”? He will reply, “You are the anti-christ, the great liar. Then, the order will be passed about him and he will be sawed from the middle of his head until his legs will be severed. After that, Dajjal will walk between the two pieces and say to him, “Up”! He will then stand up erect. Afterwards, he will ask him, “Will you believe me?”. He will reply, “I have not anything but further light about you”. Then, he (the believer) will proclaim, “O ye people! He will not be able to do anything to any man after me”. Then Dajjal will overtake to slaughter him. he will place a  knife between his neck and throat but Allah will make his neck from its base upwards as if it was made of brass and the anti-christ will not find any place, he will therefore catch hold of his hands and legs in which to insert a weapon to cut off his neck, and throw him away. People will think that the man has been thrown into the fire but he will, in fact, be thrown into paradise. This man will have the highest grade of martyrdom in the estimation of the lord of the worlds.

While engrossed in his terrible acts, prophet Isa (Jesus) will descend on knowing about this, he will take to flight but the former will pursue and encounter him at the gate of Lud (one of the towns in Syria) and slaughter him. thereafter, he will come to people whom Allah has shielded from the menace of the anti-christ. He will wipe away the dust on their faces and will inform them of their grades in paradise. After the death of Dajjal, people will survive for seven years and there will be no enmity between any two.

The prophet (saw) has also said that, “If I am among you, I would be your defender against him, but should he appear when I am not among you, then, every one of you must look after himself. Allah will be the guardian over every Muslim in my place. He who encounters him from you should recite the opening verses of Surah Al-Kahf (Quran 18)”. He also taught us to seek refuge with Allah (swt) from the tribulations of Dajjal thus: Allahuma inna na’ uudhu bika min adhaabi Jahannama, wamin’ adhaabil-qabr, wamin fitnati-l-mahyyaa wal-mamaati, wamin fitnatil-masiihi-d-Dajjal”. (O Allah, we seek refuge with you from the punishment of hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trials of life and death and from the trials of the Dajjal).

3. Nuzuulu Isa Ibn Maryam (Coming down of Jesus)

Quran 43 v 57 – 61 : and when the son of Mary is mentioned as an instance, Lo! Your people raise a clamour and they say, “are our gods better or he?”. They did not mention this to you but for the sake of disputation. Nay, but they are a contentious people. He was only our servant on whom we bestowed our favour, and we made him an example for the children of Israel. But verily, he (jesus) is a sign of the hour. So have no doubt about it, but follow me. This is the right part.

The above verse have unequivocally dispelled the doubts as regards his second coming. Allah (swt) himself has decalred his coming as one of the signs of the last day. Our belief in his second coming is not like that of the Christians who believed that he died and rose from the grave and will come back to judge the world while sitting on the right side of God. The Islamic position is that he was never crucified and is presently dwelling in the heaven as Allah has raised him and in the state best known to God alone. The tradition of his having lived for one hundred and twenty years and subsequent death at Srinagar in Kashmir is nothing but a fabrication of the Ahmadis. It is antithetical to the message of the Quran and the sayings of the prophet (saw). For instance, Allah says thus:

Quran 4 v 158 –159: And their saying,’ we did kill the Messiah, jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah; whereas they kill him not, nor crucified him, but it was made to appear to them like that and those who differ therein are certainly in a state of doubt about it; they have no definite knowledge thereof, but only follow a conjecture; and they did not kill him; Allah raised him up to Himself and Allah is Mighty, Wise, and there is none among the people of the Book (christians and Jews) but must believe in him before his death and on the Day of Judgment, he (jesus) shall be a witness against them.

The above verses were revealed after the departure of prophet Isa (as). If truly he had died, then, there will be no basis for the phrase ‘before his death’ as used in respect of the people of the book above. Secondly, Allah has categorically stated that he was neither killed nor crucified but that He has used His omnipotence to raise him up to Himself. If Allah who gives and takes life has said this, it suffices to dispel any form of doubt for those who wish to tread the right course to their Lord.

On his second coming, he is not going to act as a prophet or a messenger, for Muhammed (saw) was the last one. He will come as an obedient servant of Allah (swt). His return will afford him the opportunity to restate and reiterate that he is neither God nor His son. He will declare that his is His servant. This will give those who have not believed in him amongst the jews the opportunity to do so because he was sent to them alone. His coming will also bring to past the killing of the Dajjal. Traditions of the prophet (saw) have it that, he will suddenly descend near the white tower to the east of Damascus, dressed in two red clothes, placing his hands on the wings of two angels, he will arrive at the time of the morning solat and will join the Muslims in prayer behind Imam Mahdi. Afterwards, he will fetch for Dajjal  and kill him. also, he will be the one to pray to Allah (swt) along with the other believers against the menace of the Gog and Magog and this Allah will grant as a mercy for His righteous servants.

He will also crush the cross, kill the swine and abolish Jizyah (the imposed tax on the non-muslim residents of an Islamic State in lieu of state protection they enjoin). He does not, however, need to tour the whole world breaking the crosses and killing swines. How many will he break? Which type will he start with – metallic or wooden? He will only preach his true message and demonstrate it practically, then, Allah will let it spread to every nook and cranny of the whole world. He will use the Shariah of Muhammed (saw) to establish and restore justice to people. This is a period when people will not harbour rancour against one another. This is  a period of abundant riches and provisions. The righteous servants of Allah (swt) will be contented with a single prostration rather than the avalanche of riches. Having completed his assignments, he will live for some time and die. The Muslims will observe the ritual rites on him.

@Nascom

May Allah reward you and my brothers and sisters in faith abundantly. Amin

A muslim earns additional reward by praying for his muslim brothers and sisters even in their absence because each time he prays for them , the angels say, " and you too".

Let me start my write up with a verse in the Quran thus:

Quran 2 v 225 : Allah! There is no God but he: The everlasting, self-Subsisting, suporter of all, no slumber can seize him nor sleep, His are all things in the heaven and on earth, who is there (that) can intercede in His presence except as he permitted? He knows what (appeared to His creatures as) before or after or behind them, nor shall they compass nothing of His knowledge, except as He wills, His throne does extends over the heaven and earth and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them, for He is the most high, the Supreme (in glory).

A minute lesson from the prophet

"The example of a believer is that of a fresh green plant, the leaves of which move in whatever direction the wind forces them to. And when the wind becomes still, it (i.e. the plant) stand straight. Such is the similarity of the believer, he is disturbed by calamities (like joblessness, sickness, poverty etc) but like the fresh plant, he would soon overcome his problems and back to normality. And the example of a disbeliever is that of a pine tree (which remains) hard and straight without any calamity whatsoever until Allah (swt) cuts it down when he wills. (Bukhari)

"Whatever Allah takes is for Him, and whatever He gives is for him and everything has a limited fixed term (in this world). So be patient and hope for Allah' reward. (Bukhari)

Allah (SWT) has 99 special attributes that are stated in the Glorious Quran. Some  of these attributes include AR-RAHMAN - The Beneficient. AR-RAHIM- The MERCIFUL. AL-QUDDUS - The Holy One. AL-MUMIN - The Protector. AL-GHAFFAR - The Forgiver of Sins. AL-WADUD - The Loving. AL-MUMIT-The Destroyer. AL-HAYY - The Ever-Living. AL-BATIN - The Knower of the Hidden. AL-MUJIB - The Answerer of Prayers. AR-RAZAQ - The Provider of wants and AL-WAHID - The One and Only. Moreover, in order to braoden our knowledge of the Almighty Allah, the Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw) quoted Him as saying:

"Oh my servants, I have forbidden wrong doing in myself, and I have made it a thing forbidden among you. So do not act wrongfully towards one another"

"Oh my servants, all of you are astray save him whom I have guided, so ask guidance of me, I will guide you".

"Oh my servants, all of you are hungry save him to whom I have given food, so ask food of me, I will feed you".

"Oh my servants, all of you are naked save him whom I have clothed, so ask clothing of me, I will cloth you".

"Oh my servants, you sin night and say (and) it is I who forgive all sins. So ask of me for fogiveness, I will forgive you".

"Oh my servants, you will never attain to my power of harming so as to harm me nor my power of benefitting so as to benefit me".

"Oh my servants, were the first of you and last of you, , as good as the most pious hearts among you, that would not add aught to my kingdom"

"Oh my servants, were the first of you and the last of you to rise in a single place and petition to me and I give to each what he asked, that would not lessen what I have with me any more than a needle in the ocean (would raise its level)"

"Oh my servants, it is your work alone for which I shall hold with you an account and then I shall give the recompense for them" (Muslim)

                                The power of faith

After having acquired the necessary knowledge about the Almighty Allah, the next thing is to place one's faith on the already acquired knowledge of Allah. In Islam, there are six basic articles of faith namely:

1.  Belief in the Oneness of Allah
2. Belief in the Angels
3. Belief in all the Prophets of Allah
4. Belief in the Revealed Books.
5. Belief in the Dya of Judgement
6. Belief in Destiny.

So, by having absolute faith in all the above stated articles, a person is qualified to be a faithful Muslim. But if one may ask, what really is faith in the Almighty Allah? To have faith in God is simply to have a complete confidence and assurance in Him. To know Him as the source of every event both good and evil and also to know Him as the Sole Creator and the Most Powerful of all existing beings both physicaly and spiritually. Also, to have faith in God is to know and accept Him as the only One who knows, understands and has the ability to solve all the problems of our lives.

Furthermore, there are many people in the world today, who claim to be Muslims but who in the actual sense are far away from Islam simply because they lack the proper understanding of the religion. Concerning these categories of Muslims, when they pray to the Almighty to seek for His assistance and guidance and their prayers are not answered due to their lack of faith, they will then turn to another source in the course of finding solutions to their problems. Concerning these people, Almighty Allah states in the Glorious Quran that:

Quran 13 v 14: The prayer of those without faith is nothing but vain prayer.

In addition, there are many people in the world who are not Muslims and who place their various faiths on other deities apart from Allah, and yet get their demands granted.

The question is, does thie mean that there are other deities apart from Almighty Allah who can provide mankind with their needs? Basically, there is none, but Allah. He is AR-RAHMAN, that is, The Beneficient, and His Beneficience is not limited to only those who have faith in Him and worship Him, but rather it is extended to the generality of mankind, both the Muslims and non-muslims.

In the case of those who despite their lack of faith in the Almighty Allah and still get their wordly demands granted by Him, Allah states in the Glorious Quran thus:

Quran 9 v 82 : let them laugh a little; much will they weep.

Furthermore, Allah says:

Quran 2 v 86: these are the people who buy the life of this world at the price of hereafter.

Still on the same issue of faith, the Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw) said:

"Whereever anyone of you places his faith, there also he would find it".

So, with this saying of theProphet, as Muslims, we should never be suprised at all if we happen to see a persn who believes that by worshipping a certan tree or idol, his demand would be granted, for certainly it would be so, but why? Simply because that is where he places his faith and so, Allah will be granting his demands based on the idol or whatever he believes in.

Similarly, a person who believes in Jesus Christ as his Lord, Saviour and Provider in preference to the Almighty Allah will also definitely have his wordly demands granted as much as Allah wills. Concerning this, the Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw) said:

"None is more patient than Allah against the harmful and annoying words He hears (from the unbelievers among mankind). They ascribe children to Him, (They worship His created beings as Gods and saviours), yet He bestows upon them (sound) health and (worldly) provisions" (Bukhari)

Also, Allah states in the Quran thus:

Quran 7 v 30: They took the satan in preference to Allah, (the almighty) for their God, friend and protector and think that they receive (the true) guidance.

For those who place their faith in Allah, the Almighty and sincerely follow the true Islamic path, Allah says thus:

Quran 2 v 257: Allah is the protector of those who have faith in Him.

Also

Quran 5 v 56: It is the party of Allah that must certainly prosper.

However, Allah calls on the generality of mankinf thus:

Quran 5 v 23: victory (and salvation) will be yours, but in Allah (you should) put your trust, and faith .

@Nella,

Thank you sister for the response. Honestly, I am very tired of this debate. I have been trying to limit my posts to Islamic threads for the benefit of my faithful brothers and sisters unless if I see anything or read anything pertaining to Islam and muslims on other threads and it will not be like the blind arguments one has been experiencing on Nairaland. No matter how hard you may try, you will never be able to convince or change people even with your facts. The reason is not far fetched from the fact that its only God that can change people regardless of how you may be trying with proofs. God says that, even if the angels and the dead come from heaven and graves and show people proofs, some will still not believe.

So my sister, lets leave those aside and thanks for accepting my proposal to divert the topic.

You claimed that you are not an Arsenal fan, that you love playing football but that you dont like watching it! huh

May I know if you are playing for your country or club level.

Also, how come you love playing football but do not like watching it?

Human problems and solutions

Why did Allah allow multitude of problems to threaten our existence on earth? This had been the basic question which many great men in human history have been asking since time immemorial. And the Almighty Allah, the Supreme Creator gives the necessary answer thus:

Quran 2 v 214: Or do you (mankind) think you shall enter the garden (of paradise) without such trials as come to those who passed away before you? They encountered suffering and adversity and were so shaken in spirit that even the messenger (of God) and those of faith who were with him creid , ‘when will come the help of Allah?. Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is always near.

Furthermore, the Almighty Allah states thus:

Quran 2 v 155: (Oh mankind) be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hubger, some loss in goods, lives, and the fruits (of your labour) but (oh Muhammed saw), give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.

Considering the above quoted verses, we are told that troubles and problems are part of human existence designed by Allah, the Almighty to test our faith and steadfastness in Him.

Some people believe that every good happening is from God while every bad thing and evil thing is from satan, the devil. This belief is certainly not true because to to hold to such a belief is to raise satan to the status of all wise and all knowing which is only for Allah. Allah states in the Holy Quran that:

Quran 6 v 57: the (supreme) command (of all occurrence) rest with none but Allah (the Almighty)

So, as muslims, whenever any good thing happens to us, we should thank Allah for it and equally whenever any bad thing happens, we should wholeheartedly admit that it is also from Allah. Considering those people who might wish to mislead us in our time of troubles by making us to believe that the problems we are undergoing is as a result of the acts of some devilish people, Allah commands us to reply them thus:

Quran 9 v 5: say!, nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us! He is our Protector and in Allah let the beliebers put their trust.

Or otherwise if during the time of our troubles and problems, a non-muslim approaches us and promises solution to our problems saying that if only we could accept any other beings as our personal lord and saviour, or follow him or her to their religious house, or to a herbalist, soothsayer, withdoctor etc. Almighty Allah commands us thus

Quran 9 v 129: say!, Allah is sufficient for me. There is no God (and saviour) but He, on Him (only) is my trust.

Also Allah states thus:

Quran 3 v 160: if Allah helps you, none can overcome you, (likewise) if he forsakes you, who is there after that can help you? In Allah then. Let believers put their trust.

In order to relive us of our worries and uneasiness and as an assurance that He (Allah) is always ready to hear and answer our prayers, He commands the Holy Prophet Muhammed thus :

Quran 2 v 186: when my servants ask thee concerning me, I am indeed close (to them). I respond to the prayers of every supplicant when he calls on me (but let them also, with a will to listen to my call and believe in me, that they may walk in right way)

Also

Quran 2 v 153 : o ye who believe! Seek (Allah’s) help with patient, perseverance and prayer, for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.

And equally also, Allah advises the generality of the Muslims whenever they are in problems to always

Quran 7 v 128: pray for help from Allah and (then wait) in patience and constancy.

In addition, there are times when our prayers may seem unanswered by Allah, and if that happens and our faith is not all that strong, we might be tempted by the devil to seek for solutions elsewhere. But as sincere and faithful Muslims, if such a solution should occur, we must wholeheartedly accept it to be the will of the Almighty Allah and continue with our prayers to Him. Allah says

Quran 2 v 249: Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere.

Moreover, if our prayer seem to be unanswered at times, it may be a deliberate act by Allah for our own good because granting of request by Allah sometimes may be to our own peril. This is so because Allah our creator understands our human psyche, hence, He is the best judge and best planner.

Therefore, He withholds demands until the time He knows our demands would be of great benefits to us. And to this end, Allah states that:

Quran 2 v 216 : but it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows and you know not.

However, as faithful muslims, we should believe that Allah is our creator and also He, is the only one who can give lasting solutions to all worldly problems.

@Mustay

You are right my brother. That’s one of the problems we are facing with Muslims and not only elders this time.

Despite the fact that we have verses in the Holy Quran going against gambling and alcohol, these people will be telling you that alcohol intake is allowed that its getting drunk that is bad. I don’t know where they get this idea from when its known that tasting a drop is a sin and the prayer of such a person will not be accepted for 40 days.

Quran 5 v 90: O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks) and gambling and arrows for seeking luck or decision are an abomination of satan’s handwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.

Quran 5 v 91: satan wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from Solat. So will you then not abstain?

Allah made it known to us that we must seek knowledge of him before we worship him. Some Muslims believe that they don’t need to seek for knowledge and that they are contented with whatever they know. Some cannot even perform solat very well let alone knowing other things surrounding it.

Some Muslims do not have English Quran in their various homes let alone having the Arabic. Some do not even know that some verses are in the Quran let alone opening and reading it.

Allah made it known to us that He has provided everything we may need in the Quran, so its now left for us to be reading our Quran and putting them into perfect use because

Quran 3 v 110: You (true believers in Islamic monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammed saw and his Sunnah) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind. You enjoin doing good and forbid polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden, and you believe in Allah. Amd had the people of the Scriptures believed, it would have been better for them, among them are some who have faith but most of them are disobedient to Allah and rebellious against Allah’s command.

I wonder how muslims will be able to defend their faith when unbelievers come knocking at their doors deluding them with false doctrines. I have decided to stop the religious debate and limit my post to Islamic thread unless my attention is sought because no matter how much you try, the unbelievers will never accept and they believe that they know everything. I have not been posting both the Quranic and biblical verses for myself but for those that will read later. Some muslims and unbelievers would have benefited from the posts despite the fact that some unbelievers have been saying disgusting things. Some will still benefit from it after I might have gone or left nairaland.

@ all

Muslims, let us seek knowledge and know more about Allah that we have been worshipping. Thread has been created for questions and answers. If you have anything that you are not that cleared of about Islam, you are free to post it here and don't worship Allah as if you are being forced to do so.

May Allah continue to accept our Ibadah and increases our Islamic knowledge.

Honestly, if you have been reading their posts, you would have noticed that they wrote almost in the same style, sentence construction, diction etc.

Finally, to baby trinity, Shahan is different from Syrup. Get that straight. cheesy cheesy

Syrup, dont mind them, its called adoration. I wish I could be mistaken for Shahan or Syrup so that my head will be swelling up.

Kai, I have missed a lot. I dont know that a thread exist like this o. O I dey vex o and I will be needing a bucketful of water to cool me down.

So Shahan na female. Yes o, thats how am seeing it o. Also Shahan, m4malik and mlks_baby are brothers and sisters. Though I have not read mlks_baby's thread but am very sure, the same blood must surely run through their veins. Hope I have never misyarned to either m4malik or mlks_baby. If I have, I ma momentarily and sadistically sorry. I know that I have offend Shahan but that was then.

So that oyinbo man fast o, but e never late. It seems mlks_baby is still vacant. It seems the bidder are now becoming many.

Also Shahan shoulod know that babs is bidding too and that lucky man should watch for babs cause the man sabi trip lady anyhow. I am very sure the highest bidder will win.

Honestly, you are very intelligent. Yesk e, I must say it. If one's child is goods, one must say it out ke. I do read m4malik posts too but just that there was this personal attack on my dear brother Olabowale and shouldnt have been that way.

Honestly speaking, I love everybody here on Nairaland be it muslims, christians, atheists etc but its just that davidylan and babyosis have so much hatred for Islam and muslims. You cant be speaking ill of another persons' religion and never expect the person to reply.

Shahan, I am very sure, the race is between me and our oyinbo brother, just like the case of Yar adua and Atiku and I even learnt that he has been disqualified. If Baba no want am, make im sef comot now, its not a do or die affair. M4malik, welcome jare, why did you go into hiding all these while. I even learnt that the bobo gey bia bia, no problem just like we we. I also learnt that im tall, well no problem, Thank God that I myself paid educational levy called 'owo idagba soke', so I can compete with him. No qualm.

As for mlks_baby, I wish her best of look, em sorry luck in her exam, but she should know that someone is waiting and has been counting days till she returns cheesy cheesy. We muslims and Christians share some things in common and I think we should try and look into those areas using the two books to buttress our points rather than arguing stemoplumo, tentoglucose, hydrapumylic merricorously (sorry for my big big grammar, I have decided to be blowing grammar like Shahan so that she will know that I can also blow grammar too. @babyosis,

Here you go again. Are you saying there are no Ibo muslims? I can remember two Ibo muslims at Lagos Island, Marina precisely. I never knew that they were Ibo until I heard their names and also saw them speaking Igbo. It sounded somehow seeing Ibo muslims in the midst of Yorubas. I moved closer and enquired from one of them and I was told that he was an Ibo by birth.

So babyosis, Its not that there are no Ibo muslims but they are very few. Also are you trying to say that Ibo become muslims in order to have political power. If you are saying that, what of Ibos that are in the East and do their business there without coming or going to Hausa States? Do you say they are also interested in political seats?

The greatest sin is Shirk which is known as associating partner with Allah

Quran 4 v 48 : verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills, and whoever et up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.

Now lets face the issue. If Jesus had been called to come and die, then Judas shouldnt have been named the betrayer because he sped up what he came to do.

Also since he came to die, then it must have been decreed that Judas would cause his death. You dont have to hold anybody responsible for what jesus willingly came to do.

Please lets not argue back and forth over the issue.

There are muslim Igbos but just that they are very few compared to Igbo christians. Part of the reason could be for the fact that some igbos have never been in close contact with Muslims.

I could remember when my brother went for service at Enugu. He told me that though they have mosque there but that the number of muslims are very few compared to christians. He travels far in order to observe the Jumah prayer every Fridays.

Sorry for my late response. I have been very busy. I dont know why christians attack muslims on issues when they have worst cases in their holy book. It seems you have not been reading your bible, if you have, you would have read the saying of Jesus in

Mathew 7 v 5: You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. We will know see which of the book is worth giving to the younger ones to read.

Quran Sura 2:191: "Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers."

You should have quoted the verse in full. This is what we have

Quran 2 v 191: and kill them wherever you find them and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Haram (The sanctuary at Mecca) unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

It should be noted in the above verse that the verse was revealed during one of the wars fought by the Holy Prophet when they were being attacked by pagan arabs, unbelievers etc. Allah first told the prophet never to fight them, the pagans never allowed him perform his prayer and he had to migrate leaving behind his properties to Medinah. When the oppression was too much, Allah then ordered him to fight but never to exceed limit. So the above verse was revealed during the wars fought then.

Quran Sura 4:89: "Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them."

Quran 4 v 89 : they wish that you reject faith as they have rejected faith, and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not protector or friends from them till they emigrate in the way of Allah (to muhammed saw). But if they turn back (from Islam), take hold of them and kill them wherever you find them and take neither protectors nor friends nor helpers from them

The same explanation goes here too.

Quran 5:33: "Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom." (Anyone who resist Islam is deemed to be making war with Allah)

Same explanation too.

Allah told us never to kill

Quran 5 v 32:  because of that, we ordained for the children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land – it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind….,

Quran 17 v 33: and do not kill anyone whose killing Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is killed wrongfully, we have given his heir the authority (to demand law of equality in punishment) – or to forgive, or take blood money. But let him npt exceed limits in the matter of taking life (i.e. he should not kill except the killer). Verily, he is helped (by the Islamic Law)

Quran 6 v 151:…., and kill not anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause. This he commanded you that you may understand.

Having explained the verses, I will now go into the bible to compare the two books. I will be citing just or three examples out of very many exmaples.

Prophets but Naked!

Genesis 9 v 21: noah drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent and Ham (his son) saw the unclothedness of his father

1st Samuel 19 v 23: and the spirit of God came upon Saul , and he too stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesised before Samuel and lay naked all the day and all the night.

2nd Samuel 6 v 20: david dances naked before the people and before the Lord.

Fornicators!

Judge 16 v 1 : and he went to Gaza, and there he saw a HARLOT and he went into her.

Lots daughter commit incest with him

Genesis 19 v 30: lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the hills with his two daughters. And the first born said to the younger, “our father is old and there is not a man on earth to come to us after the manner of all the earth
Come let us make our father drink wine and we will lie with him that we may preserve offspring through our father. So they made their father drink wine that night and the first born went in and lay with her father; he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.

And on the next day, the first born said to the younger, “ behold I lay last night with my father, let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him that we may preserve offspring through our father. So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Thus both the daughters of lot were with child by their father!!

Judah with his daugher-in-law Tamar

Genesis 38 v 15: when he saw her he thought her to be a harlot for she had covered her face. He went over her at the road side and said, “come, let me come into you’ for he did not that she was his daughter in law …., so he gave them to her and went into her and she conceived by him. About three months later, Judah was told, ‘ Tamar you daughter-in-law has played the harlot and moreover she is with child by harlotry.

The sex literature in the bible

Song of Songs 8:1-3 "If only you were to me like a brother, who was nursed at my mother's breasts! Then, if I found you outside, I would kiss you, and no one would despise me.  I would lead you and bring you to my mother's house-- she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the nectar of my pomegranates.  His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me."

Song of Solomon 8:10 "Dear brothers, I'm a walled-in virgin still, but my breasts are full— And when my lover sees me, he knows he'll soon be satisfied."

Song of Songs 4:5 "Your two breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies."

Song of Songs 1:13 "My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts."

Praising the bed that they had sex on:
Song of Songs 1:16 "How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant"

Song of Songs 1:2-4 "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-- for your love is more delightful than wine.   Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens love you!  Take me away with you--let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you!"

His right arm sexually feeling her body:
Song of Songs 2:6 "His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me."

Song of Songs 3:4 "Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother's house, to the room of the one who conceived me."

So in other words, she was not married to him, and when she found him, she took him back to her bed room to have illegal sex with him?  If she were married to him, she wouldn't take him to her "mother's house".  She would take him to their house.

Song of Songs 4:9 "You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace."

Fantasizing about his sister? at least he shows in this verse that he would!.

Song of Songs 4:10 "How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice!"

Song of Songs 4:12 "You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain."

Song of songs 4 v 1: behold, you are beautiful m love. Your lips are like a scarlet thread, your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate, your neck like the tower of David. Your two breast are like fawns, twins of a gazelle. How sweet is your love my sister, my bride, how much better is your love than wine. How graceful are your feet in sandals,  o queenly maiden!
Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a master hand. Your navel is rounded bowl that never lacks mix wine.
Your belly is heap of wheat, encircled with lilies.
Your two breast are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle.
Etc…

Proverb 5 v 18: rejoice with the wife of your youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breast satisfy you at all times.

Biblical languages

Disgustful command to Ezekiel

Ezekiel 4 v 12: the lord said to Ezekiel, ‘ and you shall eat it as barley cakes and you shall bake it with dung that comes out of man in their sight. And the Lord said, ‘ even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the gentiles.
Then Ezekiel said, ‘ah Lord God, behold, my soul has not been polluted for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dies of itself or is torn in pieces, neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.
Then God replied ands said to him, ‘ lo, I have given cow’s dung for man’s dung and you shall prepare your bread there with.

They eat dung and drink piss

2nd king 18 v 27: Rabshakeh said, ‘ has he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung and drink their own piss with you’.

Rape is allowed in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 22:25-29
25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. 28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Now incase you didn’t catch where the rape is allowed I shall break the verses down to make it more clear and easier to understand. So lets break it down:

25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her

The verses 25-27 is talking about a NON-VIRGIN who is raped. So verses 25-27 do condemn rape, however so it only condemns rape in certain cases. So now we have established that if a non-virgin is raped then the rapist shall be killed. However so lets now read on to see where the rape is allowed:

28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

So now in verse 28 we see that if a man rapes a VIRGIN then his punishment is that he has to pay her father and marry her! What kind of law is that? I would really love to know why do you kill the rapist if he rapes a non virgin and why don’t you kill the rapist when he rapes a virgin? So as we all just saw, rape is condoned in certain cases in the Bible, when the victim happens to be a virgin the man gets away with it, when the victim is a non virgin the man is killed.

Let me post the entire passages again:

25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. 28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days

So there you go, in verses 25-27 when the non virgin is raped the rapist is killed. In verses 28-29 when a virgin is raped the rapist is not killed, the rape victim has to marry the rapist! Now I can assure you that no rape victim would ever want to marry her rapist, she would rather kill herself than marry her rapist. I wonder what Nella and other Christians have to say to this?

Killings in the bible

OT shows us a lot of battles that both Moses and David took part in, and both these men killed a lot of people, including women and children. Yet when I show this to Christians, they simply ignore it, or try to justify it. Yet what is most inconsistent about this is that if the prophet Muhammad kills people in battle or war, the Christian goes mad and starts screaming out 'false prophet!

Christians here on Nairaland have been claiming that Jesus is God, they claim that Jesus is the same God of the OT. So basically what we have is this:

1- Jesus is God

2- Jesus is the God of the Old Testament

3- Christians believe that the OT is the inspired word of God

4- The OT is authentic to the Christian

5- The God in the OT is Jesus

So since Jesus is the God of the OT, we shall now look at the God of the OT ordering the KILLINGS of many people:

Zephaniah 2:12-15

"You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword," says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. "In all the world there is no city as great as I," it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live! Everyone passing that way will laugh in derision or shake a defiant fist

Ezekiel 9:5-7
"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told."

Let me stop here. Do I need to say more? The bible is indeed the holiest book  cheesy cheesy.

Take care Sweet sister Nella.

God's plan for one's life can be altered. I would have loved to give you instances but you may not want to agree based on the fact that I will be using the Quran to support my claim.

Before you do or say anything, God is already aware. Nothing happens without God's knowledge. No evil befalls any man without His knowledge. If God does not want to punish someone, nobody can do that and if he decides to, nobody can hold him back.

Its only man and Jinn that are given freedom to do whatever they feel like. Man should also understand that he is free to choose between good and evil and will be rewarded for anyone he does, but he should also know that he cannot control the outcome of events which is known only to Allah alone.

God knows that prayer changes things and as a result tells us to always pray, because is the sword of the believer and through prayer, what you thought that is impossible will become possible.

I have thus spoken from my own Islamic perspection.

Thank you all.
