GamingRe: Psn Online Gamers In Nigeria[ps3] by Bawss1(m): 4:26pm On Apr 23, 2012
On a serious note though, I share the OP’s concern so I will re-echo the question; What ISP are online gamers using in Nigeria? On another thread I am made to understand that the famed Swift Network in Lagos is under-performing. What network are Lagosians using then? I am not aware of any good network/company that allows for online play in Abuja even though some people tell me that there are online gamers here.

Junior360’s post explained how to connect a PS3 console to a wireless network, it did nothing to answer the OP’s question highlighted below.
charlyPs3: Online gamers in nigeria, you know that there are some gamers(like me) who wants to play online too and show there talents but they cant due to some problems like:1 the right modem to use or 2:the best internet connection to use.For instance am a student in Federal University Of Technology Owerri,so i stay longer in Owerri than where i live in Ojo Alaba, all the modems i can lay my hands on,works only in lag.So pls help me and advise me on what to do,am planning of using etisalat easy blaze.pls help me i want to be online gamer like the others.THANKS, sad wink sad sad sad sad sad sad sad sad sad sad sad sad[

ritchboy: Really? I've been in Lag for some weeks now and Swift's network has gone to the gutters, nothing like i remember from a few years ago.

I ran a ping-test 6 or 7 times and this was the BEST result i got:
That 4G thing is just a marketing trick, no network in Nigeria has anything close to 4G, heck 3G in Nigeria is still subpar. But that's rather disappointing, the word on street was that Swift was the way to go for online gaming in Nigeria. . .and I used to think Lagos boys had it so good sad

I hope the OP put up that picture with the girl's consent otherwise this is an unfair embarrassment.

Mart d dart: On point!!!!!!
On point ke. Hooking up your console to a wireless network is no biggie, the real constraint in gaming online is finding a reliable ISP. I have found that MTN's 3G where I live in Abuja has a rather high latency (>200ms)which is unsuitable for FPS. Unless I'm mistaken, I doubt that people living outside of big cities will have any success with playing online in this country.

It is really frightening.
A bad precedence has been set here with MTN yielding customer data to government agencies.

ak47mann: The present administration appears to be fixated with the idea of quick fixes. Doubtless, the Orosonya committee's work has plenty of merit, makes sense, that is. Typically, the President obviously cowed by the high-sounding sanctimonious prescriptions of the committee, and clearly under pressure to prove himself capable, is in a haste to fall into another trap set by his enemies, who, of course, understand his psychology: show him money that can be 'saved' and you have him. The issues are not as simplistic as the committee is making out. Orosonya is just out of job and is clearly looking for another, hence the need to impress the President. The President has been on that seat long enough to have learnt some restraint by now. Scrapping bogus bodies and merging others with overlapping mandates may sound nice and progressive, but a lot of ground work needs be done before implementation. What we need is systematically overhaul that why we have president................
Are you trying to make a case for the existence of these government bodies? It is clear that many of them have overlapping responsibilities, shouldn't the rational thing to do here be to merge them or scrap them entirely? Obviously implementing the findings of the Orosonya committee will require care and circumspicion but if the government is serious about checking waste then the committee's findings is the way to go.

OP isn't crying about Ikpeba's grammar, if anything it is a source of amusement. So save your defense of the grammatically challenged for something else.

This topic has been discussed before on another thread and that one made the frontpage too.

@Topic
I find it puzzling that Supersports retains his services even though there is nothing exceptional about the analysis he gives with his subpar command of English.

^ And I even doubt the state's contribution to a federal government project. Let the public really know the extent of T.A Orji's government's contribution to this project in real terms before any praise rings out. I see here a way to reap cheap political points by not accurately presenting the facts as they really are. . . All these T.A Orji's lackeys on NL are repulsive.

Chances are that the first body to be eliminated will be Oronsaye’s Presidential Committee on the Rationalisation and Restructuring of Federal Government parastatals, commissions and agencies. Just you watch.

ambyzown: Hello guys, its been about a month since I posted on this thread. I came seeking for advice on purchasing an iphone. see link www.nairaland.com/868122/iphone-killer-apps-section-part/3#10341552
About two weeks ago, I got an iphone 4 based on advice I received here. The phone is Okay, well built and classy, but a basic function which I really need is conspicuously missing on the iphone. I want to be able to share my internet connection on the iphone wirelessly with my other devices. I can do this effortlessly on my android phones but can't seem to find it on iphone. I'll appreciate help in this regard. Sun_temi and others pls advice. Thanks.
I also noticed that the hotspot feature was missing on my iphone 4. What I did after reading online - it is not an uncommon problem - was switch on Data Roaming [Settings>General>Network] and then entering the APN, Username and Password under Mobile Data Network of my GSM network.
It was then I encountered a problem which I posted here
Bawss1: Trying to set up a Personal Hotspot on my iphone but I get the message: "To enable Personal Hotspot on this account, contact Carrier."

Any ideas?
However I rebooted springboard and that message no longer appears plus the Personal Hotspot feature I sought is now available and working!!

Edited: I don't think enabling Data Roaming had any effect on Hotspot feature, the site I did get my help from did mention it as something to try.

jay bee: How about you do your bit and worry less about other people's posts.
Like you said, we are all here to give advices. If you give yours and it ain't going down well then absolutely no point trying to shove it down one's throat or unnecessarily fight for which advice is better.

So long as we all are still allowed to exercise our freedom to free speech on the condition that it's contrary to rules and regulations of Nairaland then I'd advice you worry about your bit and ignore the others.
Y'all should really stop taking NL too serious.
It's only an on-line forum
Was just going to say that. But at the same time I will also add that many people assume that because this is all virtual it's OK to hurl insults and abuses forgetting that such acts are not without consequences. There is nothing we do whether real or virtual that we will not have to account for when the time comes.

if people are sadistic we cannot allow them to derail other peoples lives because anyone looking for advice is in reality in a confused state and you cannot trust them to see through the sadistic intentions of some people here in the state they are. so we owe it to humanity to call such sadists out so the honest people looking for advice will realize that such advice is pure wickedness and note not to follow them. once again i don talk finish. make i go find my daily bread but am watching y'all
It's when people appoint themselves as angels of justice that things get out of hand. There is always going to be a point of view that doesn't sit well with you, call it out fairly or let it be. There are too many Voltrons on this forum wreaking more havoc than they imagine.

It's been real ever since the first innocent life had been taken.

But now the stakes have gotten bigger, that statement is a clear and direct threat to the Commander in Chief of the armed forces of Nigeria. Mr President had better find these terrorists quickly in addition to beefing up his protection detail.

Why should medical attention be wasted on such types, their condition is self induced and the normal thing to do about cases like this is to let their delusion consume them.

And yet Mr President still has maintains that his government is out to fight corruption! The FEC meetings have for a long time now been reduced to a contract sharing meeting and this anomaly must be stopped.
I'm willing to bet that further investigation will reveal that ACT Technologies is a front for someone highly placed in government if not a member of the FEC.

Say someone is physically abusive so much so that the partner's life is threatened. Would divorce not be an option especially if efforts to resolve this issue had failed repeatedly?

davidylan: Divorce is the only answer? undecided
Surely it cannot be the only answer but for some extreme situations it is an answer. It is hard to imagine that the only problems some couples face are normal marital problems

davidylan: Go right ahead and divorce your own husband my dear. Come back and tell us how that worked for ya and your poor kids. SMH

First thing i always ask my women - if divorce is going to be an option for you going into marriage then lets just shake hands and go our separate ways easily. No point being with a woman who isnt willing to be patient enough to work through normal marital problems.
Just curious sir, what happens if the problems are anything but normal.
FamilyRe: Seriously Contemplating A Divorce by Bawss1(m): 2:48pm On Apr 12, 2012
queensmith: ^^ in fact i am overly fed up! People will honestly justify a man killing his wifes confidence because she put on a few pounds. A man placing the very foundation of thier marriage on how she looks. Looks that will always fade!

Its the men that need to fix up! Im sorry but no woman can look beauiful forever! If your husband can only love you when you are pretty its a short term marriage you will get!
There is no man alive with red blood in his veins that will not consider the looks of his wife as very important. So many men have indeed based the choice of their life partners on this quality alone, a fact, though not recommended, that suggests the very high pedestal that this quality is placed. Anybody who says a woman's looks is secondary is being hypocritical. I say this not to encourage the trend of superficiality that results from an exaggerated consideration of physical beauty but I feel it is very necessary that girls and ladies owe it to themselves to maintain a sense of beauty ALWAYS.

This will probably sit with some as being chauvinistic but that's a risk I'm prepared to take.
