Founder of Port Harcourt-based Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie has charged the police to stop collecting money from internet fraudsters locally known as ‘Yahoo boys’, Igbere TV reports.
The clergyman said in a clip from one of his sermons posted on Instagram on Friday that policemen who collect money from internet fraudsters will “die”.
He said, “Internet fraud must stop in Nigeria. Police, all those ‘yahoo boys’, jail them arrest them. If you take bribes from ‘yahoo boy’, you policeman, that money will kill you. Do you know why?
“They stole from somebody who died and you collected the money. Then you and your family will die with it. Police, stop taking that kind of money but arrest them and jail them. It is blood money.”
Ibiyeomie noted that some victims of fraudsters have died due to the amount of money they lost to scam.
“It is a demonic satanic way of getting money. What kind of nonsense money is that? You are a thief. No matter how you colourise it, you’re a thief. You love stealing. Is it your money?” he said.
Ibiyeomie also tackled those who give chieftaincy titles to internet fraudsters. According to him, fraudsters should be treated as armed robbers, not royalty.
He said, “All people doing ‘yahoo’, stop giving them chieftaincy title. They are thieves. Why will you give a ‘yahoo’ person chieftaincy title? He’s a thief. Deal with them as armed robbers.”
Ibiyeomie is known for making controversial statements. Last year, he said it is only poor people who go to church with their phones.
Actress Ibinabo Fiberesima has opened up about her pain, doubt, insecurities and commitment to healing and restoration, Igbere TV reports.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 51-year-old said that in spite of her pain and insecurities, she is still grateful for her commitment to healing.

The former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria was charged with manslaughter and reckless driving in 2009 after she accidentally killed a medical doctor Giwa Suraj in 2006.
Ibinabo was sentenced to a five-year jail term by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. She was however granted bail in the sum of ₦2 million by a Court of Appeal in Lagos pending the determination of her appeal at the Supreme Court.

Actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed that being a single mother is her biggest challenge, Igbere TV reports.
The mother of two made this known in an interview with Riyah Abdul. A snippet of the interview was posted on Instagram on Thursday.

Nigerian billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist Alakija on Monday shared photos of her meeting with Bishop TD Jakes at House on the Rock Church, Igbere TV reports.

Dancehall singer, Cynthia Morgan, on Wednesday rekindled her battle with her former label boss, Jude Okoye, as she called him out over their past deal, Igbere TV reports.
Cynthia Morgan had last year taken Okoye to court over the accountability of her intellectual property during their time together.
However, in a recent rant on her Instagram story, she had called him out, stating that she didn’t beg him for a deal.

Nigerian businessman, Mompha has issued a warning to Bobrisky after his name came up in the cross-dresser's social media clash with former BFF and actress, Tonto Dikeh, Igbere TV reports.
In chats Tonto Dikeh released which captured the "genesis" of her fallout with the cross-dresser, Bobrisky called out the actress for not turning up for his birthday and also not telling him that Mompha donated towards her charity organisation.
Reacting to Bobrisky's comment, Mompha warned the cross-dresser to desist from mentioning his name in any fight he has with Tonto or any other person, as they would be meeting in court if he continues towing same path.
Admitting that he gave Tonto the money, he however countered Bobrisky's claim of giving out the money without his knowledge. Mompha claimed that it is a "deliberate attempt by Bobrisky, who is notorious for seeking attention through every means (including blackmail), to smear and ridicule his personality before the world".
Insisting that Bobrisky is not his friend, he stated that he is a devoted Muslim and does not associate with gay people as his faith forbids it.
He wrote; “My attention has been drawn to a statement credited to Idris Okuneye (aka “Bobrisky”), which is currently receiving traction across the social media. In the said statement, Bobrisky stated that I gave Tonto Dikeh the sum of N300,000.00 without his knowledge. Netflix has dedicated filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s new movie A Naija Christmas to Rachel Oniga who acted in the film before she died on July 30, Igbere TV reports.
Afolayan said this in an Instagram post on Thursday after announcing that the movie is now available on Netflix
“A naija Christmas is now live on @naijaonnetflixI am glad that I proposed to Netflix that we dedicate the film to the memory of our dear Late Rachael Oniga and they obliged. Thanks to the Netflix team,” he wrote.
Rachel Oniga was on the set of the production when she took ill from what was reported to be complications related to Covid.
She died from her illness and production was temporarily suspended in her honour.
The movie follows three sons on their quest to make their mother’s Christmas wish for daughters-in-law come true.
Oniga is the mother who, unimpressed by her sons’ refusal to get married and give her grandchildren, demands that they bring home their partners on Christmas Day.

December 24 has been announced as the release for the remix of Fireboy’s hit single ‘Peru’ would feature British singer Ed Sheeran.
Igbere TV reports that rapper Olamide made the announcement on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Meanwhile 24th of December Peru (remix) biza biza Fireboy x Ed Sheeran. We Lit,” Olamide wrote.
Sheeran had announced that he would be collaborating with Fireboy on the remix of the latter’s hit song ‘Peru’.
The Grammy Award winner made this known during a recent interview with Elton John on Apple Music’s Rocket Hour program, adding that he is obsessed with the song.
Speaking on the forthcoming collaboration, Ed Sheeran said, “So I got sent his song Peru a week ago, to remix it. Someone, a friend of mine, Jamal [Edwards] who runs SBTV sent it to me.

The actress cried out on Instagram, lamenting the killings of northerners, calling out their leaders to intervene.

Leader of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Evelyn Joshua on Tuesday, December 7 distributed bags of rice, clothes and cash gifts to the elderly at the church’s premises in Ikotun, Lagos, Igbere TV reports.
The move was in continuation of her late husband prophet TB Joshua’s foundation of giving.
The recipients thanked the woman of God and Emmanuel TV partners for the gifts.
A message on the church’s Facebook page said the church actually began with the giving ministry. Quoting Joshua, the church said “giving is an assignment from God”.

Our Son Acted As A School Father For Sylvester, He Is Innocent — Late Buruji Kashamu’s Family Speaks
The family of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu says Michael Kashamu, one of five students of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos named to have allegedly attacked Sylvester Oromoni, is innocent, Igbere TV reports.
In a statement issued on the family’s behalf by Mutairu Kashamu, the family called for calm and supported the ongoing investigation into the matter.
In the statement, the late senator’s family explained that, “Our son, Michael Kashamu, had acted as a school father for the late Sylvester in his first session in the school.”
The family, however, clarified that Michael had ceased to be the “school father” of the deceased when he was allegedly bullied.
Igbere TV reports that the family called for the alleged cyber bullying which it has been subjected to since the incident became public knowledge to stop.
Dowen College Student's Death: Kashamu's Family Empathizes With The Bereaved...Calls For Thorough Investigation.

The Kashamu family has been inundated with enquiries, calls and messages over the unfortunate incident at Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, which led to the untimely death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student of the College.
While we empathize and commiserate with the family of the late Sylvester Oromoni over the irreplaceable loss, we wish to appeal to all and sundry to hold their horses until the Police and the Lagos State government have completed their independent investigations and established the truth.
Most commentators have rushed to conclusions based on assumptions and false information, including the allegation that our son Adewale Michael Kashamu was in any way involved in the bullying or beating of Sylvester Oromoni.
Since the news of the unfortunate incident broke, we have made our own private enquiries and carefully questioned our son about his involvement. This is why we did not rush out to respond to the cyber-stalking, name-calling and negative commentaries that have taken over the social media about our son’s alleged involvement in this sad incident.
Some of the true facts now slowly emerging from under the mass of lies are that: Our son, Adewale Michael Kashamu, had acted as a school father for the late Sylvester in his first session in the school at the request of Sylvester’s sister who is also a student of the school.
However, in the 2021 session commencing in September 2021 Adewale Michael Kashamu was moved to a different floor in the boarding house and engrossed in his own studies and activities, he was no longer as close to Sylvester as in the previous session.
Adewale Michael Kashamu is a compassionate and considerate boy. Sometime last session, some boys had been accused of beating Sylvester with belts and seizing his foodstuff but Adewale Michael Kashamu was not involved at all. He was in fact in sympathy with Sylvester over that incident.
On that occasion, Sylvester’s parents made a report to the school and the affected students were questioned and one of them at least was suspended.
Adewale Michael Kashamu is not aware that an identical incident occurred again this year leading to Sylvester’s injury and death.
Adewale Michael Kashamu had seen Sylvester limping sometime late in November and (assuming he might have been injured playing football) merely empathized with him and advised him to go to the school clinic.
Other students who knew the circumstances of Sylvester’s leg injury have all testified that he was injured whilst playing football.
Whilst he was in school, Sylvester had no visible injury to his lips or face. Sylvester’s family has admitted that Sylvester’s swollen, blistered and bloody lips (as shown in videos and pictures, now viral on the internet) were reactions to medications given to Sylvester after he had been taken from the school by his parents.
We feel and can relate to the pains of the Oromoni family and all those genuinely concerned about this unfortunate incident. That is why we wish to express our readiness to cooperate with the parents of the deceased, the Police, the Lagos State government and other relevant stakeholders to get to the root of this matter so that the cause of justice will not only be served but manifestly seen to have been served.
However, it is regrettable that of the five names that were mentioned in relation to the incident, it is only Kashamu's name that seems to ring a bell. Consequently, the family and its late patriarch (Senator Buruji Kashamu of blessed memory) have been the butt of irresponsible, falsehood-based and unwarranted attacks even when the full details of the incident are not yet known.
There is no denying the fact that Adewale Michael Kashamu is one of the children of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu. But, no family or parent will send a child to school to be involved in any form of crime or criminality; just like no parent would be happy to be informed that a child he or she sent to school to learn has been molested or killed under any guise.
That is why we wish to appeal for restraint on all sides. The cyber-bullying of our family will not help in any way to solve the bullying in schools that society through the ages has desired to stop.
The larger society should start by setting a higher standard.
We reckon that the bereaved family has related the account of the incident as narrated by the deceased.
On our part, we have continued to engage our son, Adewale Michael Kashamu, and he has continued to maintain his innocence.
Now that the Lagos State government and the Police have waded into the matter, we shall fully cooperate with them so that the truth will be established and the cause of justice served - justice for the deceased and his family, justice for the accused students and their families and justice for the society.
At this juncture, we want to encourage the management, parents and pupils of Dowen College (and indeed anyone) who may have useful information about this incident to please volunteer same to the Police and the Lagos State government - in the interest of justice.

Nigerian music legend, 2face Idibia has reacted after a hotel in his homestate, Benue, cuts a bar soap into two for lodgers to share, Igbere TV reports.
A man, Osa Seven on Snapchat shared the photo of the bar soap divided into two at the hotel he's lodged in wrote; “When you get to hotel in rural area and experience a real life situation of "Cut soap for me."
Reacting to the Snapchat post made by Osa, 2Face said, “Not my Ugboklo.”
Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, on Friday marked the 10th anniversary of the death of their daughter Yasmin, Igbere TV reports.
Yasmin, who was El-Rufai’s eldest daughter, died at the age of 25 in her London apartment on November 26, 2011.
An inquest heard that she died after suffering an epileptic fit at her Lisson Grove home.
Having been diagnosed with the illness at 14, Yasmin had a history of seizures when she forgot to take her medication. She last suffered an attack in the summer of 2011.
Mrs El-Rufai posted a photo of Yasmin on Instagram, saying she is still being missed.
“Exactly ten years today. Still missing out,” she wrote.
Igbere TV reports that Yasmin held a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Bath, UK and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics (LSE). She also had a law degree from the University of London.
In 2013, Mrs El-Rufai established Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation (YELF), a non-profit NGO, in memory of Yasmin who had “great passion for literature, creativity and knowledge.”
Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has promised to complete the ongoing 6-lane Port Harcourt Road project before May 2023 with at least one lane asphalted for use before the end of this year, Igbere TV reports.
This was made known by the Governor through the State’s Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, while chatting with newsmen in Aba, the State’s commercial nerve centre.
Mr. Okiyi recalled that work stopped temporarily on the road due to the Ndiegoro flood mediation project which intersected Porr Harcourt Road from the Uratta axis which is being handled NEWMAP.
Chief Okiyi stated that the state government is devising an alternative route to evacuate the heap of refuse at Crystal Park junction of the road, an exercise which will also mark the re-commencement of work on the Port Harcourt Road, Aba, having done same when it started work on the road in 2018.
He revealed that the NEWMAP project which involves Uratta and Umuagbai flood plains as well as reconstruction of Ngwa and Obohia roads has a-two-and-half-year completion timeline and that the project site was handed over to the contractors on the 6th of June, 2020, with work actually commencing in January 2021 as a result of delays occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent EndSARS protests that followed in October 2020.
According to him, the contractors, Hartland Nigeria and a UAE company which were expected to procure a tunnel boring machine (TBM) for the establishment of underground tunnels to deliver storm water to Waterside River could not meet up the deadline because of disruptions in international procurement systems during the pandemic, hence, the expected modifications in the design to ensure proper channeling of water through Uratta, Umuagbai, Ngwa and Obohia roads.
Debunking claims of mismanagement of $56m facility for the Port Harcourt Road project, Chief Okiyi stated that such accusation was the outcome of the figment of imagination of some ignorant minds who do not know that the state government does not have direct access to a World Bank facility for the projects it is executing in the state and also disputed the claim of availability of any $56m for Port Harcourt Road project as being bandied about by some people with selfish political motives. He informed that it is the state government that is funding the Port Harcourt Road project with Abia tax payers’ money while the World Bank is funding the Ndiegoro erosion mediation project through a facility that will be repaid by the government in due course.
“There is absolutely no truth in the allegation of mismanagement of any $56m provided for Port Harcourt Road project as no such money exists for that purpose, instead, the funds being used for World Bank projects in the state are released to contractors only after authorization by the Bank via a letter to the bank managing the project account”, he said.
Chief Okiyi who asserted that those inciting members of the public with false and misleading information are on a mission of political mischief and should be called to order by relevant traditional rulers and stakeholders as their activities have negative impacts on the realization of the much desired projects.
On Faulks Road, the state’s information boss said that the contractor will return to site later this year as he project has not been concluded, assuring that the State Government will execute palliative measures on the road to ease traffic.
He assured citizens that the infrastructural transformation of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu‘s administration will not stop until his last day in office as he is not ready to give in to the antics of political detractors noting that social re-orientation and enforcement efforts will be ramped up to improve the sanitary condition of the city since the state has consistently embarked on desilting of gutters for easy flow of floodwaters.
