ACF has already shown her willingness to go with it since it became an Issue. So they are in.Why i suggested the NASS is simple they believe there role is duplicated. They feel the treats more.Lastly i know the opppositions(ACN,CPC,APGA etc) have indicated at different times there readiness and support for that. The bulk of the resistance is some how within PDP and the powers that hold it together.SO my take is this, if GEj can say yes and then gradually isolate the players who don't want it.We could drive the SNC to it goals. They are politicians and won't want to be isolated and rendered powerless. That brings us to the SNC players.Who shoulod represent the various peoples and interest groups in Nigeria.I see it this is just a start. Before PDP will do the governors select representatives.,which is more of NASS.loyalist that can be controlled. You asked if the northern coalition of concerned notherners are key players in north? We don't care right now.Because even in the south the key players are still mute. The issue is are they from the north or south. If yes, then when they say it is dialogue under SNC we want then so be it abeg.We should look at people at various levels. Not from only leadership or cliques.More over a key political element of the north ACF and some political elements have spoken. Also leaders of tradition and peoples have suggested same. The issue is would it truly change our situation. Are we sure it will not be hijacked by PDP or political parties again.
I don't see governors selecting the right people. It will be politics as usual. This time every and all must be represented. All tribes and faiths.Forget party and forget politicians in power.People with the passion and true agenda for a better relationship and progress of there people be nominated.Simple!!!I pray we allow this work and come out of it truly better.
I agree broadly. The more voices there are, the better.
The politicians that might try to stop the SNC would fall into the class of kingmakers; Tinubu, IBB etc and first term office holders with an eye on a second term.

I am happy that the Coalition of Concerned Northerners have mentioned the lopsidedness of the economy also:

But they said the ‘lopsidedness’ in the polity and the economy must be part of the issues for discussion at the talks.
Discussion on the above, if driven properly and altruistically could see various regions submitting rigorous economic feasibility studies for bankrolling whithin agreed terms and agreed periods (not foolishness about subsistence farming of yams and onions or petty trading).
This could just be the real kickstart to the average Nigerians self-belief, as well as rapid national development.

Heavy rain forecast: Lagos warns slum residents to relocate
On February 26, 2012 · In News

By Olasunkanmi Akoni & Monsur Olowoopejo

Lagos State government yesterday stressed the need for the relocation of those residing in low land slums and flood prone areas of the state in order to prevent avoidable loss of lives and properties as the raining season is fast approaching.

The state Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, who gave the warning during the monitoring of the February edition of the monthly environmental sanitation in Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), said the measure became necessary following heavy rainfall prediction by weather forecasters this year.

He said there was need for all hands to be on deck to minimize the impact of flooding across the state, saying that the state government was working round the clock to ensure that drainage channels are cleared ahead of the rains.

According to him, the state government is currently dredging the Makoko drainage channel in the Yaba LCDA, abd urged residents in the area to desist from dumping refuse into the canal.

Bello said: “The work on the Makoko drainage channel is a work in progress. What we are doing now is to dredge so that we can reduce the instance of flooding. Makoko is a low line area in the state, so what we are doing is to minimise the instance of flooding, but ordinarily people should not live in the low line”.

He added that the state government had requested for the assistance of the World Bank in the last four years to assist in developing some blighted areas, including, Iwaya, Makoko, Ijora Badia in the state.

Ilaje community petitions presidency over marginalisation in Ondo
By Dayo Johnson
Wednesday, September 10, 2003

AKURE–– THE Crisis over Chairmanship position of the Ondo State oil producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) may have taken a new dimension as some communities in the oil rich Ilaje area of the state have petitioned the presidency over their marginalisation by the state government.

Vanguard learnt that notable sons and daughters of the communities consisting of Mahin, Aheri, and Etikam in the Ilaje area of the state have written to president Olusegun Obasanjo on the need for the position to be ceded to them. A notable Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is a special Assistant to president Obasanjo is championing the cause of the communities. It was learnt that the Party chieftain met with leaders of the communities recently and informed them that the matter of marginalisation of the communities in the leadership of the commission has been taken up with the appropriate quarters.

Earlier, leaders of the communities had accused governor Olusegun Agagu of marginalizing the communities in the appointment of board members in the state. According to their spokesman, Engineer Oyedele Oguntibeju, political appointments by the state governor was lopsided in favour of constituency I.

Engineer Oguntibeju said that meaningful position zoned to Ilaje people has been captured by a section of the communities adding that "there will be serious reaction which the state government will be unable to control on the ground of complicity."

He justified the alleged marginalisation by explaining that out of the 14 elective and administrative appointments in the council area, constituency I (Ugbo) has ten while the communities consisting of Aheri, Etikan and Mahin kingdom had two, one and one respectively.

Oguntibeju said this was against the long-standing tradition that "whenever there are two or more major appointments or elective offices, they must be shared among the two constituencies."
Merge all Ilaje communities with Delta state, where all are welcome and none is a 13% derivation donkey.

There is a strong case to be made for the merging of Ijaw and Ilaje populations to Delta state. Both groups are strongly marginalised in Ondo state, just the same way all minorities are marginalised in Nigeria (worse if they are oil producing). Nobody is marginalised in Delta state, it is the first state to have had a governor from an ethnic minority group. cool

Listen to the Ilaje cry of marginalisation from just a few months back:

Mahin indigenes lament marginalisation
HAKEEM GBADAMOSI 23/08/2011 09:16:00

The indigenes of Mahin in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State have expressed dissatisfaction over their neglect and marginalisation by successive governments in the country as they called on the authorities to correct the anomalies.

The people also decried the destruction of their environment by multinational oil companies, leading to pollution, coastal erosion and sea incursion. In a communiqué at end of the Mahin People’s National Conference and signed by the General Secretary, Central Organisation, Olayemi Saanumi, the people rejected the current massive excavation of sands, which has caused artificial lagoon in some part of the region.

It said, “Despite its historic roles and earliest exposure to western education and modern governance, the Mahin Kingdom has suffered continued marginalisation, discrimination and neglect by successive governments at all levels, particularly in terms of distribution of infrastructure facilities, political appointments and other amenities.

“The Conference called on the Ondo State Government, the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, (OSOPADEC), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the Ilaje Local Government and client companies to put in place immediate and sustainable remedial measures in this regard.
http://nationalmirroronline.net/community-mirror/19058.html

It will be best to merge the entire area, along with the Apoi Ijaw areas (Ilaje and Ese-Odo local govt areas) with Delta state where they can be with their kith and kin who are not marginalised.

A specification (often abbreviated as spec) is an explicit set of requirements to be satisfied by a material, product, or service.[1][better source needed] Should a material, product or service fail to meet one or more of the applicable specifications, it may be referred to as being out of specification;[2] the abbreviation OOS may also be used.[3] Specs are a type of technical standard.

A technical specification may be developed by any of various kinds of organizations, both public and private. Example organization types include a corporation, a consortium (a small group of corporations), a trade association (an industry-wide group of corporations), a national government (including its military, regulatory agencies, and national laboratories and institutes), a professional association (society), or a purpose-made standards organization such as ISO. It is common for one organization to refer to (reference, call out, cite) the standards of another. Voluntary standards may become mandatory if adopted by a government or business contract.

A jail guard told AFP late Friday that prison officers battled Boko Haram gunmen who tried to gain entry to the prison in an apparently failed bid to free group members being held there.
"The prison is intact," a resident who lives nearby said.
How could so many people have been killed in the police station, yet prison warders were able to battle boko haram to a standstill?
Something tells me the raid on the police station had insider help.

I will immediately press cancel 7 times, then kneel down and pray to bind all demons, including the ATM. After that, I will put the money on the floor back into the machine without telling the police.

Will I go to heaven? grin

The point is already made.
You claimed oil well was ceded to Edo state from Ondo state only to be slapped with hard facts which is contrary to your believe.
You do the same on anti-GEJ,pro-Tinubu and pro-Aregbesola  threads.

Get your facts right before commenting is the lesson you need to learn.
You are talking crap.
Delta state has previously reclaimed 260 oil wells from Ondo state in 2009, Edo state is due fair hearing. What has that got to do with the woman-slapping reptile called Aregbesola?

You must be drinking when you typed that.

The Lord is your strength.

Reality/hards facts is a motherphurka!!!!!

Thats one silly thing about Beaf.
If you do not realise it by now, yours is the silliest post on this thread.
You didn't even attempt to make a point, but maybe it is the effect of imbibing early morning alomo with your moi-moi.

Can anybody attempt to tackle what Pa Omoigui said, or is the truth too bitter? The man was sacked for standing by the truth.

Moreover, because parts of Bendel had gone to Ondo, there were five oil wells very close to the boundary. Initially, the Ondo people wanted the royalty to be shared 50-50 because they were very close to the boundary between both states.

In 1981, a Yoruba man, who was Director of Survey, wrote to the Ministry of Finance on the issue and, after charting, it was found that the oil wells were in Bendel State. He wrote to the Ministry of Finance that the Yoruba would not take this.

He went to Lagos, met with the Director of Survey and reported that a Bini man was behind the charting. Then my Director said no, he charted it. In 1984, Bamidele Otiko became the military governor of Ondo State and came to Lagos to meet my Director. At the meeting, my Director told Otiko  he was responsible for the charting.

When Chief Olu – Falae became the Secretary to the Federal Government, he directed me to write a letter that pending the resolution of the Ondo – Bendel boundary adjustment issue, they should be sharing the royalty 50 – 50. I declined to write the letter.

They then posted one Ondo man  to be the permanent secretary. He was reported to have said he was posted there to do their bidding and they would call him an outcast if he did not. After reading the file, he said I should do something, on the issue and I said, ‘No, you  are the permanent secretary, draft the letter and sign it.

He refused. The then Minister of Works, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, was a witness to all these. Later some people did  a letter purportedly written by me. When Mamman Kantagora became the Works Minister, he  told me that the Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC) had retired me.

That was in 1988. The following week, the  then Ondo governor  called a press conference and told the media  that I forged the  map of Ondo – Bendel States to remove oil wells from Ondo to Bendel. The newspapers  that published the story were  sued for libel and I made them to write apology letters.

Since I was retired, they have not carried out any survey on the Ondo – Bendel boundary issue.
