Nigerians owe Asiwaju Bola Tinubu a debt of gratitude. The country was heading towards a disaster. most Nigerians were fed up with the Jonathan administration. The indispensable contribution of Jagaban made it possible for Jonathan to be removed. As we can all see now from the fight against Boko Haram to the war on corruption election has consequences. It is not a game.it matters who our president is.For the Jagaban haters facts are stubborn and a major fact is that Nigeria is different now.We can also see that Lagos state is on the right track. Our hope is that by the time the budget is implemented Nigerians will be glad they voted for president Buhari. |
Extremely sad! it is amazing to see students desperate to get educated even with the negative pressure of boko haram, some of them in hijab. This will surprise some Nigerians who think wrongly that our people from the North don't embrace western education. These are the future of Nigeria. These are people that will resist the evil ideologies of the terrorists. It is disheartening to note that the governing class has not made it easy for these students to learn. They will rather send their kids abroad to school spending over $2 billions last year doing that.It is also unfortunate to see that some Nigerians still fail to see the connection of corruption, fraud, waste and abuse in creating this terrible situation.President Buhari and EFCC should be strongly encouraged rather than being vilified in their war against this cancer. |
This is incredible if implemented. It shows the commitment of the Buhari government to the the socioeconomic conditions of Nigerians. This is why elections matter. sometimes because we have been so battered we accept the status cuo.we say its all a game.we lose hope. we learn to believe that our lives can't be better whereas all that's required is to get the right leadership.Any government that keeps the promise made to the people will be well rewarded by the citizenry. |
This is very impressive . Nigerians know that their government is corrupt and that there is a lot of waste fraud and abuse but most people don't know the extent. Now that there is some transparency we can see how destructive this situation is.President Buhari needs to remain focused and tune out the Buhari haters and know that millions of Nigerians are rooting for him.We cannot continue on that wrong track otherwise even generations unborn will be doomed to failure. |
Once again this shows how pervasive corruption is Nigeria. It is a cancer that has metastasized into every fabric of Nigerian life. The Buhari government should be highly commended for the willingness to fight this scourge at all levels. Our hope is that suspects are fully prosecuted and severely punished if found guilty. |
The economist like any other journal is entitled to its opinion which may not be correct .President Buhari was elected because Nigerians were unhappy about the direction the country. He inherited Boko Haram, a cesspool of corruption, high unemployment and bad economy. Many objective observers believe that the government is doing well in the war against Boko Haram and has started to clamp down on corruption. The budget has a lot programs which will increase employment and improve the economy. The reason to restrict imports is to give incentive to local manufacturers .Fiscal currency policy is dynamic and dependent on income, demand for foreign exchange and foreign reserve. This will remain an ongoing concern for the administration .It is unfair to say that president Buhari is bad for the economy when his economic policies are yet to be implemented. |
For Nigerians living abroad or who have traveled outside this shows how much these Nigerian artists have done to improve our image. It is so uplifting to watch non Nigerians listen and dance to Nigerian music all over the world. In an era when the political class have been busy embezzling billions they created a new genre of music that transcends age, language, tribe and religion. It is our hope that now that there is a lot of foreign interest they pay a high legal attention to the contracts they sign.Good luck Davido! |
For those who feel that these probes are not necessary or biased this is another example of the level of theft of our resources.Though these are allegations .Even for a country accustomed to corruption Nigerians are shocked at the level of theft being revealed. It will be gross negligence for any government not to look into these. Our people must understand that when an individual steals from us that person is depriving not only all of us but also our children a better life. The Buhari government should be encouraged not vilified. |
Nigerians are blessed to have citizens like our fearless Femi Falana who are so courageous as to challenge the status quo. This is an essential ingredient of democracy. Corruption has a devastating impact on human development leading to persistent poverty, ignorance and disease. What is Dr Okonjo-Iweala afraid of of ?.These are allegations. They should be thoroughly investigated and strongly prosecuted according to the rule of law. The defendant deserves a fair hearing and rigorous defense in a court of law. If found guilty should face the full weight of the law.End of story. |
Subsidy regime should be a great social program but like many social programs is prone to abuse.ours became a cesspool of corruption where a lot people made billions of naira and average person didn't benefit much. They still sell petroleum products above the control price and you still have long lines.Thats why many Nigerians called for the elimination of subsidies. The Buhari government has promised to use the savings to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians in other areas.with time we will have the opportunity to evaluate this promise. |
The Hon minister alhaji Lai Mohammed is on point as usual much to the chagrin of his detractors a lot of whom don't understand or are in denial of the negative impact of corruption on development. The enlightenment campaign will help. Our people need to know that when they participate or enable corruption they are taking away the needed resources for national development. |
This exchange situation will be beneficial long-term.It is sad that these phones are not manufactured in Nigeria. The sellers should convince the makers to produce them in Nigeria even if they start with assembly plants. The prices will be lower and Nigerians will be employed. |
This is great news and exactly what the country needs. This is what happens when you have a government that not only understands our reality but has solutions to our problems. The importers should encourage the foreign manufacturers they buy from to come set up plants in Nigeria rather than lobbying our government to do their bidding. |
I know it's hard for some of us not to be partisan. What the Hon minister means is that our total reliance on oil has been bad for Nigeria. There is a lot of foreign exchange that can be generated from agriculture.we won't have to import food.we would have a huge foreign reserve hence a good exchange rate to the dollar. He should be commended not vilified.our hope is that this policy is aggressively implemented. |
This is great for Lagos and Nigeria as lagos becomes the main destination for Africa.Lagos is also being run by governor Ambode who is putting in place projects that will ensure that Lagos plays this role. For the Jagaban Tinubu haters lagosians know that as an amazing visionary he put the foundation for this in place and we are now seeing the results. Long live the Lion of Bourdillon. |
This man does not understand that the post of governor comes with prestige and the way he comports himself in office matters. He does not serve the good people of Ekiti well with his negative image. He says he can't be ignored but his oral diarrhea could not stop millions of Nigerians from electing president Buhari. He says he can bring the presidency down I think it is delusional to think Ekiti state is Nigeria. He says Buhari will fail whereas objective analysts opine that Buhari has done more on corruption and boko haram within a short time than GEJ.He should spend more time governance not insulting the president. |
These international rankings are good in the sense of presenting a reality check to Nigerians especially some people who out of sentiment tend to find no fault in the previous administration and persistently critical of the Buhari government that is trying to change these poor indices. The hope of the average Nigerian is that the president remains resolute and focussed and we will all be better off. |
It so sad to see how our children in some parts of the country been so deprived of education.I salute the government for coming up with innovative way (free school meals) of getting the parents to let kids attend schools. The children are our future. When our youth are educated and employed they are not likely to join Boko haram and other terrorist groups |
The state of mind of this man is reflected by the lack of knowledge of the link between corruption and food, education, health and infrastructure. The gross lack of appreciation that after 16 years of decadence Nigerians decided to try another hand, president Buhari.Rather than blaming the people who stole our money he is blaming the president who is trying to improve the plight of Nigeria.Only in Nigeria. |
We shall continue to pray for our president Buhari that Allah continues to bless him with good health and the strength to fulfill his mission of turning Nigeria around. |
Nigerians are skeptical but I believe by the time the corruption trials start and those found guilty are jailed people will see that president Buhari is serious about killing corruption.EFCC needs to carefully put the evidences together and mount strong prosecution so that the criminals don't get off. |
The statement from the Nation newspaper is self explanatory. For all the Tinubu haters the election was 2015 let's all come together to support this government for sake of Nigeria and her future. |
We appreciate the fact that lagos state is experienced with dealing with an epidemic.I recall that the lagos state ministry of health got a lot of praise for the handling of Ebola.I am positive this lassa fever virus will be curtailed. |
Leadership is about being cool headed and having a steady hand.We don't need to panic. Let's be patient. When the budget is passed and implemented then we can properly evaluate the Buhari government. The cabinet is mixture of diverse backgrounds it also has technocrats let's give them some time before we start condemning them. |
Do not misunderstand the APC National Chairman he meant that nobody could have predicted that oil will fall to $26.We didn't save for this raining day.We have more demand for $US than what we make, that's why exchange rate is going down. All he is saying is that this present challenge should pressure us to diversify so that we can have less imports and more non-oil exports. This budget addresses this issue and President Buhari is committed to implementing the budget. |
The Buhari government has been able to improve Nigeria's image within a short time.Thats why there is a lot of interest in Nigeria like never before.Thats the change we were promised. |
Lagos is working under Ambode for the naysayers you ain't seen nothing yet wait shortly to see the new flyovers, rail lines and roads soon to be completed |
A lot of credit to the Buhari government if the previous govt left a high foreign reserve that would cushion the fall in oil price and it won't be necessary to source for money to fund the budget now. |
It is sad that he wants to show that he cares but his responsibility is to provide health for his people not showmanship |
The Oni is going on a national thank you tour.It is only appropriate to start with his home state governor.so if you say he was showing gratitude for the support he got that is in line with youruba culture.end of story. |
