There's nothing wrong in preserving beans with chemicals, it has been done for a long time.

to avoid pest etc. If you work in a warehouse you'll understand what I mean, they are plagued with rats constantly.

secondly it stops loss of money invested and if you want to get your beans whole. you need to preserve with chemicals.

no customer will buy your beans after they get sick of Ebola or if your beans is half eaten by rats.

Are you more concerned with making profit? It's better to look at how developed countries preserve their beans and still make it safe for human consumption. That said, if I deal in beans, I'll be more concerned by whether my beans is safe for human consumption than my profit. I can sell at a higher rate and make little profit.
