In 1976, the Christian population
numbered 168,593 people, mostly
Armenians. Due to the Iran-Iraq war in the
1980s and the dissolution of the Soviet
Union in the 1990s, almost half of the
Armenians migrated to the newly
independent Republic of Armenia.
However, the opposite trend has occurred
since 2000, and the number of Christians
with Iranian citizenship increased to
109,415 in 2006. At the same time,
significant immigration of Assyrians from
Iraq has been recorded due to massacres
and harassment in post-Saddam Iraq.
However, most of those Assyrians in Iran

PoliticsYayale Resigns From Presidential Committee by bappahman(op): 9:09am On Nov 13, 2013
Following the refusal of the Federal
Government to provide the requisite funds
for the Presidential Committee of Experts
on Interprofessional Relationship in the
Public Sector, six months after its
inauguration, former Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Alhaji
Ahmed Yayale, has resigned his position
as the Chairman of the committee.
In a letter to the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius
Anyim, dated 7 November, 2013, Yayale
lamented the non fulfillment of a promise
made to the committee by the SGF in
reaction to the committee’s earlier appeal
for funds to be made available.
“It is about two weeks today since I
received your letter No. SGF.6/C./31 of
25th October,2013 in response to my
appeal regarding the funding of the above
mentioned committee. In particular,
paragraph 3 of your letter under reference
assured me of your effort to ‘provide the
committee with the needed funds for its
activities within the shortest possible time.
It is regrettable to observe that nothing was
heard since then.”
The former Head of Service of the
Federation also stated that the lapse of the
time given to the committee to fulfil its
functions contributed to his decision to
resign because it was impossible to fulfil
an assignment which requires eight weeks
within 11 days.
“The Secretary to the Government of the
Federation may also wish to note that it is
only 11 days remaining within the period of
eight weeks during which we are expected
to submit our report. This you will agree
falls within the realm of impossibilities.
From my experience, it does appear that
the committee has not been accorded the
required support to succeed,” he said.
Yayale, whose acceptance of the
appointment as Chairman of the committee
in a letter from the SGF dated September
13, 2013, was influenced by the high
regard he had for President Jonathan,
commended the efforts of the President in
providing a conducive work atmosphere for
all professionals in the public sector., while
appealing that the President’s efforts
should not be jeopardized.
In announcing his resignation from the
committee, one of whose major objectives
is to ensure effective health care delivery
system to the nation, Yayale stated “I am
therefore left with no better option but to
convey my resignation as the Chairman of
the Committee and allow you to appoint a
replacement who may attract more
attention than my person in order to realise
the good intention of Mr. President.”
The former SGF, who also worked under
President Jonathan, thanked the President
for considering him worthy of handling the
national assignment.

barcanista: lol... So Oyinlola, Agagu, Osoba, Adefarati, Akala, Ohiakim, and all other incumbents that lost had All the LGA chairs and all appointees on their side. Even Muazu couldn't win senate seat as an incumbent governor.

Let me give you a practical example, Gov Boni Haruna of Adamawa defected frm Pdp to AC in 2006 along with VP Atiku. Opposition danced skelewu, but after election PDP Nyako won the seat by LANDslide.

In political electioneering, what's important is not who controls the government but who controls political structures.

Amaechi as at today controls d government but I can boast that he doesn't control the structure in his Ikwerri.
He is a political cripple in Rivers State

I will educate you all more in 2015...
I may support APC but I salute ur constructive criticism nd examples, that's hw it should be no insults

Rivers state belongs.”

APC, there is an alternative platform and
there is a balance of power.
“APC means Aspirin, Panadol, Codeine.
When you have strong headache, you take
these drugs.
“APC also means Armoured Personnel
Carrier. You use it to move forward when
yeye police stop you.”
UPDATE 7: Buhari: “We are here to seek
understanding and support from you through
your leader, Governor Amaechi. I worked
with one of your greatest assets, Prof Tam
David West.
“Nigeria is at a crossroad and that is why we
decided to come together to rescue this
country from destruction. We must get
