I think I have cracked the code to our conundrum as a nation: we dont deserve the geographical space or time we exist in, and for all the gift of intellect God has bestowed on man we chose to be irresponsible. Thus, a poetic antithesis to that irresponsibility is that we are the cause of our own destruction. Unfortunately the few rational ones in the country will go also as an avoidable collateral because they chose to keep mum and watch the ignorant ones steer their affairs So meaning u agree we shouldnt be together as a nation right?Naija should be divided |

To conclude, that church is a well run business, that doesn't giv back as it should except audio giving. The founder seems only interested in making money for his lineage.U support a govt tax n cash book audit of religions houses. |

Family › Re: Should I Cut-off My Parents? by bdon123(m): 12:47pm On Oct 10, 2021 |
chinasaekpere: Hello guys, this is a very strong decision I want to make, I need your help to make this decision or not to. I am thinking of cutting my parents off because they have caused me enormous financial setback as a result of the bad decisions my father made. Firstly, I will like to give you a background of the story.
I come from a family of 4 and I am the first child of my parents. My dad is a retired federal government worker, he worked for many eyes as a school cert holder (so obviously, he didn’t hold very top position until he retired, probably the max in reached was level 8 or 9). He trained me through the university and he retired during my NYSC, at this point one of my brothers was in the university (he never graduated because he was nonchalant), my 3rd brother was a jambite and the last born was in primary school. The Jambite graduated this year and the last born is now a jambite.
In 2013, my dad retired and received gratuity worth several millions. My mom tried persuading him to build a house in the village because we are Igbos but Based in ogun state but my dad refused and insisted that he was going to develop his land in ogun state by building a 4 flats building (up stairs) then start business with the remaining money in Ogun state (apparently, he got the revelation from church to do that), he never completed the house. My dad is very religious until date, so out of the money he paid tithe, bought instruments for church and made some donations. Immediately I finished serving, I got a job with a pharmaceutical company as a medical sales representative. I was receiving a salary of 80k with commission. Things started great. I served some money I joined my dad in some of his fish farm business, I was in Enugu while he was doing the farm business in ogun state. When it was time to harvest the fish, I was told stories about theft, I spent 700k on the business but was able to recover 200k because I had to help him offset some debt.
To cut the long story short, my dad started having serious financial issues, couldn’t pay school fees of my last born in school, had several debts just about 2years after collecting millions as gratuity due to his wrong choice of investment. Ofcourse the financial burden transcended to me, until a point that my dad got into trouble from another debt, he spent church harvest savings that he was suppose to remit. I was paying my brothers school fees worth 150k per term, i had to take money from company’s account to help him offset the debt hoping that he would pay up and I will pay some before company finds out. The whole financial burden was so huge for a starter like me, owing to the fact that I lost all my savings to the fish farming business and I also had to pay house rents in Enugu and pay other bills. I accumulated a debt of 1.2million with the company and then is started paying it by bit until the company found out that there was a deficit of 400k. I was arrested and was in the cell for days. To get out of the cell, I had to sign a legal agreement for a payment plan of paying 30k monthly to offset the debt. Luckily for me, I got a 60k job 1month after, my dad couldn’t pay my last siblings school fees, I took him to Enugu and started Paying his bills. I was also paying 30k from my salary every month until I paid all the lost the job again during the heat of the recession. I managed to pay up that debt. Since 2018, I haven’t really done any serious job, I started driving Uber in 2019, saved up some money, my mom needed money for business last year, i borrowed her, she couldn’t complete the payment. The car I was using to do the Uber got bad again. I had to look for a remote job now in Lagos, I saved up money and learnt how to do footwear, i Am saving some money to pay my house and shop rent and get machines. Last two month my dad called that he needed money for my brother’s school fees so he can complete his SSCE exams. He promised to payback mid last month, now I have not seen the money and my that was my house rent I borrowed him. My house rent expired in August. I called him, and ofcourse, he is playing the emotional game. Now, they are in serious financial mess and they seem not to want stop dragging me into it and it’s not as if I am doing great myself. I am not, I’m struggling to make something after mortgaging a lot of time paying several debts. It is overwhelming.
The point is, I am 31years old, I’m looking forward to making my own family and it seem if I am not careful, they will drag me back from this objective. Anytime I try to organize myself, they come up with their monetary problems and it hinders my growth. My plan was to get a shop and equip it before the end of first quarter 2022 from the saving I made from my current 80k salary and now they have collected my house rent in form of a loan. That’s a drawback again.
I have to make my own family, I need to shed some burden to be able to do that. I also want to be a parent and I never want to depend on my kids in my old age. Should I cut them off? If no, what do you advice that I do? I feel ur pain bro.I have been having same issues jst like u...bt urs seem so much more.Look u need to put u first as u cant continue like this.U are hardly making ends meet bt d load u carrying is beyond u.If u want to make something out of ur life,u need to take d bull by d horn n cut dem out.At least they can feed n roof over their head.i hav always said it that african families tend to drive their children to crime due to so mch financial burden. They drove u to crime,as u stole company money to offset family bills.U need to face ur own life n grow urself ,then u can come back to help out in future wen u buoyant enough.Right now u in a rat race n u need out. Say to urself me first NB:My own dad collected gratuity n made bad financial moves i adviced him against it he never listened.we going tru something similar so i understand. |

AlexBells: The truth is that secessionist are vocal minorities in all sphere, this is democracy, how come secessionist are telling their like minds not to vote, this is a democracy there is no way unionist go out to vote and secessionist stays back in election day and you think secessionist would be heard where and when it matters,
When have you heard Biafra discussed in the senate floor, is it by protesting in the street why not protest with your vote?, these politicians come to campaign when have Oduduwa or Biafran agitators come out during campaign to ask candidates what they would do about Biafra or Oduduwa
In Britain you see politians talk about Brexit during campaign and if they fail they resign, Nigeria is a democracy but Nigerians are yet to learn how democracy works, you elected senators and reps and then go into the street to demand Biafra if you truly believe that Biafrans are majority, why not send Biafrans to the Nigerian Senate and house of Rep?
Please you guys are undemocratic, just make whatever assembly you keep peaceful it is your right to self determination but if you are really the majority like it all seem then use your numbers and send Biafrans and Oduduwans to the house
Don't even try to cite corruption this is regional affairs and if the secessionist are serious they can make sure that their votes counts. You do hav a point.Idealy it should go tru representative at Nass.Bt u n i know our electoral system is in shambles. The people at Nass are truly not d people choice n are only there to enrich their lineage.Only a sincere govt will take d bull by d horn n send a proposal to senate for a referendum. AlexBells: You think the solution is making Nigeria weaker, strength is different from corruption and selfishness, the fact is that to your lots Dividing Nigeria or Biafra would automatically solve all problem and you think the solution of the East is solely on the politician, everyone needs to get in the process.
Yes being a politician and aspiring for a better Nigeria is not bad the only major problem is that these people shouting divide the country have no solution, I don't rate current crop of Igbo politicians because they were mostly hand picked by the North but if I tell you what the Niger Bridge that you use till this day was built by the government of MI Okpara and Zik,
But the war did nothing but blow up the Bridge, the first university in Nigeria (The University of Nigeria Nsukka was built by Zik, not the politicians of today nor your secessionist had ever built any reliable monument but knows exactly how to destroy, let people who are ready to build have stability to build
Look at everything we have, how many of them was built by seccesionists, how much are we going to keep saying these things are political problem, I don't blame anyone not even Ojukwu but these distractions got to stop.
People have their choice and don't even think that Biafra matters more than Nigeria, they are both options and until you have a referendum you can't chose for anyone and if you want a referendum lobby the politicians in the language they understand or join the army and carry out a coup then divide the country with a decree apart from these two stop wasting lives and spreading destruction on the parts,
It is you secessionist that is making Nigeria stronger not the Military, not the politicians. I like d point u making Bt d truth is we are in a democracy. Its not abt whether being together or dividing is d solution. Its all abt wat majority of d people want even if wat they want is not best ur opinion.Nigeria had been having serious problem wit its unity, infact it fought a civil war in that matter. Now d whole country is all heated up n divided tanks to baba Illiterate....my opinion though.Doesnt democracy suggest a referendum to determine wat majority of d people want. When i hear some fools say united is non negotiable i jst laugh...becos a union that is not negotiable is no longer a union bt slavery. And we both know u cant keep a human being slave forever he will fight back till he brings down d whole building.. My honest opinion is hold a referendum, let d people decide#Letssavelivesbeforeweallgetconsumed# |

Politics › Re: Weighty Matters About Our Country - By Femi Adesina by bdon123(m): 8:34am On Oct 09, 2021 |
Ez presidency: Series of reactions have typically attended the October 1 broadcast by President Muhammadu Buhari to mark the 61st anniversary of our Independence Day. These include the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. That’s democracy in action, with its propensity and predilections for freedom of speech.
My motive in this piece is to consider parts of the broadcast that look into our very essence, our raison-d-etre as a country, and how the ties that bind can be further strengthened. Okay, let’s go.
“Fellow Nigerians, the past 18 months have been some of the most difficult periods in the history of Nigeria. Since the civil war, I doubt whether we have seen a period of more heightened challenges than what we have witnessed in this period.”
Factual. Straight as an arrow. Deadpan. Our President is not one to mince words, speak facetiously or tongue-in-cheek. He says it as it is.
We have, indeed, passed through the most challenging of times in the past 18 months: security-wise, economically, socio-politically, and in many other ways. Life has descended into the Hobbesian state of nature; nasty, brutish and short. But God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy. We are still here, standing, hoping, trusting. Better days will come, and are, indeed, coming. Challenges are meant to be surmounted. Accepting that they are real is the first practical step to combating them. The Buhari administration is not glossing over our issues, but is rather facing them squarely. And that is why #We Believe. Some governments lie to their people. No, not the Buhari government.
“In the last four months, the gallant men and women of the military and security agencies have made tremendous progress in addressing these new security challenges. We are taking the fight to our enemies from all angles, and we are winning.”
God bless our troops! From the air, the land, the waters, they are defending us, routing out the evil and wicked. They pay heavy prices, even the ultimate sacrifice, but they keep at it. Nigeria must be free, and must be at peace. By force! We appreciate. We are winning all the wars, we are not looking back. With the banners before us, we are sure of victory. I say it again: God bless our troops! Amen.
Believe this President when he tells you that “in line with section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the security and welfare of Nigerians continue to be the prime focus on which programmers and projects of our government revolve.” When Muhammadu Buhari tells you something, you can take it to the bank. Believe!
Some people incite violence through words or actions, thus exacerbating the security challenges we have. You wonder where they are from, and why they would further stoke a burning fire with incendiary materials.
There is one funny Senator who talks about the mismanagement of our diversity as a country, yet he daily uses foul language against those in leadership. He stood surety for someone bent on dismemberment of the country, and when that one vanished, and he should have been cooling his feet in prison, the Senator still spews rubbish. Chief ‘mismanager’ of our diversity. And the President had words for him and his ilk, who exist round the country.
“We are ready to arrest and prosecute all persons inciting violence through words or action. Our resolve for a peaceful, united and one Nigeria remains resolute and unwavering...
“The seeds of violence are planted in people’s heads through words. Reckless utterances of a few have led to losses of many innocent lives and destruction of properties.”
How very true! The reckless utterances come even from the pulpit; from apostles, pastors and bishops. From the mosques; from sheikhs and mallams, from the newspapers, radio, television, Internet, everywhere. From the very old, the young, male, female. They just say incautious, thoughtless, imprudent things that swell up, and lead to violence, sorrow, tears and blood.
Yes, a government must work for harmony, amity and concord in the land. But when these characters would not relent in being ‘opposite people’, what should be done? The President addresses it in the broadcast. “Our hope is not to fight for peace. We can always settle our grievances without spilling any blood...We shall continue to work on dialogue based solutions to address legitimate grievances. But we remain ready to take decisive actions against secessionist agitators and their sponsors who threaten our national unity.”
True. Government must have biceps. It must be strong, and show strength. Otherwise, it will be taken for a ride, and soon, will become a king sitting on an empty throne. We must embrace peace and dialogue, whatever our grievances. All of us do have these things that rile, vex and outrage us. You have, I have. Is the next thing then to upset the applecart? No, blessed be the ties that bind us, and those ties should remain resolute, unwavering. “Nigeria is for all of us...and its ultimate success can only be achieved if we all come together with a common goal of having peace and prosperity for our nation.”
Other weighty matters that the President touched on include the fact that Nigeria does not start and end with the Federal Government. “This country is a great collective where Government at all arms and levels as well as the private sector, and more importantly individuals, have a role to play.”
He stressed that security is a bottom to top undertaking, in which we must all join hands together. That is why it is amusing to see people deliberately light fire at their communities, wards, local councils, states, and then call on Buhari to come and put out the fire. It doesn’t work that way. Security is a bottom to top undertaking. And unity is a collective resolve.
Two more points, and I’m done. Nigeria must go beyond a never-ending potential for becoming a great nation to an actually great one. Many presidents have said it. Shehu Shagari. Olusegun Obasanjo. Umaru Yar’Adua. Goodluck Jonathan. But here we are today, still just a country with potentials. But I tell you, under Muhammadu Buhari, those inherent capacities and capabilities are being unearthed, utilized, and we are on our way there. It’s just to stay focused, and we’ll get to our Canaan, flowing with milk and honey.
Finally, my brethren. President Buhari said a lot has been achieved in the past six years on many fronts: in infrastructure, social care, governance, Nigeria’s image and influence in Africa and the international community. He added: “But critics misdiagnose incremental progress as stagnation. Since coming to power, this Administration has tackled our problems head-on in spite of the meager resources. No government since 1999 has done what we have done in six years to put Nigeria back on track.”
Bull’s eye! And I challenge those who kept us in the slave market for 16 years, and threatened to keep us cabined, cribbed and consigned for 60 years, to controvert it. I join Minister Raji Fashola, SAN, to challenge them to show us one major road project they started and completed in 16 years. One major bridge, rail project, airport they built, despite the humongous resources at their disposal. Let them speak up now, or forever hold their peace.
*Adesina is Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity First Femi is a mumu man.And Buhari is a terrorist sponsor so its impossible for him to go after d real co sponsors of terrorism.Buhari has zero integrity,m sure Nigerian banks will concur....as nobody trust that man. Also, isnt it more sensible n easier to peacefully hold a referendum to determine division instead of using that word unity by force. |
Politics › Re: Lessons From Chiwetalu Agwu’s Arrest (opinion) by bdon123(m): 8:11pm On Oct 08, 2021 |
Idokojimmy: On 7th October, 2021, a renowned Nollywood Actor, Chiwetalu Agwu was apprehended in Anambra state by the Military, adorned in IPOB/Biafra regalia. According to the Military, the Iconic figure in the entertainment industry was allegedly arrested after he was caught soliciting support for one proscribed group identified as IPOB, as well as inciting the public against the authority. It is noteworthy that the arrest is coming few days after the Military commenced an operation tagged “Golden Dawn” in the South East, following incessant attacks and killings of security operatives and innocent residents in the region. Apart from killing of operatives, cases of armed robbery, car snatching, attacks on POS operators, raiding of markets, setting up of illegal road blocks as well as extortion of motorists have been reported.
The question now is, did the nollywood actor commit any crime to warrant arrest? YES. In September, 2017, a federal high court proscribed IPOB and declared it a terrorist organization. The declaration followed an application by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. The following year, IPOB appealed the declaration/judgement. Fortunately or unfortunately, the appeal was not upheld. Rather the court affirmed its earlier declaration. Consequently, in the face of law, IPOB remains a terrorist group.
Some of the characteristics of terrorist organizations include coercion, targeted assassination, kidnapping, violent confrontation with government forces, violent agitation for secession, armed robbery, using instrumentality of fear to subjugate people and so on. A common test suggests that IPOB has met all these conditions. The group has killed hundreds of security operatives, established an army to confront the government, robbed innocent citizen, burnt government institutions and threatened to sustain killings.
Should public figures or opinion molders identify with such group? The choice is theirs. However, one thing is clear; the group is an enemy of the state. Its supporters, sponsors, sympathizers are also terrorists.
Section 1 of the 2013 Terrorism Prevention Act as Amended criminalizes persons that incite, promise or induce any other persons by any means whatsoever to commit any act of terrorism…The Act also criminalizes persons who omit to do anything that is reasonably necessary to prevent an act of terrorism. It also frowns at those that assist or facilitate the activities of persons engaged in the act of terrorism, and so on.
Suffice to say that Anambra is currently the epicenter of IPOB activities. In few days, several operatives have been killed. The terror elements have also vowed to frustrate the conduct of the forthcoming gubernatorial poll. It is enforcing the illegal sit-at-home order. Yet, this is the time that AGWU elected to be adorned in IPOB/Biafra uniform. More renowned actors like KANAYO, PETE EDOCHIE, ZUBBY, NKEM OWOH, RITA and PATIENCE among others are still shooting movies in the South East and selling same in Onitsha without let or hindrance. They are not less Igbos neither are they more Nigerian. They understand the times and laws.
AGWU by his action, tacitly demonstrated support for the killings of security operatives, destruction of government properties, burning of Nigerian flags, non-conduct of the governorship election in the state, illegal sit-at-home order, killing of Akunyili’s husband, ongoing armed robbery and targeted killings of innocent Igbos. In plain terms, he supports terrorism. He may have been released, but the lessons cannot be forgotten. Influential persons in the society should learn to use their positions to better the society by clamoring for good governance not supporting terror.
*Yani writes from Abuja* This is a rubbish biased write up.In wat way did he incite d public?was he caught tunneling cash to ipob?or was he caught in an ipob hideout? Also,in wat way is that colours an ipob one Doesnt arewa hav their crest in various government institutions in d north without harrassment n intimidation.Truth is Agu has gotten my respect even though am not an igbo guy.He jst showed solidarity wit his people. The Igbos are seriously under siege frm buhari n his terrorist administration. How da heck is biafran flag an offence that warrants manhandling. If this can be done to someone as prominent as him,wat hope do ordinary people like us hav ?Can we even protest right now against any government structure without being accused of sponsoring osama Bin laden...wit zero evidence to back d claim. Its jst so painful that the judiciary that should interpret laws has been hijacked hence no hope for common man..... In my current disunited country, Malami has completely taken over responsibility of d judiciary unopposed. |

DanHaske: I will answer your questions. 1. There is nothing like Biafra so the issue of Biafra flag shouldn't arise. That flag is the official flag of the terrorists movement ipob. 2. You are comparing the flag with the cultural symbol of other tribes, if I may ask is that the cultural colours of Igbo people? 3. Nobody wants to leave Nigeria, you guys are just chasing clout. Stop dragging other tribes into your matter. 4. The only tribe that nobody wants to associate with in Nigeria is your tribe. SS rejects you, SW doesn't want anything to do with you, they don't like you in the North Central, in fact only northerners manage to tolerate you. Even outside Nigeria everyone hates your tribe. You should call a meeting and ask yourselves why. Hilarious All of a sudden u know my tribe ... Bro u seem seriously pained like i hav offended ur ancestors before. So there is arewa flag wit logo in d north bt she dnt want others to display their colors abi, becos dem dey fear u ba.There is nothing like biafra bt there is arewa n Oduduwa. This says it all,how da fck are u n me supposed to be frm same country....U obviously hav terrorist ideology ..its so damn obvious.Am not here to start a tribal war of words, its irrelevant as it cant add a dollar to my pocket .Bt be aware, wind don blow...fowl yansh don open.Nigerians are beginning to wake up,it wont be business as usual. This separation frm a parasitic union mst come |
