PoliticsRe: PhD, MBA Holders Apply As Truck Drivers At Dangote Group by basher(m): 1:04am On Nov 04, 2012
ayodele123: I agree that the graduates who applied are all failed minds, not that Nigeria is a failed country.
An MBA holder ought to set up his own business at the worst, not to apply to be a truck driver.
It is more honorable to set up a liquid soap production business with N10k than the trucking job they are applying for.
They went to school and graduated with the orientation that they must work for someone. That is the common problem in Nigeria.
A PHD applying for a trucking job? Shame on them all, failures!
When I read comments like this, I understand y Nigeria is so messed up. Who designated one job more honourable than another? Rubbish!!

No it's not. Yes there is lack of infrastructure and hardly any government presence there, but there are loads of millioniares doing business there and there are better looking parts than this. Heck, it's not even a state capital but there are loads of state capitals, including Lagos, with places like that in those pictures.

I tire for this nairaland and their pointless bias!!

Is this the excuse you give her when you go limp in the middle of a "hot session"? You were thinking of why she likes it that way and the person who made her like it?? Carry on like that and one day that person will come from the past and give her what she's been missing!! Who knows, it might be me wink

RomanceRe: True Facts About Virgins by basher(m): 9:48am On Oct 23, 2012
lovelydoll: i will like to lay down some facts ,that some of you people may not know, even thought we were all virgins before/

1. Virgins are not clueless about sex, (we know about it ,probably even more than you).

2. Virginity doesn't mean your Holy. Some people just do not want to get laid .(yet they are capable of stealing, lying and doing every other sin in the bible.)

3.Virginity doesn't mean i will not like to show off my body.(Hey i like to dress sexy, with tight ,short clothes, but that does not mean i will open my legs for you.)

4.Virginity does not mean i am ugly,( i just don't feel like sleeping with you without a commitment).

5.virgins are strong ,( the will to say no to temptation is very hard)

6.virgins are proud.

7.virgins can laugh at and tell dirty jokes( i do that all the time)

8.Virgins do flirt, and play around.( doesn't mean i will open my legs for you, i just want to have a fun conversation).

9.most virgins do not have clean thoughts,(probably even worse then yours, because some of us wonder about sex all the time.)

10.Finally,virgins are awesome . grin

so if your planning to date one keep these things in mind, were not in the 18th century where virgins were covered and holy, were in the 21 century where people can be who they want to be. wink
I've dated "Virgins" in d past who won't let u in the front but will gladly take it through the "hmm hmm hmm hmm", let u go down on them and will give u d best BJ ever! Na dat 1 I dey call technical virgin.

The guy made some serious club bangers! If not for his music, no Timaya today. His music sounded like the product of a real musician to me. Not all these cut & paste beat makers who use 2 fingers to stab at keys as if the keyboard Will bite them.
Music/RadioRe: P-square Took May D’s Videos Off Youtube? by basher(m): 6:36pm On Aug 28, 2012
If MayD is no longer part of psquare's setup, then it makes sense that they remove his videos from their channel. Can anyone give me one good reason why they shouldn't have taken it down?

MayD is free to, and should put the video up on his own channel and show his own videos there. If there are costs to be settled regarding the making of the video, then he should sort it out or get his new label/sponsor to settle it.

P square's video for "no 1 like u" was taken down by the person in whose channel it was on YouTube even though it had over 10 million views. They had to start from square 1 (lol) by putting it in their own channel & the view count had to start from zero again!

So why should MayD's case be different? Haba!! How was thier act malicious? The guy no dey thier crew again, wetin u wan make dem do. How difficult is it to open YouTube account & put your own videos? Wetin come concern tribe for the matter? When 2face & kennis parted ways, did anybody bring tribe into the matter?

My take is:
a) Don't take it too seriously
b) don't have too much of your self-worth wrapped up in what some random anonymous people online say

just enjoy it (if you like this type of thing) or ignore it (if you don't).
Seconded!

You don't have to respond to everything Yoruba/Igbo. If you are sure & secure about yourself, then ignore it. Trust me, your day will be a lot better & the thread will eventually go away. Don't even click on the headline, no matter how inviting.

Try it for a month and see.

ndu_chucks: If is is not an Awo thread opened to bad mouth Yorubas, it is an Ojukwu thread designed to do the same to the Igbos.
If it is not a thread about armed robbers and kidnappers in Igboland, it is a thread about a Yoruba man who has killed his wife in a horific manner.

Enough of the crap, you people have become an embarassment to the rest of us. The funny thing is that I do not know a single Igbo man in real life who habours so much hatred for Yorubas or a Yoruba person with similar amount of hatred for Igbos. The Igbos I know want the same out of life and Nigeria as the Yorubas i.e. the betterment of Nigeria and a brighter future for their children.

The childishness is getting old and I appeal to you all to cut the crap.
You know what's going to happen here? This thread will probably degenerate into another bout of tribal bashing, the internet clicks will increase = more NL traffic = potentially more revenue.

The NL bigwigs (lol!) will be laughing even harder over thier proverbial bottles of beer etc etc etc.
CultureRe: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by basher(m): 12:04am On Aug 27, 2012
cuteonyii: yes superstition fades away as generation passes by because people came to reilase how unreal those believes are. The only people who tend to clinch on voodoo are the under developed countries who has refused to develope mentally, academically, technologically, and morally.
They hold onto these things because there is an industry surrounding it with all sorts feeding off it. From the common native doctor, palm reader, all the way up to the powerful bishop. It also favours the white man that we behave this way.
CultureRe: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by basher(m): 10:54pm On Aug 26, 2012
pro01: Bros you still did not clear one's doubts, as your assertions are speculative. There is no compelling evidence or proof that the points you made are objective and real. . .it's all about 'beliefs', which are entirely subjective.

Really? Are we sure that the difference between 'superstition' and science is that clear? I think it only becomes 'clear' when we gain knowledge and realise the formula for the lack thereof) behind what were hitherto considered mysteries. The White man has successfully demystified superstition by engaging in metaphysics and science, thereby reaching new frontiers of knowledge. Surely, this is not something that could have been achieved instantly; it had to be evolutionary, not revolutionary. That is why it might seem that the White man was very superstitious hundreds of years ago: it was a learning curve. . .they had to discover nature's secrets gradually and put them in a scientific form that could be replicated and reproduced easily. That is what we now call science/engineering/mechanics. I think it is 'jazz' nonetheless, just that this jazz has mostly been clarified and stored in formulae that are consistent, recyclable, explainable, and predictable. Unfortunately, I think this is where our African notions of superstition and voodoo fall short: if it is really possible, for instance, to 'disappear' in Lagos and 'reappear' in Kafanchan, then why not explain the formula that ANYONE can apply to achieve this, ceteris paribus? ? ? It shouldn't be so mysterious and inconsistent.
I quite agree with you. However, most of those wonders of modern day technology that you refer to as white man's jazz, did not come about as a result of the White man trying to decipher superstitions. They came about as a result of experimentation, problem solving, trying to improve something, trying to realize a dream or conviction.

European superstitions such as the belief that there was a formula or spell that could turn base metal into gold were pursued in vain. Fortunes were lost & people were conned, because it just wasn't true. Same goes for our famed African disappearing charm.
CultureRe: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by basher(m): 9:41pm On Aug 26, 2012
pro01: Frankly, that is why the White Man's 'Jazz' is superior to ours: it can be replicated; it is science. Inventions such as the aeroplane, television, mobile phone, the almighty Internet, and pretty much everything else the White Man has invented are probably more spiritual than mental/intellectual, but the fact that they enshrined these inventions in reproducible science - and put forth the formulae in ways anyone can learn how to replicate ceteris paribus makes Africans look like cavemen when we talk about this our 'superstitions' that are inconsistent and unscientific. In any case, with all our superstition, mere shiploads of drunken White expeditionists conquered entire African kingdoms, colonised them, and whisked them off in droves into slavery. Since these superstitions are supposedly real, why did the African warriors not 'disappear' or overwhelm the White invaders with their black voodoo? ? ?
There is a clear difference between science/engineering/mechanics etc. and superstitions. Remember that the white man had similar, if not worse, superstitions hundreds of years ago. Can't we just admit that these superstitions are just a sign of backwardness and ignorance? Am I mistaken in noticing that the more civilized you get; the less these superstition abounds irrespective of religion. In fact, religion actually feeds off it. Europeans were very superstitious when they were more religious.

cuteonyii: Hey guys, i'm not trying to offend any body here. But sometimes my friends finds it annoying when I tell them that I do not believe in the following.

1. That someone can make me appear on a mirror and cast a spell on me.
2. That someone can tie my destiny with my picture taken to some where.
3. That I can get ill when i walk over something buried under the earth or in front of my door.
4. That someone can changed baby in the womb to something else e.g stone, tortoise, etc.
5. That dead people can come out and hunt me.
6. I can see ghost.
7. That someone can get shot at and the bullet will not get into the body.
8. That Ritual will make money fill in your room.

Is not because of religion but just they way I grew up. I was born and raised in Africa for over 30 year i'm yet to get any prove for those stuff. I strongly believe in magics and poison, but when it comes to voodoo I do not believe in that.
I have actually seen people break, chew and swallow bottle when i was in Aba. But I call those stuffs magics because thats the only thing they could do all the time. I think we Africans call most things voodoo simply because we do not have explanations to them.
What do you believe??
I personally know people who have died because some herbalist had told them they could "chest" bullets. There are people out there who prey on the ignorance & gullibility of others. Just be careful; what u dont believe in can hardly affect you. This includes SATAN too.

Eko Ile: Again, this is about religious tolerance, not about your stupid preoccupation and desire to troll as usual.

Leave thread if you don't have anything better to contribute, its not by force to troll.
If you were so obsessed with keeping this discussion within the boundaries of religious tolerance, then you should have corrected "Alhaji Pastor" (and some other posters) when he transgressed. But you didn't, so you argument and supposed "witty" response is ineffective. Your open bias waters down any points you think you are making.

I responded directly to what other posters (who were not corrected) put up. My post therefore wasn’t off-topic, inflammatory or aimed at provoking an emotional response. Consequently, you can’t describe my actions as trolling!!
PoliticsRe: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by basher(m): 8:10pm On Aug 25, 2012
Eko Ile: I know reading and comprehension is new and strange to you at this stage of your elementary development, but this topic is about Yoruba and religious tolerance, not Yoruba people tolerating anything including hate and other ibo anti social behaviors.

People can tolerate and accept your religion, but they don't have to tolerate or put up with your mean and bad ways.
My reading and comprehension might be elementary, but it is not too elementary to understand the following post (which I initially reacted to) was not restricted to religious tolerance -

"Alhaji Pastor :
WE JUST HAVE TO GIVE IT TO THEM (YORUBA) I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY TRIBE THAT IS AS ACCOMODATING AS THE YORUBA, THESE ARE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT ARE SO CONTENTED WITH WHAT THEY HAVE, RELIGIOUS WISE; THEY ARE SO ACCOMODATING; I HAVE SEEN A FAMILY WHERE THE HUSBAND IS A MUSLIM AND THE WIFE IS A CHRISTIAN. I HAVE SEEN A FAMILY OF FOUR WHERE TWO ARE MUSLIM AND TWO ARE CHRISTIANS; AND THEY CO-EXIST PEACEFULLY. I BELIEVE IT REALLY HAS TO DO WITH THEIR CULTURAL VALUE. SOME OTHER TRIBES MAY TERM THEM AS BEING COWARD; BUT I TEND TO DISAGREE WITH THEM, YORUBAS ARE VERY BRAVE AND INTELLIGENT. AN AVERAGE YORUBA MAN WOULD ALLOW YOU TO POUR ABUSIVE WORD ON HIM AND LATER APOLOGIZE FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE. I MYSELF AM NOT A YORUBA MAN; BUT I'VE LIVED WITH THEM AND ALSO TASTED OTHER TRIBES IN NIGERIA, I GIVE IT TO THEM AND ANY DAY ANYTIME THEY EARN MY RESPECT."

Also, for someone who hates anti social behaviour, your statement "I know reading and comprehension is new and strange to you at this stage of your elementary development", beggars belief. Can't you make a point without being anti social?

Let me get this straight; Yorubas can tolerate anything except anti-social Igbo behavior? Is the tolerance discriminatory?
