Its unfortunate that people have to begin making such far-fetched excuses for Aregbesola. That guy is the worst thing to have hit Nigeria's political scene; the man is totally, lazy, indolent and incompetent. The people were carried away with his out of this World promises, its so sad. Its funny that a party man is now ascribing god-like powers to him for keeping the rains from Osun. I mean its damn crazy! I posted this elsewhere in the past. Osun is in for a very long ride. ![]() What a funny guy! Here is a man who cannot even choose a couple of commissioners to serve the masses. He is going to single-handedly build schools and roads before the end of the year. He makes grand and highly deluded speeches; he promised to turn Osun state into the centre of Yoruba culture and tourism before the end of the year, not stopping there, he was going to massively export yams to Lagos by train and bring back the farm implements that would help Osun build its very own replica of Oke-Arin market. |
Mr Adetunji who alleged that the governor instructed armed policemen to deal ruthlessly with any worker who staged protest or undermined his authority, quoted the governor as saying that “I will use everything within government power if the labour dares my government.”Sad. What Aregbesola is doing is really unfortunate. What makes it worse is the he doesn't even give a toss. How can he as governor of Osun live in far away Lagos, only visiting for 3 days a month? Lets not forget also, that it took this guy 9 months to pick a set of commissioners while his state drifted into miasma. He has also made loud claims to be waiting for the dry season (his second in office) before anything worthwhile begins in poor Osun. It really is heartbreaking. ![]() |
Osun workers vow to continue strike By Bamigbola Gbolagunte September 2, 2011 12:47AM There seems to be no headway in the industrial crisis rocking the Osun State civil service as efforts by the traditional rulers and religious leaders in the state to resolve the labour unrest arising from the raging issue of the ₦18,000 minimum wage have proved unsuccessful. Workers in the employment of the state government yesterday declared to continue with the strike until the state government paid the minimum wage across the board. The workers had since last month commenced an indefinite strike to press home their demand for the full implementation of the ₦18,000 minimum wage as signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan, thereby paralysing economic and social activities of the state. The chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, Francis Adetunji who spoke on behalf of other labour leaders in the state at a press conference in Osogbo yesterday, criticised the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola on his stand on the implementation of the minimum wage and declared that his threats to workers could not hold water. Mr Adetunji who alleged that the governor instructed armed policemen to deal ruthlessly with any worker who staged protest or undermined his authority, quoted the governor as saying that “I will use everything within government power if the labour dares my government.” The labour leader stated: “We never experienced what we experience from Aregbesola’s government as labour leaders even during the military rule in the process of agitating for our rights in the state.” He dissociated the labour unions from the ₦19,001 minimum wage announced by the state government, saying that the labour unions did not enter into any negotiation with the government before it approved the ₦19.001 as minimum wage from levels 01 to 07. ‘State can pay’ Mr Adetunji maintained that the state government could conveniently pay the ₦18,000 minimum wage across board considering the average income of the state put at ₦3.9 billion monthly out of which ₦1.8 billion is required for the payment of salaries and wages of workers in the state based on the new minimum wage. While giving a breakdown of the monthly income of the state from January to June 2011, Mr Adetunji disclosed that the federal allocation and Value Added Tax alone stood at ₦3.5 billion each month, added to the monthly internally generated revenue of ₦4.2 million. He added that the remaining balance of ₦2.1 billion could successfully execute fiscal development projects in the state aside from the money accruable from the excess crude oil money and ecological fund. He added that “what is in the coffers of the state government is enough to pay what the 15,000 workers of the state are demanding for”. He debunked insinuations that the labour leaders were sponsored by the opposition parties in the state, stressing that the state government had lied to traditional rulers and religious leaders on the income and expenditure of the state. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5740575-146/story.csp

I think the ND should cut the chase and prepare for war instead. |
ispeed:My friend, go and sleep! You are very tired and your battery is weak. All the times extremists killed people in the North, over beauty pageants, cartoons in a distant foreign. . . Basically any phucking reason to kill people, was it NATO? Is the splitting of tiny babies heads and the burning of their corpses in Jos Nato's doing? Was it Libyans? You people are simply brainwashing your folk with far-fetched tales for the illiterate mind in order to begin your al qaeda work in Nigeria. |
Depilot:There is no gorilla that cannot be subdued. |
Lol @ Bitter losers abusing innocent Nigerians, themselves and their children. What will Bakare do next? Whip out an AK and massacre the people in his church? ![]() |
auwal87:Na deh boko haram de and na deh di yawa gas! ![]() |
ispeed:Rubbish! You are very ispeed. ![]() |
Opibolstow:Thanks bruv. Many of the commenter's on this thread don't know just how stifling an environment Nigeria is for science, the talented and the gifted. So they really cannot understand that what has happened with the building of and indigenous satellite represents a massive leap forward in attitude and self-belief. We have talented people by the bucket load, but the nation is mired in low self-esteem, that duck must be broken. It is self-belief that gives a nation the balls to develop. Yes, we can do it too! 3 gboza for 9ja! |
goggs:Nice one. In addition to the positives you've mentioned, there are also several countries without a presence in space that lie along the trajectory of our satellites orbit. Nigeria is now in position to sell several services to them. Some people have scoffed that the first photo made available is from New Zealand; while I know they have a space programme, it is not certain that they have any satellites in space. Even if they did, Nigeria can still sell satellite services to New Zealand, especially with their recent earthquakes. |
Abujabir24:You actually emailed boko haram and you aint a member? Is it really possible to be so stup!d? Guy, believe me, FBI, MOSSAD and the whole works are on your tail, you might not know it, but they are unto you, your family, all of your friends. What a low IQed guy! |
Gbawe:Lol! See how Gbawe de vex! ![]() Of course, I mentioned that the building was in Minsk, so what new thing have you said. Gaddem! It must be a strange World for you dafties sha! Abi, is it because I observed you were "striving sooooooooooooooooo hard to maintain an aura of pig-like daftness?" Laf wan mek me spit my garri out! Unu go broke small pikin bone o! www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 |
tunnytox:I know the UK like the back of my hand sir. People do not abuse the PM like they are a bunch of ill-bred rats, in fact the country will turn on any sorry soul that attempts it, opposition or not. There is no country on Earth that has people more civil than the British, they call you "sir" and tell you "thank you", even when they are killing you. They do not roll on the ground in grief and they hide open displays of anger (thats left for yobs and footie supporters). Its called the stiff upper lip; choose another country to situate your tales, cos the UK isn't it. |
Vincent 4:Next time you mention any fairy tale character, I will personally walk through your screen and knock your lights out. ![]() |
The men arrested four years ago had allegedly been caught with explosives. Their rapid release from detention was apparently aimed at placating Muslim groups, but it has now come back to haunt security officials who fear a growing wave of al-Qaida-linked terror attacks in Nigeria, a main supplier of oil to the United StatesIt is high time we stopped placating any group in this country. If that phucker had been sentenced to death in 2007 we wouldn't have had 23 dead instead. ![]() |
Gbawe:Sometimes, I wonder why you strive so hard to maintain an aura of pig-like daftness. Everybody knows that the term KGB represents Russian intelligence, it might even interest you to know that the Soviet KBG continues to exist unchanged (name and all) in some of the old Soviet Union states. This is the KBG headquarters in Minsk and a link to their website. Stop being eternally silly and attend to the topic or shut up, sir. http://www.kgb.by/eng/ https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7d/Batiment_du_KBG_a_Minsk.jpg/800px-Batiment_du_KBG_a_Minsk.jpg |
gokuu:Bros, you are wrong; thats the same thing that was said about the fool called Farouk Mutallab. But now we know better. |
tunnytox:Nigeria's image is damaged by people like you who see nothing wrong in abusing your leader with ill-bred gutter words, simply because you lost elections. Which kain red-eye be dat na? ![]() I only pity the teenagers that come here and witness the show of shame put on by men in their 60's and 70's. ![]() |
Boko haram do not care who they use and destroy. A couple of weeks ago, police disarmed a 10 year old girl with explosives strapped to her body. |
greateros:Don't keep repeating this unfortunate argument. Yes, Nigerians built the satellite. It should be a pride to every last one of us. |
27-year-old Nigerian, Mohammed Abul Barra.Another life wasted in foolishness and evil. He is probably burning in hell right now and wondering where the lovely breas'ted v!rgins he was promised are. All he will see is the maniacal visage of Beelzebub as flames melt his "mutallab." |
stillwater:There are different ways to tackle the underlying malaise. In this case, the malaise is political, it is the born to rule attitude some have. It needs to be tackled, quartered, diced and flushed down the toilet. |
Eziachi:If you remain steadfast in the forlorn argument that al qaeda is not political, then how can anyone define the term "political" to you? Do you think al qaeda is trying to spread Islam when they help al shabab? Everyone knows that Somalia is already a Muslim country. Maybe you think their operations in Yemen are also to spread their religion to the Yemeni as well. What would you imagine al qaeda's interest in Nigeria to be? Spreading Islam? You got jokes, sir. Dude, your argument has no foundation. Give it up. |
niddamugu:LOLZZ!! That mouth is aimed squarely at the enemies of progress in 9ja. It hits them square between the eyes with verbal bulldozer's, tactical combinations and intellectual uppercuts. ![]() No be lie, Inada baki! ![]() |
niddamugu:No probs dude. Lets take China, the Worlds rising power as a template for this discussion. In the 60's and 70's, the only news from China was bleak and dreary, it was about millions dying of starvation, droughts and hunger. Check out the biggest one, the Great Chinese Famine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Chinese_Famine between 36 and 46 million died. Yet in all that time, China steadfastly kept on the path of industrialisation, building nuclear weapons and acquiring technology from Russia. Today, those efforts have paid off handsomely, the people are no longer dying like flies, or the laughing stock of the World. They are a World power and by a long shot too. Todays Nigeria is very much as primitive as China of the 60's and 70's. Thats a lesson we should look at. acquiring high tech is setting up a store of gold for future generations. The power you talk about is being attended too, there is no reason for the rest of our development to come to a halt. |
greateros:I am shocked at this post. Why do some of you excel in putting Nigerians and blacks down? Believe it or not, Nigerians like you and I built that satellite; because like every other race, the black man can. That fact has been proven by the crystal clear pictures the satellite has taken from outer space. Our country is taking the right technological steps at last. The success of that satellite brings a tear to the eye and I am very proud to be a Nigerian. |
niddamugu:I wonder what your reason for abusing me is? |
niddamugu:You disagree based on what? Nigerian engineers built the satellite and they are bringing that technology back home, in time it will be 100% Nigerian. China started by cooperating with Russia, same as Iran; India started by cooperating (and stealing from) America. . . Thats the way it goes. Every technological step forward Nigeria makes is worth its weight in gold. |
LoveKing:You are truly funny. Russia has problems with Islamic extremists in Chechnia, that is why the KGB is interested. |
please Beaf tell us the benefit of this particular satalite we launched. I respect Jonathan and Obj for this but I want to know the benefit thanks
It is useful for things such as: Disaster mangement Spying on and tracking cars Warfare Weather prediction Agricultural advice (eg accurate crop yield predictions) Tracking arable lands and large-scale effects of farming methods Estimating human and animal populations (maybe thats why the first pic wasn't of Kano )National statistics gathering Traffic management High tech industry spinoffs (especially in comms and electronics) Mapping (becomerich is now out of business!) etc, etc, etc |
cold:It can take pictures of other countries, because it is not in geostationary orbit (hanging in space over Nigeria). What further proof do you need that Nigeria can now monitor events in other nations? Lol! Such things help if you are developing and need to steal technology. |
