Hi Ibkaye. Nice to have you in here ![]() |
*Wags fingers at Eldee and says "Be careful. Don't lose your 'legendary' status with me o"* |
El, even Em can't mess around with Tupac's babies - Outlaws. Check these out: Don't be caught in the publicity and caught in the hype Rappers are regular people minus money and light Searching for fortune and fame, and super stardom All the jewelry, all the cars, whose crew is the hardest. Now the hip-hop police, the villains is watching And kids think beef is the only option Outlaws born filthy, guilty as charged My memories of Khaddafi, but Makaveli lives on You think the industry is fun And no pity with guns And when your money is up Thats when your enemies come So if he died and came back Would he try to save rap? We needing a change, the drama remains I spent my whole life, fighting myself That I cant win so I'm inviting some help and every now and then I take rights from left Im still just like a kid, looking for stripes on my belt And that there is a fight in itself So I just pray and hope god Take a like to myself No matter how much I try (stay alive) I'm gunna die mad, still standing there in love with my pride Heard frivolous beats, we past that I'm trying to keep some income coming in And collect on my ass cap The rappers in the game aint changed And I finally realized that we not in the same game The hating will never end, so I guess I'll deal wit it Them 4-5 with cop killers, just some steel wit it The streets is military, you gotta be a soldier Gotta stay leery and keep your eyes on the rollers As they do what they gotta do to shackle and hold us So we gotta do what we gotta do to keep rolling One way at a time, keep the faith in your mind and we continue growin, Then come back and tell me Em stole the show. Which show? ![]() |
You're completely wrong dawg. Em did a song with a dead man. So he had to give his best. But even then, you still can't compare his ish with Pac's: Sometimes its hard to wake up in the morning Mind full of demons, I don't wanna hear them anymore Got me heartbroken, fine, so many babies screaming Cause they seeing destruction before they a see human being So they start smoking weed, we'll never get our day Until we learn to pray, keep our families in shape Cause they all broke. and why do ghetto birds die Before we learn to fly, some bodies else's child caught in guns Smoking weed, can all make a change So I'm told, but I haven't seen the change unfold, I keep hoping please, if you prefer to breathe, Communities in need of people that will lead Keep your eyes open, I can only say I'll try Until the day I die, I promise to be wise With my heart open, greed, brings only misery A way to tragedy, so I stay sucker free Only a few chosen, rise (rise) My ghetto queen, rise (rise) Don't be afraid to try (try) Too many of us died to the door to open wide My brother be wise, stay focused on the prizeThough everybody dies We can, Em only tried to out-do a dead man's verses. And he failed dawg. Check out those words from Pac in bold print. Then come back and tell me Em's 'There will never be another me' ish is better than all that. *Who doesn't know there will never be another me, you, him anyway?* I just enjoyed Em's flow. But Tupac as usual, taught lessons on that track dawg ![]() |
First, Get Money *Biggie said it* (you'll need to settle those hungry and impoverished DJs and presenters). Record a danceable song. Then, hype. Make a lot of noise (in the media). Get a big bros backing. E.g Don Jazzy to D'banj (doesn't matter if you're not very talented, in fact you need little talent). Quality Video. Maybe borrow a leaf from those P-Queer boys and include a lot of babes shaking their you-know-what *even when it's obvious you're singing rubbish*. That's for musical artistes. And that's Naija scene. But dude, the most important is Get Money. I can't emphasize that enough. |
Em was phenomenal on that track but it was still Pac's track . You can't beat Pac on his track, his lyrics are out of this world. You just spoke like an oracle. |
Yo El, I guess you'll also fall for Em in Biggie's Dead Wrong. I almost fell for him on One Day At A Time but on tha deeper level, Pac floored him. Maybe Em was only better on the hip side. |
Em as usual rode on that beat. Agreed, he ripped it. But Pac hit me harder dawg. Consider his opening verse: Sometimes it's hard, to wake up in the morning mind full o' demons I don't wanna hear them anymore Em tried but Pac was Untouchable man. |
Nahh Eldee, haba |
Abi ooo ![]() A-40, you're damn funny, what a mismatch!!! ![]()
|
*quickly exits before speaking his mind* No be for my mouth dem go hear say teacher mama do pai ![]() |
Cranberries - Zombie *Funny how it keeps undulating btw rap & others* ![]() |
Until The End of Time - 2pac |
Miss U - Biggie |
Hmmm, Nas is deep yeah. What about "Dance"? (song for his late mom. Those horns/strings at the end of tha song were heart-rending). |
Literally speaking, Biggie's the best - in terms of artistry. Tupac is the greatest - in terms of legacy, lyrics, mass appeal You can describe the others with whatever adjectives you like ![]() |
Yes na. What other better emotional rapper is there apart from Pac? His voice is always emotion-laden. Fela Kuti - Unknown Soldier ![]() |
Gone Till November - Wyclef Cranberries - Daffodil Lament |
Sade - By your side *How could I miss that?* Seal - Kiss From A Rose |
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - "Tha Crossroads" Mary J. Blige feat. Methodman - "You're All I Got" (later Biggie's "My Downfall") Don't know why but to deviate from the rap trend I got all up there, "Fantasy" by Mariah Carey always gives me emotional shivers. |
Pac's Still I Rise always appears on my Top DMX's "Slipping" ![]() R. Kelly's "Heaven I Need A Hug" ![]() More to come. |
You're right on that. I also get to like one or two songs of an album but I'll mos def buy an album if I like 4 out of say 15 tracks. If a song's so good it casts a spell on me, I go to them DJs and do my selection or mix jeje ![]() You mean you stayed in a beach house or sumn? Wonderful experience that was. |
Hated "It Don't Matter" from the word go. I refused to buy the album cos of that song. Just like all other artistes, it seems his style kinda changed with time. Dude evolved from the sorrowful era of "Ghetto", "Locked Up"*didn't really feel that anyway* "Trouble Nobody" et al into the club-banging era of "Belly Dancer" and stuff. So, how was life on the beach - for 2 months? ![]() |
Really the guy was silly yo. Better songs like urm, "Ghetto", "Lonely", "It Don't Matter"? Generally, I just prefer the sorrowful side of the guy. He pisses me off when he tries to do party stuff like "Belly Dancer", "AK (Gunshot)", "Smack That". Methinks his voice is better suited for sad songs. |
@poster TUPAC is obviously one of the greatest rap musiciansPoint of correction; TUPAC is obviously the greatest rap musician in history. |
lol iice, maybe it's cos the reason for that song was his misbehaviour ![]() |
Poster, I love the point you're trying to make here but methinks you should try and be more expressive, i.e. express yourself better. Back to post, all those songs are a waow!!! on the emotional side of things but on the very deeper level, I'll eliminate "Two Wrongs", then "Hope" *man, that was really difficult for me though, I just closed my eyes and did the darn thing*. It's a close tie between "Blame It On Me" and "Runaway Love" but I think Akon's soulful voice/tone on that track would arrest your mind, soul, heart and spirit at first hearing, even before you listen to the lyrics *that silly guy* |
The guy's a clown ![]() |
What sort of nonsensical question is this ![]() Tuface and D'banj Poster, let this be the last time such an offensive question would pop out from your By the way, Tuface I know, but who is D'banj ![]() Is he a comedian ![]() |
@poster I understand what you're trying to say. A lot of these artistes *like the group you mentioned* don't make sensible music. Then they cover it up with some so-called expensive video, and which has to be shot outside the shores of Nigeria. A lot of artistes still remember our roots anyway. I like Rugged's video for Ruggedy Baba for example. And that's why I like 9ice in general. Anyone who listens to that guy's lyrics would know that his videos would definitely reflect his deep thots, culture, proverbs and wisecracks. Your video is a true reflection of your music, your lyrics, your ingenuity. Bottom line is - Be real, be original. |
