kulutempa:If you read my post carefully, you will find that I wasn't referring to you as one of those who score cheap points, so please drop your weapons sir. As for the "strange question," the fact is that the average Nigerian abhors reading or researching issues, instead we love mysterious "hand me down tales" to the extent that every straightforward issue develops all sorts of far out angles. The press in the worst offender in this area, instead of engaging in incisive investigative journalism, like the average person, they have become rumour forges. The reason we do not understand burning events in Nigeria is not a problem located elsewhere, it is within you and I. It is straightforward that the ethnic representation in the army and police is heavily lopsided, you will also find that most of the countries weapons of war are located beyond Lokoja. I sincerely don't get your suggestion that the army can be reformed almost magically; that is a fairytale scenario that does not include the destabilising effects it would have on our security; boko haram would be childs play in comparison. I'm interested to know if you were in the decision sit; how long would you estimate such a reform would take? What would you do to stop the country from slipping into war with accusation of ethnic and religious bias? How would you secure the weapons that are kept by those you wish to disarm and how long would that take? Where would you get the personnel to take up the massive numbers of newly vacant positions? Whatever your answers to the above questions are, you would come to the certain conclusion that the resolution of our security issues will take years. Not just that, but you would also see that several reform processes have already kicked off months ago. |
The problem in Lagos is a Lagos state problem. It isn't the FG's business, if the FG does help it would only be out of kindness; Lagos state has a governor. |
That name sounds foriegn. Anyways kodus to the SSS guys. Though, how they conclude the investigation is yet another sad face of governmental orgnisation. Hope this will yield a positive results,
Many claimed Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (Omar Farooq al-Nigeri) was a foreigner. He is Nigerian. Others claimed that Nigerians love life too much to engage in suicide bombing. We have now had local suicide bombings. Some adamantly claim that there is no al-qaeda in Nigeria. Well, they just bombed the UN building. While we Nigerians engage in our usual self-deception, the US, UK, Germany, France etc have closed their embassies in Abuja. Mamman Nur is every bit Nigerian, the core-North is beginning to harvest the bitter fruit of the evil almajirinci culture and the dogged, but one-eyed pursuit of sharia. What an evil combination! The marriage of an ex-gov to a 13 year old girl was just the herald of things to come. Sharia was first introduced to short-circuit Obasanjo, the South Western Christian and "infidel"; now it is a horror inspiring Frankenstein haunting all it casts its evil eye on. I can bet you that it will get worse until the core-Northern elite are swept away by the very monster they created. Only fools mix religion and politics. |
Nigeria says al Qaeda-linked man behind bomb on U.N. Wed Aug 31, 2011 11:57am GMT ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigerian authorities said on Wednesday that a member of a local Islamist sect who has al Qaeda links orchestrated the bombing last week on the U.N. headquarters in Abuja that killed 23 people, and they declared him wanted. "Investigation has revealed that one Mamman Nur, a notorious Boko Haram element with al Qaeda links who returned recently from Somalia, working in concert with two suspects masterminded the attack on the United Nations building in Abuja," the Department of State Services said in a statement. It did not give details of how it came to this conclusion, beyond mentioning that the two Boko Haram suspects were in detention and had given "valuable statements". "We implore , the general public to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of Mamman Nur, who is hereby declared wanted," it said. The bomb on Friday gutted a floor, smashed nearly all of the windows and also wounded 76 people, U.N. officials said -- one of the worst attacks on the United Nations in its history and deadlier than a 2003 blast on its offices in Baghdad that killed 22 people. Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is sinful" in the northern Nigerian Hausa language, has become President Goodluck Jonathan's biggest security headache/ It has carried almost daily shootings or attacks with homemade bombs against security services and civilians in the remote northeast. Jonathan sought to reassure Nigerians on Tuesday that he was stepping up security to prevent more bomb attacks. The U.N. bombing marks an increase in the sophistication of Boko Haram's attacks, apparently with more powerful explosives, and an escalation from local to international targets, analysts say. Some suggest Boko Haram is developing global ambitions and may have connected with al Qaeda's North African wing. If Nigerian authorities are correct, it may also have linked up with jihadists in Somalia. Some Nigerians worry that the oil industry -- only just recovering from militancy in the southern Niger Delta region that mostly ceased with an amnesty in 2009 -- might be the next target, although moving into the mostly Christian south would prove a huge challenge for Islamist militants. "This latest attack , aimed at the U.N. indicates an internationalisation of the struggle and bears hallmarks of an al Qaeda connection," the Eurasia Group wrote on Tuesday. "While this is a worrying development for investors, including western oil companies, the oil-rich Niger Delta will be much harder terrain for Boko Haram to operate in." Poor core-Northern elite and various other boko harams, they have the wet dream that GEJ will resign for them. What a sad lot! ![]() There's no free oil to steal any more. Get used to it. |
It seems that Buhari threads are linked to every new boko haram bombing. We don't see a thread on Buhari when moves are being made in the economy or education, or any other positive thing; but wait until there's a bomb. Methinks Buhari supporters are the bombers. |
It is normal and expected to tell people to pray at religious gatherings. asunaobi:Sad, but true. |
Progressives: The Appeal Court embarrassment | Print | E-mail Written by Abiodun Awolaja Wednesday, 31 August 2011 AT last, the report of the National Judicial Council (NJC) probe panel is out. The panel shunned the evidence provided by the NSA on call logs, some say in an attempt to protect the image of the judiciary. The Nigerian judiciary has murdered sleep. But at least, the panel confirmed that Salami is a liar. A lying judge is a political armed robber. Isa Ayo Salami, the villain who once headed the Court of Appeal, does not interest me. Salami lacks the morals of a LovePeddler, but he has considerable media power to back him up. He is a lying judge, and he has thoroughly battered the credibility of the Nigerian judiciary. Salami, a judicial robber, is worse than Lawrence Anini, the brigand who held Nigeria hostage in the 1980s; worse than Clifford Orji, proven cannibal. He goes about, like his forebears in educated crime, in an expensive suit, at the expense of a countless number of souls. He had a clique of trusted judges sitting on different cases while their colleagues had little or nothing to do. These judges were however cleared of any wrongdoing by the NJC panel. Suddenly, the NBA have forgotten that the NJC has powers to sanction erring judges; these are shameless charlatans. They even speak of a grand conspiracy against Salami, people who will utterly perish in their corruption, unless they repent. They have fabricated a lie: that Jonathan sacked Salami because he was afraid of losing at the presidential election petitions tribunal. These empty souls who are destroyers of the Nigerian state---these criminals who will never see any good in Goodluck Jonathan, are going to end up in total perdition. Jonathan won the election convincingly, and only a lunatic can say he didn’t. I support Jonathan without apology. Call me what you like: Jonathan is a hero, and no amount of propaganda by IGR parasites will blind discerning Nigerians. When, in an interview with this writer last year, former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni, said that the nation now had judges of fortune, he was speaking the truth which is going to haunt the judiciary for a long time. Oni, a cautious gentleman, said that Salami’s conduct could not be used as a yardstick to judge the judiciary. However, Salami and his god of judicial politics have murdered sleep; they are going down in history as the destroyers of the Nigerian state. And to think that the ACN speaks of justice and equity! It is galling that these self-proclaimed progressives would crucify the Chief Justice of Nigeria(CJN), Justice Katsina Alu, accusing him of the crime which their friend alone committed. Why are the NBA, ACN, CODER, etc, so rabid in their defence of a proven liar? Because there is no truth in them, because they are destroyers of the Nigerian state, and because they shall never know peace, even in their looting. It is the IGR of Lagos State that is behind the mad campaign. The SSS department knows about all the economic crimes committed by the so-called human rights activists, liars who befuddle the populace. I am not a human rights activist, only a writer. Oh my, what a vicious attack was unleashed on the CJN when Salami made his now disproved allegation! Of course, a lie does not take anyone farther than it is destined to before the truth strikes. Progressives my foot! These are fraudsters imposed by a power-drunk scoundrel on a befuddled populace. Fraudsters with a capital F. The ACN has been engaging in rabid defence of Salami, its judicial saviour. A lying judge is being defended by a party of pretenders proclaiming unqualified sainthood, a band of political marauders and propagandists planning insurrection against the president, even promising to make the country ungovernable for him. If anyone foments trouble, they should be bundled into police cells, the courts, and then straight to Kirikiri. Kirikiri straight. Those who merit the death sentence should be given the death sentence, and those who deserve to die in jail should be allowed to implement their choice. Anyone who plans any insurrection against the Nigerian people must be jailed for life. Now what should be done? The Salami verdicts must be reviewed immediately. Second, people should stop using Awo’s name to commit heinous crimes; you do NOT have to be an Awoist to be a good governor. You can add ‘ism’ to your name and fashion your own identity. At least, we have seen Aregbeism, a progressive philosophy which saw Osun being run without commissioners for eight months, and university graduates cutting grass from Asejire to Ile-Ife in Osun State, cleaning gutters and packing poo on a progressive salary of N10,000 per month. Mr Rauf Aregbesola, a fantastic governor, is definitely not an Awoist. He is a progressive. The progressives were imposed on party faithfuls, and those who had invested a fortune in the party, including the late MKO Abiola’s son, were silenced. Before this anomaly, however, they had battered the Court of Appeal, and yet these are the same pretenders who boasted that they had come to salvage Yoruba land from the PDP predators. And yet I take a look at Oni’s government in Ekiti and I see new universities, a health programme which made the UNDP to rate Ekiti as having the highest life expectancy in the country; countless new roads, funding for M.A/Ph.d students, paying for UME, WAEC/NECO forms; one laptop per student, etc. Hoodlums befuddling the populace while compromising the judiciary, rigging elections in Moba, Ekiti State, with wanton violence, burning down INEC office in Ido Osi, compromising INEC staff, printing false news and celebrating drug addicts and IGR parasites, are the new progressives. I think the word progressive should protest its bastardisation by these charlatans. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. Watch out for ‘’Salami: Tactics of the progressives.’’ •Awolaja is on the staff of the Nigerian Tribune. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/opinion/27467-progressives-the-appeal-court-embarrassment |
I think they must be Akhwat Akwop operatives. |
seanet02:I don't recall them fighting over bribe money then, do you? Desperation over Salami will kill ACN peeps o! ![]() |
Henry Okah was first to be used by the powers behind boko haram. The fool started bombing the place and fighting the dirty fight for aboki MEND. Henry Okah and boko haram are on the same side. That clown deserves a life sentence. |
koruji:They haven't decided to leave Nigeria at all. What would they be leaving to and where would money come from? Their calculation is to make Nigerians panicky and fearful, so that they can climb those fears back to power. Its plain old blackmail. They aren't very subtle about their tactics too: Nigeria: Don't Victimise Northern Security Personnel Over Boko Haram, Jonathan AdvisedWe need to ally with stronger countries, because the ethnic representation in the officer corps of the police, army and intelligence services is overwhelmingly lopsided. We are in for a crazy ride, its a fight for you and I and we will prevail. ![]() |
Depointer1:If GEJ is not your President, then you are a rebel. Simple as. ![]() And you're still pretending not to know who boko haram is? They are rebels and are bitter (like you and Buhari) too. Go and fool okada_man. most people see through your snake charms. |
kulutempa:The bolded shows you already know the answer that boko haram is made up of our intelligence, army and police officers with a certain ethnic and religious persuasion. So why are you asking strange questions? To the observant, boko haram is as pervasive as, and almost the same as whole sections of the security agencies. Some pretend it is an easy fight on NL in order to score cheap political points. Dude, Nigeria is at war. Again, it is for the observant to decipher what the weapons and battlefronts are. |
^ Sir, what did Buhari do about almajiri's in all his decades in govt? Why is the wild-eyed bigot crying about his boko haram army now?
It is really silly to keep focusing on Buhari as some kind of Boko Haram, childish even. As for me, I'm more interested in what IBB, Atiku and all those radical fundamentalist preachers know. Buhari has ran for election legitimately and used the court and constitutionally recognized means to push his point more than any Nigerian presidential candidate. Shey nor be enemies these so called GEJ defenders be so? We the real supporters of president Jonathan need to be watchful for his sake o. I nor trust Beaf, I think he's working for IBB.
@ Gbawe, you do have a strong point. Isn't that constitution amendable? If GEJ really wanted to trim the size of his cabinet, couldn't he seek an ammendment to the same constitution? He obviously put no effort into it. If he had gone after an ammendment and the NASS threw it out, then we would know he put an effort into it. Obviously, he didn't. -1, GEJ.
I don't know if you are being sarcastic with the above, but amending the constitution is a very involved, lengthy and expensive process. It just isn't worth it to submit a bill and then have to wait 9 months (or a couple of years) while it is thrashed out, before choosing his ministers. . . .a long wait like the unfortunate emperor of Osun, Aregbesola's was. ![]() |
Lets see if the workers get paid. By the way, has the RASCAL packed back to Oshogo from Lagos? LOLZZZ!!! I have a new programme for him called O'Pack!!! ![]() |
To this end, the parley has resolved to launch a national movement for a people’s constitution in Nigeria and “To advocate the establishment of a ‘National Constitutional Convention’ that will bring about a popularly negotiated constitution for Nigeria.”I really like the sound of this. This is the beginning of the new Nigeria. Lets get behind these folk and actualise a constitution that reflects the will of the Nigerian masses, cultures, ethnicities and regions. The country is being strangled by the worthless constitution forced on us by army generals. Our rampant corruption is due to over centralisation of power in Abuja and the meanness of the average Nigerian is due to a lack of belonging to what is in essence, a mere piece of land where the law of the jungle prevails. Fresh Air! |
