It is simple .... we shout tech tech in Nigeria with no scalable products. Everybody is learning software programming but the programming isn’t solving immediate needs of the people. You need to solve the needs of people to remain relevant. We make too much noise!

what has this got to do with the devs laid off by Andela? Clearly you don't know much about the issue and just want to express your bias against programmers.

What needs and which people though? There is no app that can generate constant electricity or fix roads. However, there are banking apps today that let you do a lot from your phone, but guess who still goes to the bank to make transfers. The Nigerian people you are banking on to make one relevant.

The reason we even had a surge in software development in Nigeria is not because of the Nigerian tech market. It's because of opportunities that exist in other countries that value tech. Currently those opportunities are becoming fewer for less experienced devs because countries like the US now prefer to work with Americans.

there is already the ALC program created for training purposes.

You don't become experienced by doing in-house training. You do so by doing real hands-on work with real products in actual tech companies out there. The company could no longer guarantee that for them.

the move wasn't because of the Indian devs. It's because since Andela started, many coding bootcamps have sprung up in the US and Europe and many of the tech companies would prefer to hire local talent.

Your truth is wrong. Actually many companies (including Github, Codeclimate, etc) have 'risked' bringing on junior Andela devs and have even gone on to add more after some time. It's a narrative that Andela has been able to help change to an extent. Now the world realizes that you can get good tech talent from Africa.

It's just that right now, more and more companies want more experienced hands.

I felt hurt and cos of how I feel about her, I went to her house and she wasn't even remorseful. After a long talk, she finally told me sorry. I told her the condition for continuing the stuff we had was if she'd tell the guy she has someone, so they'd break that communication. She told me she won't do it then that she'd do it at her own time that I was pressuring/commanding her to choose, that she wouldn't do it. That if I loved her, I wouldn't tell her to choose. I asked if she didn't want me? She said she did and I told her the same thing and she refused. I told her I'd walk if she can't she said I made my choice. I did'nt know when I smashed my phone that's when she actually got concerned, I started going and she ran after me. Well she didn't still agree to what I told her, out of the love I have for her, i had to succumb. Then I slept in her house, told her to come to my house that later yday. She's been with me. Then this night that guy called her when I was with her, they talked. I couldn't hold the pain and disappointment, I told her. She told me that we've talked about it, that we shouldn't spoil the night. That it was just a call.
