It should last if only the companies make money. We like to take out the business aspect of Transportation Power and Housing. Well not untill we take out politics out of these 3 areas we will be going up(as we have in Kwara state now) and down.

I have said it over and over again the problem is not power generating the problem is HOW DOES COMPANY X, Y AND Z GET THEIR MONEY FOR THE POWER THEY GENERATED?

You think those companies that make generators dont know they can make enough money by generating power? At what cost and how do they get their money. We that we have a culture of not paying light bill in nigeria?

Who will put his money into power generation when they know that they can sell generators to you and you pay cash and there is no more talk of any bills? TRULY SIN A REPROACH TO A NATION.

Our trying to beat corners has caught up with us.

We must build up our power infrastructure that include networking the whole nation to the national grid.
There must be need for us to put a juicy power rate that will bring people into the business of power generation.

IF THERE IS POWER GENERATION THE NETWORKING PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED. WE CAN DO IT.

This is a very good question. Atleast we know that we have so many language. The reason why you are thinking of banning any language is because Nigeria is not a yet a PRACTICING COUNTRY. A country that cannot choose what it wants is still in a state of dependance.

When you dont use what you have you loose it. If you see a snake and you have a BIG STONE in your hands and you cant use to kill the snake what happens when giving a small stone to kill a bigger snake.

The three major ethnics groups have failed Nigeria. This failure has been promoted by the SUPER CLASS of Nigeria. The Super class nigeria use tribalism as a good defence line to rob and destroy nigeria.

People of Nigeria if we had even 4 major languages and it is not made compulsory that we speak it. Then there is no need learning the language.

If our people cannot speak any other language apart from their own language then why should we all go our ways. In Ghana where I reside now I was surprised to know that some people can speak 3 -4 languages.

Like I used to say I would rather learn igbo or Ijaw rather than german that just have less than 20 million in the world.

If we make it compulsory for our kids to speak 4 languges by the time they are leaving secondary school and 2 when they are leaving University.

We also need to create language local labs and language villages.

We have to make all federal civil service military and police speak 2 other languages before they are give any Job. If they are in the Job now they must be given time to learn the language or leave the Job.

We need to test our Army. if we dont give our army the Job there will be no way to know what they can do. I believe if we gave our problems back to our schools no matter messed up it may seem, you will see more practical know how developing.

If our schools have to ask other schools outside for help it is better at least that will be learning on the job training. It will be better than giving it to a company that will pay 10% of an over inflated figure.

The Speaker of the House of Representative, Dimeji Bankole and the House Committee on Transport will be meeting with stakeholders in the transport sector on March 18 at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja by 10am to discuss the way forward in the industry.

According to the statement, the dialogue with the Transport sector will address the budgetary allocation/project prioritisation issues; manpower crises/generational gap in specialty areas in the sector; development of alternative routes for heavy cargo transportation; non-existent fair trade policies in the sector; corruption and abuse of power which inherently impede due process; lack of support in the sector in its bid to drive innovative development initiatives; weak legislative process necessary for reform in the transport sector and the communication gap between House of Representatives and operators within the transport sector amongst other things.

The statement further noted: "The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole is expected to lead the chairmen and members of the House of Representatives Committees on Transport and related committees to the dialogue."

Expected participants at the dialogue would include officials of Federal and State Parastatals within the Transport and related sectors, relevant regulatory bodies, CEOs of operators within the transport sector including airlines and mass transport companies, the diplomatic community, strategy and corporate development consultants, and the media.[/b]

To build a good transport system you must make laws compelling state governments to create STATE TRANSPORT AUTHORITIES.

This authorities will set up transport blocks that will be bought and owned by companies. The blocks will include priviledges and responsibility

1) carry people from place to place
2) import tax exemption on vehicle
3) Buses must be brand new and must be from the same brand
4) must have bus repair workshops this will come from the suppliers of the buses
5) must have bus terminus (they could buy up houses and break them down for use as bus terminus)
6) could give them tax holiday for 5 years
7) They must have customer care outlet
The blocks will cost money to be determined by the individual state government.

You see one of the problems with political involvement on transportation is that when the players dont have a business stake it a TRANSPORT BUSINESS your transport service will never move anywhere.

You can not put the weight of 20 million people on enterprenueral involvement or just political intervention.

buying a bus for your brother in nigeria and then giving it to someone to drive and bring delivery is never going to work we can never solve our problems.

on the hand the government involving itself with transport running directly will giving imense room for fraud from the beginning to the end. what we can do is the have data companies licencesed.

take for instance lagos state license's 4 companies to operate DATA collection. what they will do is get information on people and keep it in their data base.

So for a fee any company can access the 4 data bases and verify. ONLY THE POLICE AND INTELLIGENCE SERVICE WILL HAVE FREE ACCESS TO THIS DATA BASE.

1) there will be competition among them
2) if one breaks down 2 will be working
3) Out of 2 or more witness a truth is established

The issue of security cannot be overemphasized. We have a very insecure Lagos state. Without Law and order we can never and we will never have a vibrant soceity.

The security in lagos state is such that we have a state commissioner of police that was POSTED by a Federal Authority. What this means is that FASHOLA is not in command of the Security in Lagos state.

If there was a problem in Agege where armed men attacked people Fashola though duely voted cannot do anything because he is just the figure head CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER OF THE STATE. Why he has no troop. Who is his securiy Adviser.

Now how does FASHOLA GO ABOUT SECURING THE STATE WITHOUT A POLICE?

One of the ways of fighting crime is intel gathering. Having a CCTV is way of gathering intelligence and very credible evidence for prosecution to be considered.

Criminal mind fear the light. If I was filmed stealing from a super market even if I was Dangote and I had all the Lawyers and I was set free by a Court my conscience will not be free.

If a child knows that he is watched by the society he is more responsible.  The CCTV is a priority. If you ever lived in Lagos you know that the security is going worse everyday. ONE OF THE EASIEST WAY OF CATCHING AN ARMED ROBBER IS WHEN HE IS NOT ROBBING.

It is very easy to be Negative. What you have just done is to dream up a negative power that people will continue to offend and there will be no justice. This is a lazy mans way of thinking. Nigerians have raw strength but very negative Energy.

In scripture we see that God said let there be Light and if we take a cue from this we see that God had to make separation for Evil and Good.
To help this we need to have
Good Police/law enforcement System
Good Judiciary made on merit (it should commence from the ward/council)
Good Correctional Facilities manned by Religious bodies.
I will now expatiate on how we shall go by this.

Crime is cumulative.
The thought of crime is the beginning of crime. The fear to commit crime is one factor that kills crime. We must however identify the people that have not been corrupted by the grand army of corrupt people.
A 9 year old is not as corrupt as 14 year old and it goes on and on. We must take stock of people that are not corrupt and prepare them to be able to die for not being corrupt.
The Love to serve the fellow man should replace all fears. There is a fear that cripples and that is fear that I will end up a criminal. Why does this fear send one to commit crime?
The option that crime pays is because a lot of people have gone into crime and are living large even though it is for a while. The age group people that are not yet corrupt is the youth.

You should federalise Your Police Service in Stages.
You can have a Pilot program with States like say KANO OYO BAYELSA ANAMBRA This means that the states in question will pay run their security service by themselves. what this means is that all arrest and intelligence info will be sent to the Federal police Service for review. Any Unrest or problems in a state will be put at the door step of a state governor. The State police will compose of Indigenes.

You need to revise your

A) Mobile Squad (They must be Single or married to one wife) (They must be six feet and above with good physique)
B) Your Police officer Must be First class or second Class Upper
C) Pay of police officer $5000 must have
i. Insurance to life
ii. House mortgage (any police that serves for 5 - 10 years must have a house to his name.)
iii. Police must have a police Purchase and Equipment service( they must be unconnected to the police proper)
The Government( NIGERIAN POLICE SERVICE) will make companies bid for the License and there will be a vote by the police service every year where the Junior police men will have 2 votes and their Seniors will have single votes wether to retain the supplier.


A police station must be a glass house where people can see through what happens.

Security is a Business if you are not ready to spend Wisely you will loose foolishly.

You don't need plenty Police officer but you need a good well trained Mobile Squad.

Court of Law

A lot of people will tend to take the law into their hands because there is no place where they will go for redress. I say this, if you have a good police service and there little or no abundance access to quick legal system the police will take the law into their hands.
So you can set up
1) Motor Traffic courts
2) Civil court
3) Criminal court
4) Commercial court
Correctional Facilities

You shall set up correctional and penitent homes in the locality attached to the court. What you do is
1) Build penitentiary
2) Security of the prison should be handled by the prison service of Nigeria
3) The welfare of the penitent should be catered for by Churches and other religious bodies and this bodies will also monitor whether they have repented.

We need to make sure that we start to build from scratch. Once all Nigerians are law abiding then we can begin to move forward.

1) Local Penitentiary( run by religious bodies of the vicinity)
2) Court house
3) Police station with staff arranged by each state government under the Supervision of the Federal police Intellignce.
