Programming › Re: What Type Of App Runs Your Cooperative? by Bcpump: 9:25am On Oct 11, 2020 |
airsaylongcom: So you seemed to have missed the point. My point is that while building from scratch is good and justifiable, buying an existing solution is equally as good if not better. So let's assume you build a customer solution (which most likely you won't release the code to the buyer) what happens if GOD FORBID you die? Or you can't continue because Facebook has hired you. Won't the client have to request for your code for someone else to work on? An off the shelf solution eliminates this as there is a community that will be supporting it.
You talked about the programming language. I really don't care what language is used. My question was more around you using an already built software (the programming Language) instead of you building a new programming language that will be used to develop the client's solution. Programming languages by themselves are software so if you say buying (or using) an existing solution isn't ideal them it can be inferred that you would build a new programming language that you will use to build the client's solution. Talking about using any language of the clients choice, if the client asked you to use LISP to build a webapp are you saying you would?
Loads of Banks use software like Finacle to manage their core banking operations. Given your position, are you saying each bank should build from scratch?
With Microsoft Office, it was a generic example of a widely used software. Are you saying a business that needs a word processor should build from scratch?
My real point is that you cannot seat down and categorically say it is better to build rather than buy. It depends on what the solution is needed for and whether the cost to build will be justifiable.
Note that I am not against you building from scratch. My point is that you cannot make a blanket statement that building is better. Google Chrome is perhaps one of, if not THE most widely used Web browsers. But it was built from Chromium with modifications. People often argue that it is better to build because it takes sometime to understand someone else's code which can be ameliorated with proper comments.
I say, before building, evaluate existing solutions and IF they don't meet specific requirements then you can customise.
Good luck in your business endeavour. I am fully aware that it can be difficult pushing Software so I appreciate your courage to decide to build wow. Thanks for explaining it as simple as this. I cannot agree less with the points raised in the first paragraph. Any code that is not open, or app built on a limited access platform is already designed for non-continuity OP, you did not use the right words in marketing this. |

kentoski: Hello bro, It will save you a lot of time and worry, if you take time and read everything about the process with the well structured links in page one of this thread, before you start. There's a format for the letter there for example. okay thanks a lot |

bezimo: Apply to get it now. That reference letter is a key requirement of the process, don't delay any part of the process. In this matter, the earlier you get everything together the better. You can organize to get the letter, write IELTS, assess your credentials through WES within the same time frame. Okay thank you. is there any format, should it be addressed to Canada Immigration? or a to whom it may concern? |

TokyoBulls: Just got my first alert for CRM. The one I did on August 12. 20 slots. Great day to start a Monday, folks. I also got first CRM unit today.i did 1, 3 then 10. the 3 is due next week and the 10 upper week. in my usual fashion I sent them a DM early in the morning asking them not to let me have to buzz them all week o. lol. I think they are being careful with the CRM investors, knowing they are short term and their reviews can scatter the whole place. I just wish they could be more organised. So far so good sha |

alex074: I stumbled across Samtosglobal.com, an investment platform a month ago which I invested in after my diligence, I just received my first ROI today on the due date.
You can check them out on their site and any of their offices. Just felt I should share my experience.
Please do your due diligence before you invest in any business. I advise everyone beware of this samtosglobal. they have been spamming a lot of investment threads, especially MBAforex thread. Be careful. |

TokyoBulls: I tested with 10 units of small business plan (Location) from May to August 2020 before investing in 20 units of same small business plan in August and 110 units of CRM. I agree it's quite risky but look at the positive side. I also interact well with their managers, their riders and clients and believe their business at the moment will deliver the short term returns they offer. When they reach saturation points, they should know. Chimoo. 110 units. really high risk tolerance. Even though I have a sort of faith in the map dream since I already an investor, I only did 14 units of the crmi o. I want to see how it goes for the first month before I can go all in. |

spiceeamiee: I appreciate this thread and I like the fact that we are all trying to diversify our portfolios. However when we say due diligence, please really do it. The statements made about Green safety does not sit right with me. I am not an investor but I did check them out way before now cos I talked about them in the Agric thread. A cursory look at their website shows their client base. I went to their office in Ikeja. They occupy the whole building and they provide safety equipments to lots of airlines. Someone said their presence on SM is not active so how do they get their customers. Please how did people survive before social media? With their line of business, most of their clientele will not be gotten from social media. I just started actively running my business on social media during the lockdown. However it has been in existence for over 3 years and not a month has gone by that we did not net over a million Naira so do you think I will come and kill myself because of social media business?? Let’s be careful about our sayings please. These are people’s hard earned business reputation and it’s easy to destroy things without proof these days not minding the hard work that goes into it.
Also for those doing the map CRM, hope they told you(and you asked very well) that your waiting period is actually 60days and not 30days. 30 days normal waiting period is for all investment, then CRM will wait another 30days to be paid after your CRM person has started earning so if you invested this month, you will start earning in October. Don’t come and say they are scam if they don’t pay you after 30days. It’s why I said ask questions. Ask everything you don’t understand. It’s your money you are sending on an errand. You deserve to know where it’s going. I chatted them on iG after I read this. see below |

yemkaf: I think TheMap is the next direction I'll be moving, been following them for a while. But there entry value I saw was about ₦450,000 or there about, and that was what kept me away plus there unorganised website I think @pepchizy should put us through. I am currently engaged in 4 investments with them. Do they pay? Yes. not on time but within the week. My experience? They are very very disorganised. You are to track your investments by yourself and follow up with them weekly for your payment else they may forget you. You think their website is wack?? wait till you call them to ask for your investment details. They will tell you they do not know and that investors are to track and know it themselves. This is if you are able to reach them o. Summary: They are legit but very disorganised. if you know you cannot track your investments and follow them up weekly for your payment via calls messages DMs then don't do o. If you can follow them up then sure you will surely get paid weekly. |
