Sheesh! What length wouldn't these okoroforkers go, eh?
This something else I can't understand. There are over 200 tribes in Nigeria with 10s of millions of people, and yet when anyone dares question anything yoruba, you go ranting igbo this igbo that. Do u delusionally believe that everyone in Nigeria loves yorubas except igbos?

They published similar nonsense last week where even in the same article with their unsubstantiated lies, the said they didn't have any confirmation to back up their lies, but the idiots still went ahead and put their fish smelling and bogus story out there anyway.

And you are not Yoruba simply because not too many Yoruba people are this senseless to be running around with fake stories
Are you for real?? So all Yoruba people are born smart?! Boy are you living in denial.

Ricky_Ross: How does Nigerian music become very popular in Ghana? http://ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=257945&comment=0#com

How does Nigerian music become very popular in Ghana while Ghanaian music remains contraband commodity in the former’s country? This is a big question that requires serious necropsy by entertainment pundits.

Give or show a Nigerian movie to the average Ghanaian in the 90’s and he or she will spurn it. At that time, Ghanaians loved Ghanaian movies to Nigerian movies. Starting the new millennium, Ghana was deluged with an influx of Nigerian movies. The table then turned; Ghanaians developed a strong predilection for Nigerian movies and ever since, have not looked back.

In the 90’s, rarely would one hear a Nigerian song being played on radio. By the year 2004, Nigerian songs or music started gaining foot in Ghana and ever since, Nigerian songs have steadily become popular in Ghana and Nigerian artistes for that matter, have also become popular as well.

A colleague art writer went to Nigerian recently to cover an entertainment event and after his return, narrated his observations on the Nigerian music industry. He said barely would one hear a Ghanaian song being played on radio.

The only Ghanaian songs he heard being played was songs produced by VIP and R2Bs. Kesse, the male vocalist of this year’s Vodafone Ghana music awards after participating in the ‘project fame’ music reality show in Nigeria, returned to also say he never heard any Ghanaian song played on any medium for the period he spent there.

Currently, Nigerian songs or music have very popular and so are their artistes in Ghana. Nigerian songs have become so popular that some Ghanaian musicians even copy their lyrics, accent, composition, songs or style of song engineering. Ghana and Nigerian are not enemies; neither is this feature attempting to brew an unhealthy competition or antagonism between them.

It wouldn’t have become an issue of discussion or to worry about if Nigerian music are popular in Ghana and Ghanaian music are also popular or doing creditably well in the latter’s country.

The facts on the grounds are that Nigerian songs are far popular in Ghana than Ghanaian music is in Nigeria. This is a big challenge to our music industry because Nigeria has a bigger market Ghana can tap into. It’s obvious the media in Ghana is the main tool that has made Nigerian songs popular in Ghana but the questions that require answers are; how do the Nigerians influence our media for their songs to become popular in Ghana? Is it that they pay ‘fat payola’ to the Ghanaian media than the Ghanaian musicians?

Do they have special agents here who do promotions for them? And why are Ghanaian songs not that popular in Nigeria? Could they (Nigerians) be sabotaging our music on their soil? Or is Nigerian music better than Ghanaian music?

MUSIGA must come in on this issue on a way to make Ghanaian music popular in Nigeria. MUSIGA can propose a treaty with the Nigerian music union to promote Ghanaian music there. The Nigerian population is big and that gives them a bigger market than Ghana.

However, I certainly don’t think any measure such as banning Nigerian songs in Ghana is or will be a panacea. We must be tactful.
Having more Nigerians in Ghana than you have Ghanaians in Nigeria must be a big factor.

Having said that, I don't think Nigerian music dominates to the extent u have described.

Input: My question here is that like 10 or 15years ago would the girl even allow the guy come any close to her?
She wouldn't have let him get any close to her because, 10 or 15yrs ago, the guy would have probably been bouncing around in a durag and dungarees with one leg folded up. Besides, the r Kelly lyrics toasting would have been a big no no!
RomanceRe: Who Says Age Is Not A Problem In A Relationship? by basher(m): 12:49am On Nov 30, 2012
dayokanu: Na women dey shift the goalpost as they wish

If a 19yr old boy goes to ask a 25yr old girl She would remember the age difference and decline

But 10yrs down the line if both parties are still unmarried the story would change to age is just a number.

At 19-20 you would hear girls saying I cant date my agemates. 10yrs down the line we hear age is just a number
But they are correct because most 19-20yr old boys are very immature and cannot be relied on to take on serious responsibilities or respond to things in a mature way(too much testosterone). A 19 year old girl, even 17, will run circles around him emotionally. We are not talking about bravado or swag here.
RomanceRe: Who Says Age Is Not A Problem In A Relationship? by basher(m): 12:42am On Nov 30, 2012
martyns303: 10yrs is like a generation gap, while a 35yr old man is thinking about growing in his career, a 25yr old girl is likely thinking about clubing, there wont be effective communication as their ideas and perception are different and the worst thing a man can do is be in a union with someone who do not share is objectives.
Generally, females are more emotionally mature than men. You've actually got it the wrong way round. A 35yr old guy will probably will still be going clubbing and hanging out with his guys, while a 25yr old woman will probably be busy looking after home & kids or seriously looking to get married.

Why shouldn't they get paid? Doesn't the pastor or general overseer get paid? Wouldn't it be more humane & charitable to pay these struggling people a salary so they can survive instead of lavishing the pastor with private jets, posh cars and other luxuries beyond the wildest dreams of the ordinary church member?

PapaBrowne: About Nigeria not being on the list, it is not so much the failure of Government as it is the failure of the people.

We as a people haven't being able to create innovative products that the globe needs. We are coming up slowing in the arts and entertainment area. If we produce optimally, the world would buy our goods and services and we would get richer for it whether or not we have bad government!!

If we have more entrepreneurs that think like Dangote, instead of our numerous importer types, then we would be getting closer to prosperity.
To put things in better perspective lets take a country like Switzerland. Population- 8 Million.

Switzerland's productivity is visible in the kind of companies that populate the land.
Food- Nestle- Revenues for 2011- 80 Billion Dollars-
Pharmaceuticals- Roche- $34 Billion Novartis- $37 Billion
Finance- UBS- $107 Billion Credit Suisse- $89 Billion
And the list goes on and on. Lets not forget Swatch($6 Billion) the world's largest watch maker and Rolex($5 Billion)the world's largest luxury watch maker.

Switzerland(8 Million People) has 15 Fortune500 companies as against Austria(8.4 Million People) which has just 1. Both countries have some of the best governments in the world, but Switzerland has more entrepreneurial citizens and as a result a better productive output than Austria.

Wealth of a nation is not so much a function of who is in government as it is a function of the nature of the citizens.
If Nigeria much be prosperous, we must embrace entrepreneurship, not that import export type, but the type that seeks to create value out of the most infinitesimal of things.
Nor mind d yeye 9ja people! Instead of them to be innovative, Dem go dey use their tashere money dey import range rover and bombardier jet. Mumu people nor no say all their crass flexing Na heavy hammering for all these other countries!

Thanks, I was born in Lagos and I knw how difficult it was for an average Nigerian.
the problem with peeps here, is that they dnt know how other Nigerians are struggling to survive.
I've a friend in Lagos that didn't believe people are suffering in Nigeria because his mum
earns 1.2m in a month.
This the problem with some Nigerians, they think Lagos=Nigeria! Lagos is only one state in Nigeria for chrissakes.

Besides, =N=1.2m Net pay (about £4.5k) is what some train drivers earn in the UK in a month. If your friend's mum was to be taxed correctly and had to pay correct rates and a living wage to all her domestic staff; how much would she be left with?

You hit the nail on the head there in the bolded. All you need to do is think about the "average Nigerian" and compare with the average citizen of those other countries. It's a very grim life for the average Nigerian, and I'm not talking about the 'average person living in Lagos' here.

So you think "diasporan brothers (& sisters)" don't have a stake or say in Nigeria? I wonder why some people sit down and just type cra.p?!

I don't have stats or figures to hand, but I'm sure by the time you do your research you'll find out that proceeds from diasporan "slavery" remitted back to Nigeria must rank very high in the list of foreign exchange earnings into Nigerian economy (behind crude oil). Haven't you ever asked yourself that (and this is probably a topic for another thread), apart from oil, what brings in money from abroad into the FG's coffers? I'm not talking about taxes, rates, duties etc which is earned from money which is already in the Nigerian economy that has already come from crude oil revenues. I mean, apart from oil & gas, what else does Nigeria sell to other countries that brings billions of dollars into the economy?

First it was Akon, then crack head Bobby brown, then big Mac Rick Ross ( although he is making it), and now Keri hilson who hasn't has a major hit in like 2 years.

Nigeria wake up and stop loading dollars into the hands of foreign artists who arent relevant.
Just enjoy it while it lasts Cuz it ain't gonna last for ever. The recession will pass (it always does), crude oil prices will fall & apala/highlife/Fuji/juju music will take over again.

People then will find it hard to believe that there was once a time when international artists were pure water in Nigeria & local artists were rolling in Bentleys, Aston martins & range rovers!
