u gave a wrong example, Onitsha pple migrated from benin and settled in their present site. The original inhabitants of the present onitsha are from idemmili/obosi. Therefore, onitsha is clearly Igboland. But lagos is inhabited by the awori ethnic group, the yorubas due to close proximity migrated to lagos, the aworis accomodated them and they(yorubas) started claiming ownership. So lagos is no man's land.

Which Lagos are you talking of is it the Colony of Lagos or Lagos state, because Ijebus Own Epe, Ajah and Ikorodu. Besides who said Aworis are not Yorubas.

Present day Britain derived the name from the word "Britannia" which was given to that region by the Romans who conquered the Anglo-saxons and name that region Britannia does that make the present day Britain a No Man's land. You have to know that, the man from Ogbomosho is a blood relation with an indigene of Lagos. Just like a Anambra man is a blood relation with an indigene of Enugu. Besides the Lagos you shout today part of it was carved out from Ogun and Oyo state or you think Lagos that mostly consist of a small potion of land and large potion of water just appeared from heaven, majority of the Land in Lagos state today was carved out from the Western region. Ikorodu and Epe for instance was carved out from Ijebu which is in Ogun state likes of Ikeja, Ipaja and the rest where also carved out from Ogun state. Besides that an Ogbomosho man's ancestor has moved to Lagos long before you Igbos knew there was a place called Lagos. You Igbos moved in mass into Lagos only after the Civil war ended in the Early 70's Figure the rest out yourself.

Remeber it is the British who made Lagos the Capital and remember Lagos state of today is Equal to the Colony of Lagos + Parts of Western region so the fact a group of people decided to come develop your land doesn't make it no man's land.

OP what kind of a question is this " who owns Lagos". A land bordered by Oyo state and Ogun state deep down inside Yoruba land. A land the was controlled by Oba Dosumu followed by Oba Kosoko when the British landed the shores of Lagos. Besides Epe, Ikorodu are all Ijebu land. Lagos Island is the Lagos the British made capital, other parts of Lagos were carved out from Ogun state.

Is like most pple don't know the history of Lagos. The name Lagos was given to that geographical space by the early Portuguese traders who were trading with the ijebu's, awori and co. Then came the British to the shores of Lagos from the Atlantic Ocean and at that time the people there mainly people from Yoruba extractions had a king there called Oba Dosumu he worked with the British he didn't resist them. The british used Lagos as a point to colonize the rest of Yoruba land, igbo land , Hausa land and the rest of Nigeria. When the British were leaving they already developed that land called Lagos so the Federal Govt felt comfortable to situate the capital there before IBB moved the Capital to Abuja.
To the point of the Story, Lagos was developed by the British first of all before the FG, many igbos didn't move to Lagos until after the Civil war in the 70's.
London is the most cosmopolitan city in the world with a lot of Arab investments there and you can never ever hhear anybody say London is a no man's land ofcourse it belongs to the English but they ve allowed contributions from everyone who chose to live there and call it their home.
So yes everyone is welcome in Lagos to call it their home but do not forget the Land belongs to some people before the British came in and the FG made it Capital. So igbos of all the other tribes in Lagos, you came in last into Lagos. Other tribes have been in Lagos before you came.
Igbos did not develop Lagos, most of you are into trading, do you develop a city with trading. The real pple developing Lagos are the white, Indians and chinese Foreigners in Lagos who pay huge taxes to the state Govt.not petty tax they collect from igbos trading.

My brother I thank you for that wise statement, this same people get the lion share of the money made from Crude oil, the Allocation to Akwa-ibom, Delta,Rivers and Bayelsa put together is more than the Allocation of the other states in Nigeria put together. Ministry of Niger Delta affairs and NDDC was created for them, Oil companies pay them Royalties from time to time, they allocate a certain percentage of Jobs to their youths even when they ain't qualified for their job, so I really don't know why these set of people are so selfish they don't even want other parts of Nigeria to enjoy one drop of their "Oyel".

1. We all know how PDP led FG starved Lagos of so much because it's an APC state,National Theatre, National Stadium and Key Federal roads abandoned
2. Ambode is also intelligent but just not has intelligent has Jimi so he is still good to go.

You cannot take the party out of Jimi PDP is an evil party, you want Bode George, Koro to be having a field day in Lagos and since they ve lost the Presidency they will loot Lagos dry to keep their Party going, they will triple your taxes, alot of Lawlessness will be back to Lagos, all the projects Fashola started Will be stopped.
4. Yes Tinubu is the God-father in lagos bt he has always had that insight to choose good and brilliant leaders.
5. If Jimi has contested under LP, Accord or even AD he would have stood a better chance. PDP is a bad idea.
6.Remember if APC is re-elected in Lagos development will be smooth in Lagos because of FG support and all Fashola's uncompleted projects will see the light of the day.

Despite the fact Amechi is APC, Rivers is still PDP to the core. You can't just walk into any of the riverine villages or the interior local governments in rivers and convince them to vote for Buhari. Buhari was lucky to get even up to 50k votes in Rivers.

Let's even forget the figure APC got nothing changed that figure is to close to believe that that amount of pple turned out to vote. 1million plus would have still been reasonable not this 1.5million plus with Card readers having problems, instability in the state, many getting killed, Election Result sheets been hoarded and not pasted, the state still had the largest voters turn out in the country massive rigging.

Even though am a Buhari Fan bt the Elections in Rivers am sure was rigged with reasons.
1.Kano has 4.1 million PVC collected and abt 2.2million voted with 1.9million in favour of APC and 200,000+ for PDP
2. Rivers has 2.1million PVC collected and abt 1.5million voted wit 1.4million+ in favour of PDP and 69,000+ for APC. so therefore Rivers state has the highest voters in the country with abt say 71% turn up as against less than 50% in each states in the entire country.
3. We all know that Northerners always have the highest turn out as against southerners in Elections in Nigeria because of our lackadaisical attitude in the South.
