PoliticsRe: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by basher(m): 2:44pm On Aug 25, 2012
Alhaji Pastor :
WE JUST HAVE TO GIVE IT TO THEM (YORUBA) I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY TRIBE THAT IS AS ACCOMODATING AS THE YORUBA, THESE ARE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT ARE SO CONTENTED WITH WHAT THEY HAVE, RELIGIOUS WISE; THEY ARE SO ACCOMODATING; I HAVE SEEN A FAMILY WHERE THE HUSBAND IS A MUSLIM AND THE WIFE IS A CHRISTIAN. I HAVE SEEN A FAMILY OF FOUR WHERE TWO ARE MUSLIM AND TWO ARE CHRISTIANS; AND THEY CO-EXIST PEACEFULLY. I BELIEVE IT REALLY HAS TO DO WITH THEIR CULTURAL VALUE. SOME OTHER TRIBES MAY TERM THEM AS BEING COWARD; BUT I TEND TO DISAGREE WITH THEM, YORUBAS ARE VERY BRAVE AND INTELLIGENT. AN AVERAGE YORUBA MAN WOULD ALLOW YOU TO POUR ABUSIVE WORD ON HIM AND LATER APOLOGIZE FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE. I MYSELF AM NOT A YORUBA MAN; BUT I'VE LIVED WITH THEM AND ALSO TASTED OTHER TRIBES IN NIGERIA, I GIVE IT TO THEM AND ANY DAY ANYTIME THEY EARN MY RESPECT.
I would like to see these qualities you've described displayed on the pages of NairaLand. Or are some of the Yorubas on NairaLand the wrong type of Yoruba?

PoliticsRe: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by basher(m): 11:45am On Aug 25, 2012
Sisi_Kill: I can't believe this is even up for discussion. I mean isn't it a given that the Yorubas are more tolerant and not just in religion. They have a healthy respect for other people's culture too.

The Yorubas have a live and let live attitude about life and it is because they are so secure in who they are, there is no fear about the other person. . .culture, religion, tribe trying to ride over them. Unfortunately this is also their undoing because it makes them come off as wishy washy and "cultureless" to those who believe strongly that anything outside their tribe is subpar.
I didn't observe that "live and let live" attitude in this thread - https://www.nairaland.com/1023852/answers-common-questions-igbo-people/19#11893717

Sisi_Kill: Oh this just reminded me of the LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Story.

The Average Nigerian is Little Red Riding Hood and the FG is. . .well you guesed it - The BIG BAD WOLF!!

Little Red Riding Hood - Oh my! FG, What BIG bill this is!! shocked shocked

Big Bad - Why. . .All the better to steal more from you with less hassle!!! cool cool

Anyway, this doesn't come as a suprise. . .the whole Ghana Must Go bag thingy was sooooo outdated!! Why they still haven't considered wire transfers to offshore accounts is beyond me. All the tackiness of stuffing money down your pants really doesn't speak well for the fund stealers in the Govt undecided

Sisi_Kill: Dude, take a deep breath, relax, try to engage your God given brain (I know He gave you one, He is not a mean God) and answer this for me please - What "sore spot" could you possibly have touched with the nonsense you wrote or is that you just love repeating words and phrases you hear in whatever TV series you are into now? (Don't rush the thinking process, this is not a timed Q & A)

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it is the "Love to repeat phrases I hear from TV series"

The "Liable" thing. . .that's from Law & Order right?

And the "Hitting a Sore spot". . .hmm, this is a tough one but let's go with one of the silly teen flicks they've got showing lately.

Piece of advice - While it is nice and good to know the latest in words, it is even better to know what they mean and when to use the or you end up showing yourself for the moron you are.

Class Dismissed! Next Teaching An Eejit how to engage his brain class starts when the Eejit above stops engaging his brain again (it won't be long now)
I definitely did touch a sore spot then. End of!

Isn't FB liable in some form. Their platform was used to facilitate this heinous crime, same way internet cafes are used in fraud. Do their disclaimers cover this specific eventuality?

Didn't even bother reading the "long tin". See as Igbos. & Yorubas they disgrace themselves with insults on NairaLand and people think its just jokes or banter. When it eventually translates to real violence on the streets of Nigeria, them go talk say na American or international conspiracy to destabilize Nigeria!

Rubbish.

Good info for novices.

However, when been around for a while, you'll find out that -

+ you have to be to women what they want you to be. Women want different things at different times. Their like, preferences & choices change regularly. U gotta be 1 step ahead. If they want Alpha, give them Alpha. If they want Beta, give them Beta. If they want AlphaBeta, give them Alphabeta. You gotta be flexible. YOU GOTTA BE PATIENT.

Nigeria is cursed with corrupt & inept rulers. Despite all the billions of dollars poured into Lagos when it was our capital from our colonial invaders up on till the 80's, its still mostly a mega ghetto?

Methinks that they should still have kept Lagos as a federal territory after our capital moved to Abuja, because thats what it essentially is.

fstranger8: @OP: I have no sympathy for you or anyone for that matter. You want American accent, well you got it: Banky W. Banky W was never talented in the first place. How he became an household name in Nigeria can only be explained by people like you willing to pay 100 bucks to go watch him and his 'cute face' and 'nice Americanized accent.'

Well, he has brought his American honed skills to Nigeria and mastered the difficult art of duping loose, gullible, impressionable female fans like yourself. Suck it up, it is a game and you lost. Stop whining and GTFOH.
Rubbish! It's not a game. It's a clear case of cancellation and applicable procedures should apply.

What, so we are all playing games with reputable acts like Femi kuti etc? Nothing wey person no go read for this NairaLand. Its all a game?

Leave matter o! They are worshipped like gods by some Nigerians in the UK. Come and see how these girls (mostly dumb single mama lagos girls I must admit) throw themselves at these guys!

We get down to their music big time though; "we don't know what it means, but it gets the crowd going".
RomanceRe: I Would Never Date A Boy That Smokes Weed! by basher(m): 9:41am On Aug 14, 2012
tpia!:
anyone on weed has to stay on it.

the effect of withdrawal are more terrible than the actual side effects, most times.

its unfortunate but there are extremely few other options.
That is not exactly true. U don't get physically dependent on weed only psychologically dependent. U don't get the shakes etc, like u get when u r dependent on heroin or alcohol.
RomanceRe: I Would Never Date A Boy That Smokes Weed! by basher(m): 12:50am On Aug 14, 2012
Weed is a drug & has to be treated that way. Problem is most people would have been smoking cigarettes b4 trying weed, so they smoke a whole wrap and get hammered. They then carry on like that. Do u drink a bottle of whiskey the 1st time u try alcohol? No. Weed gives u a buzz, so first time round u take a few drags (no rushing) till u feel a buzz. When d buzz fades, then u top up. U keep on topping till d party, or whatever u r doing is over, or feel Uve maxed, same as u do for alcohol. U don't open up a bottle of brandy & drink it till its finished, so why finish off 1 joint when ur already buzzin? Unfortunately, you'll eventually build up a tolerance & would need larger doses to get the same buzz, same as alcohol. Likewise, as u drink alcohol to socialize or at weekends etc, so should weed be. It's silly to smoke weed everyday, just as its silly to drink significant amounts of alcohol daily.

Stay away from skunk, same way as you'll stay away from 100% proof local gin or absinthe.
