it's not about Jersey my sister. Our players weren't in the game from beginning to end.

We lack pace, we lack energy, we can't mark, we can't pass ball accurately and we can't even score open goals, must we score by penalty

Watch Senegal team, even if they lose, if u are a Senegalese u will be proud of them watching how dedicated, agile, fast and determined they are.

Our players don't even know what to do with ball when they get ball. Run, they can't run. Chase, they can't chase. Mark ball, they can't mark. Score goal, they can't score , ah ah how una wan take score na

I don't know why we keep playing the same useless, dull football since ages, we need to start training on how to play energetic, fast game if we intend to go far in FIFA senior world cup anytime

You watch this same game wey I watch? Because I am not sure again. Eagles played well in second half but we didn't convert our clear goal opportunities.

Hmmm.....mathematician and economist eh.

That is a secret of life most folks miss. When your child follows in your footsteps, success of extreme levels become cheap. All his wisdom, academic prowess, grace and connections will have gone into his little girl. And I'm sure he is so proud to see the things he could not achieve in her life and career today.

Folks, if you want to live long. Have a vision beyond your generation and train your seed after you. God will guarantee you see the fruits no matter how long it takes.

My children will walk in my footsteps. They will study what we studied and professwhat we aredoing todayand by the grace of God to such a level to make them global authorities. They are going no where else. The difference between animals amd men are souls and this soul is meant for purpose, but even I have never seen the egg of an eagle grow up to become a cockrel, never.

Only sons, born of God know this secret of life.

This your argument...

So, what happens if they got no interest in what you "studied"? I don't think you will force them, or will you?

Second, do you know how many people walked in their parents footsteps and failed woefully?

While I respect your conclusion and vision for your child, know that it can never be foolproof. Success has different dimensions and comes in different ways.

And yes, the baba's children and grandchildren are very cerebral and I must say very humble too. In all, they come across to me as well trained, at least the ones I know of or have met here in the US.

TheCongo2:

I believe African football will take off the day Africans will stop patronizing European leagues at the expense of African leagues.

For instance, all Nigerians like English soccer teams but a lot of Nigerian know anything about the Nigerian local league.
Adding to that, I remember those days when African teams to the world cup were made up of players from African leagues. During those years, we used to see progress made by African teams from one world cup edition to the next.
From 1982 when Cameroon tied Italy in group stage. Italy ended up winning the world cup. Cameroon didn't lose or win any game during that world cup. Algeria stunned the world by beating Germany in their opening game. All the players from Cameroon and Algeria were from their local leagues.

Then come 1986, Morocco was the head of their group. They even beat Portugal 3-1. Morocco became the first African team to make it to the second round of the world cup, barely losing to eventual runners-up West Germany 1–0 . All the players from Morocco were from their local league.

Then 1990 with Cameroon who advanced to 1/4 final barely losing to England in extra time. More than half of Cameroun players were from the local league.

The disaster had started in 1994 were only players based in Europe were allowed to join African teams going to the world cup. Even since, we never see any progress made by any African team like we have seen from 1982, 1986 and 1990. Senegal had reached the 1/4 final in 2002 but this was already achieved by Cameroon in 1990. Cameroon never passed the group stage anymore.

Ok, let's get to specifics. Wha progress was made by an African team in 1982, 1986 and 1990 that was not made in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010?

Literature / Re: Chimamanda Adichie: "Men Holding The Door For Women Troubles Me" (Video) by baum1: 6:30pm On Jun 07, 2018
GiantParrot:
Chimamanda's point here is that she has problems with things that could portray women as being less capable than they truly are. Women are capable adults in their own right. Not children. A fair point really.

There may be some evolutionary angle to the development of chivalry though. While it may appear inconsequential in matters like door holding, it is quite useful in the evacuation scenario. From the point of view of survival of species, men are more disposable than women. True, men and women are needed to preserve the existence of our species. However, they are not equally needed. Our species' population will potentially increase much faster in a society that has twice as many women as men, compared to a society that has twice as many men as women because women are the only gender capable of childbirth and a single man is naturally equipped to impregnate many women. Survival here is thought of as the ability to keep the human DNA from extinction. I doubt there's a better way to do so than to keep increasing the instances of the DNA (through childbirth) since life can't be stored. From a macro scale perspective, some aspects of chivalry may then have developed from the identified need to always ensure the safety of women, the only bearers of life. Quite practical in my opinion. With the advent of artificial wombs though, these ideas may become moot. Although I'm not quite sure how human female eggs can be made available in large quantities without the presence of women themselves. But we'll see how far technology will take us.

Back to the crux of Chimamanda's argument - women should be treated as capable adults in their own right. For the sake of consistency, I would love to see her rail against the preferential policies in favour of women that have become commonplace in the form of forced quotas in politics, educational institutions and employment. Such patronizing policies essentially imply that women are by their own merit alone incapable of outstanding achievements.

Nice argument, especially last paragraph. But it will be said that they are doing catching up with those policies because they have been subdued and stifled for too long, i.e. balancing the inequality which rode on the back of unfairness to the female folks hundreds of years ago..Lol. And the argument could sound plausible.
Romance / Re: Can A Woman Truly Do Without A Man? by baum1: 2:06pm On Jun 07, 2018

Of course there will. As long as there is sex and sperm banks, there will be children. The more a country industrializes, the less people get married. Marriage doesn't offer much benefit to women unless there it adds a financial need. Otherwise there really isn't a reason for men. Let's go back to when women lived in their own homes and the man just visited each "hut". It's the way of Iceland now and they are very happy there. cheesy

Sound interesting..But Lol, provide an empirical evidence..Then I will surely contact you and we can research this further.

Not all ladies are after what you can offer and I know ure referring to either sex, money or material stuff, some just like you for being you. And you will see that these same set of ladies got guys that are worth more than the said dude. It sometimes doesn't have to do with what you have to offer.

I expected your argument.

Sorry, I'm not referring to sex, money and material stuff.

I'm not one of such guys.

Interesting, I set you a trap and you got caught in it. Lol.

As I'm anonymous, let me boast small. Many of the things that some solid guys offer are not directly linked to money or all those stuff you listed. Lol. Some of us have gotten to a level that we deal with ladies with all these material things as you called..But we still have a lot to offer them. Some ladies are ambitious in a great way and will roll with anyone who will guide them. These are sometimes rich ladies, i.e. baba billionaire or millionaire. See, aunty, I've seen.

But I agree that many guys only have money and material stuff etc to offer. When such jam rich girls, there has to be something else. At least, that where few guys have an edge - because they have other non-monetary stuff and many ambitious ladies are interested in this..Or how do we explain why I've female friends and mentees who are very well off. Lol.

Thank God no one knows me, so I can boast. In real life, you won't hear me mouth this.haha

Be deceiving ur selves, nothing like timing. If u like her go for her not all these statistics and physics you all do abt relationship. If it won't work it won't no rules or logic about relationships.

That's how a male friend of mine too told me yesterday when I saw him that" he purposely drifted away hoping I would Yearn for him but his tactics didn't work" I laugh scatter I was like see you me that get plenty things in my head.

Didn't want to engage this discuss, but your comment is interesting.

All I can say is that that male friend of yours has nothing you really need. You may debate this, but yes, that's true. You don't really need anything he has, and he learnt it in a harsh way.

I know ladies very well and I know that they have nothing to do with you when you have nothing to offer them; they need nothing from you.

As I said, you may try to debate this, but the empirical evidence is rife in real life.

If any working professional is viewing this thread, you can contact me if you're interested in earning a PhD while working. We have a team of dedicated experts that can guide you and ensure your dream comes to pass..But we don't have insight into how things work in Nigerian schools at the postgraduate level, so we can't help if you intend to do the PhD in Nigeria..

Our service charge per year is a million Naira. You get a dedicated researcher who is relatively accomplished in the field and will guide you well. The tuition fee for the school you end up is a different matter and not included in the service charge. We can help you scout for schools with affordable tuition fees

You don't have to leave your big job in Naija. You will only visit the country of PhD once or twice a year and discuss with your supervisor via skype.

I agree that this service might be expensive for many people, but if you earn a good salary a year and have the aspiration to get a PhD and be intellectually accomplished, I believe we can help you. Please reach out via PM if interested. Only those interested in business, accounting, management, finance, economics, business admin, please

It depends on the style adopted by the university. Yes, the UK or US style which we follow does not do this, but the German style is the same as this. Prof Dr Trockel, for example, is the name of a former professor in Germany..Some other schools adopt this style.

There are different ways of viewing things around the world. In France, a degree from Ecole Polytechnic is more prestigious than whatever any French university can offer. The best students in France go to Ecole. In Nigeria, it's the opposite. Same in the Uk, etc
