BIGER BOY:
@Beaf I don't know if you are deliberately stoking up violence or wallowing in self delusion, how does two wrongs make a right? How does taking law into your hands constitute right cause of action, and why should we celebrate the creation of a new terrorist group?

There is a saying where I come from 'Crisis is a sleeping beast, and may heavens curse whoever awakens it'
What will heaven do to a man that is asleep when crisis comes knocking?
A lot of you are pretending that the boko haram issue is minor, dude that is delusion. Nothing that is supported by foreign countries and al qaeda is minor.
Keep on sleeping and accusing others of bringing crisis to your door when its been waiting to pounce all day.

There is no ally in the core-North.

islamrules:
Are you saying Yorubas are that coward ?
You are an ignoramous.

So, for the fact that Yorubas doesnt foment trouble OR the fact that yorubas has not joined this religion madness, does it means yorubas are cowards ?

Hausa/Fulanis even know they cant Joke with Yoruba.

I am a Yoruba man from Ile-Ife, we fear nobody even America. We have all it takes to win any war.

Why Yorubas are keeping quiet on Boko-aram
1.  Yorubas are both christians and muslims. For example my Dad is a muslim, I was a muslim, my mother is still a christian and my brothers and sisters are christians. So when it comes to religion violence, it cant happen in Yoruba land. So you want my dad to kill me because of Jihad ? No I trust him, he is not a mediocre.

2.  In yoruba land, Culture and Moral fisrt before religion. We already have our religion before christianity and islam came. We already know "Olodumare" God/Allah before they brought him to us.

3.  We are intelligent, we dont rush to war bcuz their is an adage that says "You only know the begining of a war but not the end".

4.  Ask any Hausa guy or Fulani about Yoruba he will tell you the truth. Remember mile 12 in Lagos. Those hausa guys killed school kids coming from school. In the night, we slaughtered the hell out of them in their huts.

5.  Ede, Osun state, some fulanis, destroyed a farmland with their cattles, those people set a juju trap for them. All of them were sick and majority of them died (including their cattles) and their emir/leader came to the palace to be for forgiveness.

6.  Yorubas dont make noice like Hausa/Ibos.

7.  We are peace loving people
I never said that, but your brothers are saying it. Boko haram hasn't bombed my state, but I don't say I'm unconcerened for that reason; anyone who says they are unconcerened is really saying that they are cowards. This is not the time for anybody to be asleep and talking about being "peace loving." I am quite sure lots of Yoruba's have been killed by boko haram, so whats the peace loving talk about?
You better join with the rest of the country, cos it almost seems that people are cheering boko haram on. Why wait until the SW is attacked? I can't seem to get my head around that.
But you have to be careful with your message.

If you wrap yourself in religious rhetoric and go hunting for terrorists in the core North, then even Muslims who don't like BH might feel sympathy for 'em.

So you increase the # of potential enemies you have. And if your own region is mixed-religion, then decrease the # of allies you have.

It just seems strategically unsound to me to cast this as a religious war.

It helps BH if you do that, and doesn't hurt them.
They have alrteady shown their hand, and nobody really cares what they think or what they will do? We are already faced with religious war, so why pretend?
Akhwat Akwop is being groomed to protect Christian interests. I guess they will start with fearful actions in Southern Kaduna, then we will see what happens. The same people are exploding bombs and chopping babies heads open, everybody is tired of them now. We are preparing for war.
It is a well known secret than Henry Orkah is one of the founding members of MEND and the brain behind most of MEND's activities. He was also the one behind the colourful emails to the media.  I ask those who are now shamelessly vilifying MEND: If MEND is fighting for your freedom, why are you now disowning one of your own. MEND had never been known to be a non violent group.

They've used kidnapping, murders, bombing of pipelines, and piracy as tools. As soon as they started killing innocent Nigerians beginning with their crimes in Warri and then Abuja, fools like you started running arround the web claiming that Northerners were behind the attrocities, You even shamelessly attempted to coin the phrase Aboki MEND.

You and other members of MEND belong in jail. You are nothing but common criminals. olodo
It is your cowardly people that are exploding bombs all over the place. Why is it so hard for you to accept that?
There is nothing like MEND anymore, it died long ago and was buried in the ND; every bomb exploding today is an aboki bomb and every Jomo Gbomo today has a Hausa accent. You people keep on fooling yourselves and don't learn how to play politics in a civilised way, you will NEVER rule Nigeria again. Who will vote for an aboki? For what? To be bombed? Or to increase the almajiri population which govt is now struggling in pain to decrease and eliminate with education? Are they not the same people chopping babies heads open in Jos?

PointB:
Demography, stu.pid! The demography and politics of the civil war is markedly different from what we have now. Before civil war, there was no MEND, Boko Haram, etc, radicalism was left for the Army. Continue to adopt the same strategy, and hope for same result. In the next war, neutral turf might just be the stomping ground, as they will support no side!  grin grin Goodluck to you in your defence of your yorubaland!
Don't mind bluetooth. I hear so many people sayinmg the same things and wonder what planet they are existing on, the civil war he mentioned was fought almost entirely in the east. in any new war, Lagos will be first to fall, in fact it will be one of the hottest battle grounds as both a border area and for its strategic sea ports. Apapa will be like hell, it will be attacked from within. Oyo, Kwara, Ekiti and Kogi will be gateways to the North and boys will roam freely.

Its funny how while others have thrown off the yoke of the Hausa-Fulani and are ready to face them eyeball to eyeball, some are talking about feminine war strategies that will leave their people disenfranchised. In fact the SW is already very disenfranchised, but the fact is yet to sink in. Minority groups like the Urhobo and Itsekiri command more say at federal level which is quite strange. Other groups will end up forging the SW's destiny.

You will be snoring and dreaming of the beautiful house that Nigeria is, when it will suddenly fall on you.

What do you think about this then? The militants have complained over and over about IBB trying to recruit them to destabilise the govt. Any bombing you hear of is all from aboki through IBB and his fellows:

“We suspended our armed campaign for the independence of the Niger Delta when we discovered that General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and his co-travellers in the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) were attempting to fund hoodlums in our region to engage in terrorist activities aimed at painting a picture that the Niger Delta freedom fighters are against the Presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan. We saw that the activities of criminal groups funded by the NPLF to oppose the Nigerian President would taint our genuine struggle for the independence of Niger Delta. However, we do not have anything against the Presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan who happens to be from our region that has been politically marginalized under the heavy burden of internal colonialism.

Nigeria: NNPC, Partners Commence U.S.$16 Billion Petrochemical Plant Survey
Juliet Alohan
27 July 2011

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Efforts to actualise President Goodluck Jonathan's gas revolution agenda were made this week when a team of experts and foreign investors arrived Koko in Warri North local government area of Delta State to commence preliminary site inspection of the planned petrochemical plant and gas processing facilities envisaged to be Africa's largest industrial complex.

The group, which was led by the group executive director, gas and power of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. David Ige, includes experts from Xenel of Saudi Arabia, Nagarjuna of India, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Sahara Energy, Nigerian Ports Plc and officials of the Delta State government.

The massive undertaking, which is projected to gulp about $16 billion investment, entails the construction of 1.3million tonne per annum Polypropylene and Polyethylene plant to be built by Xenel in concert with NNPC and other investors.

Nagarjuna will construct three fertiliser plants each with capacity of 1.3 million tonnes per annum all to be located within the Koko Free Trade Zone. The India leading agro processing company will also build blending plants across the country including Delta State to ensure the blending of fertilisers to align with the soil requirements across the various agro zones in Nigeria.

The approach is expected to lead to improved yield which in turn will galvanise numerous agro and food processing industries around the locality of the blending plants, creating industrialisation in otherwise rural areas. Already the Chevron/NNPC JV is programmed to develop the gas to supply the fertiliser plants.

A statement yesterday by the NNPC spokesman, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, explained that the Koko petrochemical plant and fertilizer facilities will be supported by a massive Central Processing Facility (CPF), capable of processing one billion cubic feet of gas per day. This CPF alongside the others will be the brain-box for the whole industrialisation agenda.

"At these CPFs, wet gas from the wells will be gathered and processed, producing the dry gas and natural gas liquids that will be feedstock for the fertiliser, power and petrochemicals plants," the statement said.

Speaking at the end of the preliminary aerial survey of the entire Koko Free Trade Zone, Dr. Ige said that the multibillion dollar CPF will be executed by some indigenous companies which include Oando and Sahara Energy alongside Shell, Chevron and the NNPC.

"This is the beginning of a massive industrial revolution not only for Delta state but the entire nation anchored on petrochemicals. Our expectations going forward is that over the next few weeks, NNPC in concert with the state government and the investors will move into top gear ahead of the planned engineering works in the months and years ahead," Ige said.

Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, while expressing delight with the activation of the project, called on the federal government to accelerate the planned dredging of the Koko Port waterways to allow for the entrance of heavy vessels in good time for the takeoff of the project.

He, however, hinted that the State may be compelled to take up the dredging project on behalf of the federal government to fast-track the planned construction of the petrochemical plant, describing the Koko dream as a project capable of transforming the economic landscape of not only Delta state but the entire nation.

Matouq Jannah, head of the Xenel delegation and Kovvuri Dharudu, Vice President Commercial, Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemical Ltd, both expressed their companies' readiness and commitment to see the project to a fruitful conclusion in line with the dreams and aspirations of the Nigerian government.

I quite like the way things are turning out with the Middle Belt organising to defend itself from the boko haram nonsense.

Akhwat Akwop alleged that the Islamic republics of Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania and Sudan had been funding the terrorist activities of Boko Haram, warning that its members would attack the nationals of the five countries and their interests.
What do these countries want with Nigeria? This sort of thing is the reason Nigeria need to develop a powerful army that can reach right across Africa to destroy any foe. cool

Boko Haram: Christian extremist group, Akhwat Akwop threatens retaliation
On September 29, 2011 · In News ,
By Emeka Mamah

LAGOS—The new Christian terror group in the North, Akhwat Akwop, which was apparently formed to checkmate the activities of the extremist Muslim Boko Haram sect has asked nationals of five Islamic countries suspected to be funding the Boko Haram to leave the country.

Akhwat Akwop alleged that the Islamic republics of Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania and Sudan had been funding the terrorist activities of Boko Haram, warning that its members would attack the nationals of the five countries and their interests.

The group made its position known in a statement issued, yesterday, and made available to various media houses in Lagos, Abuja and Kaduna.

The group, which sounded a wake-up call on all Christians over the current activities of Boko Haram, said the violence being unleashed on the country was to intimidate President Goodluck Jonathan and other Nigerians to enable the Hausa/Fulani seize power in 2015.

Akhwat Akwop, however, said that political power must return to the old Eastern Region after Jonathan in 2015.

It further stated that it does not recognise any Muslim traditional ruler in any way or form in any part of the North, warning that for peace and harmony in the North in particular and Nigeria in general to be maintained, the Hausa/Fulani who settled in the various minority tribes in the North must stop oppressing their hosts in those areas.

Akhwat Akwop came into security consciousness about two months ago when it dropped leaflets in some parts of the north, including Benue, Taraba, Yobe, Borno, Bauchi, Adamawa, Plateau, Kogi, Nasarawa and Kaduna states, warning that it would do everything possible to liberate northern minorities from the strangle-hold of the Hausa/Fulani who, it stated, had been lording it over them and causing havoc in Nigeria in the name of Islam.

In Kaduna State, large quantities of the leaflets were left at the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre by unknown persons.

The leaflets, entitled Warning to Boko Haram, claimed that Akhwat Akwop stood for the Christian equivalent of Boko Haram, adding that it would be in the forefront of the struggle for the emancipation of northern minorities, whether Christians or Muslims.

The newspaper business is a failing model. I for one don't buy newspapers, I use the web only.
You can do things with online versions that you can't do with print; you can search pages for a word, search for content on a website. There are even a couple of bonuses sprinkled here and there, eg you can leaf through the Vanguard print edition (and other mags) on the Vanguard website, zoom in and zoom out, things I can't do with a normal print edition.

IMHO, if the country were to split today, the SS would do best followed by the Middle Belt and SE (the Western parts of the SE would do exceedingly well). The core-North will really suffer and the SW will see a lot of brain drain, port business, oil coy hq's, banks etc following the money and heading for the SS. They will fare much better than the core-North though.

The SS will either stay together or form three countries; Cross River, Akwa Ibom and parts of Rivers could form one; Bayelsa, parts of Rivers and Delta could form another; parts of Delta and Edo could form a third.

The two bolded points are not too important, believe me.
If you doubt me, take a look at Somalia, and compare it to Chad.
Somalia has the longest coast in East Africa; while Chad is completely landlocked.
Chad is more than double richer (Per capita income: $1,600 (2010 est.); Somalia (Per capita income: $600 (2010 est.)

Northern Nigeria is rich in agriculture and so many minerals. If they get a fair parting share of offshore oil proceeds, they would be hard to beat economically FAR INTO THE FUTURE. Quote me on that.
I don't know where you got this dream that offshore oil will ever be shared with anyone if the country splits. Whoever has their shore abutting the ocean and their navy in offshore waters will own 100% of the oil and won't be sharing it with any phucker.
Politics › Shell Adopts Nigerian Content Model For Global Operation by Beaf(op): 12:34am On Sep 29, 2011
Shell adopts Nigerian Content model for global operation
By Emeka Ugwuanyi

THE Royal Dutch Shell has adopted the Local Content Model being implemented in the country for use in its global operations.
To successfully implement the model, Shell has appointed the immediate past General Manager, Nigerian Content Development, Shell Nigeria, Simbi Wabote, an engineer, as the Local Content Manager, Shell Exploration and Production International Limited.

Speaking at the send-off ceremony organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board for Wabote in Lagos, the Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Ernest Nwapa, explained that the structured implementation of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act is yielding results and attracting international acclaim.

Nwapa said: “It is significant that Shell found it necessary to take the Nigerian Content model being implemented in Nigeria and implant it in their global system. That tells us that what we are doing here is effective and we want to show the world that if Shell says this implementation model is effective, then it is effective.
“It is through Nigerian Content Development that this industry and country can be transformed and industrialised.”

Nwapa hailed the contributions of Wabote to the implementation of the Nigerian Content Act, noting that his analytical approach to issues helped the Board improve its formulation of guidelines and directives.

He expressed delight that Wabote’s new position would afford him the opportunity to play more significant roles that would impact positively on Nigerian Content development.

The Executive Secretary challenged Nigerians in positions of authority in the industry to see Wabote’s elevation as a challenge to make a difference in their companies.
He said: “We feel very strongly that our Nigerian Content Managers should emulate Simbi. He was very loyal to Shell but he also used his position in a right way to ensure that his company complied with the laws of Nigeria.

“We at the Board would continue to rely on the support of Shell and the international oil companies to perform our responsibilities.”
Colleagues and associates of Simbi commended his contributions to the development of local capacity and described his promotion to the Shell International Office in Dubai as an opportunity to export the local content campaign to other parts of the world.

Wabote commended the Board for the significant successes it had recorded in the implementation of the Act, which has resulted in the marked development of local capacity, creation of over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, increased retention of the annual industry spend among others.

He also extolled the Board for employing a non-disruptive implementation strategy and allaying apprehensions which griped some international operating and service companies after the Act was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan on April 22, 2010.
