I've worked in a one man business setting of which I only chose to work with him to gain experience onto the next level.
I didn't have in plan to stay with him more than a year but was surprised he gave me ID card of 4years validity. I was working on a salary of 20k while tfare was 16k monthly. I told my mum I was going to quit, my mum told our neighbour what I was going through, my neighbour told his friend (my boss) that I was reporting the happening to my people.
My Boss Said to me an unforgettable statement: that he can not help anyone that doesn't serve him, that I want to get knowledge without suffering, that I'm a thief.
I told him I won't be coming by December ending. By Friday 14th December 2017 I told him I won't be around that I needed to attend to an issue, which was to collect Ogun state Civil Service form and I was unable to get back to work the same day. By Monday 17th December 2017,I got to office, he requested for my ID card and office key I gave them to him, he then told me to leave without paying a dime... I humbly and honorably carried my bag and left his small rented space.

Take a look at sections 13(5) of the tenancy laws of Lagos 2011. There are always exceptions to the law.

It is arguable but as per the decided case of JOYLAND v. WEMABOD ESTATES LTD. A rent from April to April is 12months and not 13months

I live in Lagos and I pay my own rent.
Tenancy in Nigeria is for 12 full months unless otherwise (in situations where the parties involved have different agreements).
That is the reason why most landlords prefer January to December rate/calculation.

Unfortunately folks like you are those that shout "lawyers are liars" around town. He made his input you've refused to see any logic in it, do any extra research about it, placed a call or two to any other lawyer. You just started attacking the man and the Nigerian Legal System.
No one is a encyclopedia of knowledge but that you pay your rent or live in a Lagos or where ever for that matter does not give you the temerity to attack a person who is licenced to practice law anywhere in Nigeria.

I disagree with you. From the illustration, it is a yearly tenancy which can only be determined or brought to an end by a valid quit notice which in this case is the statutory quit notice (6 months).

Im sure you are conversant with tenancy for a 'fixed term' if that clause was inserted in the agreement it is an escape route for the landlord see sections 13(5), 24 & 26 tenancy laws of Lagos.

No one has the right to self help. Even if you are in arrears or owes rent of 10 years, your Landlord do not have the right to lock you apartment. Doing so makes him liable in damages.
If truly, your rent was paid on the 18th of April 2019, then your rent will fall due on the 17th of April 2020.
Unless their is an agreement between you and your Landlord, he cannot successfully evict you without giving you the statutory 6 months notice.
Rest assured, your Landlord cannot evict you but only reacting to the frustration ocassioned by the lockdown.

If you don't have any intention of leaving the house, pay him ASAP.
BUT if you do, you're entitled to 6 months extension with no payment.

Hmmmm. He is not entitled to it o. Wait until you see the tenancy agreement he signed if in fact he signed any. If the lawyer drafted his tenancy agreement as an agreement for a "fixed term" then that nullifies that 6months extension story. The lawyer after serving you a quit notice can get a 7days order from the court notifying your of his intention to recover the premises, after the expiration of the 7days will lawfully throw the tenant out.
The best thing is for him to seek the advice of a lawyer though.

I did bestman for a friend and I was in my hotel room relaxing and didn't know wedding was about to start. When I was called and started hurrying, my zipper got spoilt.

Lots of dramas though. One notable one was that of a friend that was supposed to travel to a neighbouring town for his wedding. Bought everything needed but refused to go for his wedding .
