I shed a solitary tear for CPC, cos thats all I can afford. They went to court and embarrassed themselves when their bosses answered to statements signed by others, resulting in their statements being thrown out. These were grown men too! Shambolic. How can a political party that wanted to rule this country not be able to present a case in court? How? |

^ Dude, Red Bull has the fastest car by far. Nobody argues about that. As MRbrownJAY says, he needs to be teamed with another champ for us to be able to judge him, Mark Webber is a journeyman. Also, this years Red Bull was built around Vettel, thats the reason why Webber had all the breakdowns, while Vettel had none (both men are not the same size).
So far, we know that Lewis is faster than Alonso and Jensen, because he's been team mates to both. We know that Alonso is far faster than Massa (another journeyman), just as Massa ended up faster than Kimi, cos they've all been teamed at Ferarri. Rosberg is faster than Shumacher. Jensen v Barichelo was inconclusive etc etc. Kubica is fast, but we don't know how fast. Other fast guy's that cannot be judged out there are Senna and Kovalainen (faster than Trulli, slower than Lewis tho). I am not too convinced about Perez (great rookie year) and Kobayashi (gutsy).
I would love to see Vettel paired with another World champ or at least, a fast driver like Rosberg; something tells me he will crack and be roundly beaten. |

IKEJA—Ahead of the October 22 local government election in Lagos State, hundreds of aggrieved members of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, yesterday, stormed the party secretariat in Ogba, Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, and took to the major streets in Isolo Local Government Area to protest alleged imposition of candidates.
The state party had, Monday, released the names of candidates to be fielded in the council polls in the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.
The protesters, who accused state party chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale, of not following due process, called on the party’s National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, Governor Babatunde Fashola and members of the state assembly to intervene immediately. failing which they would disrupt the polls.
Also, major streets in Isolo LCDA witnessed massive protest as aggrieved residents, traditional chiefs and politicians stormed the Osolo of Isolo palace to register their grievances.
Market women and men, including traditional cult, popularly known as “Osugbo” trooped to the streets to invoke evil spirits at a junction called “Orita Esu” (devil’s junction) in Isolo with various placards to show their grievances against the imposition of one Shamsudeen Olaleye, against the popular choice of Mojeed Adam as the party’s candidate for the coming council poll.
The protesters, who walked from Isolo Bus- Stop to the palace of Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, said the party did not hold primaries but arbitrarily chose Olaleye, the incumbent chairman, as the candidate for the forthcoming election.

The sooner Nigerians realize that, as a leader, you cannot prioritize issues anyhow you like in Nigeria, the better. The number one problem in Nigeria will always be light. That country will not work until there is a stable source of power. Once there is stable power, other things will start to fall into place. Has he fixed power? No. Damn! I wonder if you're posting from Siberia! GEJ is well on the way to solving the power problem. There are massive improvements that even his worst detractors cannot dispute; as you know, the light problem cannot be fixed in a day either. The only people who aren't enjoying improved power are those who have poor local infrastructure, and even that is being fixed. In PH, people are suffering because their state govt butted unto the grid without permission in a bid to upgrade and caused problems. Abeg, phone home and ask about how the power situation is these days. Its all good. |

It is a strange position to hold when boko haram is quite clearly a weapon against the whole of the South, which the SW is firmly located in. |

Kudos to him of course. But presumably he hasn't received 50 orders for his $10 million planes.
Or should we compare a guy who wrote a web browser himself in Java for a class project with Google Chrome?
There is a difference between personal projects and commercial-grade products.
So he has to have received orders to be credited with making the first ever African aircraft? Maybe I'm missing something, but Tim Berners-Lee wrote the first browser and he is credited for the invention. Who cares if google chrome is commercially successful, does that make them the first to have made a browser? If not, why supping up to SA, because they have a company with 50 orders?

koruji: Here are the facts:
1. Nigeria does not make the "Beetle" - we buy kits and put it together much like CKD and bicycle parts and many other things we "manufacture" in Nigeria!!!!!
2. You cannot compare the effort of one man to that of a company that already has 50 orders worth $50 million. If all you are after is the label of "first ever airplane to be 100% designed in Africa" you can hang on to whatever you want, but I am not about to criticize the vision of a young man. Be rest assured that neither the SA plane nor Mubarak's plane would qualify as the "first ever airplane to be 100% designed in Africa". The problem with you is that you have conveniently replaced "made" with "design" - may you really do not notice that, but that is a completely different argument from making "Air Beetles" and making "Ahracs".
In your quest to use his story to defend your own error you polished the following statement in the article " though to date his designs haven’t soared more than ten feet above the ground" into:
Quoting Beaf: "Here is Mubarak Muhammad Abdullahi, a 28-year-old physics graduate in 2007 at age 24 posing with a viable aircraft he made. He now owns an aircraft business. Why would I leave Nigeria to go hail a company in SA that is making some shiity looking aircraft that don't even look better than what Abdullahi can knock up in his backyard?"
Leave the guy out of your lame attempt to defend your erroneous statement. His plane didn't soar more than ten feet? So you wanna slate his effort for that? And to think you accused Ezeagu of self-hatred! Chai! How high do you think the Wright brothers first flight was, and who do you know is credited with the invention of the air plane? Search yourself and learn to love and defend your own. Your SA promotion is complete rubbish. Ogini di? Abdullahi, who learned the rudiments of flying from the Internet, has spent years tinkering with old cars and motorbikes in his quest to construct his own chopper. He’s had some success, too, though to date his designs haven’t soared more than ten feet above the ground.
How exactly do you plan to change the world?
As part of my effort to promote science and technology in Nigeria, Africa and the whole world, I want to open an engineering and research company, where talent like me and others will have the opportunity to bring out their ideas and put them into practice by sharing them with the other talents in the company, to find the solution on how to improve it and makes it acceptable to the society or government.
The talents will be between the age of 10 and 25 years. All the necessary tools, machines, and materials will be provided by the company under proper safety precautions. To start a company like this would not cost a lot of money, and the return would be a lot. |
